  1. Couldn't decide which forum to post this in (ICT, general nonsense, Olde Inverness) so just thought I would bung it in here. I was delighted to read this week that John Beaton was given the Merit Award at the Scottish FA's Grassroots Awards. Having played under John as a youngster for Inverness United and known the efforts and time that he dedicates to football I really feel that this kind of recognition is not only well deserved but potentially overdue. He is certainly one of the good guys around and there can't be many people involved in Inverness football who haven't had some kind of dealings with him. An absolute gentleman and I can't think of anyone who would have a bad word to say. Cheers to John

  2. Hi Im a Blackpool fan and couldnt stomach watching MOTD highlights last night of us losing again at Everton. I needed a fix of football so for some reason i ended up watching Scottish cup Football highlights on BBC Scotland, despite never having much interest in football north of the border. I have to say i really enjoyed it. All the matches were very watchable but what caught my eye was your match and your team. You were really entertaining, played some good football and scored some very well worked goals. I'll definately look out for your results in the future. Great draw for you in the next round. Good Luck

  3. We should know a bit more about this game later in the week when our club secretary has had a chance to speak to both Rangers and Celtic to agree prices etc. I'm not sure when we will know if it is going to be televised or not, but we will try to have tickets on sale as soon as possible. Keep an eye here and on the official site for further information

  5. I believe ....we are going to win the cup! With Doran and Hayes on the flanks - Foran and Rooney up front we definitely have an attacking force to be reckoned with. Defensively I think Hogg will turn out to be a massive signing for us. The cup is ours!!! BELIEVE!

  10. As far as our support is concerned, IHE is an ICT legend. Something you'll never be....

  11. We simply have to play our strogest team add that means Esson. Sentiment cannot enter into this and those who think Tuffey should start ahead of Esson just because he has started the two cup games so far are deluding themselves. We have to try and win this game, and while Tuffey would not let us down I am sure, Esson is by far the more experienced keeper.

  12. What! You mean when a helicopter is not available you don't immediately fashion a rowing boat A-Team style and then make a bee-line for the mainland (I'm guessing u work offshore). You truly are a terrible supporter!

  13. Why are kids and wifes always an excuse for everything? It's like Rev Lovejoy's hussy on the Simpsons. "What about the Children!". ?I have a cat so I couldn't make it yesterday. I hadnt seen him in a few days. Babies are cheaper than adults to feed and clothe. You could also sneak a small child into a game under a baggy jumper. I would try it with my cat but, any new situation, and he pisses himself. It's his default 'this is unusual' mechanism.? Dougal is right, but it's a senario that will never go away. Does anyone remember when we beat some Glasgow based Dublin team 1-3 in the cup? We brought around 7000 - 8000 down to Glasgow (using the Elgin calculator and the Seville calculator, it was probably more like 40'000) but for the next round against Aberdeen, it wasn't even a sell out, and if memory serves me correct, which sometimes it doesn't because the cat craps all over the flat, and I never clean it up, and I've now got huge problems with my health (ref : Kevin McKidd, train-spotting), there was only around 4000. What you supposed to do? Hand the home fans from the Morton game vouchers an only let them in for the rest of the season? At least one plus though would be more parents get to see their wee ones grow up, and marriages would be a lot stronger.

  16. But if we did that Finger, how else would we able to put him in his place? I would imagine drops in attendance in the cup generally tend to stem from them being additional costs to season tickets. It's another expense. Not that Im suggest Season ticket holders avoid cup games. It's just that having already paid for their season they might not fancy paying for another one off ticket for themselves and perhaps the rest of the family. As well as the usual travel costs. Then you can take other variables into the equation. Weather, level of opposition etc I know Im not a great supporter myself. I dont attend alot of games but when I do I get right behind the team. My team. I buy my shirt most seasons. Sometimes home and away (if 2 new released or buy them alternate seasons) When we win I feel dapper all weekend. Pleased as punch. When we lose I feel deflated. Though Im usually too busy in the 'Burgh to attend games (work or seeing friends) I respect all ICT fans who unite with their fellow fan and get behind the team. The definition of support in my eyes is SUPPORTING the team whenever you can. I'd rather get behind the team half a dozen times a season than attend every game to abuse them and my fellow supporter. And there is nothing more soul destroyingly crushing than watching your team relegated on your birthday. Whilst nursing the previous nights drunken debauchery.

