Ah! You were in the tunnel of love when it all came to a shuddering end? I suppose the twin towers was another "JFK" event. Hopefully you were doing something different then because as I remember, it was a weekday afternoon and not a Sunday morning.1 point

So what's the "JFK moment" for younger generations? Probably the death of Diana. I vividly remember what I was doing when that news broke on the radio, but this being a family website.....1 point

I feel Marsella had a bit more dignity than the other two - I sense that he didn't think he'd be going until after the game at Hibs and he said on MFR that he was scouting for ICT up to yesterday and passed on info to KC (although obviously takes the knowledge with him too. I have less animosity for him than the other 2 tw@ts.1 point

Something else to ponder, perhaps it has already been mentioned, is that our club has additional hotel expenses for the team. Whilst Hearts players have a cozy night in their own beds and wake up fresh, ICT will try to sleep in some strange bed at a huge additional cost to the club. Is that fair? There is no way that ICT could travel down to Auld Reekie on the Sunday morning.1 point

In these days of equality, aren't we obliged to have 3? One that swings left, one that swings right and one that swings both ways!1 point

I doubt they will be putting in realistic bids in January but might try to lure one or two when out of contract. I am sure Petrie's strategy in signing Butcher and his team is for them to sign players for Hibs in the same way they have for us. It's a low cost strategy because there is no money to throw around. Hibs is a bigger club and is not so far away for most folk and therefore there would be a realistic expectation of finding it a little easier to attract players to Hibs than it was here. Any money Hibs have needs to be spent on keeping the players they want to keep and not on transfer fees.1 point

No timescale. But it could be sooner than we think! If one of the guys being in interviewed this week impresses, he could be there for the cup tie against Morton.1 point

You have NO chance of getting the council to alter their plans, they have already sold the land/agreed outline planning permission to developers along the route to the new bridge/crossing. I would imagine brown envelopes dropping into letter boxes a few years ago to 'help' the decision making process. Also keep an eye on how much this will end up costing by the completion of the project - not far less than the high bridge / torvean bridge plan i'll bet. These b'stards should be made to resign if it does!1 point

No, I think the problem lies with us discussing what is now past history rather than focusing on the glorious future. And the glorious future starts with revenge against the fermers on saturday.1 point

Well that plan worked. 0-0 FT Should have known the underdog would do well. I know your pain Yngwie. My folks left me home alone during Italia 90 to cruise around the carribean. They gave me £100 to survive for the month which I immediately stuck on Ireland to beat Egypt at odds of evens. Game finished 0-0. Haven't bet on football since.1 point

Of the names going around I have no idea who I would prefer as Manager , But let's spare a thought for Alloa fans ,them being in a lower league as we have been in their position and it's very unsettling hearing that another team are interested in your current Manager .!!!1 point

I always had a problem with Sutton as a player, he'd cheat and elbow his way through matches but then put on that spoilt brat screwed up look when he got booked lol.1 point

Apparently when he took over at Alloa they only had one player on their books. Sterling job, IMHO.1 point

Having researched Paul Hartley's stats I'd be really happy to see us take a punt on him. Didnt realise Alloa were 3rd division when he took over. With the cup looming we need a winner in the dugout. With 2 promotions to his 2 and a half year career as a manager, as well as his side flying high in the 1st Division (screw off, Im not saying Championship) he would bring a winning mentality into the dressing room as well as an eagerness to succeed and prove himself at the highest level. Amongst all the names that are flying about he is the one that is standing out for me now.1 point

The banter on this topic has been tremendous, but should it now be "retired"? It would be kind of appropriate that, just like Butcher's reign, it ends in farce.1 point

Although I would like Paul Sturrock to get the job I'd be happy with Paul Hartley or Paul Sheerin too. So in short... Paul! OR... How about a joint team of John Robertson, Paul Sheerin, George Burley and Ritchie Foran? "John, Paul, George and Ringo!"1 point

Yes. The full text of the letter sent to the SPFL is now on line at http://www.ictsupporterstrust.co.uk/ We'll publish the reply that we get, and any of the letters of support that we have requested - and there's a few of them. We were featured in nearly every scottish daily today, on sportsound last night and we're not finished yet. We need our fans at this game, and we will find a way to get them there in comfort and safety. Thanks for your support. Davie Balfour1 point

Yes, but it would also imply that Butcher had not been as honest with Foran as Foran would like. Foran said that he was surprised Butcher had not got his contract with ICT tied up. Well, the reason for that was because big Tel wanted out the door. I think Butcher's character has become a lot clearer to people this last week. He uses people. He is as nice as anything when it suits him but then casts them aside when they are no longer of value to him. Foran is just the sort of player Butcher likes and therefore he has nurtured him and supported him over the years. But Foran is getting on a bit and will only have a couple more seasons at best at the top level. Butcher might come in for Foran if he thinks he can do a job for Hibs in next season but as soon as Foran has lost that bit of pace he'll just toss him aside. If Foran want to do his coaching qualifications then he would be far better to stay here where the club is supportive of those who are loyal to the club. Richie, if a big guy with with a wide eyed stare and a green tie comes offering you the pleasures of Leith - just say No.1 point
