  1. I foresee the glorious return of Billy Mckay, Andrew Shinnie and Lionel Djebi Zadi.
  2. Perhaps this result puts our defeat into perspective. They are not a bad side and we performed fairly well over both games.
  3. I don't think it's a swipe at the board. It's just simply a manager making a plea to the chairman/board for a helping hand given the injury dilemma we find ourselves in.
  4. The point is: if there realy is a treasure chest for a rainy day then this is the moment to open it. The unthinkable alternative would be to keep it in reserve until we're in the Championship. This isn't about smashing wage caps or investing in a massive squad, it's about patching up a really thin squad that has been ravaged by injuries. Short contracts, loan deals etc should be enough to at least give us a fighting chance of scoring a few goals.
  5. My understanding of County was that Kiss was on £8,000 p/w while on loan with County paying a percentage on it and I'm not talking about 10%, more like 70%. I heard that Songo'o was on £4,000 p/w as well.

Think a few of you need to watch this and relax. We were abysmal on Saturday and our lack of goals is concerning, but it's times like these we need to get behind the club we love and be real 'supporters'. http://youtu.be/rBLGZ0EwF1w
  7. Unfortunately for many it is anything but numerically bleeding obvious hence my post. Apols if any knickers knotted. Was just making a respectful reference to an earlier post of yours. I'm not going to get involved in this kind of debate about the numerically bleeding obvious yet again because I seem to have spent much of the last 20 years explaining that half a pint isn't going to make a lot of difference when you're filling up a petrol tank. Unfortunately for many it is anything but numerically bleeding obvious hence my post. Apols if any knickers knotted. Was just making a respectful reference to an earlier post of yours. Never great to hear a manager taking a thinly-veiled swipe at his chairman in public. Clearly there are tensions there with Hughes acknowledging the need for further additions to his football squad versus the Chairman's desire to retain a prudent tight ship. 8. Just read on Pie and Bovril there that apparently Iain Vigurs has been training with us and Yogi is waiting for the funds from Kenny Cameron. IIRC Didn't Renegade say last month that Vigurs was offered a contract?
  9. Fon Williams Raven Devine Draper Horner Wederburn Tansey Polworth Christie Williams Mutombo Sit deep, pack the box, force Saints to break us down. Would take a 0-0. Instruct Tansey, Polworth and Williams to shoot on sight. All a threat from distance. Mutombo as lone striker instructed to take men on, go for glory, show what he can do.

  11. County are well subsidised by their new sponsor
  12. Interesting tweets from Tryone Smith @‌ STV this morning. Tyrone Smith Twitter 'Inverness boss John Hughes says he thinks he needs to add 3 players to his injury hit squad' 'John Hughes "we've got the wee treasure chest we've put away for a rainy day, unfortunately the rainy day is upon us''

Gary Warren will be back in time for a cup final.
  14. This is what I heard being shouted before half time yesterday at the match from a so called ICT fan in the North Stand. This was shouted during a quiet spell when people on and off the pitch could clearly hear him. This negative rhetoric does nothing to help our teams performance but undermines morale and the confidence of the players. At the same time it gives a lift to the opposition, which is not really what you want! Yesterday's game might have been poor, however not our worst home home performance against Motherwell, I was at the match in Nov 2012 when we got thumped 5 goals to 1 by them. Gutted - you bet I was but still did not find it necessary to add to the players despondency by taunting them or booing them off the pitch which happened yesterday. Caley Thistle - simply unbelievable............ Scottish Cup winners, 3rd in the League AND European Football. This makes me proud and very happy to support my local team through the highs and lows. Remember yesterday was only 1 game in a whole season, both Mutombo and Williams having a good game, Mutombo with his pace and clever footwork and Williams for keeping us in the game. To the man who shouted the above words and others like him, maybe you should find another team to support - in fact there is a team just over the bridge which might suit you more!!! Let's get behind the lads!
  15. Such is the lot of many clubs, I fear. The psychology of football support is fascinating! I have always been of the view that, for some, attending football matches (and I use that as a deliberate alternative to "supporting" a football team) is principally a means of trying to address their own personal feelings of inadequacy. If you are in a position to make a loud and public assertion that high profile individuals or, collectively, a high profile organisation are hugely inadequate well in that case you're maybe not quite as inadequate yourself as you constantly find yourself otherwise believing. Are you????? Sometimes the actual football isn't all that an important as aspect of people's visits to games. It's perhaps the same with all those guys (and it's overwhelmingly men) who invariably know FAR better than the manager how to set out the team and what tactics to use. Isn't it a scandal that such an overwhelming source of football expertise is being wasted in the stands while clubs pay good money to employ incompetents? This is what I find the most amusing aspect of going to football - all these people who individually have more footballing nous in their little fingers than the entire management team put together. So how come managers have acquired well paid jobs while these people have to pay to get in and watch? Sometimes the delusional aspects of football fans can be absolutely hilarious. As for Caley Thistle.... well I have to say that I am getting increasingly concerned that this Old Firm expectation that the default position is victory is gaining currency alarmingly rapidly among fans.
  16. Team to face Accies: Hoban, C Brown, Howarth, J Brown, Gilchrist, MacArthur, Rennie, Blackett, MacRae, Sutherland, Wilson
  17. This is another of these occasions when it is not entirely clear whether a post from IHE should be taken at face value or whether it is the latest attempt to wind people up and create an unwanted rammy. Either way, I don't think it's particularly helpful to have the less savoury aspects of the merger continually dug up in a negative manner. In particular the persistent assertion that Inverness remains packed with refuseniks becomes especially irritating since this is simply groundless assertion which is never based on anything more than anecdotes out of the "There's guys at my work who say...." stable. Far more relevant is that, even in these under subscribed times, around five times as many people come to watch football in Inverness than you would normally get in the early 1990s when Thistle and Caledonian were, on the grander scheme of things, struggling small town teams. Part of the problem (and this is especially a "Caley" thing), is that rose coloured spectacles have been in operation for far too long and too many people actually believe that Caledonian FC really was a major player rather than a small, provincial semi professional club, too many of whose supporters had an unfortunately inflated perception of its significance - which is the wont of the big fish in a small pond. I think that this is especially the case among Howden Enders of the late 70s and 1980s who had never known anything other than that period of prominence in Highland League terms and as a result tended to display a lack of humility which, alongside a vastly inflated view of their own significance, gained the club the nickname "The Rangers Of The North". It would perhaps be a lot more constructive if some of the older fans around would take a hard look at where they really came from and just be grateful for the opportunity which football in Inverness has had to escape these decidedly modest beginnings and reach where it has in more recent years. Please note that these observations come from someone who felt equally supportive whilst standing in the Howden End or the Kingsmills shed in days gone by which he still looks on with enduring fondness.
  18. One of our young guys, Struan McArthur, spent much of last season on loan at Rothes - a tough school! - but did well, winning their Young Player of the Season award.

