  1. Couldn't agree more. However well intentioned this may be it is simply not appropriate. I don't mean to sound flippant or disrespectful but what would happen if the minute's applause started just as Billy slotted in the opener? Are the Aberdeen fans going to keep clapping for a minute as our team celebrates the goal? If he was a well known and respected fan then perhaps the Aberdeen fans could persuade their team to wear black arm bands, or they could have a few collection buckets for an appropriate charity? At least that would allow the "respect" of the fans to be shown in a rather more tangible way.

  2. With due respect, this business of football matches being used as outlets for grief, appreciation or whatever is getting a bit ridiculous. And the 'minutes played significance' is ridiculous. Sorry if I sound callous but it's a football match. There are other ways of showing respect such as attending the funeral. The tragic deaths recently of youth players is different and I can understand Remembrance Day as a time to stop, respect and wonder what may have been, but that was for hundreds-of-thousands of men and women giving their lives to secure the future of our country. However, the passing of an individual fan is obviously a sad time for those who know him - but should not necessarily be acknowledged by a round-of-applause - particularly at the minute signifying his age. Mikey Diamond got no recognition in this respect nor would he have expected or wanted it. I think the club got it right by not commemorating his passing in this manner because once the precedent is set, where do you draw the line?

  3. If your booking was confirmed (presumably by John the bus genius) that's ok, simply pay on the day. I would really hope that those who have booked will go, we really need them to.

  4. Nice, but who is our no. 23? I think it may, ironically, be Liam Fox - before he went on to become a Livi legend!

  5. Should be told to go away. We have spent good money getting him back to fitness. He should say go away too. When Butcher cut his head the big baby put a bandage on. Yogi just got on with things Sunday. Vincent should do the same.

  6. Did we reach the League Cup Semi-Final two years in a row or did I dream it?

  7. Pele underwent exactly the same change when he went to Aberdeen, and it did him no favours at all. Possibly something to do with having to appear forward-thinking and ambitious to supporters of perennially under-achieving clubs. I'm sort of with RiG on this - rather Vincent than Draper. I suspect I didn't fully appreciate what Vincent gave to the team though - in the games I saw him in earlier in the season I felt that he didn't do a great deal, but there is no question that our best performances happened with him in the side, so I probably missed something. Brewster was atrocious for it too, I remember him more or less tapping up Black, Dods and Proctor and I remember Malpas grassed him up to SFA for publicly declaring interest in Scott McDonald as well. All it does is antagonize. Hoping Vincent stays though. He offered a great go between for midfield and attack and settled into that position in the hole. What I noticed without him was that once he was out of the team the overall play and free flowing football we had seen was less fluent and I'd say still is. He may not have provided anything pleasing to the eye but he was providing a key cause to the team. I would hate to lose him cause I think he will get better, and especially lose him to the Judas.

  8. So it seems Tansey could be en route. Still a bit confused as to the motive but would be welcome all the same. Looks like Latapy wil be in soon. Will be a relief to see our managment team finally complete.

  9. If they are allowed to sign players the day before the SF 'Ngoo style' I will be raging. If they subsequently win, probably from a Skacel goal I will be an absolute seething mess.

  10. Nobody who is expressing a critical opinion regarding Nick Ross is claiming any deeper understanding than anyone else or has "delusions of Fergusion football knowledge", we're simply expressing an opinion and are as entitled to do that as others who think Nick is a key member of the team. It would be nice if we could offer an honest opinion without firstly being criticised by you simply for disagreeing with team selection, and then being subject to snide comments when we respond to that criticism. Perhaps next time you post you might like to enlighten fellow forum members with your views on some topic rather than simply insulting people and acting as self appointed keyboard censor.

  11. Didn't we start out as Caledonian Thistle? Were the toilets at Telford Street Park painted red and black in our first season in division 3? Did all the Bolton wanderers fans spend half time having an every man for himself kick about on our pitch during a pre season friendly against us? Did Alan Hercher score a hat trick from 3 consecutive corners in our first league match? Was Richard Hastings really our designated set piece specialist in the early days? Did Tokely once play in goals for us after we used all of our subs? Did Mark McCulloch score a 30 yard piledriver, with his weaker foot, in the last minute of injury time, in a Scottish Cup replay against Dundee United?

  12. I hope he stays. Lad showed a lot of promise early doors. Maybe ask him to not commit to anything. I don't really buy into the "We spent a lot of money getting him fit again" ideology. 1) Surely clubs are insured to cover these events and 2) as an employer of staff working in a dangerous work place (surely one of the higher risk jobs injury wise, along with vending machine reloading) then the employer has a duty of care to it's staff who risk injury by working. And as the job is a specialist one, the employer should make cover the expense of required treatment. Besides it's a broken leg. The treatment is pretty standard across the board.

