  1. We are ICT and I see a whole army of my fellow fans before me, still in 3rd place, in defiance of the SPL. You have come as proud fans, and proud fans you are but do you have enough fight for 2 last battles, You may lie in your beds many years from now wishing you had done more to help our team into Europe, would you be willing to trade all those days from that day till now for the chance, the chance to say you did all that you could to support the team to the best of your ability for 2 final games, tell our rivals they may mock our club but they will never take our belief !

  2. Why on earth would the club spend money it doesn't have on a stand that we don't need just to make the stadium look vaguely aesthetically a little more pleasing on the eye. Get a sense of perspective Dougal. The least of Scottish football's problems is grounds lacking in symmestry.

  3. The ball was not fully under control - it was bobbling along on a sh*te pitch. He was running diagonally across goal whereas Meekings (I think) was running directly towards goal and would have cut him off or at the very least put strong pressure on him. To top it off, he was fecking 35-40 yards from goal! As someone else mentioned, can people please get it into their head that there is no such rule as last man - completely irrelevant. Clear goalscoring opportunity means exactly that, a CLEAR opportunity to score. It is meant to be for situations where you would expect the player to score not for situations where you have to speculate on what would happen. It was never a clear goal scoring opportunity and 9 times out of 10 would have been a yellow card and we, and the St Johnstone fans, would not even be discussing the incident. Vine did the instant strong appeal in the ref's face which I think swayed him but you could see from Vine's expression afterwards that he didn't really expect a red. Ref's are meant to be 100% sure with a red card. Twenty seconds of discussion with the linesman/4th official and I'm sure they could have come to the general consensus that the chance of scoring from that position was very low.

  4. Only Dougal could turn the prospect of European into something negative. Even if we got hammered both home and away it would still be a wonderful adventure for a town which less than two decades ago couldn't even aspire to the lowest reaches of the SFL..

  6. How many times does it need to be repeated - whether Raven was the "last man" or not is completely irrelevant. There is nothing in the laws of the game that say a player should be sent off because he is the last man.

  8. I'm not sure how you can say that Kingsmills. He didn't have control of the ball, it was drifting wide, Meekings was well up with play and could have closed him down. Now he MAY have taken the ball under control, he MAY have had enough pace and skill for Meekings to have not reached him, and he MAY have got a shot away - but that certainly doesn't make it a CLEAR goal scoring opportunity in my view. It was an extremely important decision in a crucial game, but I think I would feel just as disgruntled had this been our first game of the season.

  9. It seems that the SPL clubs are due to meet again to discuss whether any consensus can be reached on any of the individual elements of the proposals recently rejected as a 'take it or leave it' package. Most prominently, they are to discuss and possibly vote on the introduction of play offs between the SPL and First Division. While clearly not the whole answer, it must be a step in the right direction. Personally, I have not spoken to a single fan who doesn't think that play offs are a good idea. They will, on their own, increase excitement and interest both at the foot of the SPL and the top of the First Division thus increasing the interest of fans and income of clubs towards the end of the season when often there is very little to play for. For those clubs who are involved there will be meaningful games with large crowds after the end of the regular season and it is bound to be of appeal to the broadcasters with any additional income spread among all clubs not just those directly involved in the play offs. I realise that out of self interest some clubs are not enthusiasts as it will increase the chances of demotion but surely that will be balanced by the fact that, if relegated, they also stand a better chance of going back up the following season. Not the whole answer by any means but please please let us take what can only be a sensible step in the right direction.

  10. Mmmm, so we should spend money that we don't have to build a stand that we don't need as some kind of vanity project? Why not just go the whole hog and get a retractable roof built too, if you can find the funds we could call it the 'Dougal Dome'.

  11. Have everything exactly as it is, except for a more equitable distribution of money to encourage challenge at the top and play offs to reward ambition in the SFL1. Such a simple change makes everything vastly better, without the ridiculous splitting of the middle 8.

  12. Look at the table just after we had beaten Aberdeen 3-0 with one of our best attacking displays of the season in a rousing second half. Time stamp 19th January 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20996641 We are in second place, 2 ahead of Motherwell 7 points ahead of St Johnstone and 13 ahead of County, our goal difference is vastly superior at this point of the season. Only 2 wins in thirteen SPL games since then is not good reading, 5 defeats and 6 draws where we should have been more aggressive but chose the passive route. Have we bottled it big time or are we happy to have made the top-six, a top-six without one of the two major forces in Scotland, the truth is seen through your own eyes. I'm also sick and tired of people worrying that County made it into the top-six at the first time of asking. That is bullshit as they have been a senior league side for as long as us and it's their problem they took until this season to get into the SPL.

