  1. Is it not ok to be upset with the current squad? People who are very upset have the right to say so, people who are upset but see the positives are also right to say so. But the linking factor is this, people are upset with what is happening at ICT! Perfectly reasonable to be less than happy with what's on display. I just don't see Jay7 as a happy clapper somehow. The unreasonable part is making provocative comments to fellow fans for having a different opinion. For what it's worth I agree with most points made in the case against ICT, but completely ignoring our situation this year is like believing what you want to believe. I'm as cheesed off as the next person about our plight, if you have read any of the previews/reports on here then you will see where I'm coming from, but certain posters on here and on P&B are content to slag the club and moreso fellow fans off at the drop of a hat. We are verging on Old Firm hysteia here. Let's look at our league position. Of course it's crap, we know it's crap, the manager know's it's crap and I'm pretty sure the players know it's crap. However, we are in the SPL and will be there next season with our lovely neighbours from over the bridge. Fans expectations is the one that sets off the alarm bells. We should be beating them, we should be beating whoever, how did we lose that. We have no more right to win any game than the opposition have, thats why they are there playing us. Old Firm mentality I'm afraid. By all means express your doubts as to where you think it's all gone pear shaped, but if someone else believes otherwise then let them have their say, it's a forum for discussion, good or bad, we swing both ways on here. But personal attacks on fellow posters just ruin what can be a constructively negative post, and becomes point scoring instead. People who dish out insults should expect some in return, that's the way of the world I'm afraid. There are dozens of reasons for what is wrong this season. Grant Munro Terry Butcher Maurice Malpas Quality Passion Injuries Suspensions Tactics Expectations Top-Six Danni Sanchez Free Kicks Greg Tansey Corners Own Goals Long balls No Balls Strikers, or lack of them Defenders Continuity Apathy Safety Net Fans on yer backs Negativity Confidence etc etc etc to the Nth degree What's right this season Dunfermline 6-3 at Killie erm, erm We now know that our main striker can't score goals We now Know that our defenders can't defend the seasons nearly over

  2. The same starting line up as Sunday and even add Christie, Wilson, Macbain, Wilson, Mann and Calder as Subs!

  3. Whatever spin you may choose to put on this thread CD it is perfectly legitimate to question his absence in recognition of the hugely important position he holds within the club. It shows a huge lack of respect for players that are far more important to supporters than he ever will be, a distinct lack of judgement and ultimately, insults the people who pay his wages. For me it is far more important than just the no show. The departure of Grant was appalling and never explained to the support. He refused to acknowledge that the testimonial was taking place in the programme or in the media leading up to it. He declined an invitation to attend. There was no message after the match in the hospitality or per match over the tannoy. Patently, he holds no interest in the history of the club or respect for these who have contributed. Arrogant and insulting. Ask yourself this, if Brewster had done this would you be defending him? I can't answer for you but am pretty sure that many who are on here defending Butcher the Ipswich, Rangers, England and media legend do so because of his image, history and profile. Certainly not his performance and behaviour.

  4. It may have been mentioned before but there was an article in the paper about the Caley Thistle team on Saturday and how the none of the starting 11 were Scottish. Pretty embarrassing really. All the way through the divisions and up until not long ago we had a team that was almost exclusively Scottish with the odd foreigner here and there. Is this a reason why there is no fight in the team, with some players only on loan as well. People will say that all footballers are mercenaries but if you look at Tokely after a defeat he walks straight off the park raging, it actually really matters to him. We need more players like that who actually care whether we win or lose. Yes if we were winning it wouldn't be a problem but we aren't. I would rather support a Caley Thistle team with local or Scottish players who care a little than a team full of half bit foreigners.

  5. Perfectly valid reason for not being there. Now what is the reason for no message or comment on his behalf on the day or in his pre match press conference or programme notes ? For example- "Unfortunately I am unable to attend Grant and Russell's special day. No doubt they will get a fantastic welcome from all at ICT for the service given to the club over many years. As the manager of the club I am well aware of the just how highly they are thought of by everyone, staff and supporters alike. They deserve all the plaudits they get and our sincere thanks for the enormous contribution to help take the club to where it is now. Have a great day boys!" I'm not that hard to please really

  6. Another way to look at this, if we take the example of any other business/company/firm outside of football for a moment, if a firm were to hold a function for long-standing employees then i for one would expect the boss to be there regardless if he did/did not see eye to eye with the person(s) the function was being held for. From this perspective i am dissapointed in Terry not being in attendance

  7. The SFA do have rules and procedures in place regarding "Fit and Proper" persons. Rangers completed all the necessary paperwork that showed he was....i.e. they lied to the SFA. I believe that is the reason they have been fined. The embargo is in relation to the non-payment of PAYE and NIC...in other words they have demonstrated an inability to responsibly employ players. I would say the punishments are entirely fitting and despite what some might have you believe, they are not being punished for being in administration by the SFA.....although it is entirely possible that they could yet face further sanctions for bringing the game into disrepute.