  13. Why should we care what Butcher's job is, gingerjaggy? He left us, now he's trying to weaken our team. Sod him. He chose to leave a team going somewhere. Give it ten years and we can be nostalgic. Not now.

  14. To me penalty taking is an art - I was a regular penalty taker and only ever missed one. It is all about practice and making your mind up before hitting it. We should be getting the preferred players to practice, practice, practice. The one person who really impressed me with his dead ball deliveries was Williams - and he is our only player to me that looks fluent.

  15. I would just leave it. Dougal is just being Dougal. Everyone else appreciates the efforts made.

  16. Seems I was a bit hasty offering my congrats here to Caleyjagsforever when the real heros were the Scottish Sun Dougal You're right of course as The Scottish Sun make a habit of ringing round supporters groups randomly offering 4 figure sums out of the goodness of their heart. Can't believe I bit. It's good PR from the Sun The SPFL did nothing so the meeting was a waste of diesel, a phone call straight to the tabloids bypassing the beaks is the way to go in the future Dougal There is no way that we would have got this help from the Sun if the spfl hadnt put cjt in touch.

  18. Rangers were not relegated! It's extraordinary that this perception persists for some. It should be remembered that, like Hearts, Rangers 'punishment' for going into administration was a points penalty. However, unlike Hearts, Rangers failed to come out of administration and were subsequently liquidated. This resulted in Dundee taking-up the vacant spot in the (then) SPL. That left the (then) Scottish Football league with 29 member clubs with the (then) 3rd Division requiring an additional team. Ordinarily, this would have led to a vote to elect a new member, be it Spartans, Cove Rangers or whoever, assuming they could provide 3 years of audited accounts to verify their suitability as a solvent club. As history shows, the goalposts were conveniently moved to allow the newly-formed 'The Rangers' their place in the bottom tier. A different entity but certainly not a relegated 'Rangers' team.

  19. Liam Keogh was released in 2007 and signed for Peterhead and then Elgin City. He packed it in at that point and went to work offshore. I remember when we got promoted in 2004 people thought he could push on into Scotland contention! Didn't quite work out like that. I was there when Keogh scored his first goal btw. Paul Bradshaw ended up playing for Forres again. I'm sure I heard that during one season he stopped showing up for matches and training when the Can-Cans were out of contention for the title He really was a waste of talent. If Steve Paterson releases you from your contract for being unprofessional, it's time to re-evaluate your life.

    • Inverness CT (1-2) Hamilton - Play off Final 2nd Leg - Preview
The hurt, the pain, the reluctance and pig-headedness to listen to the fans asking what is going on, the lack of communication, the lack of ambition, the stench of mismanagement, the concert company, the battery farm, the demise since winning the Scottish Cup in 2015, the lack of passion, the lack of commitment, the dwindling fanbase, the lack of leadership. It has left the fans comfortably numb

    • Hamilton -V- Inverness CT - Play off Final 1st Leg - Preview
However all is not well and we just kept our heads above water thanks to Arbroath being rubbish. Onto the play offs and an insipid performance at Links Park left us all wondering if our time has come to drop into oblivion. Our performance certainly would not look out of place in the lower leagues. We clung on for a 0-0 draw away from home and scraped a 1-0 win at Inverness with Billy Mckay saving our blushes. Everything about the club has negative undertones at the moment.

    • Inverness CT 1-0 Montrose Play-Off Second Leg (0-0)
Little Consolation: Inverness will face Hamilton Accies in the Play-Off final after nervously scraping past part-time Montrose who were eventually reduced to ten men when Blair Lyons was sent off after an off the ball incident in the 84th minute involving Morgan Boyes. Inverness had dominated throughout, but failed to capitalise on their possession, and as per the entire season failed to create much of note. The first half was livlier than the first leg, but the same problems showed up our lack of quality. We started with no wingers and Billy Mckay as usual in a withdrawn role. It's not worked all season, so why should it suddenly work now. A woeful first half ended goalless and it was on the hour and out of the blue when Billy Mckay prodded in from three yards to score the only goal of the game following a corner

    • Inverness CT -V- Montrose - Second Leg (0-0)
As much as we have criticised the Caley Jags performance on Tuesday night, let's not lose sight of the fact that Montrose are a decent League 1 side with a good blend of experience and talented prospects. For our part, let's keep them as a good League 1 side and that means no room for faffing about. Time has run out now, there's no hiding places and no room for shirkers. Ditch the sideways passing or put goal posts in front of the Main Stand and tuck shops.

    • Montrose 0-0 Inverness CT - Play Off 1st Leg
      FULL TIME: 0-0

All to play for on Saturday, but don't hold your breath...

However, if we continue like this, it will be our final game this season.

Best performer for us was Samson Lawal, the only bright spark on the field.

Alloa 2-2 Hamilton was the other semi-final score tonight. On this evidence, I doubt either side will be quaking in their boots.
