  1. There has been a great turn out from ex Caley players who want to play in Roy's testimonial to mark his ten years service to the club. Mark Brown, Jimmy Calder, Bobby Mann, Stuart McCaffrey, Barry Wilson, Liam Keogh, Barry Wilson, Charlie Christie, Paul Sheerin, Dennis Wyness, Graham Bayne & Craig Brewster have all signed up for the night and John Robertson and Pele are going to be managers for the night. Looks like it is going to be a good night with alot of the old faces coming back to Inverness for the night.

  2. I am very suprised you have a (as you put it) 'partner' at all Dougal. If you talk as much p1sh to her as you post on here I'm even more surprised.

  3. There are indeed more women going to matches. In general this is a good thing but it can occasionally lead to some inappropriate behaviour. This was the case yesterday as IHE reported.

  5. Excellent feedback guys. Sounded dire on the radio, especially first half. I agree about jugulars, we should be putting teams away sooner and relieve the stress factor.

  6. Jings, this thread again. It is exactly what everyone is saying. At home the vocalists are spread about, the stewarding is bizarre (for 'home' stewards) and the watering hole too distant. Away you have, these days, a sensible place to congregate next to the ground with the opposition fans and a good deal of banter and alcohol, a compacted support that provides the team with a focus point...Eric, next time you score an important goal at Ibrox, the other corner, ok? THE OTHER CORNER! There must be a lot of pressure for these young guys. Even in front of 2019 (WTF?) supporters yesterday the pressure to perform must be fairly intense...and public. A couple of hundred adoring away supporters are bound to make you feel a bit more comfy than 3000 of your own kind ready to jump on your back at the first opportunity! And don't forget there are hundreds of us out here who are away day specialists because we don't live north of Aviemore. Never have. My grandmother was an Invernesian...so when Naelifts suggested we buy shares in 'this new SFL club' I thought, yep...let's do it. The 90s, Caley Inn, Innes, TCS...fantastic; away days - among the best days of my life. The players (and Terry and Mo) are simply responding to a lessening of pressure and an unapologetic worshipping. Wouldn't you perform better?

  7. Right its not got anything to do with away fans being better than the home fans cos the large majority of away fans also attend the home games. The difference is at home some people, rightly, who arent too interested come along for a day out. Away from home everyone appears up for joining in a song etc. This is all made more enjoyable by our unbeaten record. Personally I love the away games and I think the players show a different response to the away croud because those who got behind the team are all together. At home people are so spread out the fist pumping wouldnt have the same effect. I think terry gives such a strong reaction to the away fans because he realises how hard it is for many people to get to the games. End of rant

  8. Do you think.on an ICT fans forum that I don't think he'll be at ict much longer. is going to get you approval ratings? As far as I know, those who could have played u-17 this season yet have been signed on contracts to ICT for two years...as opposed to those u-18s signings who have only a year to show their ability to attract a contract for next season.....and those who will be out of the u-19 criteria at re-signing time at the end of this season with no sure prospect of being picked up by anybody . He may well not stay...but he is here until the end of next season. What he does after that will depend on whether he wants to have the kudos of signing for a big club to sit on benches, or be sold on... or get games with ICT.. Seems to me, given Terry Butcher's "if he is good enough he is old enough" philosophy as illustrated by Nick Ross et al , current youth signings at any level, i f they want to play and be noticed should be sticking with ICT and not joining the Rangers/Celtic/Teams down in England treadmill which mostly exist to produce players with their brand to make them more saleable on the football market.Let's get real.........many big clubs don't take on youth players with a view to anything other than making profit from them and stopping them playing for their rivals. Cynical re the way football as a business works....I most definiely am!

  11. Leave Dougal alone - He is merely a lonely, gay person who is getting in touch with his feminine side. His partner is a male blow up doll and he is not referring to female looks or knowledge of football - he is referring to their fashion and make up - becos you should understand that he is wearing something similar as he types away in his wee flat on Kinnairdie Brae. One should have compassion with transexuals and not ridicule them. All power to ya Dougal Gudgie Cof.

  14. Leave what out mate??? Where did I say any of them are better than what's there at the moment?? I'm talking about strengthening the squad as we strive towards a sixth place All three would be welcome additions only a walloper would think otherwise

  16. As someone mentioned Collina... I don't know why he and other continental refs are so lauded. Every time a player gets even vaguely hassled for the ball, down they go like a pack of spuds. They've not been fouled or even harshly tackled. Yet, every time, a continental ref will give the decision against the player trying to get the ball. It's made diving acceptable and the game pretty much a non-contact sport. Give me a Scottish ref - crap though they are (prefer English refs but keep it quiet) - over these over picky stop/start European whistlers.

  17. I think the more people go on about and/or try to analyse the whole "home v away" thing, the more it plays on the mind of the players and the bigger a hurdle it is going to be for them to overcome. The players are every bit as appreciative for the home support as they are for the away support and I have witnessed nothing that suggests they acknowledge one any more than the other. The sooner our fans can get over the need for the recurring c*ck measuring contest that comes up every now and again about which fans are better than others for whatever reason...be it home v away, north stand v main stand or whatever other criteria you wish to dream up...then the better it will be for everyone.

  20. oK...........sneaked on to the work computer. Night shift tonight will be a breeze after another phenomenal away day. We were poor in the first half and, to be fair, Accies played some nice stuff when they had the ball. Imrie's goal was well taken and he did well to control himself when running behind the goal to celebrate. I DISAGREE with all the bile coming from our support and in his direction. Fun is fun and I enjoy a good wind-up as much as the next man, but the paedo stuff crossed a line. Back to the game and after 15 crazy minutes of the second half we were in heaven and potentially looking at a big score. Rooney's first was a gift but he still had to finish. Johnny piled in for a second and a glorious jump and header into the postage stamp by Adam completed the scoring. Rooney had 30 mins to complete a hat-trick.............have we had one in the SPL???. We let Hamilton press thereafter. I believe Ryan made a stupendous point-blank save (I did not see it as I was texting scores around the globe)........it is so good to have him between the sticks....there are few better around. The temperature dropped markedly as full time approached reminding us that we are now entering winter and that the hard work needs to continue or we easily slip a few league places. Richie, I say again, needs to get himself fit .......he is SO obviously carrying at least one injury. It is Butchers shout when we can best do without him........he was towering in the air today. Special mention to Ross, Shinnie, Duff......oh hell .....the lot of them. And Tel for giving us a great send off. You guys who are not travelling to away fixtures (but could) are really missing out on something special......it won't last forever and may never happen again. Come on down and enjoy.

  22. You've summed up this thread perfectly Naelifts. I doubt we have a Lowe or higher percentage of female fans attending games than other other club in the SPL.

  25. Got to admit i'm pleasantly surprised regarding the amount of women that attend the Caledonian stadium, i sit in the main stand normally and around about me there are usually quite a few, one or two are even quite pleasing on the eye Before the snipers start firing i'm by no way saying this is a bad thing because i think it important the club welcomes everyone through the turnstyles despite the odd cringeworthy shout Having said all that my partner hates football and the only time she's being in the stadium was for Elton John & Rod Stewart You have to ask though do the majority really understand the game and its rules Have ICT always had a large following of the female persuasion? Dougal

  26. I specialise in contoversial topics as the majority on here seem somewhat afraid to do so When you say you were involved in running Caley does this mean collecting the raffle money or cutting up the oranges for half time?? I applaud absolutely everyone who plays his or her part in the running of a football club no matter how small the part is, providing its not to line their own pockets of course
