I have deleted a flippant comment I put on here earlier. I saw Gringo Jnr's post without having seen the OP and as a result thought this was a flyer for a commerial event and was not aware that this event is, in fact, being organised by hard working volunteers in order to raise the profile of the Supporters Society and for the good of ICT. I do appreciate the commitment and hard work that volunteers put into such events and therefore apologise unreservedly for any offence my comment might have caused. I'm not a boxing fan myself but please accept my best wishes and hopes for a very successful event.

This thread is a wee bit cringeworthy I think. Do we ever hear old firm fans, or even aberdeen fans, complaining about not getting a singing section organised for away games at TCS or GES ? No, cos everyone sings ! Surely the singing section against our wee neighbours should be the WHOLE away end not just a few seats in the middle ! Altogether now, "The wheels on your house . . . . . . . "

Back to Foran's fault again, I'm sure some folk have their posts written before waiting for a day like Sunday to use them. He gets pissed off when getting beat, does anyone really think that footballers can't take criticism from their own team mates? The best teams I played in had a strong vocal presence and that's what he is. Plus a pretty good player on a great scoring streak before his injury. For those who don't think we need to strengthen let Sunday be a lesson. We have a paper thin squad and need to get in some experience. It can be done with no money, it's a great shop window as Draper etc are able to testify. We are still a bottom 4 team who have been punching above our weight and been fortunate with not too many injuries. Keep the faith but ca canny with the over criticism and over optimism when things are going well - it's a long season ahead and despite poor support the team continues to try to entertain.

I grew up supporting the club when crowds of 1500-2000 were the norm. I think im fairly right in saying the first home game after feb 8th there was an attendance of 1700 or something lol. Saturday was the 1st time in 8 years we dropped below 3000 and only by 52 or something. I see some people have joked about people not making the game bcz of being at the kirk, well i know of quite a few where that was indeed the reason. I had work along with no doubt a few others. Not to mention that its a month before christmas and folk are obviosly saving and lastly, it was on the telly! I'll worry if our next home game is below the 3000 mark but, for now, im not to worried! On the thing about Invernessians not supporting us. I disagree, i think theres a fairly large home support or a large number of locals who wish us well. Its just peoples expectations have changed and just expect us to be in the SPL and the 'new' novelty has gone. There is no rush to go watch us now. (Thats why i think there was a massive home crowd for the derby, its been along time since there was a derby). Likewise we now expect to see 3000-4000 at TCS when its not that long ago that was unheard of.

Well its good that the club use up spare seats by kindly donating them to the youth, its definitely the long term solution.

The Legends team is shaping up to be a strong one. They have 15 confirmed Legends already and a few others are willing to play their part should they be available. Here's a few names to tickle the taste buds and I think you'll agree it's shaping up to be a cracking line-up for the Fans to compete against. Managed by our Third Division Winning Captain, Mike Noble, we'll see a legends team involving Jim Calder, Barry Wilson and Charlie Christie. Also taking part is former ICT Manager John Robertson, who will feature alongside Alan Hercher. The Legends' full line-up will be announced closer to match day, as will the names of all the fans taking part in what will be a fantastic day! The Fans team is coming along nicely and they will not shy away from the challenge. They will have a formal training session on Thursday 6th December conducted by an ICT coach in preparation for the big day. Kick Off for the match is SUNDAY 9th DECEMBER, 1330hrs and Spectator Entry is by Donation on the day.

Perhaps as a punishment the contestants could use Doofers Dad as a human punchbag in the dressing room area. I fer one would be delighted to sponsor such an innovation.

This is far from over....my thoughts on what may happen from here..... 1. HMRC will appeal. 2. Liquidators announce that if decision is upheld they will pursue those in receipt of "loans". 3. Those in receipt of "loans" think ...."sod this, I'm not coughing up"....and start to spill on the real nature of the payments. 4. FTT decision is overturned and HMRC get the outcome they want/need to now pursue others who've done the same. Make no mistake...this case was never about the HMRC getting any money from Rangers. There's far bigger fish they want to fry over the use of EBT's and Rangers is just the test case and will set the precedent.

