  1. I have never ever read so many different opinions of the same game. FFS I have to write the report and everybody has a different view of who did what. Well, I must have been on the happy clapper pills as I thought with a liitle bit of good fortune we would have won that game convincingly. Alas our shooting is atrocious and Cammy Bell saved Killie on a number of occasions. I'll stick my head on the chopping block and offer my opinions of the days events. Esson, could have sat in the stand, had nothing to do until a late flurry of action after we equalised and Killie forced a few corners in succesion. Meekings was strong enough in the tackle, did not have much to do either, his game went unnoticed, so could'nt have done much wrong. Shinnie, allegedly was one of our better ones, never caught my eye but like Josh did nothing wrong. Rossco, was generally commanding, the usual misplaced passes but held firm when under pressure in time added on. Golobart scored a goal Messi would have been proud of, but got over it and oozed class, came back and bundled in the equaliser. Tade, better than recent poor performances but wasted a few effort, did try hard, maybe too hard. Tansey, also looked sharper than of recent, but really needs to get his boots on the right feet. Foran, close to my MotM for running himself to a standstill, should have scored when through but Bell saved well, Richie won't need reminding. Sutherland, again, he does try, and shoots on sight, but his sights are set too high I'm afraid, will do better with more experience. McKay, I thought did pretty well, twisted and turned and held up play well when ball was on the deck, no finish like the rest of them though. Winnall, unlike most I thought he looked pretty lively early on and him and McKay linked well, harshly hooked when others did less. Gnakpa, the only player everybody agrees on. He started great with a cameo against St Mirren, it's all downhill after that. Bye bye Ross, did enough to merit a start when he came on, if only he could finish as he is not wasteful when in possession. Tudur-Jones, must be getting cheesed off with last minute subby appearances. Not enough time to pass judgement Overall, we created enough chances to win half a dozen games, but our strike rate is laughable. I did think it was an entertaining enough game and the point was deserved, should have been three, Killie deserved absolutely nothing. Golobart was my Inverness MotM, followed by Foran and McKay............Bell was the real MotM though with some class saves.

  2. I'm pretty much of the same opinion as Sandy in regards the game. A neutral might have seen it as a fairly decent encounter..aside from the lack of goals. It wasn't all that dissimilar to our performance in the 6-3 game, although you wouldn't think it from some of the reports above. Just to add that I think far too many fans seem stuck in a mental rut whereby they seem to spend all their time looking for reasons to have a pop at this player or that player. Another thing that seems to stand out a mile is how local lads seem to be able to do no wrong in the eyes of our fans. It's something that caught my attention a few games ago but was as plain as the nose on your face today. Tokely, Ross etc play a stray ball and it's all claps and "good try son"...any of the rest play a stray ball, come up short or just over weight it and it's all "for feck sakes...where the hell did you find him, Butcher". I'm not talking about one or two in the crowd, I'm talking about large portions of the crowd spread around the whole ground.

  3. I was geeky enough to waste 20 minutes working out how many points we had after 29 games in each of our previous SPL seasons... P W D L F A PTS GD 2004-05 29 8 9 12 34 39 33 -5 2005-06 29 9 13 7 41 33 40 +8 2006-07 29 8 10 11 31 37 34 -6 2007-08 29 10 3 16 35 48 33 -13 2008-09 29 8 4 17 29 45 28 -16 2010-11 29 9 9 11 38 37 36 +1 2011-12 29 7 7 15 33 50 28 -17 Comes as a bit of a shock to discover we have the same number of points at this stage as the year we went down, and a worse goal difference to boot! Thank the lord for Dunfermline...

  4. Brought as back from the pit of despair that was the 1st Division and in some style, almost had us in the top 6 last season with a very strong return to the SPL, has tried to put his own team into practice and in the face of much adversity steared us off the bottom of the table. Like many i may not agree with everything he has done but it cant be denied that he has brought alot of success and notice to the Highlands and with one or two changes here or there he can still do that. Unlike many ive still got the utmost faith in him as a manager and still believe he is that right man to carry this club forward.

