  1. One of the most unattractive draws possible.
  2. .....and yet another away cup game for us! Still, I'm not complaining because we lost our last home cup game badly against DU! Nevertheless, not counting the "neutral" semi finals and finals, I make it 10 away ties to 3 home in both cups since 12/13 season...
  3. ...and soon will be terrific
  4. He's by no means the first striker to go through phases of form and confidence. Remember with Wyness we used to sing "he used to be sh1te but now he's alright"? Maybe for Billy it's "he used to be prolific but now he's horrific!"
  5. Strange indeed. I, along with other fans, enjoy the Development League games, and before that the under 20s, and before that the Reserve League games, on Tuesdays. To have these games in Dingwall means we will not be able to enjoy our extra fix of footie. Hope its a "one of" and the next games will be back at the Stadium.
  6. 1 point
Do you think he will be made captain for the day certainly deserves it one of our most consistent performers
  7. Wow! the odds are against the 14 most formidable forces in Scottish football (apologies for that oxymoron ) among 32 teams all being drawn together in seven ties are pretty long. It's actually 41,209 to 1! I wonder if the Cup sponsors were offering bets? It's only when you get down as far as Hibs that you get any disparity in the apparent "heavyweight" factor in their draw - so maybe this is Hibs' year! But that draw says that seven major forces - 5-7 Premiership teams or Hearts/Rangers - will go out at this early stage.
  8. All in all I think that's a great draw. It's what the cup is all about. The non-league sides have a real chance of progressing whilst the draw guarantees several lower league sides getting in the 5th round draw and enhances the chances of a smaller side going a long way into the competition. It really is quite extraordinary that of all the Premier League sides, Kilmarnock are the one who have the lowest placed opposition with their match against the Rangers. St Mirren should hold no fears for us. The fact that they are a Premiership side means there will be no question of over-confidence or fear of embarrassment which so often does for teams playing lower league opposition. We know we have to play well to beat them so as long as we just go out there and do what we are good at, we should get the result. Just have to wait until the 5th round for Brora!
  9. I understand what you're saying RiG, but it may be over-exertion on Billy's part to make sure he gets the final ball. The only person that could answer that is Billy himself. I personally think a short resting period would do him the world of good as he has been so ever present at all levels last season and this season. I don't think dropping him in the U20s is the correct thing either. Billy needs a confidence boost and I think a rest period would give him that.
  10. Remember it well, it was notable for being the only time Darran Thomson made a worthwhile contribution!
  11. Incredible how all the "big" teams are drawn against each other, as are the lower league/non-league sides. 5 all-premier ties with the other 2 Premier sides facing Rangers and Hearts, meaning 7 of the the top 14 sides in the league set up will be knocked out at the first opportunity. Increases the prospect of a relatively easy tie for the sides that get through.
  12. Was at the game and met various officials of Celtic who all said that we were the best Scottish team they have played at Celtic park this season. TBH if it wasnt for us not playing the whistle I feel sure we could have got at least a point of those lads. Hughes got his tactics spot on. Just a break in concentration lost us the game. The crowd were screaming for the full time whistle and there was an audible groan when the fourth official announced the amount of extra minutes to be played. That was a great display from our lads. In fact one of the Sunday papers that I read had their keeper as man of the match. What does that say ?
  13. Without a doubt I fully expect Billy Mckay to score but as I have said many times, he needs a short spell of sitting out of games like he was last Saturday You have to admire him, he was so ever present last season and not forgetting, while the rest of the squad were on Holiday, Billy was on International duty in South America. A lot has been expected of him. The guy looked burntout when I was at the United game a couple weeks ago and he has still been on the International scene. With a deserved rest period, we should see a resurgent Mckay of old - scoring goals!
  14. Definitely between Derek Adams and Terry Butcher. I think Adams will get it though. Butcher will get Motherwell bloody relegated! McCall next Rangers if or when McCoist leaves or gets the boot!
  15. Aye, Spartans could be a real banana skin! Smart arse. Lol
  16. Absolutely. It's one of those draws where they'll be torn between drawing a big side or alternatively a smaller team who they may fancy beating. They might end up with an unglamorous game such as away to Brechin or Stranraer - I hope they pull a plum tie though. I'd love us to draw them home or away - and I'm sure they'd be delighted with that too!
  17. I genuinely think that once he finally scores, a few others goals will follow. It's just getting that first strike to break his drought. Looking back at his record, he does tend to score in streaks although this is an unusually long time for Billy. Although he did once go for 16 ICT games without scoring in his early days at the club! (he's currently on 12)
  18. I saw the Manchester United versus Chelsea match on T V . A lot of huffing and puffing without much excitement and clever passing across the park frankly but with few goals. Passing around (including back to the goalie which I generally abhor) but no obvious passionate desire to get the ball forward as fast as possible. The games I just saw on the Scottish highlights today are much more exciting than these English games. Maybe not all of the Premier League teams perhaps but a good number. As I said earlier, more effort, loads of footie skill on display in our Premiership, great pace and fantastic goals. You've got it made chums.
  19. Aye, Spartans could be a real banana skin!
  20. What's with you and the next two matches, they won't shape our season this early on
  21. If Aberdeen beat Ross County tomorrow night then they will be on the same points tally as us also factoring that Kilmarnock and Dundee are 3 and 4 points behind us respectively. It's not ridiculous to say the next two games are must wins - they really are if we want to stake a claim in the top 3/top six Dont think so. We're on 23 and Aberdeen on 19 at the moment. Apologies, my maths skills are pish!
