The point that St Johnstone won last Monday against Dundee Utd meant that 5 teams were confirmed in the top 6. The SPL at that point should have been able to work out the fixtures for each of the remaining 4 scenarios and could have asked the TV companies and the police for their views on that. If the TV companies or Police were not prepared to discuss until the 6th team was confirmed then at least the SPL could have got the fixtures to TV and Police by 5pm on Saturday. With no OF derby there should be no major policing issues so it all seems rather shabby to me.

Maybe its all so complicated that they'll just cancel the rest of the season?

What pretty much all supporters want is a merger of the league bodies and the end of the SPL's ludicrous 11-1 majority voting requirement. Without overcoming those obstacles, nothing will ever change. The number of teams in the league is actually pretty irrelevant to me, because if it doesn't work then you can just change it. I think it would be really sad if we missed this opportunity for fundamental reform.

What's even more ironic is that two of the clubs who have been most vocal against the 11-1 are going to use it to their (perceived) advantage to prevent change!!! Or are using it to prevent what they perceive to be the wrong change! Seems to me from listening to Stewart Gilmour on the radio tonight that the biggest issue St Mirren has is the 11-1 voting structure remaining in place. Change is needed, but surely having a more balanced voting structure needs to be pushed through as a priority - before the old firm gang up together in a couple of seasons time?

The problem with haveing a good season is we expect the same high standards in every game which is not going to happen so we have to take the positives from the game and that being yes we played poorly but we still took a point and had a clean sheet - in seasons gone by we would have lost that game

Progress indeed. I have open in front of me Ian Broadfoot's ringbound volume of match reports for the first two years 1994-96. It is at the page "Saturday 20th August 1994 - Caledonian Thistle 0 Queens Park 4. Bell's Scottish League Third Division." which was CT's first league defeat. The crowd was1500 which by the turn of the year would drop to under 1000. The CT team that day was McRitchie, Brennan, McAllister, Hercher (MacMillan), Scott, Andrew, D. MacDonald, MacKenzie, Noble, Bennett (Hastings), Robertson. Unused - Gray. One week later there was a Third Division record crowd of 3157 in Dingwall for a scoreline of Ross County 1 Caledonian Thistle 3 which included nine yellow cards and two red (Gary Campbell of County and Mike Andrew of CT.)

Wonderful season, wasn't it? A real race for 2nd that's not over yet, interesting Cup semis and a boost for a region no one thought of. Did I forget anything?

Never mind 1994, if you'd said it back in the summer id have hit you. My expectations got blown away back in November when we sat perched at the top of the table alongside Celtic. Its just been incredible to see us make such a prominent rise this season, to the point where European football is a distinct and realistic possibility. Even after witnessing a match like last night i can just laugh it off because we are in such a great position. Its a strange and bizarre feeling but its also great. Its testament to all the happy clappers who perdicted this season would be better, and Richie Foran who promised us that at the end of last season. Whether we can repeat it next season will be the big question so best thing to do is just lap it up now and enjoy it. I know i certainly am.

Tade played right wing, said it all about their tactics, he still gets more in a first touch than he does in any shot ive seen. We struggled to get any space last night, got closed down very quickly but we were still unlucky not to score. OTJ nearly had another screamer and Draper was thwarted by a terrific save by Alan Mannus. After County's arse dropping today we are still very much front runners for Europe so come on folks lets make it happen, atmosphere last night was incredible, a few more games with that kind of backing and the lads will pick up results to make the dream a reality, no question about that.

Good article and I certainly never imagined I would see ICT so close to European football in my lifetime! Not sure about the shift of power in the long run but certainly this season yes! The 2 Edinburgh clubs, Aberdeen, Utd must be embarrassed that they haven't managed to capitalise on Rangers leaving! Tough sh*t I say ICT & C*unty have

St Johnstone made it very difficult for us to do anything. Yet again people are walking out of the stadium complaining. At the start of the season our main objective was to stay in the SPL. Yet, people are moaning because we have DRAWN, not lost, but drawn to a good St Johnstone side. Tonight, during the game we were discussing contenders for ICT's POTY and there were at least 7. That shows how good a season it has been. 5 games to go, 15 points to play for, so lets really get behind the boys instead of constantly being negative about the team. Also, thought i should say that it was great to hear section E and it would be excellent if we could get the whole stand doing that.

Why shouldn't we talk about it? Whats the point of a ICT football forum if we can't talk about possible future events which are quite exciting to discuss. This forum has NO effect on the players and management, it doesn't add pressure or relieves any, it's just a place where people chat about ICT. If we don't qualify for Europe I'm sure Terry won't be saying "It was the fault of people on CTO for adding unnecessary pressure on the boys".

isnt it odd that nobody cared when Di Canio was manager in the lower leagues of England - governed by the same FA body and reported by the same sections of the media.

If Reguero wants to go to Kilmarnock for the lifestyle, friends etc then fair enough. But am I the only one wondering how Kilmarnock are able to make bigger contract offers than us with the amount of debt they have and after saying without Rangers in the SPL they would be put out of business. Even this season they have been greeting saying they are close to going under. I'm proud we operate within our means but it also makes me angry seeing us get shafted by rival clubs with a mountain of debt.
