Hi Im a Blackpool fan and couldnt stomach watching MOTD highlights last night of us losing again at Everton. I needed a fix of football so for some reason i ended up watching Scottish cup Football highlights on BBC Scotland, despite never having much interest in football north of the border. I have to say i really enjoyed it. All the matches were very watchable but what caught my eye was your match and your team. You were really entertaining, played some good football and scored some very well worked goals. I'll definately look out for your results in the future. Great draw for you in the next round. Good Luck3 points

Gosh, that "Dougal" does my head in. There are plenty fans, like me, who have attended all the home games, both league and cup, (and pre season friendlies) and all the away games too. We don't come on here and praise ourselves and say we are great fans, or moan about the poor crowds at certain games - we try and encourage our friends and colleagues to come to the games but understand lots of families commitments. Strange how Dougal always moans, is he Victor Meldrew reincarnated? Has he not heard about constructive criticism. Please Dougal go and support some other team, please, we have enough moaners at the games without you, please go, or, disconnect your computer and/or mobile phone, and do us all a favour. Bye bye.2 points

Fer fecks sake Dougal - 1500 of us had to get up early the following morning to go to the Old Filth game.2 points

Hang on, what exactly gives you the right to classify people who did not attend these games as losers (and to be clear I was at both these games and therfore miss out on having the ignomy of having to be classed as a loser). You have no right to sit in judgement and be personally abusive to match. If someone is working for both these games, ill or simply unable to afford the tickets this is clearly undesirable but how exactly does this lead to them being a loser! Your point regarding attendees being given a priority for these tickets is however sensible.2 points

Look at it this way: County beat Celtic last year so we have a chance. Show the SFA that caley are no a diddy team!2 points

Couldn't decide which forum to post this in (ICT, general nonsense, Olde Inverness) so just thought I would bung it in here. I was delighted to read this week that John Beaton was given the Merit Award at the Scottish FA's Grassroots Awards. Having played under John as a youngster for Inverness United and known the efforts and time that he dedicates to football I really feel that this kind of recognition is not only well deserved but potentially overdue. He is certainly one of the good guys around and there can't be many people involved in Inverness football who haven't had some kind of dealings with him. An absolute gentleman and I can't think of anyone who would have a bad word to say. Cheers to John1 point

As Alex has said, it has everything to do with our change of service provider in early November and nothing to do with an odious poster who chooses to (try and) hide behind a pseudonym. As much as you might like to think of yourself as a champion of the people, you really are irrelevant in this equation Dougal as the process was already under review prior to your post. Although our reasons for making any changes to the site are quite frankly none of your business, we have chosen to give some explanation just so you do not form another fantasy or conspiracy theory. As for traffic - no noticeable difference so your assumption there is also absolute bollocks.1 point

This may be an unconscious defence mechanism but I would prefer to have one of the Old Filth at this stage as I dont think that we would beat them at Hampden and we are better when we are up against it. Win this one and there is no reason why we cant go all the way. Plus such a draw on the seers birthday just shouts good fortune1 point
-
I believe ....we are going to win the cup! With Doran and Hayes on the flanks - Foran and Rooney up front we definitely have an attacking force to be reckoned with. Defensively I think Hogg will turn out to be a massive signing for us. The cup is ours!!! BELIEVE!1 point

Dougal, I was at the Elgin game. If I could have I'd have been to the Morton one. I will likely be at the QF and I'll probably have no difficulty getting a ticket. Many people have many different reasons for not attending some games. Personally I dont think thats your's or any other persons business. Nor do I think you have any right to rant about it. The crowd is disappointing and the club will likely have paid out more in puting the game on than they'd have taken in gate reciepts but that is no reason to slag off the people who chose not to go yesterday but still find it in them to support the club in what is the bread and butter..........the league.1 point

