  1. I renewed mine on Thursday. I debated as to whether or not I would bother as I am studying in Aberdeen at the moment meaning I am between Inverness and there. I didn't get to enough home games to justify having one last year, however I decided that I would get one again partly because of the clubs decision on the newco. I made a point of contacting the club and venting my anger on here and I felt that I and other fans were listened to. I'll just need to make an extra effort to get to more games this year and work it around my uni/work life.

  2. Been away for a few days so this is my first chance to say a heartfelt "well done" to Kenny Cameron and the Board for taking the right decision and putting the integrety of the game before short term financial considerations. I was just delighted to hear the news. But next season will not be easy. The club cannot afford to pay the sort of wages to attract and keep the sort of players we would like to see playing at the TCS so if we want to see the club progress we need to get behind the club and keep supporting the team through thick and thin. There have already been several excellent posts pledging support but we need folk to come through the turnstiles week in and week out and we need those who spent most of last season knocking the club to get behind the team and give them encouragement. The club has given its support to the fans. Now it is time for us to get behind the club and give it our support through the coming season.

  4. The worst and most negative post I have ever seen on this forum, I would hate to be a newly signed player reading this thread. Your a disgrace and your comments are not helpful and not welcome.

  6. I've been concerned for a long time now about how uninspiring our signings have been in the last couple of years, and about the high rate of player turnover. How are we supposed to build any kind of stability and consistency when at least half the first team is being replaced every year? It's also been noted that the team has lost its identity, and I think this is true. As someone who now lives down south and doesn't get to a lot of games, I'm not very familiar with any of our players any more - I think the only one I'd actually recognise on the street is Ryan Esson, and this makes me a little sad. It doesn't feel like "my" team any more, and it definitely doesn't have the same strong identity that it used to, which is a real shame. I don't know what the solution is, but I would certainly like to see more stability and more home-grown players, instead of a bunch of anonymous journeymen.

  7. County aren't some sort of homespun, Old Ma's Kitchen club. They won the First Division by assembling a squad of experienced lower league players under a good manager. Their title winning side didn't feature any youth players and the only local players were ones they'd signed from us who had come through our youth system. That absolutely isn't a criticism of County, the job of the manager and the team is to finish as high as possible and win the league and they did that. It's worth noting though that County signing Ross Tokely hasn't made them into some sort of Highland Dream XI. A lot of people on this site have turned into pantie-knotted knicker-wetting whiners, especially when it comes to County. In terms of our signings, we've always operated in the basement of the transfer market, certainly since we went into the First Division. Most of the players that everyone would laud were rejected previously by other clubs - Barry Robson by Rangers, Dennis Wyness and Russell Duncan by Aberdeen, Liam Keogh at Celtic, Craig Dargo by Killie, Darren Dods by St Johnstone. I'm not sure that this quality of Scottish players is out there in that market any more. Wyness was a youth player who came through at Aberdeen and got released - do we think there's anyone who'd score 20 goals a season in the First Division being released from the AFC youth programme now? If so, who? Dargo was released by Killie and no-one else wanted him, we even had him on trial for a week before offering him a deal - he went on to score 20 goals in his first season. What realistic targets have been released by a Scottish team this close season who you could be confident to any extent of performing like that? I'm not saying that I agree with the signing policy, it's pretty obvious that releasing Grant Munro was a huge error, one that cost us dearly in the league last season. Freeing Tokely could be this summer equivelent but we'll have to see. I can see why we target English players, England is a bigger market and there are literally thousands of players available every summer. The only question is how good are the players we bring in. We signed guys from England last close season and had a disappointing campaign but previously built our promotion winning side with guys brought in from England. We signed loan players (two of our best players last season were loan signings actually) but the results weren't that impressive but look at other examples - Killie signed Alexei Eremenko on loan and he was arguable the best player in Scotland that season, Hearts signed Craig Beattie on loan and he was excellent for them last season.

  8. Whether you agree or disagree, I think it's a bit out of order to be slating these guys and personally insulting them before they've even had a chance to kick a ball in an ICT shirt. I really hope they aren't reading this site and tarring all our fans with the same brush because a few don't posses the common decency of keeping a civil tongue and not prejudging them.

  10. I think it is healthy to have a debate about these things and air views when we are unhappy about the strategy that is being followed on and off the park. We may have very differing and strongly held views on these issues but the bottom line is that wherever the players come from and how long their contracts are for, they are playing for our team and we should join together and welcome them to the club and support them on the park. If we, the fans, can't support the club, why on earth should any of the players be expected to play for the shirt and extend their contracts if they get better offers elsewhere the following year. And if we don't give support to the players we have, we can be pretty certain the club will not be able to afford better players next year.

  11. Yngwie, quite right. If we get relegated into the third division we should still laugh at county, have you ever been to Dingwall? Too many plastic supporters having a county love in. Support your team through thick and thin and man up, stop whingeing that county will be above us this year because they won the 1st division and have signed (unremarkable) scottish players. Being able to say i was wrong or I told you so at the end of the season doesn't help anyone. Football is about passion and love for the club, support it first, love it, then at the end of the season if it doesn't love you back, then get a new one (manager) and love it again. Don't dump it before you get the chance of a cuddle behind the bike sheds. Is IHE a county supporter by the way, that boy loves a moan.

