  1. As a Prostate Cancer survivor, due to early detection, I really want to promote and post about the absolute importance of the Prostate Cancer initiative that ICT have got involved with. I lost an uncle (in Inverness) due to this condition because it was detected too late and my doctor (in Toronto) sent me for a test because of his death. I was 52 at the time and conventional thinking said it was "too early" for me to be affected by PC or even that other favourite as you get older, an enlarged prostate. Fast forward a few weeks and after a reading that was too high, and a biopsy that followed, I was going under the knife to remove the cancer that had been confirmed. Early detection meant a good prognosis and although I now need to have checks regularly - which are simple and easy blood tests - the alternative does not bear thinking about. The club sent out a press release today with an invite for the media to come along and publicise this event, and that reminded me I had not made any comment yet so here is my tuppence worth as this is a subject that is very close to home and of which I have personal experience. I would urge anyone who has any symptoms, or who has a family history to go get tested. For me, looking back, the only real symptom I missed was that I was having to pee more frequently, especially if I was drinking carbonated drinks like Coke or Irn Bru, or alcoholic drinks like beer! I put it down to getting older, no big deal. Take advantage of this kind of initiative or talk to your GP. Don't be embarrassed. A PSA test is a simple blood test, and it will not only put your mind at rest if the results come back as clear, but if there is anything detected, it will hopefully give you time to have it seen to before it is too late. PC is one of those slow burns, usually building over a number of years, and often unseen ... my doctor told me after my surgery that early detection was key as it is eminently treatable if caught in time. This is the kind of initiative that can prevent the preventable so please go get tested if you can. ICT Release follows: Whilst this is a media release and the spots are already filled, it is worth highlighting this so you can keep an eye out for any future opportunities.
  2. Was just reading the website listed and one stat on there is truly staggering Why? Is it the famous Highland/Scottish reserve and/or stoicism? FFS, as a population we do need to put any sense of embarrassment aside and get checked out. I was lucky, my GP ticked the box on my standard blood tests I get for my yearly physical to include a PSA test that is not normally included. If she had not, then I might be telling a different story - or none at all!
  3. Good post and surprised that the state of the pitch has only just been brought up. The ball was bobbling across the pitch and you could see the players were struggling to get it under control and play the way they normally do. The pitch needed water to make the ball move quicker but I suspect it suited East Fife to stop us playing quickly hence why it was left dry. The frustration on Saturday was that the coaching staff didn't adapt to this and whilst many are saying there were too many aimless passes up the pitch, I actually felt we persisted with our normal passing style for too long which meant the likes of Allan, Stewart & McLeod couldn't dictate play the way they normally do and were often caught out with poor touches or slack passes. We should have gone more direct, playing off Zimba and Alonge and pushed the midfield higher up the pitch to play off second balls. All in all, a frustrating and disappointing afternoon.
  4. Okay, got back Sunday morning after an overnighter on a coach back, and left it to today to comment Overall an enjoyable trip, albeit the match was a bit of a damp squib, fortunately Billy got a terrific goal, which means things are much more in our hands, the simple equation is don't lose, and despite Hamilton being a bit of a bogey team and with something to play for, we have beat them twice this season and at the very least we should want to pay them back for relegating us. And we will be playing on a proper pitch! And I must say that Bayview pitch was absolutely terrible, a terrible bounce, the ball never held up on the glassy surface at all, maybe it was me, but the pitch looks less wide than Inverness'. The East Fife players were well marshalled and very busy, fair play to them, they often hunted our players down in pairs. We never had time on the ball, and could rarely get the ball under control. [I actually though Longstaff did the best in those close contact situations, but maybe I am in a minority]. People will of course say that this was the same for both teams [and we beat them earlier in the season], but I would argue if you play on that type of pitch regularly, you get to know how to play it. I understood why we were trying the long ball, to bypass a busy midfield, but we rarely got players close to Zimba who struggled a bit, but without close support this was likely to be the case as we needed to pick up the 2nd ball. I wasn't surprised that East Fife scored, they looked surer footed and the goal was a first touch hit. Would Billy and 'Wothers' fared better if on earlier? Who knows, they obviously had the guile, but also a tiring East Fife started to sit deeper which helped. Billy's goal was a great shot, and from distance [Probably the only way we were going to score on the day] I am not going to have a go at any player, because everyone of those have done a good job for us over the season. It didn't work on the day, but credit East Fife. As for team selections, does anyone know are best team, but also has the rotation helped minimise injuries this season? As for Saturday, I reckon Billy will have a say in the result.