We simply have to play our strogest team add that means Esson. Sentiment cannot enter into this and those who think Tuffey should start ahead of Esson just because he has started the two cup games so far are deluding themselves. We have to try and win this game, and while Tuffey would not let us down I am sure, Esson is by far the more experienced keeper.1 point
-
i'll tell you what dougal i will use my season ticket to get you one if you like. pm me and i will arrange it for you1 point
-
Tuffey for me, why should he be dropped when he has played his part as much as anyone in getting us to the quarters? In fact if it wasn't for him we may well have been punted out of the cup by Elgin City, a defeat that would have been the most embarrassing result in the clubs history dougal1 point
-
i would prefer rangers as i think celtic are the better of the 2 right now, rangers don't have as much depth as celtic and rangers have to play more games in hand which will leave their first team not as fresh for the game1 point

Why are kids and wifes always an excuse for everything? It's like Rev Lovejoy's hussy on the Simpsons. "What about the Children!". ?I have a cat so I couldn't make it yesterday. I hadnt seen him in a few days. Babies are cheaper than adults to feed and clothe. You could also sneak a small child into a game under a baggy jumper. I would try it with my cat but, any new situation, and he pisses himself. It's his default 'this is unusual' mechanism.? Dougal is right, but it's a senario that will never go away. Does anyone remember when we beat some Glasgow based Dublin team 1-3 in the cup? We brought around 7000 - 8000 down to Glasgow (using the Elgin calculator and the Seville calculator, it was probably more like 40'000) but for the next round against Aberdeen, it wasn't even a sell out, and if memory serves me correct, which sometimes it doesn't because the cat craps all over the flat, and I never clean it up, and I've now got huge problems with my health (ref : Kevin McKidd, train-spotting), there was only around 4000. What you supposed to do? Hand the home fans from the Morton game vouchers an only let them in for the rest of the season? At least one plus though would be more parents get to see their wee ones grow up, and marriages would be a lot stronger.1 point

Think I could well be at the QF game...............after all I'm one of those who some think not a good supporter. I only go to the big games......like Elgin City, Queens Park, Peterhead etc. For me the problem with going to other games tends to be the lack of available helicopters. But thats probably a poor excuse in the eyes of some folk.1 point

How about wearing our away strip for home games all the time after yesterday?1 point

Calm down Tug............................nothing in the above post that's having a go at you or the likes of you is there? Dougal, for all his wind ups, makes a valid point that is true for the vast majority of clubs. Don't disagree with him, don't know what can be done about it but he doesn't deserved to be panned! That's the thing about this and other forums. Are they private clubs that welcome only the opinions shared by the chosen few or are they public forums that allow freedom of speech/debate? Despite the best efforts of some (Alex !) CTO usually falls in the latter category. Lets keep it that way!1 point

well caught Sir you have hooked one i am sick fed up of time and time again people trying to make out that because someone does not go to a game they are LESS of a fan than others i would love to attened every game, i would love to have every strip i would love to do lots of things but there are a list of reasons why i can't/don't :- i am currently down in wolverhampton i have a wife and two children, they sometimes have to come first i am fortunate enough to have a season ticket so i go the games when i can life doesnt always pan out the way you plan it is becoming more and more common on here to find threads that are slating fans for one reason or another and its getting old and tired. i am fortunate enough to be able to afford a season ticket and i am glad i do as i know it means that when i can get to the game my seat will be therre but im sorry i really didnt want to drive for the best part of 12 hours to come home see my wife and kids(who i havens seen for the best part of a month) for all of about 3 hours just so i can go to see us beat morton. im sorry if in your eyes that makes me a lesser fan but let me ask you this Dougal when was the last time you went above and beyond for the club, when did you really get of your bum and do something for the club instead of just going online and bleating about how fans should be ashamed and unable to sleep at night?1 point

I was never impressed with Hogg during my past philanderings down Leith way. He was at his best next to Rob Jones, a dominant centre-half who would step out to meet the ball while Hogg would cover behind him. They had a good understanding, something that is often more important for defenders than individual attributes. Hopefully Hogg can form a similar partnership with Grant Munro. He's got 3 or 4 seasons of regular SPL football under his belt and captained Hibs to 4th place last season so he definitely offers good experience.1 point