  12. Although I agree that we shouldn't pre judge them, they don't sound like the most inspiring signings. Their careers being punted from pillar to post in the lower leagues of England and Spain doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence. We used to bring in players we thought would be good, now we bring in players we hope will be good. The thing thats most annoying for me now, is that we're not a team anymore. We're a collection of individuals brought in for 1 year then its a whole new team again the next season. I look at Dundee Utd, the amount of players they've brought in from lower leagues (even part time) who have come in and been a huge success. I don't understand why we dont look down there for players, i dare say we could afford some players on part time wages who want to go full time. And whisper it, maybe even a 2 year deal!!

  13. Was interested to see how many ‘local’ players we had when we were first promoted to the SPL. There is certainly not as many Scottish players in the squad now but the amount of ‘local’ players isn’t too dissimilar. I have classed Aberdeen and North as local 1. Bayne, Graham NOT LOCAL OR NORTH OF SCOTLAND 2. Black, Ian NOT LOCAL OR NORTH OF SCOTLAND 3. Brewster, Craig NOT LOCAL OR NORTH OF SCOTLAND 4. Brown, Mark NOT LOCAL OR NORTH OF SCOTLAND 5. Carricondo, Juanjo NOT LOCAL OR NORTH OF SCOTLAND 6. Dods, Darren NOT LOCAL OR NORTH OF SCOTLAND 7. Duncan, Russell LOCAL 8. Fetai, Bajram NOT LOCAL OR NORTH OF SCOTLAND 9. Fox, Liam NOT LOCAL OR NORTH OF SCOTLAND 10. Fraser, Michael LOCAL 11. Golabek, Stuart LOCAL 12. Hart, Richie LOCAL 13. Hastings, Richard LOCAL 14. Hislop, Steven NOT LOCAL OR NORTH OF SCOTLAND 15. Keogh, Liam NOT LOCAL OR NORTH OF SCOTLAND 16. McAllister, Rory LOCAL 17. McBain, Roy LOCAL 18. McCaffrey, Stuart NOT LOCAL OR NORTH OF SCOTLAND 19. Munro, Grant LOCAL 20. Proctor, David NOT LOCAL OR NORTH OF SCOTLAND 21. Prunty, Bryan NOT LOCAL OR NORTH OF SCOTLAND 22. Smith, Jonathon UNKNOWN 23. Thomson, Darran NOT LOCAL OR NORTH OF SCOTLAND 24. Tokely, Ross LOCAL 25. Wilson, Barry NOT LOCAL CURRENT LOCAL PLAYERS: RYAN ESSON, GRAEME SHINNIE, ANDREW SHINNIE, SHANE SUTHERLAND, MARTIN LAING, NICK ROSS SCOTT MATHIESON (U19 KEEPER, IIRC HE IS LOCAL) So between the team we were first promoted to the SPL with compared to our current (incomplete) squad there is a 9 v 7. I think the issue here is players are no longer committing to clubs for more than a couple of years hence we dont grow attached to them and feel like they are local. The likes of Barry Wilson, players from Aberdeenshire way like Duncan, McBain, Tokely etc all felt like local players because they were with the club for so long. This is just a result of the fact that money is so much of a pull factor. Gone are the days where football was about football or loyalty. Its all about the £ these days

  14. why dont we rename this thread, messi, ronaldo, and xavi. because it seems to me no one will be happy until we sign players of their calibre. can we all just get a grip. get used to the fact that we will be signing players from lower english leagues, it doesnt matter what theyve done in the past its what they do in an ict shirt that counts. some posters on here arnt happy when we sign players on loan from the premiership because they dont give their all for the shirt and arnt here for the long term and they arnt happy when we sign a player from a lower league who is more likely to stay because they dont possess enough quality. it seems to me that no matter what steps the club take no one is ever happy. well youre all going to lead sad lifes in that case. the club try their best to bring in the best players possible and if you cant accept that they arnt all going to be the shizzle then i suggest you go support barcelona, real madrid, chelsea, man city, manchester united, or bayern munich. if you want other suggestions for clubs i think you should support pm me.

  15. Realism albeit bordering on the pessimistic is probably highly representative of many fans and only happy clappers with extreme rose tinted spectacles could respond as you have.

  19. SNP choose to announce an existing scheme (in fact dates back to the days of labour) which was once in the programme to start this year? How to try and move the goalposts to make it seem like they are speeding things up. It is also a 2+1 and not dual carriageway Think you have that wrong, the plan is to upgrade the Kincraig overtaking lane to Dual Carriageway. Labour/Liberal's had 8 years in power and did nothing! Then in the SNP's first term all other parties outvoted the SNP on their plans and WASTED all the money on the Edinburgh Trams! At least there is a plan in place now although it will take many years to complete, during that time we will have to be patient and drive with care.