  13. Apart from the red card, another sad sight on Saturday was the size of the crowd, 2300 was it they announced? Makes you wonder about all the talk of new structures and play offs bringing back crowds. Not if those games are at 1200 and on TV. We had a great spell of form in the run up to the year end when we climbed the league with attacking play, solid defence - no injuries and other results going our way helped. Unbeaten so far against RC has been great too but it would still feel like a downer to miss out on a Europe place after it became very possible. What Celtic or other teams now do is out of our hands. It's gonna be tough to get any kind of attacking form back this late but we are still a point ahead and with hard graft and some luck coming our way we can still do it.

  14. Reguero Draper Devine Meekings G.Shinnie Jones Doran-----------------------Taylor Ross McKay Foran Subs - Mathieson, Hogg, Pepper, A.Shinnie, Sutherland, Polworth, Cooper I don't fancy Draper on the wing like Butcher does, but I wouldn't mind seeing him tried out at full-back replacing Raven, he's certainly big, strong and fairly mobile. I also think that Doran is a far better player on the right hand side, as well as going with a slightly different formational set-up, as the 4-2-3-1 has become stale and predictable, often leaving McKay with little to no help. Devine and Meekings as they are to combat Higdon, with Jones sat in front to help out and Taylor just ahead of Shinnie on the left to deal with Humphrey.

  16. Wonder why though? they gell well bloody paid - over £3k plus expenses a month just for 4 games!! its the complete lack of communication that irritates me, they demand respect yet cant even apologise or explain decisions that are so wrong. Also to see the standard of the couple of games that the Luxembourg ref's officiated a couple of seasons ago showed how poor our ref's were. The referee's here should stop and think for a few seconds and consult linesmen (heaven help us) instead of running in brandishing cards in a huge ego trip.

  17. They should ban games between us and them. They're always snorefests, and completely devoid of any excitement. Rubbish game, rubbish result, and it looks like we're doing our best to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the final run in.

  21. There are times in a season when it appears that everythings against you and today seemed to be one of them. This looked to to be a classic caley jags away backs against the wall day until Raven was sent off, and the outcome hinged on that. After it, we were always going to have to defend desperately and we did that immensely well until 77 minutes when the erxtra man finally told. Meekings may think he should have done better, but it was a tired tackle on hasslebaink that allowed him to cross for the goal. Unsurprising when you look at the amount of runs forward he had to do to support a midfield that was fighting like hell. Tony Reguero kept us in it, just as Allan Mannus did in the last game for the Saints. No doubt people have now had a chance to look at raven's red card. It was not a last man challenge (Meekings and Taylor were coming round). It didn't deny a goalscoring opportunity (it was a diagonal ball going wide) and there was little or no contact and what contact there was with Raven's arm coming across - unintentional. I've seen the footage god knows how many times, and Dave confirmed it. The game was decided on that, and with 11 men we might very well have held out. Don't forget that St johnstone were in europe last year and are fourth on merit and to say that they are rubbish is, frankly, rubbish. We have matched them every game this season when we have been 11 on 11, so the result could be said to be par for the course. Pathetic? No, and it does both sides an injustice to infer that. Just a sore one, and one that makes the next two home games crucial. I'm with Johndo here, the passports out.

  22. A poor decision from a poor referee. Was Dave the Rave sent off for denying a goal scoring opportunity or violent conduct? Vine was never getting the ball, so quite how it could be classed as a goal scoring opportunity, I will never know. And as for violent conduct, more unlikely than first reason. Thomson was playing to the watching cameras(as usual) and he thinks we pay our money to watch him. He blew it in Europe at Dortmund v Malaga, and dealt our European hopes a blow today. Cue numerous expletives!!!!

  23. The referee's have been shocking for all teams all season mate, the standard has been so poor yet we get nothing but silence from the governing body, feckin sad.

  24. Lets face it, we will get feck all from the visit of Mothersmell - nothing! especially as they now have local hero back playing, so it looks like the Arabs game will be really crucial, we have to hope 'he scores when wants' decides to turn up next saturday and the following week too. Feckin ref's, dont ya hate them at times.

  25. i think it was a great rear guard effort and if anything we could and maybe should have nicked something. Saints just started lobbing it forward and if we showed a bit more composure with our passing and not tried to rush it we may have created a few more chances. We still have the advantage and the other have tricky matches still to play as we do and i know i would rather be chased than having to do the chase

  26. After the red card it was a case of slow the game down and defend like buggery. W were one lapse away from claiming what would have been an immense point considering we were a man down for 88 minutes. It was a huge effort regardless, and I'm surprised people are being critical of the team.