Excellent point, advertising could make this site a tidy sum certainly a lot more than any donation i personally could make and you base this assumption on what exactly ? I dont think we actually complained about running costs? You started this thread not us. We have simply answered your actual question which was why we didnt leave all threads open to guests. The fact that one of the reasons we choose to display the site the way we do is to do with the cost of bandwidth is immaterial. We are not out with the begging bowl to users, we do not ram our 'sponsor member' option down people's throats and we do not routinely moan that the site is expensive to run ... it may be mentioned from time to time in response to a question as to why we may or may not be able to do something, but its not a constant whine. Advertising is an option but its a little difficult for me to get round local businesses in Inverness to try and source it and the simple fact is that online advertising budgets for most smaller companies are not huge. We chose to use Google ads because we can have some adverts that - as mentioned before - cover a decent portion of our operating costs, and we can keep them less obtrusive than advertising on other sites. Dont get me wrong, if some big company came along and offered us cash to sponsor the site we would definitely consider it ...we are not totally philanthropic ! I kind of take a little umbrage to the "Profits could be re-invested in improving the site or donations made directly to ICT" comment ..... We constantly improve this site .... read the post further up the page where I have described some of our evolution .... the site now compared to 15, 10, 5 or even 2 years ago is far different and IMHO far better than it was before because we invest in the site. We have moved from free hosting to shared hosting and now to VPS hosting, we have evolved from a guestbook to a rudimentary forum, to free forum software to a commercial grade forum, we have moved from static pages to basic content systems to a full content management system, we have moved from one person running and writing everything to having a team of individuals running, moderating, and writing articles (and I have to say that the quality of preview/report articles has increased vastly this season from when I might throw something together). We also respond to 'bug' reports from our members faster than most commercial sites I am a member of. As for donations .... the Internutters sponsorship started as a CTO sponsorship. I personally sponsored Grant Munro for a few years before turning it over to the group effort that Guzz now runs, and we underwrite it, vowing to make up any shortfall when we are in between one sponsorship goal and the next one. Even now whilst perhaps not making a monetary donation to ICT both myself and CaleyD have and continue to donate resources and time to help the club with various projects. For example, the bandwidth we are all talking about at the moment hosts the videos of all the matches that are shown on the club website and we process all the footage for the club so it can be streamed online. Thats just one thing, there are plenty of others.1 point

A good [erformance all round and Doran looks like a real find. Not convinced about Hogg, still looks a bit of a plodder and for me, Tokely outshone him easily. Once again however, Dani Sanchez made a real difference when he came on and gives the team a different attacking option. Hope his injury is not too serious as he deserves a run of games and certainly should play ahead of Eric, who, sadly was very poor again.0 points

i spent a good chunk of the afternoon yesterday in a walkabout pub in wolves i eventually got in after first being refused as it was "an away pub" after a couple quiet drinks waiting for my mates to turn up i eventually got chatting to some of the man u fans and have to say it was a brilliant laugh the atmosphere in the pub was amazing and i was made to feel perfactly welcome and was told several times that i should go to the game (only the lack of a ticket prevented that )some of there songs were very witty and sharp and they really did have an all for one attitude looking forward to the next time i get to have that experience0 points

As predicted earlier by myself a glamour quarter final tie is guaranteed in the shape in one of the old filth Lets watch all the stay away fans suddenly re-appear as the clamber for tickets intensifies Not being a season ticket i will now have to queue with thousands of these losers who couldn't be bothered to show face against Elgin or Morton and i'm not even guaranteed a ticket at the end of the day This is an absolutely crazy situation surely the club should have announced that fans that could show that they attended the earlier rounds would be guaranteed a ticket before the public sale commenced Maybe the supporters trust or whatever they call themselves these days could bring up my complaint at their next meeting Rant over dougal-2 points

1893 was the official attendance yesterday Firstly i would like to congratulate every ICT fan including myself who attended yesterday, every single one of us deserve a round of applause It will be interesting to see the stampede for tickets if we draw a glamour tie in the quarter finals, these so called fans who will appear out of the woodwork are a disgrace in my eyes and how they sleep at night is beyond me Watching the game on TV only highlights how sparce the crowd was, in future when the crowd is that low we should wait till 2.55pm then all move en mass to the one area in the north stand(say section G & F) and main stand, that way it looks a lot less embarrassing on TV and you never know it might just create an atmosphere when everyone is huddled together I had a big night on the sauce last night so i'm still half canned but i hope the above makes sense Thoughts dougal-3 points