  8. I don't often get time to post on here but I do like to keep up to date with my fellow fans opinions and I can more than identify with the frustration that is filling all of us at the moment. I'm not the first and I certainly won't be the last to say that this has quite possibly, with exception the relegation year, been the worst season that ICT have ever experienced. With expectations raised by our current manager at the start of the season, we went into the campaign expecting a lot. The season has been marred by serious injuries, like no other ICT squad have ever had, a lack of consistency but the bottom line is that the reason we're sitting where we are is down to a lack of fight, passion, desire and quite frankly ability within the current squad. It truly has been a miserable season but while many may chose to turn their back on ICT, I for one am trying to look forward to next season. Our SPL status is almost certainly secure and we now have a very important few months ahead of us as we try and re-group as a club and build a squad that is capable of challenging at a higher level next season. We as supporters may feel that criticising Butcher is the correct thing to do but the bottom line is that he will not be leaving in the next few months and it's time that we suck it up and get behind OUR CLUB and choose to support the team whatever it may look like. Whether people want Butcher here or not really isn't the issue as late Dundee United chairman Eddie Thompson said "Directors, managers and players come and go but the supporters stay with the club forever". This is OUR club and our loyalty shouldn't depend on who is managing the team or playing on the pitch. We're about to be joined by our Highland neighbours in the top flight for the first time ever. This is the time that we must unite and back our club (including manager and players) to make sure that we stay the Highlands top and most successful team. That starts with the supporters continued loyalty! So where all seems dull and bleak, let's look on next season as a fresh start for the club and an opportunity for further Highland success. Who knows maybe just maybe we'll be pushing for a European place this time next year!

  10. I agree with the loanees part, makes sense to only play players who are fighting for a new contract. I would also like to see youngsters getting a chance, they would surely be able to show to some passion for getting first team action. Calum Dingwall and Kyle White did not look out of place at the testimonial game on Sunday against County and i see no reason why they shouldnt get a chance, add to this Liam Polworth who should get a chance in the closing games of the season

  12. An event to honour two ICT Legends and all you seem to be worried about is using it to score points in some kind of Butcher Witch Hunt. Give yourselves a shake, ffs.

  14. Fair enough... Here goes. Butcher brought in David Davies, Andrew Shinnie, Gregory Tade, Greg Tansey, and Roman Golobart. Arguably 5 of our star performers this season. Unfortunately Davies chose to pursue his dreams with Wolves and Shinnie, who was slow to start, turned out to be a real fans favorite and is on the long term injury list. Billy MacKay has shown glimpses of brilliance as has OTJ since his return from long term injury, both of whom Butcher brought in. Williams has also been brilliant since his arrival (I'll mention here that his is another Butcher signing) as has Josh Meekings (who, oh wouldn't you adam and eve it. He's a butcher signing too). Along with his other previous signings for this club, Club Captain Foran, Star player Hayes, Current goalkeeper Tuffey and of course Chris Hogg, I'd say that Terry Butcher has done damn good for Inverness! Granted, perfomances have been shocking (more so latterly), and no performance has been more boring in recent times than Saturday's game against Aberdeen. But when was the last time any of us saw a season where the manager has to change his squad almost every week because of a tweek here and a niggle there? The best we've managed in terms of the same starting 11 was 3 or 4 games around the festive period! All other times, Butcher has had no option but to mess with the squad to find the best fit. What irks me most is that people forget all this because they're still hung up on the releases of GM and RD. Whenever there is a poor performance or bad result, there's almost certainly a comment regarding their release. They're so hung up on it, there's even a thread as to why Butcher didn't turn up for the players' testimonial match.

  17. Kind of getting bored of the Butcher Out brigade, who, lets face it, have been on his case since said release of the two players whose testimonial he supposedly didn't attend (I say supposedly, because I personally don't know if he was or he wasn't). As has been said by others, he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Turn Up, the fans say 'whats he doing here. the hypocrite! he released them now he's praising them. Butcher out' Don't Turn Up, the fans say 'what a disrespectful oaf. why didnt he be the bigger man. butcher out.' I know from personal experience that Butcher doesn't want to over shadow other people's limelight. He refused to join the Highland March lap-of-honour last year in fear it would be ruined by boo's aimed at him because of GM and RD's release. I'm sure, if he did stay away from the testimonial, that this would be his thinking. That if he showed up, the fans would chant away at him for releasing them, rather than showing much deserved support for two legends of the club. Let's also not forget, that although Butcher hasn't said why he released Grant and Russell, neither of these two have come out to say why either!! My own personal opinion on the release is that they were simply surplus to requirements. Lee Cox was quickly over taking Russell in the pecking order, so thats understandable, and the chances are that, following the captaincy issue and the possible friction that maybe came from it, perhaps Butcher, and maybe even Grant, thought the best thing to do was to part ways. There is no doubt we have missed Grant this season, and I agree Butcher is to blame for that. But perhaps the 'butcher out brigade' can give it a rest for the final 4 games of the season, because to be completely honest, i'm getting rather bored of seeing people sprout utter pish at any possible oppertunity!

