  1. 2 x 49 seater coaches now booked for return transfer from Bucharest to Giurgiu. Waiting for confirmation of kick-off time before confirming cost but looks like it will only be about £10 per person. The above Event link currently takes care of about 50 of these 98 seats - add your details to the list if you want in. Coaches will leave from central Bucharest in plenty time for kick off and return to central Bucharest after the match.
  2. Love the fact we have more going to Romania that we take to Kilmarnock!

I understand that the club are reintroducing full match programmes this season for each home match. Whilst I understood the financial reasons behind the monthly magazine with just the wee one page insert for individual matches it was never, in my view, quite the same as having a proper programme. Well done to those concerned. A small step towards improving the match day experience.

  5. Very sad to hear about Nick's departure, but I'm sure that this move will be a successful one for him, although I hope it's not at our expense. It will be good for him to broaden his horizons on and off the pitch, but I hope he comes back to us one day in the future. He has been a wonderful role model for local youngsters showing that dreams can come true with self belief and a good work ethic. I'll never forget his goal in the League Cup Semi Final, a real local hero. Thanks Nick and best of luck.
  6. You haven't always said that, though!
  7. Where does everyone expect we're going to find a player within our budget, comfortable on the ball with either foot, can play anywhere across the midfield, SPFL experience in a top 6 side and only 23 years old? Anyone that is brushing this aside as "no great loss" is underplaying how good a player Ross is... he might not have secured a regular first team place but whenever he was called on he was excellent. If the board had invested in him with a major contract and shown commitment then there's every chance he could have taken the club on over the next few years. Now if ever is the time to invest ... not lose players to our rivals ffs!! We could deal with losing a player like Ross on his own but after losing Shinnie, Watkins, Mckay and Ofere the team will take some patching up. We'll obviously bounce back ...always do but with our first venture into European competition we should be at our strongest not limping into our first game.

Oh dear !!! Partick Thistle ! even made it onto Canadian TV !! http://www.tsn.ca/video/worst-play-of-the-day-1.315455 at least ours kicked its arse !
  9. Even more lazy journalism. Just noticed on our bbc sports page that it says our next match is the league fixture against motherwell, not the europa game. Where as the other 3 teams involved in europe have their qualifier game as next fixture. Even more proof of central belt bias trying to erase our achievements me thinks???