I'm not suggesting the concerns aren't reasonable, it's clear we need huge improvements, however I feel that it's being blown way out of proportion. Celtic would struggle with the amount of first team injuries we have! I feel last years 'history' is very relevant. All but Watkins, Ofere and Shinnie that started that game are still at the club and surely past success should teach you to have faith in our quality having seen what our players are capable of?
  20. We should consider this: The club's fan backing has not been great over the years and the revenue stream has matched it. This last year was outstanding in comparison and maybe the Board are reluctant to spend a substantial portion of the income since they feel that last year's income was rather exceptional and maybe a lot of it should remain stashed in the bank in case of the inevitable return of what they have previously had to contend with i.e break-even finances and little in the way of spare cash. To find a replacement for Billy to perform by scoring all the time is a tall order it seems so--how will spending a large sum of money on a transfer fee change thst situation if it doesn't work out? Also, Richie has not been playing and yet his salary has had to be paid.. The team has been decimated by transfers-out of several quality performers and the rhythm of the unit completely disrupted accordingly; meaning the real possibility of poorer results and, possibly, poorer crowds and lower revenue streams. With the excellent year we have just had, won't the Manager's salary have also been reviewed? The loss of Russell must mean some kind of other adjustment is being considered which, inevitably, will mean a further financial outlay or at least a review to see what can be done to replace him? If I were in management I would be reluctant to spill the beans to the public at this exact moment in time until some light was shining at the end of the tunnel, some stability was achieved and some playing personnel, such as new signings or new youngsters needing to be blooded , had proved that they are for real and have the right stuff to support the challenge of this season alone. Spending MORE big money at this juncture in the season in ways that may not actually turn out to be beneficial would not probably occur to me as being a very useful strategy. Sitting tight and reviewing things with a very critical eye on a day-to-day basis would seem more rational. And how many people might wonder ..."Well, if John the Man were to think of leaving for pastures new because for him (after last year) the time is really ripe, or receive a very good offer, what would we do if he were to suddenly leave?" If these thoughts don't turn you on then why not just ask the Board in the appropriate way to clarify your issues a bit more by using the Ask the Club Forum or thread approach? The challenge is that unless ICT were a public company owned by shareholders then management may not actually feel the need to divulge anything since plans for the full season, in view of recent developments (injuries etc.), may not have yet crystallized and are currently the subject of urgent and earnest discussion in the boardroom that still needs further sober and second thought. So, why not give the management another month to bed in the new parts and see which way the wind may be blowing. This is a difficult scenario and needs time to sort itself out doesn't it?

That, unfortunately, is history. The reality is that so far we have not invested in the squad and are one of the teams that appear to have regressed. I hope we are still active in the market, because what we have will not get us through the season without disappointment.
  22. Is there such a thing as a fibula transplant? If there is, I'm willing to be the donor.
