Very disappointed with Alex Salmond today courting the votes of the Unionists. He said that the most important thing here was the survival of Rangers football club. Wrong Alex! The most important thing is that the tax payer gets as much money possible out of the criminals who run that business.Whether or not Rangers' survival is good or bad for Scottish football is not the issue here. Those running the club, past and present have been deliberately withholding money from the taxpayer - money which could be used for a whole raft of essential public services which are being squeezed at the moment. Carer support for the elderly, books for school kids, repairing crumbling roads, investing in the NHS - you name a worthy use of public spending and Rangers football club is stopping it happening. It is extraordinary that there is a mindset in this country that almost accepts failure to pay tax as a bit of bad luck and those who fail to pay can negotiate with the authorities to agree to pay back whatever minimal amount of their debt they can get away with. They then start again buying into a debt free company owned by their mates who bought the assets at knockdown prices. They then find new ways in which to spend money they haven't got and steal more from the taxpayer. Every asset of the club should be sold and those responsible for the theft should have their personal assets including money hidden in other companies identified to pay back as much of the debt as possible. They should be allowed nowhere near a football club again.

We do actually have one of the better youth set-ups, run by one of the better groups of youth coaches in the league. It must be very frustrating for our coaches when they have to oversea the release of players because we simply cant afford to keep them all. We cant pay a full U-19 squad so we try and supplement them with younger players who are mere schoolkids. DD had a valid question and Oddquine answered as she sees things. DD's points were also very valid as he see's them. CD chips in with more very valid points. We can all put our tuppenceworth in based on what we know and see and none of us are wrong. I do support the point that if there was more information available regarding how things are with the youth and U-19 setups there would be little need to enter into this type of debate. The bottom line in all this is that if we want to stay in this league in the current economic climate we need to make sacrifices.

There are a lot of good points in what you say CD. I have'nt been an ST holder before due to work but, because I retire this year, I will likely go for one next season and I'd happily suffer the weather to stand in that area. I also think that a noisey north wing could generate a better atmosphere around the rest of the stadium. It may well be that many people who can afford a North stand ST cannot afford to go the bit extra to help fund this, and many others who cant justify a ST against the number of games they can attend, so I'd be inclined to suggest that, if the club agree in principle, we have some fund raising events, perhaps organised through the Supporters Trust and Club. Could we fund and fill two hundred seats in this area? I'd also suggest that, as a trade off for the funds raised, the club give the fans the wall that traverses the area for flags and banners. A red and blue brigade area to rival the evil twins as it were.

BBC Sportsound have just read out the number of employees that Rangers have. Huge numbers of folk are going to lose their jobs through no fault of their own. 20 people work in the ticket office alone. No matter how you feel about this youve gotta feel sorry for a lot of people.

If the game has yet to take place, and Rangers (or the administrators) cannot give assurances that the receipts for sales for this future fixture will be paid for then I say we should declare all tickets for the south stand void, reprint them on bright green paper (perhaps with white stripes) and sell them ourselves (or via the Portland Club) .... anyone turning up with original tickets gets turned away. simple. (in theory at least) the ticket money is not Rangers' money, it is ICT money which I think Rangers take a commission from for selling them, and which Rangers (and Celtic) requested to sell so they could control who got them amongst their support. If they are not going to pay for them, then the tickets are as good as frauds or forgeries and should be treated as such ....

If HMRC are pursuing only what liabilities have been racked up since Whyte took over and that has led them to be unable to pay their way, people are going to be very interested in what happened to the dosh he got for selling the catering rights, what he got for Jellyfish and the unpaid PAYE for the year. What's he done with it? Given that this debacle has tarnished his reputation beyond any repair will he actually care about the aftermath or simply sit back and trouser any reasonable offer that comes for Castle Greyskull (presuming that point 1 (above) doesn't constitute illegality)You never know, it might pay for his roof.

No...because it is not the employee who has broken the rules. It is the Contractor/Companies responsibility to deduct the relevant tax and pay HMRC. EBT's (Employee Benefits Trusts) work by "paying" an employee part of their salary by means of a loan. That loan is invested in a a Trust and all kinds of weird and wonderful conditions are attached to make it unlikely (although not impossible) that the loan will ever be recalled. Over and above this, employees are paid a basic wage and can borrow against the money they have invested in the Trust....the company then takes repayments for the second loan from the Trust which holds the proceeds of the first loan. By placing the Trust Offshore, they avoid payment of Income Tax & National Insurance on the EBT portion of their salary....although I believe some corporation tax liability exists on the part of the transaction done in the UK. The HMRC have disputed the legality of these schemes from the outset, rightfully claiming that they were "Disguised Remuneration", and anyone setting up such a scheme knew there was always a risk that they would be pursued for the tax that had been avoided. Legislation changed at the end of 2009 which put an end to such schemes one and for all and the pursuit of outstanding taxes begun. HMRC gave companies until December 2011 to sit down with them and agree settlement...they offered incentives for those willing to co-operate. From what I understand, Rangers FC refused that option and that is why they are now being pursued so vigorously. Why Rangers FC refused to co-operate and reach settlement is open to speculation, but I suspect it was in large part due to the fact that the moment they settled then money would be due....money which they do not have...and any repayment plan would have left Rangers owing money to HMRC and any club owing money to the Taxman is not allowed to participate in European Competitions.

Son of Rangers is no more 'outrageously unjust' that Son of Airdrie. Couldn't pay their debts. Slightly changed their name. Bought the licence out (from Clydebank) and continued playing. Can't see much of a difference there. Why is it one rule for one club and another for the rest? Indeed, if Rangers were treated like the rest of the SPL, instead of the one club (Gretna), they wouldn't even be docked any points. As for, the SPL would be more exciting coz Celtic wouldn't spend so much. As their finances decrease, so would the rest. They still have 5 to 10x the crowds of everyone else for a start, plus a worldwide following. In the face of a broke Rangers, a broke Hearts and no-one else investing, Celtic would expect Championships every season - just like Rangers did when they were the only ones spending. Scottish football has a bigger problem than Rangers going into administration. It needs root'n'branch work. A total redistribution of monies. I just can't see that happening. Despite all these tax and law experts in green telling us what administration means, I don't think any has a clue as to the machinations of why this is happening. I don't think it's anywhere as simple as 'Rangers have no money and Whyte doesn't know what he's doing'. I suspect he knows exactly where the club will be in 2 years time or so. However, I've no idea. But I'm pretty sure it won't be a league much different from what it is now. Unfortunately.