  18. I doubt if it turned out to be a surprise - just like Tokely following in the footsteps of Munro will not be a surprise - or Butcher finding a role in the pending Glasgow City Rangers regime.

  19. I don't know Butcher personally so I don't know if he is a bully or a coward but I do think he showed a complete lack of class and respect by not showing up on Sunday. I wonder how current players such as Tokely feel about his no show

  20. Stand corrected CD. But what would you expect from a man who refuses to believe in the immaculate conception, thinks donkeys are for carrying wood, stables for keeping horses and that no one, not even Pele, could walk on water!

Tuffey Meekings - Tokely - Williams - Shinnie Hayes Jones Ross Doran Sutherland Winnall At least there's some attacking intention somewhere in there! May not be the heavy crew but at least some skill. Go for broke! It's not like we have to play to save ourselves

  23. Because the team as a whole, simply is not good enough. If it was, do you think we'd be looking at a points tally worthy of relegation? I think the team we were relegated with was better than this one. You saying that squad wasnt good enough? Considering the current crop of players have more or less seen us safe this season? I'm not going to take this debate any further. It seems like you won't be happy until everyone in the current set up is gone. All i will say is transition takes time. Dosen't always necessarily click straight away. Butcher deserves another chance to put his own plans into motion. If we had played like this all season with a fully fit squad then i would've probably called for him to go. But like i said we have fallen foul of just about every disadvantage you could get in a season which have severely hampered any chance of us making progress and i will carry on saying this till im blue in the face. Its at the point now where like the fans, the players probably just want the season to end. This has been a derailed, disrupted and underachieving season but time can be a great healer and who knows what another summer can bring. Roll on 2012-13.

  24. im not going to bother with this arguement anymore youll never be happy with ict from what i can see. you strike me as the sort of person who is never happy. so you continue with your pesimistic drivle. call it what you wish, realistic or whatever not particularly fussed. i can see good things in players you obviously cant and theres no getting through to you.

  25. I think we will be under 37 points tbh. People will go on and on about the injuries. I tell you who's also had an injury ravaged season. Dunfermline. We are lucky they are terrible (and had injury problems).

  26. I had a look at Saturday's programme earlier and from what I can see, Butcher had no intention of going whatsoever. In the programme there is an advert and a little piece about the game which is to be expected. Richie Foran also mentions it in his column and wishes Duncan and Munro well, again as one would expect. Butcher meanwhile doesn't even acknowledge that the game is taking place. Think that says it all.

  28. Sutherland dissing Butcher in public - now that is interesting !!

  29. On a slightly different note I found it quite interesting that in his speech given before the meals in hospitality Mr Sutherland said that although he makes a point of not interfering with the managers decisions it was a massive mistake to release Munro and he didn't agree with it. Was quite surprised that he came out and said that publicly, would have made it even more interesting if Butcher was there! Edit- Spelling, Doh!

  30. OK guys & girls. All posts with references to The Gaffer not showing up bar a couple that have also got other discussion points in them have been split into a new topic, Butchers No Show. Any further post about Butcher on here will be deleted. This thread is to show our support for a pair of ICT died in the wool players, keep it that way please. Rossco was like a man on a mission. It was like a throw back to the olde days with him and Barry overlapping each other and covering for each other seamlessly. Rossco was like Usain Bolt on speed yesterday, quicker than Mapplebeck's whippet out of the traps. Unkucky not to score three or four goals. Great to see the silky skills of Charlie and the eternal possession passing of Bobby Mann, even at 40 stone, now that is a defender. Jimmy Calder did his legendary dribbles to the halfway line and even came up for a corner, think he took a taxi to get back to his own goal line as County cleared the danger. Best entertainment this season at Caledonian Stadium and a decent turn out considering, and well done to County fans for turning out in bigger numbers than most SPL sides have done this season, credit gudgies. And Nessie the mascot was an absolute star at half time, brilliant choreography to entertain the crowd at the break And to Grant and Russell. Thanks guys, you have given plenty to Inverness Caledonian Thistle, I hope they give you plenty in return.