  6. IHE, that post is pi*h. Does you no credit son. Sitting there as the Lord of Chorley handing down sarky pseudopsychological judgements at Butcher is getting tiresome. Aye, we know we need a centre forward, aye things are tactically mince at times but at a club this geographically isolated, with the fanbase we have and the budget available what more do you realistically think we should have? How much better can we realistically be? Can we afford to go out and have our Tore Andre Flo moment? Nah, we tried that with Niculae and you didn't like that much either if I recall. We unearthed Rooney, but were we ever gonna keep him? Nah. So, yes, we have things to moan about right now, but perspective-please mate.

  8. Very frustrating to watch but in a way for all the right reasons. We never looked like scoring against United on Monday but today there were times were Killie quite simply couldnt get the ball of us. Weve lacked ruthlessness in front of goal alot this season and that reared its ugly head yet again today. Luck was just not on our side today and Kilmarnock must be one of very few sides to take a lead this season before registering an actual shot at goal. Must admit i have never seen such a spectacular looking OG in my life, wouldve been a terrific goal if it had been at the right end. The number of times we gave away posession was unbelievable but the fact we kept the pressure on Kilmarnock was good, however the longer it went on the more i felt a goal wasnt coming, especially after Foran missed his 1 on 1. He shoudlve scored but hats off to Cammy Bell, it was a terrific save. And from the corner an even better save from Foran before Billy hooked back in and Golobart had the easy task of just rolling it in. Was suprised to see us so defensive afterwards, it was the first time Killie really started to press and i feared they may snatch their lead back, fortunately it never came and i suppose given the way we huffed and puffed throughout i was content with a point, being content dosent necessarily make me happy though...not by a long shot. Few folks get a mention, Golobart who despite his one wee moment had a terrific game both as a defender and a great willingness to help start attacks, Winnall who i thought had an exceptional first start and was unlucky to be hooked so soon, and Foran who despite a few misshaps led the team well and helped drive them on for a result. Gnakpa should be slapped for his performance though, he was absolute gash when he came on, he was lazy, he was slow, and he showed no real willingness to get forward when he came on. If he carries on like that then he can feck off. Another negative is Shane on the wing, im sorry but this boy is not a natrual born winger, he is a target man, end of. Another real negative was Calum Murray who i thought had a dreadful performance as referee today, havent seen it on TV but thought when McKay round Bell that was a penalty, and towards the end Nick Ross was hacked down while run at the defence and Mr Murray simply waved play on. He let too many people off to easily. Needs to man up and no when to draw the line.

  10. Gregory Tade - 25 (first season in SPL) Billy Mckay - 23 (first season in SPL) Greg Tansey - 23 (first season in SPL) Shane Sutherland - 21 Sam Winnal - 21 (first season in SPL) Graeme Shinnie - 20 Nick Ross - 20 Roman Golobart - 19 (first season in SPL) Josh Meekings - 19 (first season in SPL) Call me a 'happy clapper' if you want but the fact is we just dominated an SPL game and came away with a draw, hardly a disaster. Some of the rants against the team on this forum are totally over the top. We had a major rebuilding job in the summer and now have a young, inexperienced squad which has fought its way from relegation favourites to midtable despite our worst ever run of injuries and suspensions. Young players need patience and support, not unrealistic expectations and abuse.

  11. also remember the season we went down, was quite exceptional, as we went down with a record points total. Two others are struggling below us this season too. Think that 9 points should be enough of a start with 9 games left

  12. True to my word, a prize draw has been made, and the winner of Rangers FC is.........IHE. To collect your prize you need to go in person to Ibrox, preferably next time there is a baying mob outside, and as proof of ID please reveal all your tattoos.

  13. I have actually gone for "fairly satisfied" because I do not feel that you can simply ignore the bad luck and injuries that we have suffered this season and the problems with the likes of Hayes and Doran have led to us losing shape and the forward motion and easy ball attitude. Terry is a fantastic "ambassador" for the club but I would prefer to have him as a Director of Football and have a manager with more tactical nous at the helm. I only wish that I could have a few sessions with him to work on the Narcisstic personality deficits.