"JR is an attacking left sided player can play wide midfield or left back. On his day can be an exciting player and delivers a great cross. Can be inconsistent though and has a tendency to be petulant too- has been sent off a few times in his career. I think he is maturing though and is a decent prospect." I got this info from a good source who used to work at Aldershot.
  11. no, please leave a comment. the comment facility is available to all ... theres a tab next to the review one. if it doesnt work, try a different browser.
  12. From Bucharest in your pocket Romania’s currency is the leu (plural lei), divided into 100 bani. Leu notes come in denominations of 500, 200, 100, 50, 10, 5 and 1. There are also 50, 10, 5 and 1bani coins. €1 is cur - rently worth 4.44 lei. The best place to get your hands on lei is at an ATM. If you have to change cash, do it inside a bank. Credit and debit cards (MasterCard and Visa) are accepted almost everywhere. American Express cards are less widely accepted, but can usually be used in Bancpost ATMs. In most places I would use lei. roughly 5 lei = £1. Beer = 5-10 lei. A meal + drinks 50-100 lei If you take cash for exchanging it needs to be good quality English notes (no folds, pen marks etc) or euros. You will also need to show your passport and count it when you get it. NEVER change with someone who approaches you in the street, it'a a scam. If you have to change at the airport just get enough to get you to the town, the rate is rubbish. ****Look after your money etc. Romania is very safe for violent crime but there are a lot of expert pick pockets**** If you take a rucksack keep it to the front on buses etc as they will take a blade to it. Don't leave your phone on the table when out, you will be distracted and it will get lifted. A bit like Dingwall then.....
  13. Don't really understand the tears about the club not releasing anything about a charter. Get online and book it if your worried. Simple. Great work on the bus.
  14. Very disappointing that there has been no official announcement from the club yet about arrangements for the away leg, not that I can find anyway. Those of us who are keen to go have in the course of the last few days relied on the (helpful) experiences of past/existing ex-pats in Romania, our own on line bookings, a link to guidance given to Celtic fans last year, Google street view and various travel guides you can download. At least we got an extra 2 weeks notice than if it had not been a straight draw. However, it is coming up to the summer holiday period and getting time off from work and booking flights and accommodation becomes more difficult and expensive for all. It would have been helpful if we had more information about ticket availability and any potential travel restrictions. If, as was said above there should be plenty tickets then fair enough. I had also hoped to book a place on the club charter flight ,which might have taken some of the hassle out of making arrangements, but what the hell, I couldn't wait any longer and just went for it yesterday. Apologies for the above moan if I am missing some information appearing elsewhere.
  15. Thunderbox. Or am I taking this too far now??
  16. Well they finished 6th last term so it's not beyond the realms of possibility to repeat that feat.... Unfortunately for him, despite remarks from Yogi himself about being one of the clubs most technically gifted players, he'd dropped out of the first 11 reckoning and was often reduced to coming on to close games out. If he feels that moving to Dundee to get more game time will further his career and get him out of his comfort zone (Didn't realise our bench was that nice) then best wishes to him and may he have a long and successful career, and may I say that I'd happily welcome him back in an ICT shirt in the future. Good luck Nick!
  17. I can see why Nick needs a fresh start and like Graeme we wish him well. The goal he scored against Hearts when we were down to 9 men will always be one of our great memories.
  18. As a member of Caledonian back then, I 'happen to know' that the Caley wage bill in the 91-2 season was £130 000. Thistle can speak for themselves but Caley were a far more professional club than many lower-league SFL (as it was then) clubs. Evidence being their trepidation when the draw was made for the early rounds of the Cup when they knew they were as good as out. Mind you, you're probably right in that the HL did not have the quality in depth that the SFL lower leagues had, as Caley Thistle found out in 1994 when they were getting a hard fixture every week instead of getting large scores against the weaker HL clubs and only finished 6th out of 10, but apparently some other Highland club managed 3rd that year You say that remuneration does not correlate with ability but in football, which is largely the free market, it mainly does. SPFL players are not all full time. Maybe you mean the Premiership but as far as I know, part time clubs can reach the Premiership. The bottom two divisions are part time and I know that some of them are paying only about £60 p/w. I know this because I am involved with a Lowland League club and many players switch back and forward between the LL and League 2.
  19. That's that sort of 'flippant' remark that does nobody any favours, and could be inflammatory! ICT are not a continuation of Caledonian (Caley)! Inverness then, is unrecognisable to what it's like now - from a town of 30k to now 80k in such a small time-scale is incredible. Back in the 80s/early 90s, Inverness Thistle or Caley 'going to the wall' would have been a blow to the town. Not financially, but they were simply part of the fabric. For both to 'fold' at-the-same-time was unthinkable...it was a risk, and the 'timing' had to be right. The vacancy, after 20 years, with no further opportunity in sight, had to be taken. The 'risk' involved in dissolving two 'great' (locally) clubs was certainly right. The opportunity was there to apply (and be accepted) to the Scottish League - despite interest from Gala (as usual) and others, it was virtually a fait accompli. Yes, the town lost two major institutions in its proud history - but a new one has been formed, perhaps mirroring the growth in the now City of Inverness. To suggest Caley still exist is absurd and frankly, legally inaccurate. Yes, 'Caley' is often used as the name for ICT, but that of course, is just a nickname, based on the shortening of the word Caledonian in our name. Any inference to the former 'Caledonian FC (Caley)' is unfortunately mistaken! Interested to see how many ex-Caledonian fans would be in favour of the club re-naming as simply Inverness FC?
