The position of the PLP on further military intervention in Syria is an absolute shambles. The fact that the leader of the opposition will be strongly opposing the motion while the shadow foreign secretary will be speaking in favour is beyond parody. The SNP remain more than ever the only credible left of centre party in UK politics.

Based on the players he has signed to date I have little confidence that he will spend it wisely. As for your comment on a restrictive budget it didn't seem to stop Butcher who ended up bringing in some very good players for us although there were plenty of duffers as well. The problem Hughes has is that he has yet to bring in a player who has really done well for us. Having more money available to him might help but it doesn't automatically equate to better players arriving at the club.

caleyboy is right in as much as attracting players, we can scarcely attract a decent crowd let alone high quality players. To buy cheap is often buying dear and I am not decrying the players he has brought in! His philosophy appears to be to be to buy people who are affordable if he believes they have the potential to fit in to the squad and his style of play. He is a coach to these guys, a mentor who goes out of his way to get the best out of them. It often is a long and somewhat painful process at times but look how he has already improved those he has brought in. Look how he had to remould the Butcher squad to get the best out of them he succeeded and I am sure he will again..just give him time. I am delighted he is staying with us and now that the injury list is shortening and that contract renewals are in the forefront all we need as i bit more good fortune on the field of play and we will start climbing that league table and clawing our way to retaining our trophy.

Right enough Dougal, that period included a comprehensive 3-0 win over Kilmarnock and a lucrative and unforgettable trip to Parkhead. Happy with this news regarding Yogi signing on for another couple of seasons and hopefully we as a club can kick on with the stability from this. Like Kingsmills, I do hope that he is given a bit more flexibility in the transfer front to sign decent players like Miles Storey, so that we avoid panic signing players like Lopez and Mutombo.

On which subject, with the emergence of Corbyn, who would now criticise Foot for making a scarecrow look like the epitome of sartorial elegance? The thing is, guys like Lenin, Marx (Karl - and except the beard) and Trotsky actually used to look relatively smart. It's just these neo-Commies who have (unsuccessfully) tried to make it trendy to be scruffy. That's shallow even by your standards. Perhaps we should vote for politicians on the basis of who has the best tailor and personal groomer. Good grief, I bet if the chap ever chose to wear a tie it would be polyester rather than a decent silk one.....

My view of the SNP Members of the House of commons is that they frequently make a lot of noise way above their station, it is like they just want to be noticed. Their role appears to be " love us or hate us but don't ignore us". None of them seem to be able to make a speech without reading it, something which really infuriates me, as it has obviously been written by a party Guru. The order of the day is to be bad tempered and confrontational. I feel it is what is known medically as "little man syndrome", These are people who by definition are totally opposed to Westminster and don't, give a toss for anything other than making trouble.. They seem to me to demonise anyone who they don't agree with . Their political acumen is virtually zero making cheap points and constant jibes. They should get into their heads that the house represents the interests of 65 million people and that they seem to think that the 6 million they root for are the most important. Beggars belief.

It wasn't a back 5 v Celtic. Meekings was playing right back. I think I would 'rest' Devine, and play either Raven or Horner at RB. Might even put Tremarco at LB (or is injured, given he wasn't on the bench and we only had six subs?). That would allow Williams to play in midfield and add some width. Silva to partner Storey would be desirable too.

But has Raven lost his place ? It would not surprise me if we stick to the back 5 as per Cellic. I have alluded to the Tansey / Draper dilemma before. I still feel that they do not compliment each other. They are both more suited to playing deeper IMHO and can cancel each other out at times. Neither looks as effective when pushed forward. Pol worth and Vincent are in there now on merit. Storey up front but I am still not sure who partners. Hi Ho Silver gets the nod but I would not play that two and Mutumbo together at any time.
