  1. Celtic vs ICT team news: 20/2/2016 Club captain Richie Foran (calf) remains out while Alex Fisher (ankle), Josh Meekings and James Vincent (both knee) are unlikely to return for the Parkhead encounter. Long-term absentee Aaron Doran (knee) is still out but goalkeeper Dean Brill is closing in on a return from his knee injury. Inverness (from): OF Williams, Raven, Warren, Devine, Tremarco, Tansey, D Williams, Draper, Polworth, Storey, Mbuyi-Mutombo, Vigurs, Sutherland, Roberts, Ferguson, Wedderburn, Hughes, R Williams, Brown, Esson. I asked for this thread to help CTO users keep track of the mounting injury list at the start of the season and the confusion it caused. The information is out there. I cross reference a few sites to check the information matches up. Admittedly I could be more regular with updates. Admittedly it would be preferable to get it from the official site and straight from the club itself. They only ever seem to make new signing/contract extension team news on there though. Anyway I hope this thread helps.

  2. By and large I agree with you, but I think the tactics were decent for today's game. Celtic play a high line, and what we did was to press them right across the midfleld, try to stop them playing and take control of that area, then outpace them when we were in possession. It worked so well that we threw them right off their game and controlled it from about 15 mins in until half time. Warren's glaring chance came from this tactic, as did Roberts' early in the second half. Had Roberts scored that, then I think we'd be talking about a win or at least a draw, as Celtic looked very uncertain until they scored. Unfortunately, once they did, their confidence seemed to grow as rapidly as ours diminished, and they largely strolled the rest of it, although 3-0 wasn't really a fair reflection of the game overall. Long term, though, I think our lack of out-and-out strikers could make the difference between, say, 7th and 4th.

  4. He has 1 goal in his last 12 games, and none in the last 7. Even Dani Lopez was more prolific than that! Storey's still been a big asset to the team in that time, but really, no other team would persist so long with something that wasn't working - yet we find ourselves with no credible alternative. Very unlucky that Fisher got injured so soon after signing. At least we have been getting a decent number of goals from midfield.

  6. The beef that I had with Willie Miller on the radio post-match was his complete inability to accept Yogi's "No" as an answer when asked if that was ICT's best performance of the season. How on earth could they have played better in any other game this season when they had just gone and beaten the mighty Aberdeen thanks in part to an allegedly dodgy penalty?

  7. I just don't get our retention policy at the moment. We've been stung with guys leaving on frees before - fine if our squad is buging at the seams and a player is "surplus to requirements", but we have precisely 5 players (one of whom is permenantly injured and another who might well attract interest again from down the A96), and a goalkeeper coach signed for next season. I understand that, to an extent these things have to be done one at a time, so that the budget is kept under control, but we're in danger of needing a massive rebuild next season, which carries enormous risk. I know Draper and Warren are good, but they can't beat 11 men on their own! Give Polworth an offer ffs!

  9. It is absoulutely ridiculous that with just over 2 weeks to go we do not yet know on what day or at what time our QF tie against the Hobos is. Some of us wishing to go have travel and accommodation arrangements to make and with prices rising having to wait until after the Dee v Sons replay next week is utter nonsense. There again I suppose we can't expect anything better from the SFA or their paymaster TV companies.

  10. Pretty much what I would have said CMIB! Definitely worth the £18 I shelled out to BT for the month! Having not had a chance to see Caley live this before now this season due to ill luck (matches being called off) I thought we were pretty impressive, strong, aggressive (almost too much) good movement and mostly slick passing (almost shades of Arsenal) ...maybe one of Caley's best performances this season I would think, not least because we kept it going for most of the 90+ minutes. Tremarco and Horner impressed (was this surprising for the latter?), Storey very effective down the left, except perhaps for the final ball, and now we can see what Roberts is about. As for the penalties, well Shinnie had pretty much lost the ball anyway before he got clipped, Draper was certainly facing a high boot and a block for his successful award...as for Draper on Ash Taylor...that 'collision' was pretty much identical to Mile Jedinak's on a Watford player last weekend which resulted in a penalty against Palace (bollox!), fortunately for Caley, Collum not enforcing the law in that instance. A great game to watch on TV with the wife, who by now must be getting a tiny bit as excited as I am over our impending trip up for the Hamilton match!

  11. Updating a stat I showed a few weeks ago, we have taken a remarkable 60% of the available points against Top 6 sides, but only 33% of points against the bottom 6. We are actually unbeaten against the sides in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, winning 5 of those 8 games. We've done very poorly against the weakest sides, though, with only 3 wins from 14 games against the bottom 6, including a mere 1 home win from 7.

  13. Hi, Cambridge fan here and just want to say you are getting one heck of a player and a top fella. The press are listing Liam as an attacking midfielder but he has played just about every position for us. I'd say his best position is a deep lying centre mid or centre def. As his record shows he isn't a massive goal scorer but he has great creativity can certainly pick a pass to unlock a defence. Not afraid to get stuck in and mix it when he has to but certainly not dirty in anyway. He's tall and we regularly put him up against tall strikers when defending corners or goal kicks and he won a LOT more than he lost. He's got a good engine and as you've seen from the video has a shot on him like a kicking horse. We really don't understand the logic in letting him go. He's been a stalwart for the last 2-3 years but a new manager has come in and bombed him & a few others straight out of the team without ever looking at them in a game and replaced them with a number of untried premier league youngsters, none of whom are setting the world alight. One thing you really will get from him is a real connection with the fans, he'll always be happy to have photos taken or sign autographs. Any kids that ask him will get asked if they play, what position etc and he gives a real sense of being genuinely interested in their answers. I hope you enjoy him, he will always get a fantastic welcome from us for the opening goal in our playoff final at Wembley in 2014 that ended 9 years of non league wilderness. Keep an eye out for a U's shirt or two popping up as I've already heard of several people planning a weekend away.

