I'll throw my hands up and say I was having serious doubts about Butcher and the team earlier this season. It is now obvious that I was wrong. I'm looking forward to the game on Tuesday night and I am very positive about the way things are going. My one regret is that I can't get to more games due to being away most of the time. So to everyone at ICT I'm sorry I doubted you. Keep up the good work!4 points

As long as you remember this when we have our next wee blip/bad run. We're in this for the long haul remember. Good/bad, ups/downs, highs/lows - but always as fellow ICT fans. O2B!!2 points

The only way we'll get 1,500 more than our capacity is if we get Elgin to distribute the tickets.2 points

Bugger with that is that we don't give home-grown youngsters a place on the bench at least, even at u20 or u19 level, as far as I know, if we ever got told the squads..which we don't......the crap internet presence we had, before we got "bigger and better" and landed here, at least acknowledged that we had squads other than the first team one...this new set up doesn't...if you are not in the "squad list" , which appears to mean having warmed the bench at some stage, even if you never actually play you just don't exist as far as ICT is concerned. Are we destined to be a club which brings on the youngsters for the likes of Arsenal and ignores our own kids? Is ICT destined to be a nursery for the English and Irish leagues and not for ourselves. Are we happy about that? If a large proportion of our kids are so abysmal, why are they here at all.....why are we forking out to have a youth system at all? Have to say I've been very gradually been becoming less of a happy clapper, because over the last couple of seasons, I'm getting more inclined to believe that Butcher thinks if you don't play for an English team at any level, you are simply not worth considering. ICT is not just about the 1st team squad winning matches, however much that makes supporters feel justified in supporting, but should have some element of bringing up the future possibilities, .because if we are employing people who appear, according to Butcher, to be producing kids who are not capable of even sitting on the bench........why are we paying their wages at all?1 point

Crap website ... but best Fish 'n' Chips in Toronto as far as I am concerned ..... St andrews's Fish and Chips : http://www.standrewsfishandchips.com/ Others claim to be authentic, but just seem over-priced and underwhelming ! As for Inverness or on my travels with ICT in the past .... the one out on Glenurquhart road was about the best on previous trips home although Hilton Chippie was also good .... and I cant remember if it was Auchterarder or elsewhere, but coming back up the road I always remember stopping somewhere and going to a chipper just off the main street up a small hill .... those were good ! Never been a fan of Harry Ramsdens - always thought them over-hyped, and although cooked well, portions and fish size were very hit and miss, especially considering the price1 point

So another 6000 extra required for our next home game and the points will be in the bag, simples!1 point

Sadly a good fish supper is very hard to come by in many towns and cities of the UK. The main reason, I believe, is the use of vegetable and rapeseed oils. These just dont give the same flavours as good old animal fats. Then of course there's the newspaper issue. The aroma coming through the newspaper set the tastebuds going long before the food reached the mouth.1 point

