storm in a teacup IMHO .... What Hughes says to the press and what he says to the players are two different things and most of it is open to interpretation depending on your particular viewpoint. What really matters occurs on that big green space in front of the dugout and that's what I will judge him on ........

Im sorry but this is turning into a witch hunt of Hughes. The majority have been against his appointment and then since then anything that he can be criticised about they have got there teeth stuck in. So what if he says that a lot of people said the same thing before last season who assumed our first finish in the top 6 was a one off. Im sure Hughes knows we are capable of better and I remember him saying he wants to take us back to the final after last years so i'm sure he does have greater ambitions.

Are you seriously suggesting that if he said the things you mention, it would encourage more people to attend matches. In my opinion, the people of Inverness just do not want to come out in numbers to support the team each week. Even when we were plating really attractive football, scoring goals and at the top of the league at the start of last season, the crowds did not pick up. Unless people start coming along on a more regualr basis, we will have more seasons outwiith the top 6 than within down to purely financial issues that could be helped if more supporters came through the gates.

If anyone has read any of my posts about Yogi you may be surprised by my take on this. I think his interviews can come over very differently when written down than in the way it was actually said. It's hard to show a smile or a tongue in cheek remark that has been implied when in the written press.

Personally I think Hughes should not be allowed to speak to the press. Nothing he says encourages me to go to the games and I have been a season ticket holder for 20 years. Nothing about the most exciting league in years. Nothing about the fact there is very little between the teams. Nothing about ICT are up for this season battle. Bring it on, ICT are ready! Where is the aspiration, Where is the inspiration, Where is the motivation.

He actually makes a bit of sense, the Scottish Premiership is an unpredictable league - a few changes can hoof sides up the league or drag them down. Aberdeen finished bottom six clearly and then bounced back to nearly take second last season. County had a fantastic season in 12-13 and then came pretty close to going down last time out. I doubt he's telling the players to settle and be negative. I'm more worried about what he's telling players to do on the pitch - emphasis ball retention, slowing the game down etc.
  7. The story appears to be that the player wasn't registered in the squad for the games against St Patricks, and so they did not count towards his suspension. It may be that as he was banned Legia didn't register him as he wouldn't have been able to play, not realising that the ban didn't count when he wasn't registered. They then registered him for the round against Celtic, knowing he had to be registered before the first leg to be able to play in the second, and so the first leg then counted as the first game of the suspension.
  8. Acceptable for me is seeing the lads going out and giving 100% every week.....and it's been a long time since we failed in that regard. Do that and, other than the odd dodgy decision by the ref, we'll get our just rewards. Can't ask for more than that, IMO.
  9. I've heard Oscar Pistorious has sacked his legal team and hired Celtiic. This way you can lose both legs and still win. (I'll get my coat)
  10. This happened a few seasons back. Does anyone else reckon Dermot Desmond has got pictures of Michel Platini holding hands with Jimmy Savlie or something?

I heard Yogi had a sausage roll at lunch the other day. Surely the f*ck*r now owes Morrissey an apology. Does anyone know what colour shoes he'll be wearing on Saturday? I'd like to have a moan about this too. It's only right. We, the fans, deserve better.

To be absolutely blunt, Yogi's personal target should be to still be our manager in January! If he achieves this, we will have played some good football and got some decent results. We have the squad to do this - in fact we have the squad to make Europe IMO - but only if they play in position and produce quality football (which is not judged by the quantity of passes!). The test of a good manager is the ability to listen to, and learn from his players, and to change things when they are not working. Here's hoping.....
  13. Let's now wait a week and find the SPFL will change the Celtic game again now they are back in the CL.
  14. We've been top 6 for 2 seasons in a row, have kept the squad intact with the younger players improving all the time, and the calibre of our opponents is weaker than ever. If we aren't top 6 again, we most definitely have the wrong manager in place.
  15. avoid relegation and finish above the gypos
  16. Very much agree with this. If are setting up with Doran playing of the left and potentially vincent and christie also with vincent on the right largely they all drift more central creating the space for the two fullbacks to get forward and deliver crosses. Shinnie is ideal to peform this exact role and David Raven is reasonably equipped to do so also on the right hand side.. Tremarco on the other hand is certainly not. I'd very much like to see us start with the below: Brill Raven Warren Meekings Shinnie Draper Tansey Doran Christie Watkins or Ross Mckay I feel Doran is of more use to us down the right hand side to allow him to deliver crosses into the area sooner rather than slowing the pace cutting inside from the left all the time. Watkins and Ross would be ahead in the picking order for me over Vincent. I'd prefer to see Nick Ross play and would anticipate that he would have played more under Hughes due to his ball retention ability over a guy like vincent but strangely isn't the case. Suspect we will see vincent/christie/Doran but would rather the above.
  17. Who precisely apart from some agitating journalists predicted that the English team was going to get booed ? That was never going to happen. One man's merciless caricaturing is another man's wry humour and the ability of an increasingly confident nation to be able to self deprecate. Just been watching this as I recorded it last week and it seems to have gone over some people's heads. The potential cringe was all there in the Barrowman/Dunbar opening song but the words were obviously a send- up of all the old stereotypes. Obviously trying to appeal to all tastes if not quite succeeding. I thought the Aimee MacDonald/People of Glasgow thing was very good, and I can see the logic in bringing in a huge star as contrast to finish the song, even if I went off Rod big time when he sold out around 1976. The 10 seconds or so of Andy Bloody Stewart segued brilliantly into 'Feel Real Close' by, well, only a global superstar, and a Scot, by the name of Calvin Bloody Harris! What percentage of the demographic would recognise Andy Bloody Stewart, let alone be offended by him And then there was Pumeza with Hamish's ode to Internationalism which would make a fine national anthem for Scotland. I see Dougie MacLean's doing Caledonia on Sunday night.
