  1. Well - here is the match report - it is from a wee notebook that fell out of Mary Hills' handbag as he fell asleep in the Horseshoe last nite Well that was another fine Caley Away day with Terry and Mo which started on the chimes of 11 in Central Station and ended in the Govan Hilton after yet another stunning performance of "Father and Son" in the Lesbian Karaoke - apparently I am now known as Mr Keating Senior in Govan. Was nice to see Mann4theJob joining the MOB and joining in with the drinking, the singing and the DANCING - wait till Johnboy reads this !! And the Rescue Mission to the Tink just added to the joy of the day. We talked to some FanniesKilmarnock supporters in Fanny's and they all appeared to be under the impression that they were robbed - My summary of the game was that we defended really well and were always looking to be the more likely to score on the break - even when it was 2-1. It was a similiar last 15 minutes to the Midden game and - of course we were biting our nails - but it really could have ended up as 3-1 rather than 2-2. If Killie have a good look at themselves they created chances but blew the feckin lot of them - it was'nt down to Lady Luck - their finishing was atrocious - in fact thier last ball was atrocious and they did nowt in the last third. We took both our chances and that is what wins football games. At the death we deserved to get the three points and they did'nt. I would go as far as saying that we werent at our best but were good enuff on the day. As fer the goals - it WAS a penalty - but the Killie fans were shouting that they had a free kick in the run up and they were also claiming that Rooney was offside - only the highlights will sort that out - and as fer the second - well Wright made a Jimmy Zadi - esque mess of it but Hayes did exceptionally well and tucked it away in the bottom corner. I am also surprised that nobody mentioned Ryan Esson as I though that he was outstanding again - BUT wait till ya feckin see who got my MOM. The first 45 minutes was even stevens but I felt that we edged it - Duncan fluffed a half chance after a Hayes mazy run, a Rooney cross *** shot could have gone in - and did'nt he take the penalty well - and then Joe Pascali blew a great chance in the dying moments of the first half - and to me that summed the poor Killie performance up. They unsurprisingly came out with a vengeance in the second half - they again missed a couple of good chances but I feel that you have to give credit to Esson who did enuff to put them off - Have to say I thought that Shinnie handled and a penalty could be given - and I am not sure whether the ref played advantage and Killie blew it, Esson parried and Shinnie cleared off the line. When Hayes scored we sat back - understandably - but I would echo that although they scored we were the better team - will have to watch the highlights but where were the central defenders fer the goal. ESSON Personally I would go as far as saying that he is one of the main reasons for our away form - he doesnt always get the credit for his postional work and/or his attacking urgency. DUFF Born to be a right back, even though he may prefer to be a midfielder - adds that touch of calmness and solidity to the back four - and he can play a ball to boot. TOKELY Quietly effective - no nonsense but still feel that we need an experienced centre half. Rosscoe's positioning at times is still the full back mentality but he evidently makes up fer it in determination and committment. MUNRO Quietly effective as well but he is a central defender and covers well fer Rosscoe as he doesnt have to worry too much over both the full backs. SHINNIE Once again gave us a no nonsense performance and held his own - he survived despite being tactically "targetted" by Killie - especially in the case of the overlapping Hamill - but Shinnie more than stood his ground. Shame fer the lad but I think that Gillet will be back in when he is fit but we have unearthed yet another fine SPL compliant, local squad player. HAYES He does som wonderful things and catches the eye - if he could learn how to put in a consistent 90 minute perfomance he could be a real classy individual - but he makes up for that with his tanner ba wing style and defenders must quake when he runs at them. ROSS Appeared to change his position and role on 3-4 occasions - this possibly deflected from his performance but he was tireless - As per Shinnie he may be warming the bench again when Cox returns but he waont let us down. DUNCAN Welcome back Russeldhino - he just simply holds the central area and must be a real influence on all around him. FORAN Quieter than usual but he appeared to be swopping with Ross a few times - I feel he is far more effective when playing wide left and he is not as good in central midfield - but I suspect that TB is becoming more confident in playing Ross. ERIC Yes he is my MOM - it could have been a toss up between 3-4 yesterday but Eric is the most improved player this season. His workrate and even his harrassing was excellent yesterday and he ran himself in to the ground. ROONEY Scored the penalty, ran the lone striker role well and his hold up play is as good as anybody. he was the focus of the "IHE watch" yesterday and I would say that if he improved in his movement up front then he will progress further. He can be a touch lackadaisical at times - mainly when he is not involved - and if he learned how to pull defenders out then he would be ACE. MORRISON / SUTHERLAND - one to replace the tiring Eric and one to eat up time but who could have predicted - apart from my good self of course - that we would end a game beating Killie 2-1 away from home with Shinnie, Ross, Morrison and Sutherland all on the pitch at full time. TERRY AND MO - probaly got the tactics just right yesterday and a better team selection. STEWARDING - Excellent - no bother at all. AWAY SUPPORT - excellent as ever but a wee round of applause for a very brave Iain Coia - must have taken some strength to get there yesterday and bury a few hatchets - if it is any impetus to carry on supporting ICT - I fer one felt that Ali was standing there beside him and always will be.