Just about feckin sober - what a feckin away day. We decided not to go back to the London Road Tavern after the game !! I spoke to a lot of Cellic fans on the train home and they were full of praise for us rather than slagging their team off. Just a reminder after reading through these posts. We didnt have a bad day at the office we had 200 minutes of dreadful football. We had 200 minutes of lining up four people across an imaginary 30 yard line from our goals. We had people playing as if they had never met each other before and the majority showing little if any zest or determination to play for the shirt. The last 20 minutes at Kllie could be excused by tiredness after the midweek Ibrox heroics but the next TWO games were abysmal - both at home on a Sunday and in front of a nationwide TV audience. The only feckin virus that I suffered was feckin embarassment. So what happened yesterday. Well the committment was clear for all to see. The "thrill" of playing at Parkhead and playing Cellic may well have spurred a few on. Plus they had something to prove. But to me there were some tactical changes. The back four held a much higher line and Raven and Shinnie both played in a defensive mode and were covering the central pairing. Warren took on the centre half role and meekings was more of deeper sweeping partner. Doran and Roberts played deeper but always went wide when we had the ball and the others looked to feed them instead of hoofing. Foran was immense, back in the central midfield position and he was the worker which allowed OTJ a bit more space. A.Shinnie was given a roving role and that was evident in the last 20 when cellic began to tire. The pace of Roberts and McKay scared Cellic. McKay was not played as a target, he sat on the last Cellic defender. Cellics shooting was also very, very poor but we pressed the ball this week and we never stood off and let people shoot. REGUERO   I will give him MOM. He could have been shaky after the end of Well game but he didnt feckin show it. Cellics shooting gave him a helping hand but he also made 2-3 great saves although he does love to showboat. But to me it was his energy that impressed me and he always looked to play a quick, simple ball. RAVEN   An example of consistency and confidence personified. WARREN   Thought that he was also immense. Played in the role of a more traditional center half but won everything. MEEKINGS   Played his part, allowed Warren to take the lead, but a fine supporting role. G.SHINNIE   Evidently told to think more about the defensive side of his game. Not as attack minded as usual but a lot more effective as a full back. ROBERTS   He could quite a bit of stick and i bet many would have preferred him to be warming the bench when he put in a glorious cross for the winner. He is far from the finished article and I still dont think he is comfortable playing wide but - how may times was he the "out" choice for the others ? - how many times did he hug the touch line and actually take people on ? - How many times did he plough a lonely furrow and ate up the seconds ? Shure he fecked it up as much as he succeeded but his mere pace shook that Cellic defence and they ended up double marking him at times. FORAN   Captain fantastic again. He always gives that type of performance when he is in the feckin middle of it when we have our backs to the walls. Puts Brown in to the shade. OTJ   Looked far more comfortable beside Foran who did all the dirty work and allowed OTJ some space and time and the opportunity to sneak forward. DORAN   A bit like Roberts to me although he looks far more comfortable on the ball and gave Cellic the willies when he drifted inside. But what a feckin miss MCKAY   Great shift which probably went unnoticed to many but he is a natural goalscorer and should have added to his tally. Again the Cellic central defenders found him a handful because of his constant movement and he was played on the feckin shoulder of the last defender instead of being a nullified target.1 point

Think we need to add a "Where we work" section to profiles so we can all go round each others work and boo the feck out of people when they have a one off bad day.1 point

Does anyone else think that Terry handled last week perfectly? It seems like he knows his players and thought they had earned that type of reaction from him. He was equally grounded after today's result and I think this season he is playing a blinder. People are right to criticise after a defeat but I don't think any of our players deserve to be singled out to the extent Foran was when things go bad. Brilliant today boys and another game we have scored in.1 point

If we can get Hogg back early next year thats better than a new signing for me. Unless we have a vast array of hidden funds and can bring in real high quality players then its better spent on thse we have and new contracts - the team is showing its starting to gel even after a poor result at the wknd, who knows if we keep the team together for another season we may be able to push on further.1 point

This thread is a wee bit cringeworthy I think. Do we ever hear old firm fans, or even aberdeen fans, complaining about not getting a singing section organised for away games at TCS or GES ? No, cos everyone sings ! Surely the singing section against our wee neighbours should be the WHOLE away end not just a few seats in the middle ! Altogether now, "The wheels on your house . . . . . . . "1 point
-
Surely its actually better that there isn't a singing section and everyone who says they want to sing are spread out cos that way the whole away end will be bouncing and not just one tiny section??? Getting a good atmosphere at away games has never been a problem so don't really know what the fuss is about1 point

Caley Jags Together are not "self acclaimed" in any way, shape or form. They are a group of fans...now numbering in excess of 300...with a democratically elected board. If you, or anyone else, is not satisfied with the work being done by those board members, then there's nothing whatsoever standing in the way of you coming forward and putting yourself up for election or volunteering your time to help. We haven't always got it right and we haven't always been able to achieve the things we would like...but we are at least trying. If some people put as much time and effort into helping as they put into coming on here criticising the efforts of others and making demands of them....then ICT would easily be able to achieve everything we want, and more. After all....it's not Rocket Science!!!!1 point

