Remind me of your whereabouts pre-merger? Remind me when you started taking an interest in Inverness football? Remind me of your birthplace? Another ICT incomer lays down the law. Why am I not surprised? Dougal How can I remind you when I haven't told you before? But for your information the answer to your questions are: Remind me of your whereabouts pre-merger? Inverness Remind me when you started taking an interest in Inverness football? 1975 Remind me of your birthplace? England I know I've only been in Inverness for 37 years so I would be really grateful if you would advise me how much longer I need to be resident here to be able to have a valid opinion on the subject?4 points

Fair enough Doofersdad I can only apologise for singling you out without knowing your background I'll be first to admit if the answers you gave are correct then you are probably more qualified than myself to voice your opinion considering I wasn't in Inverness during the murder( sorry merger) although I was born in Raigmore and lived in the Sneck before and after/now Anyway I think it's time I took a break from CTO as it's not doing my high blood pressure any good especially when there's threads like this one on the go Sorry again Dougal3 points

This thread has moved on a bit since my last post. The reason I haven't posted on this thread for a couple of days is that I've been in Yorkshire. I was phoned by a brassy Barnsley divorcée who was looking for a new "companion" . She said that if I took up her offer I would get double portions of roast potatoes with my roast beef. Despite being a happily married man I must admit that it sounded like an attractive proposition. In any case, I felt it would be rude not to at least listen to what she had to say. So I flew down South and spent a couple of days in "discussions" during which she made very clear exactly what she had to offer. Wow! You should have seen the size of her Yorkshire puddings! I have to say I was really tempted. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. But at the end of the day I decided that there's a lot of good things happening up here and in truth I'm happy enough with my wife's Scotch Pancakes (even if I only ever get "Flora Light" on them). So I thanked my brassy Barnsley belle and came home. And what a welcome I got! Unbelievable! Everyone was saying what a wonderful chap I was. What a gentleman I had been in having the courtesy to go and listen to what the nice lady had to say about her kind offer, and what a wonderful loyal man I was in turning down the offer and staying in the bosom of my loving wife and family. Mind you, there was some odd quine from up the road who gave me dog's abuse and questioned my integrity - but there's always one, isn't there? As for my wife, she said very little. When I first told her I had received the offer she shrugged and said that if I thought I could do better elsewhere she wouldn't stand in my way. She didn't say much when I came back either. Whilst everyone else was slapping me on the back and saying what a great guy I was, she simply issued a statement which said she was glad I was back and that I had intimated I would be honouring our marriage contract (don't know where she got that from!). Some have interpreted that statement as a "hands off" warning to other admiring ladies - but I know better. It's a "stay boy" warning! Naturally after this episode I've been careful to say all the right things. I've been talking to everyone who will listen about how wonderful my wife is and how many things we want to do and achieve together and .... Sorry to cut this short but I'm going to have to dash. Another plane down to Yorkshire, would you believe! I've just had a phone call from a dusky Doncaster doll who was whispering something about toad in the hole in the most sultry of tones! Of course, I'm really happy here, but I guess I'd better go and check out how the Doncaster gravy compares with that in Barnsley - after all, it's the honourable thing to do.2 points

First off I apologise if this has been discussed previously. http://m.stv.tv/sport/football/clubs/celtic/289210-explained-how-safe-standing-would-work-in-scotland/ Is this something which the club could take the lead on and set an example to the rest of the SPL? The lack of atmosphere at home games is well renowned and in my opinion the prawn sandwich brigade's almost constant negativity effects our home performances, could this be a possible solution? I for one fully support the safe standing campaign.1 point

At roughly £120 each (fitted) they'd be mugs to spend money installing them....what clubs need to do (since ultimately it's clubs who make decisions on SPL policy) is stop paying lip service to this nonsense and just let people stand....it really is that easy!!!1 point

You know you're ICT when the phrase "we're top of the league and you're no" still makes you smile.1 point

Dougal, hats off to you for apologising. Much appreciated. But don't take a rest from CTO. I for one welcome your posts provided you keep off off the subject of the merger. I don't always agree with your posts - in fact, I hardly ever agree with your posts - but you often express a valid alternative point of view and say things other folk aren't prepared to. A lot of folk make derogative comments about you but that is not done in a nasty way, they actually enjoy your "alternative" posts and the opportunity it provides them (me included!) to give a smart *rse response. We love you really! Keep the posts coming but, as Basil Fawlty would say "Don't mention the merger!"1 point

I picture Dougal as like Ted from Airplane, people probably start topping themselves as soon as he starts up on his merger chat. I know I consider it when reading his posts.1 point

Jesus Christ did someone get a wee bit impatient that nobody gave them any attention after their 1st outburst. Read whats goin on all around you 95% of posters are absolute delighted that our man tb rejected the offer of a move down sarf which not many would have. From here on in we should forget any petty gripes and get ready for the end of potentially the best season ever..........togetherness1 point

But, way I see it is the reasons he gave for staying are exactly the same reasons he COULD have used for turning them down flat and not entertaining them in the first place. Sure, he was entitled to listen to what they had to say...but why do that if he WOULDN'T have gone if the set-up at Barnsley was one he could work within? See, that's what I can't quite understand....the fact that he pondered and came up with the same reason for his decision to stay as he could so easily have done if he decided to refuse to talk at all...and everybody is so chuffed...although, in the end, his decision was not based on what he said in the Club hand-out....because he KNEW that was the situation with ICT BEFORE the talks...so what he said in the Club news thingie wasn't the reason he didn't go, just something produced to appease the fans, imo. And it appears to have worked spectacularly! Loyalty is not staying where you are because all the elements in another offer didn't work for you..loyalty is not applying for/considering seriously/ talking terms other jobs in the first place.1 point

It is easily Saturday's for me. Nothing else has come even close. Infact I'm pretty sure that it's my favorite single goal since Paul Ritchie scored the 3rd vs St Johnstone. It's our first ever Scottish Cup game against our biggest rivals, in Dingwall. Our fans had been singing all day and the atmosphere in our end was incredible. In contrast there was hardly a sound coming from the collection of traveling folk and farmers supposedly supporting the Highland's second team and we looked by far the better team. With 5 mins to go we are leading 2-1 and looking comfortable, job done, but then disaster strikes: Vigurs off all people scores with a huge deflection and in the third minute of injury time they get a dodgy free kick out wide which somehow we don't defend and they have put us out. The shadows are delirious. Vigurs is the happiest man in Scotland (he has his revenge and he gleefully gestures to us all to show it). Adams is hugging everyone in in sight and jumping for joy (he's as happy as himself in his barn). And fecking Tokely, Ross Tokely 'club legend', a man upset at a wee bit off booing last month, is running around like he has won the Champions League, his joy at ICT's exit from the cup at the hands of county evident in his moronic grinning face. Everyone is gutted, the look of delight on the gudgies faces is truly awful and the thought off heading back to the mallard for 2 hours until the next train is horrific. But then out of nowhere we have kicked off and OTJ has unleashed a strike from what seems like 40 yards out and we have a corner. 95 mins gone though so no chance surely? Yes chance. Corner comes in, someone heads it, Tokley has lost Foran, I can't see what the hell is is happening but the players are peeling away and the tinks are silent, OH MY GOD GOAL!!!!! Bedlam in our stand, tears in the others. Tokely is truly devastated, Adams' daft wee baby face is contorted in pain and we are still in the cup. THE HIGHLANDS ARE OURS!1 point