  2. OK Dougal... your campaign to change the name hasn't been too successful with over 90% voting for the status quo, so it now seems that you now want to relocate instead. So, given that an extensive study was made of this by Bruce Hare in 1993 and the realistic options in and around Inverness were very limited indeed, where would you be planning to go? I note that you include the Bught, or another City Centre localtion among your suggestions in your poll, whilst almost in the same breath bemoaning traffic congestion at East Longman. Strewth! In the absence of a bypass which remains as remote a prospect as ever, how on earth do you propose to get even a bottom of the range crowd of 3500 from the Bught along Glenurquhart Road and many of them then over the Ness Bridge at 5 o'clock on a Saturday? Then think "Old Firm" and double that up to 7000. But, since you've raised the issue, how about also giving us an overview of how the ICT Trust would fund this, unless you reckon it can be done solely by selling on the remaining 83 years of the East Longman lease? Finally, could I unobtrusively ask if you have read "Against All Odds"? In particular the chapter entitled "Finding A Home" discusses stadium location issues in some depth and the book hopefully also sheds some light on why, for instance, the stadium design and club name are as they are.

  3. If it were true that people were being targeted, then I would be top of the bad reputation list. Funnily enough though, IMO should you look at the two reputation tables, they actually come out with a pretty accurate list of who we should and shouldn't bother listening to.

  4. CaleyThistleOnline has been asked by 'Bronson', one of our long time members, to post the following story/information regarding an organisation called Cafe Football and we are happy to oblige. My name is Simon Macdonald and I work for the Highland Council as a family support worker. Over the years I have helped to create a football group for teenagers with learning, physical, social and emotional difficulties who attend all the home Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club games. I have developed a great relationship with ICT and was recently approached about becoming involved with an organisation called "CAFE FOOTBALL" . CAFE stands for "Centre for Access to Football in Europe" and one of their vision's is to improve the footballing experience for supporters with disabilities by setting up local supporters groups and raising awareness of any issues. CAFE FOOTBALL have the support of Uefa, the SPL and the SFL and are to meet with the SFA soon. Disability Support Associations are now in place at Aberdeen, Dundee, Dundee United, Dunfermline, East Fife, Falkirk, Hearts, Kilmarnock, Livingston, Motherwell and Rangers and all these clubs have pledged their support. Although DSA's are not in place at Airdrie, Celtic, Hibs, ICT, St Johnstone and St. Mirren, positive contacts have been established and it is hoped that they will soon be on board too. I have been in touch with Keith Ferguson the UK and Eire Development Officer and we have arranged a meeting on Monday 25th October at 7pm at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium to which any disabled supporters, family members, carers and representatives from organisations are invited. Keith will be there and will hopefully be able to gain the views of those interested and look into the possibility of creating a Disabled Supporters Association for the club. I would also appreciate it if you could forward this information to anyone you think would be interested in attending the meeting and I ask that those interested in attending send me a private message to enable me to gauge interest levels and numbers. [send PMs to username Bronson] I look forward to meeting all interested parties on the 25th, Regards Simon Macdonald

  6. It was so strange yesterday, on the Supporters bus, and at the game, without Gordy. We missed him so much. Our sincerest sympathies are with his family - he spoke of his grandchildren especially and they are in our thoughts.

  8. In general it is pleasing to see that the vast majority of members use the system sensibly and are generally positive in how they use it. The fact that far more green dots are used than red dots is proof of that. The system is good because it gives members a very quick way to acknowledge agreement or disagreement. It also often highlights posts that are worth reading if you haven't time to read all the posts. If anyone is regularly abusing the system then I feel they should have the function taken from them but there is another way of dealing with the problem - if you see a post which you feel has been voted down unfairly, then vote it up. Simple!

  9. I'd keep it. Too often, on things like P&B, those with the loudest voices aren't necessarily those that have the most reasonable views. I think this actually prevents bullying more than promotes it. Look how much taunting Renegade had to endure before the dots - yet now, he has a positive reputation. If someone is being overly critical, like they were of Nick Ross, there was little way of knowing if that was the majority view or not. Now, it's easier to see whether most think that criticism is justifiable or over the top. And if you're not interested (I would doubt anyone was seriously bothered) in what people think of your views and those of others, what on Earth are you doing on a forum?

