  1. "Scotty, I wasn't slagging off the forum I was having a go at the folk on here who freak out whenever anything is posted which could in any way construed as critical of the club - they immediately close ranks and start greeting about it. I'm not having a go at the pro-yogi camp's right to voice their approval but they should dry their eyes when others voice their views which are every bit as valid as their's. I've made my position on this appointment abundantly clear and will leave it at that." It seems to me that posters fall broadly into three catagories; Firstly; Those who wanted John Hughes the as the new manager and are pleased with the appointment. I get the impression that these posters are in the minority. Secondly; those who emphatically don't want JH as the new manager and continue to express their disappointment. They too seem to be in a minority. Thirdly; those who were disappointed in the appointment and would have preferred another appointee but are now prepared to put their personal doubts and reservations aside now that the new man in place and give him their backing. It seems to me that this third group considerably outnumbers the other two. Nevertheless, all three standpoints are perfectly valid and make for the sort of healthy debate that is the very essence of a football fans website where, the odd troll apart, we all want the same ends but have different views on how to get there.

We are the team that you all know, Caley, Thistle We are the team that you all know, Yogi's ICT Yogi's ICT, Yogi's ICT We are the team that you all know, Yogi's ICT. To this tune. I won't be giving up the day job!!
  3. I don't believe for one minute, that Hughes was the real first choice for board. I mean, taking almost four weeks to employ an unemployed manager is the giveaway and Hughes was no way the man they really had their heart set on from the off. I know the board "voted unanimously" for Hughes, but that's not really that difficult when you consider that the other choice was Sutton United coach Paul Telfer (what...I am what?!). It's all done now though. It's quite interesting actually. A lot of prominent players at ICT right now, were by no means the club's first choices. Billy Mckay was only signed after Terry Gornell turned us down. Some argue that Mckay is worth £1,000,000 - Gornell has since left Shrewsbury (who he turned us down for), before being released by Rochdale and is now at Cheltenham. Ross Draper only came in after Lee Beevers pulled out at the eleventh hour, and Dean Brill (I'm led to believe) was only signed after a loan move from an Arsenal keeper in the summer fell through. And this mob will be by no means the only ones. Have we landed on our feet again? Hughes, despite needing subtitles, certainly seems enthusiastic. That can only be a good thing, and his statements that very little needs to be changed, has certainly put me at ease for the time being. It'll interesting to see though, what (probably minor) changes he will make. Will we finally see Curtis Allen is the squad? What'll he do with Doran and Watkins? Will he change the formation somewhat? I for one, am looking forward to finding out.
  4. IHE is perfectly right in what he says you judge the man on performance not appointment.....that isn't happy clapping just fairness and that is what the disgruntled brigade or lynch mob whatever they want to be called don't seem to understand. Lets get back to TogetherNess and spur the team on to victory........
  5. Can we not summarise this endless thread as follows: Many were underwhelmed with the CV Many were impressed with the interviews of Yogi, Kenny C and Richie Most want to give him a chance and reserve judgement. There's a game tomorrow !!!
  6. Is that what we were demanding from Butcher, 2nd place & a cup final ! I must have missed that one. I think success for Yogi will be to do as good as last season, maybe better.
  7. He is liaising with IHE with a view to organising a 150 mile conga line stretching from Inverness to Leith.
  8. "Offensive coach"!!! You've got to stop watching so much American Football, caleyboy!
  9. I disagree. I think the largest majority of people didn't really have any strong feelings one way or the other in regards to John Hughes (or any other manager) and were happy enough to place faith that Kenny Cameron and the board are the ones best placed to know who would be the best appointment. This forum has over 2600 active members and you can pretty much count on the fingers of both hands the number who were/are vehemently against the appointment. They are as entitled to their thoughts and opinions as everyone else...but just because they choose to post the same thing over and over does not (should not) mean they are any more significant than the thoughts and opinions of everyone else, even those who have chosen not to post on the subject. Two things of note.... 1. Many of the dissenters have only really become active posters again in the last few weeks. 2. The number of dissenters is not only a minority, it is largely insignificant.
  10. I'm also off to find a dark room - need a lie down and some self analysis as I find myself agreeing with and understanding IHE!!!
  11. I haven't sensed any disillusion or breakdowns on here over the past couple of managerless weeks, the majority seemed to be of the opinion that as things stood, we wouldnt miss TB, especially after Foran signed on again. People were entirely optimistic about who we could bring in next and what direction we would take, nobody was feeling abandoned by Butcher. You've got this little analysis wrong about people being likely to reject any and all new leaders, no doubt you'll argue the toss on that. I was critical of Butcher for the same maniacal reasons you were but was happy to have him as the figurehead/spokesperson for the club knowing most of the work was being done by others, I was one of the few people on here who wanted him to bugger off to Barnsley last January. I certainly won't miss him and the response from the players and everyone within the club was telling of how missed he will really be.
  12. You've got it. Hughes played for Alloa and Berwick early in his career, whilst for some reason Butcher turned out 3 times for Clydebank right at the end of his.
  13. Clubs that the current and former ICT managers have played for in Scotland? Wasn't sure about Alloa, Berwick and Clydebank however so I think this might be wrong!
  14. I agree completely, I can't honestly believe he was the best we could of found, I would of taken Hartley, Shiels maybe Levein, Laszlo or anyone as bad ahead of Hughes, don't want to believe he is our manager so I'm off to a dark room, in a dark house and I won't be on here for a while :? Do you not think he deserves a chance?? He can't read that - he's in a dark room.
  15. At the end of the day whether we were positive/negative or undecided on the Hughes appointment I believe that through the years the board have got the managerial appointments right the vast majority of the time. For that reason alone they have my support on Hughes appointment and like any manager that comes into ICT Hughes will have my full support from day one.
  16. Do you really mean that !!
  17. Just a pity a lot of fans are setting the bar so high for Yogi. Im not aware of being guaranteed anything under Buthcher etc. We had a great start to the season hence the reason we are where we are but we have also had a few nightmare results and who was to blame for them. I hope our game is on tomorrow so we can get back to business as usual under Yogi !!
  18. So, by your logic, the people in the middle weren't really in the middle...they were mostly people leaning towards the negative but have now come to terms with the Hughes appointment? You do realise how ridiculous that sounds, right! I was at neither extreme prior to the appointment and would have been happy with quite a few of those who were suggested to have been in the running. Did we get the best available? On the basis that we only offered the job to one person and they accepted, then yeah, I trust that Kenny Cameron and the board appointed the best person available....and that makes me very happy.
  19. I think that the bottom line is that Yogi should not be judged on his appointment but on his performance thereafter. If we go on the appointment I would have chosen Hughes well in front of Levein and Shiels and would have been very surprised if we had gone back in time with Pele, Shearer, Robbo or Brewster. Hartley would have been a good choice but we would have had to pay compensation and Hartley is completely new to the managerial game and would have been a real risk. I suppose that at the present time I am a "happy clapper" - cos I am glad that we moved quickly to erase some of the memories of Butcher - but if Hughes starts making tactical boo-boos or makes a faux-pas then there will be nowhere in Jellystone Park that he will be able to hide from my criticism - but all done in the best possible taste of course !!

