Since I haven’t fully retired yet, I’m reluctant to say too much, and must say that Stephen McGowan is generally pretty good. I seem to recollect that it said somewhere in the piece it says that “ICT/AS were approached for comment” but in this situation, I’m not sure that standard device is carte blanche to fire on with one side of the story - especially when it’s as controversial as this and it’s being fed to you from a clearly highly polarised viewpoint. I wouldn’t criticise Stephen for not being as intimately familiar with the story as our local press pack, but given that’s clearly the case, I think that makes accepting what Gardiner says without balance a bit risky - especially when you are likely to get bullshit steered past you.

Whether we like it or not we’re now hearing the starting rebuff by Scott Gardiner. Many more to come in the weeks and months ahead I fear. Now hoisted up by A Savage and bulk of fans as the evil villain, for right or for wrong, we need to hear SG’s account of things (over his full period of CEO) and start to systematically disprove or accept each argument he puts up.

It’s going to be a slog I feel dredging through 5 years of verbal (unrecorded) decisions and what individuals were involved plus the 7,000 + unopened emails. I’m sure we will find more than a few of SG accusations will be difficult to disprove, and we should be prepared for some unsavoury comments regarding the members of the past and current board being ‘aired’. We might see and hear from good old Ketan again. (That will be fun at least)!  

Maybe too late now, and both SG & AS can’t resist a kick at each other,  however I hope some deal can be done between the respective parties at this late stage and avoid the solicitors costs and any settlement fee running way into the Million plus figure.

The way that article comes across to me, it’s as if Gardiner issued a statement to the journalist making the points he wants to make, the journalist then added some background info to pad it out, and SG then had final sign of off what was being said, to ensure there was nothing critical of him. There’s certainly no evidence of any critical/questioning journalism taking place.

Think there are in few CTO regulars included in the 7000 unread emails tbf. Scot Gardiner openly told people he only replied to emails if HE thought appropriate. 

Personal opinion is hell will freeze over for that last paragraph to happen.

I've worked in and adjacent to numerous media teams and they're renowned for sending "approaches for comment" minutes before deadlines with absolutely no time to respond. Sending emails after they knew press offices were closed and not using the on-call phone numbers instead was another one they liked. The only paper to do it.

Then this would surely be grounds for dismissal under gross misconduct for bringing the company into disrepute. I mean his complete incompetence in the job is enough alone for that. Never mind attacking the club and colleagues.

He's hated at Dundee. So his waffle about his work there is nonsense. Clearly an awful person to work for/under too as per Rab Douglas in April 2020. And we kept him 4 more years!!!

Hello, I'm a Dundee FC fan and would just like to confirm what the previous poster has suggested - Gardiner, or 'Spoofer' as we referred to him was an absolute cretin to staff and club supporters and there's not one of us that wasn't delighted when he left. He got lucky when the club was sold to the current owners and he left when he realized he wasn't going to be allowed to do whatever he wanted anymore

It has been genuinely astounding to most of us that he was ever allowed near a football club again. Incompetent to say the least.

It saddens me to hear of ICT's plight and hope things improve for you.

However, the second period of administration for Dundee FC led to an amazing undefeated run which helped us overturn a 25 point penalty and finish 3rd or 4th in the Championship using a skeleton squad with youth and trialists playing every week.

The situation injected a determination into the side and it was a great time to be a supporter as we knew that every player on the park was cutting it above their weight.

So hopefully we'll see the same at ICT, good luck!

Many fans from Dundee/Hearts warned us of Gardiner's 'abilities'. However we had two successive chairman/boards who seemed to be quite happy to sit back and literally give him 100% latitude with zero KPIs, targets or accountability. To this day the previous chairman says he's been vilified 🤣. Despite the evidence being that he's not done ONE THING that's improved or furthered the club in over half a decade. 

We've been failed by Gardiner due to his arrogance, narcissism and hubris but we've been failed by the board too with their inaction and utter gullibility. 

Some fans saw this coming ages ago but were dismissed as trolls etc. What did they know eh?

Gardiner was 'victimised horrendously' according to Ross Morrison !

I'm of the opinion that Morrison is as culpable as Gardiner for the club's predicament. He put blind faith in Gardiner, and still seems to be in denial that Gardiner did anything wrong?!?

The club/board was well warned about Gardiner's appointment at the time, by many fans of other clubs and our own, yet they continued to allow him to run the club completely unsupervised for 5 years!!!

I hope so too and thanks for the kind words. Said yesterday we need that siege mentality and a bit of a chip on our shoulder as our motivation or edge to go out and just what Dundee did. We need to back Scott Kellacher and Billy Mckay to the hilt as they try to do this. What an introduction to football management for both of them - Scott with his first appointment as #1 and Billy as #2. Lets take each game one at a time, score some goals and get some wins !! None of this complicated ****, just play football at its most basic and simple level.

Indeed. I know a Hearts fan over here who I go to games with and his exact words to me at the time were "what the living f*** are you guys doing. don't let that **** anywhere near your club". Most fans I know have the same opinion that Ross Tokely mentioned in the press today, and when a club legend with almost 600 appearances over all divisions speaks up like that, then we should listen. Its a shame however that the board spent all that time not listening.