I for one am confident that the ancient nation of Scotland is more than capable of prospering on our own. I fear, however, that the scaremongering and downright dishonest unionists will win the day in 2014. However, rather like the battle for devolution, that setback will be but temporary and Scotland will be independent within two decades.1 point
-
Can we find a negative word to replace "unionist' then? I mean it's only fair. Obviously some people would say 'feartie' but I genuinely believe that to be unfair. Something along the lines of 'better the devil you knowist'. CB, obviously we've crossed swords in the past and I respect most of the points you (rather aggessively) make whenever this issue is raised. However I don't see where you get 'declining minority' from. Minority yes, and even over certain time scales you can show that support for INDEPENDENCE has fluctuated, but the fact that the Nats have now shown themselves capable of being trusted with government is, at the very least, consolidation. There's no sign yet of them losing the next one either. Even without Salmond they would have a stronger team than Lamont & co.1 point

Absolutely. Q: When is a separatist not a separatist? A: When he wants to con people into believing that voting "Yes" isn't really any great deal so he calls it something else. Basically, if the separatist lobby are saying, as above, "there would still be the same links to England as today"... then why bother with this whole pantomime of a referendum? I mean I know there's been the strong suggestion that a separate Scotland would continue with the pound since no one in their right mind would go into the Euro and a separate Scottish Groat would quickly go the way of the Deutschmark in 1923 so that's their independent monetary policy up the spout from the start. That will continue to be governed by the Bank of England as it is now. Then, for instance, I'm also wondering what they are going to do to achieve the worldwide network of embassies and consular services which we currently, as British people, enjoy. Are you REALLY going to have Scottish embassies with a huge picture of Alex Salmond in the front hall in every country in the world as Britain (but without the Salmond pictures - thank goodness!) currently has. And that's just the start but I'll leave the rest to the Better Together campaign's manifesto which will presumably appear at some point during the mindnumbing two years we still have to suffer of this unsettling distraction. For goodness sake, if things are working fine as they have been for 300 plus years as part of a bigger unit, why bother separating off from that simply to run all the risks which come with being a smaller one just to satisfy some kind of political dogma. Talking of that period of history, we frequently and rightly criticise the Orange Lodge for glorifying battles which took place more than 300 years ago. But now we are going to be confronted with a referendum, the timing of which looks suspiciously manpulated to coincide with (among other things) the anniversary of a battle which took place no less than 700 years ago. How simplistic can you get? You know fine well that seperatist has a very negative connotations. And you mock Scottish history while at the same time lauding the shorter British history. Is there any other nation in the world that would vote for their country to be controlled and run by another nation, which in effect is what happens in Scotland. England is the larger and the large will rule the small. Think of it this way. If Scotland was an independent nation today and not mearly 'North Britain' how many Scots would vote yes to join the union. What would be the benifits in that? A minority in parliament of the Scottish vote, the parliament based miles away in another nation, the interests of that nation placed first, hand over all our revenue, including oil and gas, just to receive a smaller percentage of what we generated back to us in nothing more than pocket money. And you would be foolish to believe the tripe of what ever is going to come out of the better together campaign. What have we had already, england bombing scottish airports, William Hague refusing to promote Whisky, taking the pandas back ffs. We were betrayed before and told that Scotland would be like Bangladesh in the 1970's if we ever had the nerve to become independent while at the same time the people telling us this classified the Mcrone report where they withheld the truth to the people. The truth that the uk govt knew that Scotland would be considerably more wealthy and prosperous that the rest of the uk in the event of independence, but what we were told in public is the same lies that people believe today. I even watched a debate programme on devolution from 1997 recently and the arguments against a Scottish 'parliament' were that Scotland would become poorer, all buissness would leave Scotland etc etc doom and gloom. You would think people would get bored of this negative nonsense by now.1 point