How about a real BIG " There's Only One Yogi Hughes" from the Main and North Stand at the next home game. Let's make the man feel wanted and show him real Highland hospitality!

My worry is it'll be the players doing whatever they can to get away from him, not him wanting to dismantle the squad. Where on earth do you get that from. Pretty much every club he's been at the players love working with him. Had he been at Hartepool from the start of the season and based on his teams form from November he'd have kept them up. He wasn't supported by the board at all there. But the players supposedly according to a player who was released along with him said they were all sad to see him go, So of all the things we need to worry about, players not taking to him is probably bottom of the list. And Richie seems pretty impressed, so I'll go with him. He is our captain after all.

Yogi's the next Doctor Who! Everybody expected and wanted Peter Capaldi but they decided Yogi was a better choice.
  27. who would be a referee when players can now assault them and pretty much get off with it? i wonder how it would have panned out if the assistant smacked ciftci in the gob.
  28. There is a narcissistic "feel" - as is the case with most managers - but Yogi has a history of assuming the blame, apologising and shielding his players. That sets him apart from Butcher and he will not leave in similar circumstances. The Board actually appear to have done their homework this time and have opted for a manager who has played at a higher level and will earn respect from the present playing squad. He also has managerial experience and a degree of success which Butcher did not have. He is more brash and straight talking, lacks in the charisma and style stakes, but is a 110 per center. His flaws are that he appears to have experienced difficulty when taking over at clubs who are floundering but that evidently does not apply to us. He has more than the capability to continue to steer the ship on course. It is better to have a more experienced seefarer at the wheel. His main problem is that he is on a hiding to nothing. Keep the ship on course and many will say that the route was plotted anyway - steer off course and it will be his fault. Again that takes an individual with resolve to handle. IHE is proud to share the poop deck with Mr Hughes - and available fer a televised streak if necessitated.
  29. Let him take his time.We don't Want a Boo Boo. Sorry, but someone had to say it.
  30. What I find very interesting about the Assistant Manager appointment is the approach Yogi is taking. It could be very easy for a football manager to take one of the guys they have worked with before as an Assistant. Yogi wants to see how the players and current coaching staff operate and choose someone that will be suited well to not only being his Assistant but suited to the club as well. That shows so much respect for the club and the players. This makes me trust in him that he really is the right fit for the club.
  31. I live and work in Aberdeenshire and have, as expected, had a steady stream of Aberdeen fans in and out of my office all days in a state of bewilderment at this appointment. Despite the usual wind ups a lot of Dandies I know have a bit of a soft spot for us and the universal view is that this is a regressive step for a club in our current position. I wholeheartedly agree with them for once. I sincerely apologise if my comments upset the sensibilities of the happy clappers on here but I was under the impression that this was a forum where supporters were afforded the opportunity to voice their opinions in a democratic manner. Apparently not.... A massively underwhelming appointment and anyone suggesting otherwise is kidding themselves on.
  32. I realise that people might be disappointed with the outcome, but it was probably the best that Jennifer Aitchieson and I could do. The SPFL were broadly sympathetic to our plight and certainly listened to our case. They did explain their reasons for selecting the venue ( which we were aware of anyway) and did acknowledge that the game being selected by the BBC for broadcast was the reason for the 12:15 kick off. We explained the transport difficulties that this would cause, so it then became a question of what the SPFL would do to offset this, if no movement was to be made otherwise. They gave assurances that they were going to consider what they could do around buses and trains, and would come back to us next thursday with a detailed proposal. Give them their due, the details of the conference call that will take place were with us within an hour. We will hold them to what they offer us, and we will make sure that any offer is adequate. We won't pre-empt them though. I was prepared not to like Neil Doncaster much, but he did come across as a man who was genuinely surprised by the publicity campaign that we had waged and though his organisation had better react in a reasonable manner - we were, after all, the first supporters group they have actively engaged. The support from the media has been excellent.I get the feeling that the SPFL will think twice about doing this to us again, and they know that if they do, we will be back at them.Anybody want to bet against that being the semi final of the scottish cup ? Thank you to everyone on this site who took the time to support us and sign our petition. Your voice has been heard, and we appreciate you being there. Please feedback either on here or on the CJT site, and we'll do our utmost to answer you. edited for knackered spelling
