Always good to get a friendly game against one of the lower league teams 😀

  • Im hoping that "big No 20" isnt playing for ICT?? And any team that likes to **** about at the back, deserve to get pummeled. It really is the biggest turn off in the modern game.....yet so many do i

  • This game is the dodgy uncle that nobody should ever talk about, and instead we just pretend that it never existed.

This pre-season game was played at the neutral venue of Grant Street, Inverness as the Caledonian Stadium surface was still being treated ahead of new season.

A minutes applause was held prior to Kick-Off as a mark of respect for former Caley Jags director David Cameron who passed away earlier this week.

New signings Hamzad Kargbo & Ryan Duncan started in a reasonably strong line-up for the Caley Jags who still had T14 & T15 down as trialists but better known as Dan Mackay & T15 (Joe Walters)

Noteworthy timeline events...

8' | Lindsay’s strike flies over the bar after nice work from Chin on the right wing.

10' | Chance for ICT from a free-kick but Akil Wright clears the danger.

29' | Emslie slices a strike wide as Graham collects the follow up, but Ross Munro collects his shot.

35' | Brian Graham has an effort cleared off the line after a great cross from Randall.

35' | GOALLLLLL COUNTY!! Richard Chin slams it home!!

40' | Chance for ICT but it is turned wide of the post after a good cut back.

HALF TIME 0-1

Not impressed so far. ICT need to treat this a bit more seriously in my mind, County sharper and bossing midfield. Too much back and fore across the back. The big no 20.... I've seen a granny on a zimmer quicker.

Time to go home now...

47’ | 0-1 Good move from ICT as Adam Mackinnon sees his effort go over the bar and behind.

51' | GOAAAAAALLL COUNTY! Jamie Lindsay fires home on the volley! What a hit!

53' | GOOOOOAALLLLL COUNTY! Adam Emslie slips it home after some brilliant work down the right from, Richard Chin!

An avalanche of substitutions around the hour mark slowed County down from scoring for a bit...

70’ | 0-3 Good ball from Luis Longstaff is headed over by Morgan Bates

76’ | 0-3 Luis Longstaff’s corner finds Shae Keogh in the box but his header is over the bar.

82’ | 0-3 Ross Munro produces a good save to keep out Kieran Phillips

86' | GOOOOOALLLL COUNTY! Keiran Phillips sprints through the defence and slots home!

FULL TIME: 0-4

We were Gudgied, time to go and hide for a day or two.

Dingwall grandkid just called to say ict had zero shots on target. Is he right or extracting the urine out of the old guy.

A disappointing afternoon, and a lot of work to do before the competitive games start.

County deserved their win, particularly as they bossed the second half with the wind advantage after a first half that was quite even.

For me, Chin was the difference. We just couldn’t handle him whilst we’d no one who could trouble County.

Too often, we were sloppy in possession or lost the duels for 50/50 balls, and County seemed hungrier.

A lot to do before 1 August (and ideally before next Saturday as we could do with confidence boosting results in the cup).

Anyone know what the attendance was? Seemed like a really good turnout.

Sent me the stats, 8 shots, ZERO on target.

No lies being told to the old man, we were terrible and let County run the show in the second half 😬

Think Scotty has been influenced by the Steve Clarke school of tactics! That was awful. ' Bit to go ' Hmmmm lomg way to go! And i heard that the big guy Kargbo has signed a 1 yr deal... Schitts Creek Comedy GIF by CBC

Anyone else heard the rumour the east fife game might be played at grant Street again?

Pre season friendlies are ‘Exactly what it’s says on the Tin’. Unless there was a particular player or team I was wanting to see I tended to give them a miss as they are normally hard work on the eye.

0-4 to our close neighbours serves some purpose I imagine in that it’s a clear wake-up call. To use one of Kells post match comments - He’s learned a lot today and we need to be better attacking and defining. Good, that’s the objective! Expected improvement to follow.

Maybe, But having watched that sh1t show its hard to 'unsee'.

This is the first game me and the kids have seen this pre-season. Good to see some of last years experienced players and introducing some new talent. To be fair, my kids got bored in the second half when the 4th goal went in ( they are quite young) , but they did get a high five from Shinnie as he headed off the park, so they were happy. Others around me not too impressed by the new signings, but Kel has a knack of getting the best out of people, so time will tell. I do agree with some that County looked miles better and full of fight, and we looked well off it. Hoping for a reaction against Cove on a Tuesday night.

2 x Alfies starting Spoony & Chalmers turn up

Last pre-season game at Cove Rangers ended in a 1-4 win for the Caley Jags

Goals from Trialist (no 14 Dan Mackay), Ryan Duncan, Morgan Bates and Hamzad Kargbo give us the win in our final pre-season match.

Highlights picked off X

ICT v Cove preseason.jpeg10' | 0-1 GOAL! Trialist No 14 Dan Mackay gives us the lead!

20' | 0-1 Good save from Logan Ross as he tips Trialist (No 14) for Cove's effort

22' | 1-1 GOAL! Destiny Oladipo uses his power & strength to equalise! After a Cove team.jpegdelightful touch on the halfway line, Destiny holds off numerous challengers as he burst towards the Inverness goal before chopping inside and striking low past Ross with the aid of a deflection. A brilliant solo goal from the big man!

27' | 1-1 Spoony's corner finds Devine in the box but his header is over.

30' | 1-1 Good pass from Alfie Stewart finds Alfie Bavidge but his effort is saved by Robbie Mutch.

HALF TIME: 1-1

48' | 1-2 GOAL!! Great play from Ryan Duncan down the right as he drives into the box and fires it past Robbie Mutch.

55' | 1-2 Another great run from Oladipo shrugging off 3 players but his effort is saved by Logan Ross.

59' | 1-2 Joe Chalmers sees his effort from range saved by Robbie Mutch

64' | 1-3 GOAL! Morgan Bates heads in from close range!

72' | 1-3 Good ball in from Graeme Shinnie is headed over by Hamzad Kargbo

73’ | Chance for Cove to reduce the deficit. A slack pass from Ross falls kindly to Fraser, who drills a shot straight into the goalkeeper’s chest. The rebound drops to Stephen, who looks to place his effort into the corner, but Ross recovers brilliantly from his earlier mistake, producing an excellent save with his foot.

86' | 1-4 GOAL! Hamzad Kargbo heads in from close range as he finishes Liam Sole's cross!

That ended the scoring with everyone getting a run out.

FULL TIME: 1-4

Much better performance tonight after Saturday's nightmare on Grant Street. Great to see Alfie Stewart back in the heart of midfield and solid enough performances across the board. Ryan Duncan took his goal very well and two nice headers from Bates and Kargbo late on. Kerr Smith looked pretty steady alongside Danny as partner in the centre half pairing for bulk of the game. Also interesting to see Shae Keogh replace Calum McLeod at right back at half-time. The squad is certainly shaping up now. Bring on the Fifers.