  14. I thought the scoreline was the main disappointment for today's game. I would say tactically we were absolutely spot on and as a critic of Yogi against Celtic(I think he gives them too much respect at times for the team they are now)I thought he really got it right today. Team were solid but ultimately lost the game in the first 15 minutes of the second half and the scoreline was buffered by the quality of Griffiths. Roberts caused them problems getting himself a beauty of a chance to give us the lead with a 1 on 1 with Gordon but fluffed it and arguably his decision making caused a 4 v 2 attack to fall flat. Warren had a free header quite early but failed to hit the target. Celtic were poor. We were the better team for 55 minutes of that game but was just a bad day for us in front of goal. Performance was there and on another day it is never 3-0. Celtic Park really is a dump but luckily for us the city is a top night out. Not worried for Dundee.

  16. As I think I said on another thread.... is this not in danger of creating an Invernessian version of July 12th or the Dons fans' Gothenburg Syndrome? It's 16 years now - 16 years during which ICT has ousted Celtic from two further cups, won a cup, reached a further final and three further semi-finals, won the First Division (twice), been promoted to the SPL, defeated Celtic in the SPL, finished Top Six, finished Top Three and played in Europe. Sure, that was a great night at Celtic Park, but should it not now be allowed to settle gracefully into a still honourable place in the annals of history?

  18. Massive rebuilds work when there's some direction to them. The lower league up and comers that Butcher and Marsella used to scout for example. Some of Yogi's have been like something out of Football Manager! And what about Raven? Pleading for a new deal in the press last month. One of our most reliable and consistent players. Still nothing.

  20. Now I am getting results but went through a 3 week period of utter misery , stress and 5 crashes before my tech friend, also at his wit's end to know what to do, finally decided to open the back of the new computer and have a good look. Lo and beho, we find a loose connection to the bios where the usb wire was almost falling out. Once it was pressed in firmly all started to go well as it should and the problems have been resolved.I do use IE11 with Google as the search engine. However, although the web pages pop up quickly enough ,they fail to display contents until at least 4-5 seconds afterwards, which is irritating. Scotty, you seem to favour EDGE so did you find using IE11 was not the best browser to use with W.10? I have two banks that I use so need to access the accounts frequently. But if you go to Tools/ Internet options and open the Security Tab you will see at the very bottom the added security instruction to tick the box named "ENABLE PROTECTED MODE". My technician friend strongly recommends that this box be ticked except that when I browse to one of the Banks I have no difficulty with gaining access but I can't open the other bank's website until I de-click that wee box.. He recommends that I talk to the bank which I am unable to access and I intend to do that but it's a big national entity so you would think that they would already have all their security protocols in place wouldn't you? He also suggests that within 2-3 weeks it is a strong possibility that Microsoft will have updated the Windows 10 programme again and this problem will disappear by itself. Any input on this?

  21. Why is it so difficult for the club to actually tell us what's wrong with our injured players? I have found the silence this season bizarre and a little bit insulting. Do any journalists even ask the question of the manager or do they not even know who any of our players are in the first place! Apart from the infamous diving Draper obviously. I get the whole siege mentally everybody hates us but we are the fans and shouldn't be excluded.

    • Inverness CT -V- Morton - Preview
Well, where do you start. It was clear from the begining of the season that something was wrong. Poor signings, dismal performances in the League Cup followed by an abysmal start to the League campaign saw Billy Dodds removed from his position after winning one point in the first six Championship fixtures and replaced by a man with no track record as a manager. A sort of publicity stunt if you like. After the initial new manager bounce wore off, we found ourselves little better off with Big Dunc than we were with wee Billy. We did claw ourselves up to the coat tails of others but the most damning part of our season has been our inability to score goals, especially at home. Only already relegated Arbroath are worse than us. Our team is now full of mercenaries, loan players with no affiliation to our Highland pedigree and many fans have tagged us as being the worst squad ever in our short history. Where are the Golabeck's, Tokeley's, Wilson's..... Much of this can be attributed to our lack of financial nous in the boardroom, failed ventures and now the begging bowls are being put in place to save our club. Having drawn at Dunfermline last week thanks to Aribim Pepple's first goal for the club combined with Billy Mckay's penalty miss, it's now out of our own hands. LAST SIX: D L  W W L  D

    • Dunfermline 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Out of our hands now: It ended in disappointment for the 319 visiting fans with news that Queens Park had hammered Arbroath 0-5. To rub salt into the wounds, Sheridan and Welsh were amongst the scorers. It's out of our hands now, but it's a must win next Friday and hope Queens Park falter.  Inverness play Morton and Queens play Airdrie. A draw might be enough, but it's a long shot.

I'm not convinced that Billy Mckay was the right man to be taking that penalty, his second failure from the spot in successive games against the Pars.

    • Dunfermline Ath -V- Inverness CT - Preview
Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

    • Inverness CT -V- Raith Rovers - Preview
The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!