  5. Nail-Clippers already looked out. Don’t think I’ll last out till Saturday before their used.😬 bc
  6. Plenty of good points brought up. I also was surprised Longstaff was subbed. He is one of the few whose close control usually sees him hold onto the ball. The surface was an issue as you pointed out. I'm also not sure how many realised the breeze on the park was holding the ball up quite a bit. I'm sure the hosts would be well used to this at Bayview. I thought our biggest problem was to hold onto the ball in midfield. Credit to East Fife who were up for this game and like Kelty shut us down quickly all over the park. Zimba had a horror show until he popped up with the head flick for Billy. Maybe he should try and stay on his feet more often, that falling over stunt is so predictable and gains us nothing. He is a big lad, but not as solid as the heavyweight boxer East Fife took on later in the game. You won't knock him over in a hurry. Anyway, still in our own hands but it's just not the scenario we all wanted.
  7. Good win for the women & hat-trick for Connie Bell.
  8. Yesterday was our best chance of getting promotion and we blew it. Whilst Stenny will be facing a team with nothing to play for on Saturday, we have horrible opponents in Hamilton, who are really in 3rd place on 55 points but are fighting to avoid relegation.
  9. I'm afraid Kellagher doesn't seem to accept responsibility for his decisions which have got us into this pickle. His constant chopping and changing of the team since New Year has, in my opinion, contributed to the amount of draws we have had. His lack of substitutions at times is also baffling. More concerning perhaps is that he doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes.
  10. It’s all come down to Saturday now! Avoid defeat and we win the league. The positive about that is that we are unbeaten in 17 league games. I’ve looked back to where we were before we lost those two games around Christmas. On 16 December we’d 33 points from 16 games, so with the deduction we took 38 points out of a possible 48. Since then, we’ve played 19 games and taken another 33 points to get us to our current total of 66. That’s 33 points out of a possible 57. As I say, we are not losing league games, which is the positive going into Saturday, but we’ve just not been winning enough. A day for calm heads, on and off the pitch. We never do things the easy way, but let’s do it!
  11. Quite an important flick on from Zimba there. Apart from that I thought he was poor, but without that we aren’t scoring so credit where it’s due.
  12. Donkey derby more like
  13. At least they had fixed the PA system. When we were there in January you couldn’t make anything out for the crackling.
  14. It’s astounding how much better their highlights are to ours. Surely something can be done about this.
  15. Oh dear I didnt realise I did that. All about opinions and sometimes we agree and sometimes we do lol
  16. The guys that do the betting forum on here will be hacked off with my master plan for selecting my choice each game. I have no skill in my selections just ask a grandkid for a number between 1-15 and a 1, 2 or 3. 1-5 championship, 6-10 league 1 and 11-15 league 2. 1 home win, 2 draw , 3 away win A Granddaughter selected 6/2. A draw for 1st game in league 1, EF v ICT. I was going to change the selection for first time in 35 games as I thought we would get away win. It was a stick or twist moment. I chose stick, it only dawned on me sitting on the train after the game every cloud has a silver lining. Nearly happy days.
  17. I remain to be convinced that Munro is a good enough keeper for us, but he did well yesterday. The save he made to keep it 1-0 was impressive enough at the time but even better when I see it now on the highlights.
  18. That’s why I think Billy and Spoony need to start next week, their quality showed a lot, they have calm heads with good decision making and it might get us off to a good start to prevent the nerves setting in. A tough watch yesterday, changes made far too late. Wouldn’t have taken Alfie off
  19. Spot on! Totally spineless performance. Im not convinced we can do this now. Do we need some kind of confidence coach in for Sat. These players get stage fright at the big moments bar Billy and Spoony it seems.
  20. This is not an excuse but once again we saw players on the opposite side to us seek time out for 'head' or other injuries. The SFA need to trial a system of 10 minute trial outs for those with head injuries and those in excruciate pain - their right back had at least 4 of these moments yesterday. If referees had the power to ask the medical teams to isolate players in such pain for 10 minutes off the pitch it might make the life of a referee much easier to detect true injuries and feigned injuries.
  21. I think their big gane experience showed big time yesterday. Might have been an idsa to start them due to that and nerves would have been settled? Was a bit disappointed that Scott didnt show any personal responsibility re yesterday tbh
