Encouraging statement but, if there is money available rather than bringing in "one or two" I would prefer it to be spent on one forward of decent quality. Our ongoing issue is a persistent failure to convert chances made.

I can see your point, nothing being mathematically ruled out yet, I just think we have been taking one step forward and two back for a while now. Every choice, every decision being made reactively to circumstances, chasing the promised land. I would like to have a strategy to play a certain way and players would have to fit in with that style - the youth could then have a clear path to the 1st team as their training would mirror the style of the senior team. I'm just not sure we would be ready for a return to the top just yet.

Still seventeen games, almost half the league season, to go. Sort out our depressing tendency to fail to hang on to the lead and a play off place is still well within our grasp especially if Walsh continues his goal scoring form. We were in a far worse position this time last season yet still only fell short due to a ninety fifth minute equaliser by Dunfermline. It's not been great of late but, personally, I'm not giving up on this season just yet.

The longterm plan should be to give up on chasing promotion for both club and fans and spend the next year or two slowly reducing the number of 'journeymen' jobbers at the club and bring through more youth. If it all clicks and we make play-offs then great, but focus on Championship consolidation, more attractive football and a team that shows signs of excitement coming back. From that core of younger players it will hopefully reduce the wage bill and allow for the introduction of select quality additions rather than quantity to supplement and strengthen to aim towards getting premiership status back. If Dunfermline, Falkirk, Morton and even DUtd cant just steamroller this league and get out then we cant expect to either - some have been here years. Even the likes of PT have shown that its a hard league and not to be underestimated. Next season needs to be about realism and that needs to start from the board level right the way through.

  8. Nonsence! We could well afford these wages in the premiership. Unfortunately getting relegated made most of them unaffordable.
  9. Amazing how you are willing to write off a young player based on 7 months out with an injury (and setback) despite not knowing how good he may be or cost the club. Too many of our fans appear to think we will always be able to get better players when in reality, i'm amazed we have signed some of the players we have within the wage structure in place.
  10. Right get googling for an out of work striker people email [email protected] with names!
  11. The board stopped big yogi going to dufc getting compo for him sacked him and replaced him with possibly the worst manager to ever take an spl team and continued to back him even after the mauling at Hamilton utter madness between them and foran they've completely screwed ICT nothing to do with the players spl wages at all if yogi hadn't been sacked or even replaced with a veteran manager we'd still be a top 6 side like u say breaking even at worst!
  12. We paid the going rate for decent quality Premiership standard players and would have continued, more or less, to break even had we not been demoted. The mistake was giving a new contract to a manager who had started to fail badly and was in public dispute with the chairman which was then compounded by replacing him by a complete rookie who it turned out, whilst a very decent player, could neither manage or coach. Don't blame the players for accepting what we offered for playing for a club often hundreds of miles from home.
  13. We handed out silly contracts like sweeties , to guys who weren't worth half what they got. We've been skint since relegation, fighting fires since then. And don't forget forans 4 year payoff. Draper fee paid the wages for a month or two.

I would love to but I would lose my license. But I can see a big lump of male sugar in the bottom of ma t-cup ??
  15. Beith is an absolute waste of time and money, I have my doubts we'll ever see him on the pitch. Time to admit that was a mistake and offload, for a club with so little funds, removing players like him is a must
  16. I agree that he was a great player for us, especially in the cup winning season. Some folks on here have short memories, and cannot see past his performances towards the end of his second spell with us, when he was clearly not fully fit. Nor was he for the year at Dons/County. However I do feel now that he will struggle to get back to his best, so perhaps it is just as well that he has gone to St Midden, not that we could have afforded his wages anyway.

I can certainly see past his performances in our cup winning team, I can see all the way back to his first less illustrious spell with us when he left for greener pastures elsewhere. I don't agree with his great player tag - he was a good player in a very good team...a team full of quality & overachievers...and lots of graft. I was disappointed with his performances in his financially enhanced final season with us - like a lot of the team, however it was his attitude that set him apart from the rest.