  17. As Alex has said, it has everything to do with our change of service provider in early November and nothing to do with an odious poster who chooses to (try and) hide behind a pseudonym. As much as you might like to think of yourself as a champion of the people, you really are irrelevant in this equation Dougal as the process was already under review prior to your post. Although our reasons for making any changes to the site are quite frankly none of your business, we have chosen to give some explanation just so you do not form another fantasy or conspiracy theory. As for traffic - no noticeable difference so your assumption there is also absolute bollocks.

  18. I reckon, being the hate sponge that he is, Diouf might actually have had quite a bit of experience in handling himself. He will go down under any challenge, and the refs will be aware that there is a good chance that, SPL Mid range players whom, will struggle to get a cap, let alone represent their country at a world cup and be voted their continents best player (twice), will be looking for the easiest route to securing cult status. We will have yet another diver on our hands. Players get ripped to pieces for a dive, however, break the rules in a more aggressive and blatant manner, and you have yourselves a good lad. Bit rash sometimes, but a good lad.

  21. Think I could well be at the QF game...............after all I'm one of those who some think not a good supporter. I only go to the big games......like Elgin City, Queens Park, Peterhead etc. For me the problem with going to other games tends to be the lack of available helicopters. But thats probably a poor excuse in the eyes of some folk.

  22. As predicted earlier by myself a glamour quarter final tie is guaranteed in the shape in one of the old filth Lets watch all the stay away fans suddenly re-appear as the clamber for tickets intensifies Not being a season ticket i will now have to queue with thousands of these losers who couldn't be bothered to show face against Elgin or Morton and i'm not even guaranteed a ticket at the end of the day This is an absolutely crazy situation surely the club should have announced that fans that could show that they attended the earlier rounds would be guaranteed a ticket before the public sale commenced Maybe the supporters trust or whatever they call themselves these days could bring up my complaint at their next meeting Rant over dougal

  24. Miller isn't that long a sername! Jan Venegoor of Hesselink scored a last minute winner a few weeks before the cup tie, then Pressley and Miller scored two late goals after Bayne had put us ahead in that horrible cup game. Pressely and Miller was Round 5 of the cup. We were 1-0 up till the 88th minute when Pressely equalised. In extra time Miller got the winner. The league game a few weeks before that Riordon took the lead for Celtic in 37. Bayne equalised in 57 and Vinegar got the winner in about the 4th minute of injury time. Im pretty sure it was the quarter final they beat us in . You didn't snnely edit your post there to take out the bit about us not getting to the quarter out did you!!

  25. Tuffey for me, why should he be dropped when he has played his part as much as anyone in getting us to the quarters? In fact if it wasn't for him we may well have been punted out of the cup by Elgin City, a defeat that would have been the most embarrassing result in the clubs history dougal

  26. 1893 was the official attendance yesterday Firstly i would like to congratulate every ICT fan including myself who attended yesterday, every single one of us deserve a round of applause It will be interesting to see the stampede for tickets if we draw a glamour tie in the quarter finals, these so called fans who will appear out of the woodwork are a disgrace in my eyes and how they sleep at night is beyond me Watching the game on TV only highlights how sparce the crowd was, in future when the crowd is that low we should wait till 2.55pm then all move en mass to the one area in the north stand(say section G & F) and main stand, that way it looks a lot less embarrassing on TV and you never know it might just create an atmosphere when everyone is huddled together I had a big night on the sauce last night so i'm still half canned but i hope the above makes sense Thoughts dougal
