How`s he getting on since his move to greener pastures?

Thought we could keep an eye on him & have a good laugh at his expense when opportunity arises.

I cant see him turning them around this season anyway ,if at all.

We all knew he wouldn't be afforded the same leeway or patience down there that he was up here. I still think he'll end up being successful though. It'll be interesting to see how he copes with the pressure, I think this could be his Achilles heel which explains why he did so well with a bankrupt Motherwell and us, and so badly with almost everyone else.

With 'Well and ICT, he got the chance to develop his squad despite problems at first. That luxury wasn't afforded him in most of his other positions.  Will Hibs give him the chance if he's falling below top six this Xmas? Based on previous clubs, they should. Based on previous managers, they won't.

Yup ... its a bit like the scenarios in the past at Aberdeen and Dundee Utd .... clubs with a large fanbase living on past achievements or successes rather than facing the stark reality of the slump they - and Scottish football in general - have faced since then, coupled with a board or chairman willing to make a knee-jerk reaction to appease them when it all goes pear-shaped. 

 

If he is given time I think he will be a success - like he was at 'Well and ICT - but if not given time, and recent history at Hibs (10 managers in 14 years) suggests this is more likely than not, then he may be looking for a new gig before the end of 2014 !

Having just read the HIBS thread on Rig's post, even I was depressed. Glory and stability in the past ....to this kind of depression and back-biting.

 

It's fine having a short fuse as TB is reputed to have but showing it to the players is not the way to go for a new manager --he will lose them. A club that is down, with players who are also emotionally drained by defeat after defeat, needs encouragement and help.

 

Now he has Malpas with him they had better work very hard together and  use praise and encouragement from now on or this team will be a basket case before the end of the season. Hearts have had a torrid time of it but their spirit is still "tails-up" and they still have a bright future.

 

What was it that was so great about TB here at ICT ? Was it the great help he got from his support staff. the potentially good players he brought in from England, or do :clapping:es he really have the right stuff.

 

All I can opine is that the way he "arranged" his departure  left me cold as ice and a man of real character would not only have acted differently but been much fairer to and honest with the Chairman of ICT.

'Nuff said. He made his bed and now he will have to lie on it.

 

Poor Hibs! They picked the wrong man --Their loss is our gain. John Hughes has twice the personality and character.

Terry went to Hibs for the cash and capital Wine Bars and a chance to move full time into TV punditry. He has his retirement home in East Anglia so failure at Hibs is not a problem for him.

 

Am reliably informed Hibsbounce will be renamed Hibsdeflated if Terry creates the history he craved at Inverness and takes them on a long run of defeats. So big game for us in March sometime when we entertain Hibs.

 

Terry could have taken a team to a cup final this year but has chickened out on two fronts now.

I see that it is not just the natives in Leith getting restless but a bit in todays Herald tells its own story and picture of old Tel given his next two fixtures are against in form Motherwell and next Wednesday against us things aint going to improve anytime soon.

It did not take Terry Butcher long to get the Hibernian look.

It was all jokes and stories and joshing from "big Tel" when he breezed in from the north in November. The man's effervescence illuminated Easter Road like floodlights being switched on in a cemetery. That is what the place needed and we have not seen the last of that loud character, but Butcher now cuts a darker, more troubled figure. He has been cloaked by the Hibs malaise, which drains the joy and optimism from a man and replaces them with worry and stress.  

Wonder how he'll be feeling when he see's Yogi running round Parkhead with the league cup in his grubby mitts? In case there isn't enough incentive to stick it up Hibs next week, it looks like a result for us will confirm top 6, while condemning TB to trips to Dungwall and St Midden....

I think a fitting scenario to the end of this season would be to see Hibs make the top six and have our final fixture hopefully at home against them,

where if we win we would finish in a European place. Or at worse finish 4th with a better points haul than last season.

(Then if he wants TB can come & do his your not worthy wave)

I think we are justified in light of the departure. Oh how droll to hear complaints of long ball tactics, blame the players publicly, ensuring they have no incentive for the rest of the season, and then take credit for ICT being top six. Promises of a new team in the summer - no pressure on Steve Marsella then. Next season if they are still floundering, which is very likely, TB will be lucky to keep his job. What a shame.

I do care about the Hibs. They sure deserve better.

 

 But, Terry Butcher? I won't say 'cos I don't like to speak ill of the dead.

Wonder how much red wine he's going through in an average week these days? The stress must be getting to him.

He's following the ICT model.  Get relegated.  Bounce back up.  Spend a season establishing themselves.  Begin to improve.  Get somewhere, then leave. 'm sure the Hibs management and supporters are fine with that

Sounds as though Hibs were woeful today (again).  I wonder if Butcher still has the team in the dressing room or whether there is actually any of the dressing room left.  Chippies between Perth and Leith will not be having extra business tonight.

Fair play to the guy, he's doing his best to ensure they still have the Edinburgh Derby next season.!

Butcher is a man who likes his history. At ICT he almost saved us from relegation and then got us relegated on 37 points. Hibs are currently on 34 points but the message to their players appears to be - ''12 of you are out of contract next year, we will completely rebuild''. The players are probably thinking - ''fair enuff Guv, you sort this out yersel''.

 

If Hearts win next weeks derby, Hibs then play Aberdeen before the split. Two consecutive defeats and the mighty Butcher might be on his way south after Hibs AGM next October.

 

As Billy Dodds yesterday said, if they lose the last two games before the split, the sides in the bottom then target Hibs for the play off spot. 37 points was for the 12th team so the 11th team might need more than 38!!