  14. Worst player on the park Gnakpa. Not interested and I agree with previous post(s) that he should never get a start again. Best player on the park Billy McKay, he is the only player in our team who can take and hold a ball. What he needs is someone to play close to him and feed of his distribution. Player most needed, OTJ, . Butcher is making a fool of him by giving him 30 seconds at the end of each game.

  16. My thoughts (after putting up with the pish on show on Alba) I don't know who it was who said Tansey and Foran were both good but have a word with yourself, eh? Both absolutely rotten. Gnakpa must never, ever pull on a caley top ever again. I don't even want him on our bench. Just get him out. We must sign Golobart.

  17. We had 17 shot to killies 3 and were by far the better side the only thing we lacked was a ruthless streak as butcher pointed out in his interview we've played much worse than that and won How many of those shots were on target or came anywhere near being goals? Killie were nothing special either and really should've been there for the taking. No different than the team that played rangers? Yeh only winnal, golobart, tokely, and Sutherland? (correct me if Sutherland did play against rangers) it was a totally different side. I meant the attitude and effective-ness of the team. Some thing never change. It's fair to say not everything worked for foran but he wasnt awful, he put in a c**t of a shift today. No player was awful today effective-ness? sorry but against rangers we conceded 4 goals and 20+ shots the defense was definatly more effective thats not to mention our shots. as for the shots on target we had 8 times more than killie. and attitude? did you not see the drive from foran today to get on the end of the corner which led to the goal and get to the through ball to create the one on one which admitidly he should of put away but bell done well aswell. again we are back to the point of foran working his arse off. he led the team magnificently it wasnt about what he done when he got the ball today it was about what he done to get the ball his attitude was top class. he could hardly run by the time he was subbed off. like him or not no one in our squad has more desire than him. '' '' thats contructive.

  18. One of the most frustrating games I've ever witnessed! The standard of finishing shooting was frankly embarrassing. To have time and space to get a shot away and yet not even hit the target is unforgiveable at any level of football let alone spl !!

  19. Foran terrific! Thought he had an absolute howler. Couldn't do anything right though he did play his part on the build up to the goal. Not everything worked but no one could ignore the shift be put covered every blade of grass and for that I will say he was brilliant He led the team well IMO showing desire and passion to win By the end he was absolutely shot

  20. I achieved the dubious honour of getting a rollicking from Malpas today, after criticizing the Tade-Gnakpa substitution. If he takes offence to me shouting "You must be joking", then goodness knows how he would cope with more vociferous and abusive and less forgiving home supports than ours. I suppose we weren't any worse than against Rangers and Dundee United, but we were pretty dreadful again, particularly in the second half. A draw against a threadbare Killie side is nothing to celebrate, in my opinion. We started the game well but for the umpteenth game in a row we failed miserably in the final third. The freak own goal from Golobart knocked the stuffing out of us, and I thought we were rotten for long periods in the second half. How TB chose to hook Tade, who was unique amongst the attacking players in that he looked like he gave a damn, instead of the lacklustre McKay, the invisible Sutherland and the atrocious Winn-feck-all is beyond me, and since Gnakpa was absolutely brutal when he came on, I feel justified in my criticism. About the only thing the boss got right today was throwing on Nick Ross, who provided an element of flair that we didn't have. What does Tudur Jones have to do to get a game? Tansey was utterly awful again, Foran ran a lot but achieved little, yet Jones, in a game tailor-made for a player who could put a foot on the ball and pass it around, was left kicking his heels until being brought on pointlessly in the 92nd minute. Depressingly the only player who looked comfortable on the ball in the entire team was not a forward, nor a midfielder, but Roman Golobart. After the own goal, his attitude and application were commendable. Killie must be kicking themselves. They played for 1-0 and got caught out, yet when they started attacking again after our equalizer they created chances at will. If they had given it a go for 90 minutes they would have won with something to spare. We needed at least a point today to stop the rot, but this result doesn't even begin to paper over the cracks. The same problems are still there, but this Kilmarnock team failed to take advantage of them. As said above, this now has to be seen now as one point nearer to safety.