Good player, yes, but legend? Hardly. I feel this word is banded about far too easily, and often these days. For the reasons you quoted yourself (ie his nasty side) I would never view him anywhere near legend status. Anyway, have we really missed him? Arguably Hayes and maybe A Shinnie have been his equal, or better at times.

Some interesting thoughts here but whilst one or two have obviously got a handle on why we have a low fan base, I don't think anyone has explained why crowds appear to worse than last year when we are generally playing some pretty good stuff. On the face of we should have had a really good crowd against Motherwell given our league position, the quality of football we've played, the number of goals we've scored and the fact that it was a nice day. Instead we got our lowest home SPL crowd ever at TCS. Was this simply the fact that the game was on TV and folk simply saved their pennies by not going? After all, it's not as though the atmosphere at TCS makes it more attractive to actually be there. That may explain Sunday's crowd but the concern is the general poor level of support. There is simply no tradition of supporting the club in the City. The population is also very mobile with many youngsters having moved away whilst the City is full of incomes who have alleigences to other clubs and may just go to the odd match if they've nothing else to do. The core support is very low and it is going to have to be nurtured every inch of the way. If the club moans about the fans all that will do is to allienate the few who go. What is needed is a concerted long term effort of working in the community, improving the match day experience, continuing to play atractive football, making the most of the big occasions, maximising the non football side of the business. To be fair, the club has been doing a lot of this over the years but it needs to keep soldiering on. Over a period of many years the club may slowly but surely win increasing numbers of followers if the profile is maintained, but on the other hand, there may be a further drop. What is certain is that without trying to maintain a high profile in all these ways attendances will fall further and that will impact on the players we can bring in. Without wishing to go over old ground (too much ) the main reason we cannot sustain crowds is that there is no atmosphere and the main reason there is no atmosphere is the design of the stadium. I know we have what we have and there is absolutely no chance of financial planning to improve things at the moment, but IMHO we do need to keep this on the back burner. If some benefactor ever comes in with serious money we absolutely would not want to burn it buying short term success, what is needed is to get rid of our apology of a ground and build a nice compact stadium that enclosed the pitch and contained the sound. But I doubt it will ever happen in my lifetime. Meanwhile I'll continue to support my team and shout "great ball" to the dolphins.

I completey accept Scotland could be helped by a non-Scots manager. It would also help Scotland to have better non-Scottish players. I agree with Craig Brown - the selection criteria for the most important person, the manager, should be no different from the players. Without that, it's pointless calling it a national team. Might as well just be a club, not a nation.

Incorrect. Levein had one of the best pools of players since France 98. He was the man who the chose dreadful 4-6-0, he was the man who acted appallingly throughout is tenure, in interviews and what not. And don't get me started on his dress sense! This idea that "Scotland have rubbish players and thus the manager will make no difference" is factually incorrect. Norway didn't exactly have a great pool of players in the 1990s, yet they were at one stage second in the Fifa rankings. How did they do that? Tactics. Greece had a pool probably somewhat better than Scotland's at Euro 2004, but still nothing compared to other countries and were 100-1 to win it prior to the start of the tournament, yet they managed to do it. How? Not by luck, but tactics. And for someone based in New Zealand, I'm sure you also watched the All Whites perform admirably during the last World Cup, despite being classed in the British press as "rubbish" prior to the tournament. They were the only team to remain undefeated throughout the thing and had they scored one more goal would have qualified for the next round. The tactics Ricki Herbert used were one of the reasons for this, and on another day, his 3-4-3/4-3-3 system which made New Zealand an almost impenetrable force would've seen them through. That's what Scotland need, an astute tactician who get results. Ricki Herbert for Scotland! Nominate this for post of the month! I agree entirely, apart from the last sentence. If nationality doesn't matter, why not just support Spain? If we did we'd just be glory hunting scumbags like the vast majority of old filth followers. Following our loves of ICT and Scotland makes sure we enjoy the (few) successes even more when they do happen!
