Fer fecks sake - Did anyone see the first 2 or even the first 3 goals - All GREAT finishes - No answer to that. For the first 30 minutes there was little in that. Shure Robbo gotthe tactics wrong in the end BUT it was wholly understandable why he set out the team as he did. That was NOT a humiliation - We went behind to a better team and there was absolutely NOTHING straightforward about it. Cant believe that the "vultures" are circling already. The season STARTS next Saturday.

He deserves credit for turning things around over the last 6 months but Robbo has to carry the can for that one. We were on an 18 game unbeaten run and the system was changed to something designed primarily not to hammered. We very much got what we deserved with that. This defeat has further reaching consequences than just this 90 minutes. 1) the club has been deprived of much needed revenue from the next round particularly if we got a glamour tie that could have been shown on TV 2) how does this affect the players just a week from the season opener.
  3. Wetherspoons have imo cracked the market in value for money. A curry and 5 pints (if you can take as much) for £20 and 3 to 4 hours craic with your mates in a really busy pub. Football needs to learn how to provide real value for money from sources who know how to do it.
  4. You miss the point of the statement. What is comparable is fans with an interest in the game and potential customers for the club to make money from. The climate may not be the same but we have areas around the stadium we can use - get a large covered area or marquee at the front (doesn't even need heated) just a suitable space that's dry with some seating for fans - have some big screens up to watch games (instead of a single 30in TV down in the foyer of the Main stand), pre-match build up, some music etc - something to build up an atmosphere. Have snack bars/drinks in them and encourage fans to come early and hang around for the build up rather than at bars in town. Nobody is suggesting Prawn Cocktail - pies and tea/bovril still have a place but really is he pricing reflective for the quality of goods on offer good value? The quality can be improved by offering external catering the opportunity to rent a stall outside the ground - plenty of small companies doing great quality foods for comparable prices - just visit game fairs/food events to see that. Helps the provide better local community ties & links to business. With games on at 3pm, having catering and facilities that can get folks out there at 12 or 1 - taps into a lunch market not just game time snacks - but people need to want to be there and entertained in that time. You dismiss all this yet there are clubs in England with areas doing this so why cant we?

Danny Mackay is understandable but NOT for Walsh ??
  6. One sure fire way to ensure it never changes is to take the attitude that it will never change.

Really surprised at how willing folk are to brush this result off. We should be in the next round of the League Cup. All we had to do was avoid being pumped 4 - 0 but we somehow went one better and conceded five. It was a lamentable showing from us today with a lot to think about going into the league opener next weekend.

The season and the MAIN focus does only start next week.

Home tie v Celtic we've missed out on. With TV that could be £50k of much needed ££ that we won't get. Very frustrating, big performance required next week to get the season properly started

The fact we didn't have an issue with this and NO explanation was given is pretty galling to be honest.

Obviously playing HL teams not the ideal preparation for pre season needs sorting now

A bit of a shame about getting knocked out like that, but losing out to Hearts (rather than Falkirk last year) is no disgrace...sounds like we were in the game but got caught by a goal blitz. Don't have BT Sport so didn't get to see it on the TV Anyway I've booked my first flying visit up fo the QoS game, late September, so excited about that, so I just want Caley to park that game as a 'lessons to be learned' for a young side and start the league season positively

A bad day at the office, but let's move on and focus on next Saturday. Hearts started quickly, but once we settled, the first 25 minutes were quite even, and it could have been different had Chalmers effort gone in. Three quick fire, well taken goals kicked the stuffing out of us, and then their 'keeper had a couple of decent saves before half time. The two Naismith goals were disappointing, and we could not take the chances we had, the best falling to Austin, but Hearts could have had more, with the woodwork saving us twice and Ridgers having some saves. It could easily have finished 9-3! I assume Tremarco had a knock when he was substituted. Looking forward, I would give McCart game time alongside Donaldson. Midfield is a worry, as we have no one doing the "dirty work" well: how we missed Vigurs today. Beith or Welsh may be the answer, but not seen either yet. Austin needs to be our first pick up front. A bad day, but I don't feel we were humiliated, just beaten by a better team who clicked on the day. Hopefully Robbo picks them up for Saturday.

Be an eagle NOT a vulture. Grieve and look forward don't Gripe and be negative.

Given we could have lost by 3 and STILL went through...... that is a poor, poor result !!!!!!! ?

Poor performance, disappointed at the lack of passion. Naismith at 5'10'' should not be scoring with a header. No one taking responsibility and winning the ball

Could be the best thing that happened to us. Hearts were on a high today and all it did was to simply show that we are far from being a team that could hold its own in the premier division. Perhaps we got the tactics wrong at the start but you cant foresee those first two goals. Falkirk will provide us with more answers.

I could have accepted maybe a 2-0 defeat.....but getting close to cricket score territory is disappointing

Well we have totally Hibsed it ... feels like the start of last season. We flattered to deceive against diddy teams but as soon as we faced serious opposition we collapsed.

We are not being outclassed. We have set out our stall to defend and hit on the break. The boy Ipekazu is the difference and the nobody would have stopped the first two goals. And now there keeper has made two great saves. Do we need a goal or wot ?

Agreed , great promotion of what ICT are about from Robbo

    Bloody farce.

And that is how football should be decided....on the park. Hearts made an administrative error and the player was there's, had been there's and had agreed the extended contract...it just hadn't been registered. It is not as if they played a player who could/would not have been eligible if not for that fact. We can go with all the faux outrage, but in reality, they gained no real competitive advantage.

Big difference between the wise old constructive criticism of the eagle and the reactive dismissal of the fledgling vulture. Note that you have lost your pack who have probably and hopefully taken things on board.

Of course it is different - are you feeling guilty ? It was Robbo's responsibility for the way that he started - He is undoubtedly "rawer" than anyone else and will undoubtedly reflect when he sees the replays. The first three goals were unstoppable. Perhaps White being the "defender" for one was a mistake BUT who made that call. Were you actually watching the game ? Hearts were immense when they got started. You started your response well but turned into a vulture again by the close.
  26. Perhaps it was actually only reignited today ?

Of course it is vultures. There should not be any of this species of posters flying about and spreading their venom at this stage of the season. I am calm and it is raw but again hopefully a big learning curve. What form - against who ? Again watch the first 3 goals. Hearts had a better team and then they had confidence and the impulse to go for the jugular.
  28. That reignited spark got a bit damp today.

We can gripe all we like about the injustice of the SPFL only deducting two points from Hearts when precedent and logic dictated a three point deduction and 3-0 win awarded to Cove. I am in no doubt that that decision was contrived to keep the Group alive for the benefit of the sponsors and BT Sports. However, we were left with the simple enough task of not having to lose to a Hearts team who, apart from 45 minutes against a Cowdenbeath team depleted in numbers, had been decidedly average. We fell abysmally short in what should have been a straightforward task and deserve to be out of the competition. The task now for the manager and coaching staff is to try to ensure that today's humiliation does not dent confidence too much and to get the league campaign off to a positive start.

Given how the Irn Bru Cup win perked us up last season, I shudder to think what effect this might have...