  10. Same GD, we're fifth in alphabetical order Is it not on goals scored? Hearts have put in one more than us. Anyway, getting as many points as possible between us and 12th place will do fine for me

  11. If any poster wants to target someone else let him/her come out in the open and put his/her thoughts in a post on the thread. Then there is no suspicion of this being underhand. I very occasionally post a dot, predominantly green ones(by far), but I can't honestly see the merit in having this type of value system which has no requirement to justify itself openly. Mahonio has a point and a half and maybe it's time to review the worth of keeping the red/green dot addition to this site. My vote?--terminate it.

  14. You have a point there, I was chatting to about 9000 people in the pub the other night and they all said if the name changed they would be chomping at the bit to watch Inverness Highland Scotland UK united play football. Regarding all the so called stay aways from the merger, what was the average highland league attendance at the 2 clubs and what would be a realistic percentage of people staying away 5% ? IMO the majority of so called abstainers are people who didn't actually go to any matches, have no interest in football but instead have invented a reason to talk about why they don't go to watch footy.

  15. Do you not think that it is the clearly mature, inteligent, descriptive, articulate and attractive individuals who get the most green dots awarded to them ?

  20. Ive been to grounds in city centres throughout the Uk and Europe many in very built up areas where the crowds are on a lot larger scale than ICT I personally would like to see a 10k stadium at the Bught similar to St Johnstones but with all four corners filled in The poster who mentioned the crowd at bonfire night is 100% correct as there are bigger crowds then, than they ever will be at any football matches A move to the bught would attract at least 500-1000 more than we get at present Finally i havent read "Against All odds" i find it highly amusing that nearly every post you make you seem to make a reference to it:laugh: Don't think i'll be rushing out to buy one somehow even if they are still in print Dougal

  22. Ok our home form is rubbish while our away form is rather impressive My reckoning being its down to one reason and thats because of the location and design of the Caledonian Stadium Surely if we moved to a purpose built stadium in the city we would attract more punters through the turnstyles The present location is not good enough its difficult to get there and its at best cold and windy even on summer days I'm surprised that ICT were even given permission to build a stadium there due to its proximity to the A9 and the resulting congestion it causes to the road user on match days I would much prefer a more central location preferably somewhere in the town with seating all around the pitch and not just three sides like it is at the moment No doubt i'll hear that its a beautiful location and all that but its football we are here to see not to admire the passing yachts or to spot the odd jumping dolphin Its time for the club to move onto the next level and that will be achieved by moving stadium in my mind Thoughts? • Kelty Hearts Training Statement
What a farce we have become, a laughing stock: Did you hear the one about the footbal team from the Highlands of Scotland that want to train at Cowdenbeath? Unfortunately, unlike our board, this is not a joke. Our board are trying to rip our identity from the Highlands and replace it with shared training at Kelty Hearts. I kid you not, this is not a drill and the clowns that run our club appear to be delighted at this coup.

    • Relegation Statement
RELEGATION STATEMENT: This could have been said ten minutes after our defeat to Hamilton three days ago. So far, this is not the news that we on Caley Thistle Online wanted to hear. Pleased that we will still function as a club, disappointed that resignations have not been offered yet. Keeping fans waiting in silence for three days is unforgivable and relationships are drifting further apart than ever before. Silence is not the way forward, we deserve better as fans.

    • Inverness CT 2-3 (3-5) Hamilton - Play off final (relegation)
RELEGATED: Despite Inverness needing to get off the mark quickly, it was Accies that killed the tie inside the first fifteen minutes with strikes from Kevin O'Hara and Lewis Smith. Cammy Kerr reduced the leeway with a good strike from distance, but O'Hara struck again with a penalty before the break to diffuse the revival. We struggled to create anything of note and this reporter could not stomach any more and left the stadium. I'm told Alex Samuel pulled a goal back in stoppage time, but like the rest of the season it was too little too late.

    • Hamilton 2-1 Inverness CT - Play off final 1st Leg
A better showing from Inverness in the second half, especially with Lawal and Pepple on the park but it's Hamilton that take a one goal advantage up the A9 on Saturday. Lawal has been the standout performer in our last few games and surely he must start on Saturday. Pepple also did well, scored the goal, had an effort saved and got in a few balls across the box from tight positions.

Still, a shocker of a first half and we must be up for it from the start on Saturday.
