  1. "" thanks terry for the players that made me look like manager of the year""
  2. Miles Storey might not be too bad a signing, has plenty of games under his belt for a 21 year old and we desperately need a striker, although we’ve had all bloody summer to find someone to score goals! Not sure about this Sho-Silva guy. A 20 year old with not much experience only in till January? I would much rather Play Ferguson or Sutherland than some unknown we’ll be losing in a few months!
  3. It seems that both ourselves and Ro$$ County have swapped round in terms of our approaches to transfer dealings. Leaving aside the massive funding they get from 'Uncle Roy' *vomit* we used to mock them not too long ago with their apparent short sightedness to transfers handing out short term deals to players like the failed Dutch lads but look at how they're dealing with players and contracts these days. Now it seems the show is on the other foot and it doesn't fit well for me right now.
  4. I have kept quiet long enough, I am sick of the doom and gloom merchants telling us how clever they are by telling us our manager is not doing the right things. Next you will be saying that J H has done nothing for the club. You didn't want him in the first place and now you are ' calling ' him again. Why can't you lay off and give him another chance to prove you wrong and the same goes for our new arrivals, they haven't even unpacked their cases and you are not satisfied with them. What a welcome what a wonderful impression of our Club and supporters you are giving them.......sad sad sad! There was me hoping you might stay quiet for a little longer Seriously though, you need a little bit of perspective, there is not a single soul calling for the manager's head as might well have been the case with fans of other clubs. We all give the manager a great deal of credit for, together with Russell Latapy organising the team he inherited so well that we had unprecedented success last season. However, Russell has gone and that team has lost many of it's key figures and it's no secret that this season has not started well and that few of the new recruits have started the season setting the heather on fire. I know that expressing concern, even in a constructive way, upsets the 'happy clappers' but doing so simply reflects concern for the club we all love and support and is in no way being disloyal to the team or the manager. Those of us who voice legitimate fears and concerns will be every bit as delighted as those of you who are never critical at all if and when the team and the manager turns things around but, for now, these concerns remain and the events of the last couple of days have done little to dispel them.
  5. Firstly congratulations to Ryan on securing a four year contract playing for the team he supports at more than ten times his rumoured salary. Nobody can blame the lad for accepting that. Secondly, thanks to him for his contribution to our recent unprecedented success and his role in creating those very special Hampden memories for us all. As far as the club is concerned, £600,000 and the player back for at least half a season is probably the best that could be negotiated from the position we found ourselves in. I am assuming we have been prudent enough to negotiate additional payments based on first team appearances and a full international call up as well as at least 20% of any future transfer fee. That said, we should never have found ourselves in this position. We have lost the best player we have ever produced for well under a million pounds. It was clear two years ago that Ryan was a very special talent. Prudence and caution are, of course, desirable but it was over cautious in the extreme to offer the 17 year old Ryan only a two year contract even if it was going to cost the club an extra few hundred pounds a week. I have little doubt that we could have secured Ryan for at least another season and probably two. For an extra forty grand or so in salary we could almost certainly have banked at least another million pounds. No use crying too much over spilt milk as far as Ryan is concerned but a lesson we must learn for the future.
  6. I can't think of a more disappointing transfer window .At the beginning we lost Shiinnie and Watkins and, at the end we have parted with the best young player ever to come through our ranks and possibly the most promising young midfielder in the league without recruiting the proven goal scorer, or at least experienced striker we have been so clearly needing since January. A poor show even by our standards. Can someone please have a word in the manager's ear and tell him that, unlike experienced forwards and a reliable left back, we have plenty of attacking midfielders and our own young forwards short of first team goals and play time. Please stop wasting our limited budget by recruiting more of what we already have.
  7. Would you point me to a single post I have made suggesting that ' the animal should be put down' during Yogi's tenure ? I have only ever called for the club to part company with one manager in our whole history and that was Craig Brewster towards the end of his second spell in charge. I note that you are not a 'happy clapper' Accordingly, when you are searching for posts of me calling for the manager to be culled you might also point me to some of your own posts in any way critical of the club. One thing I do agree with you on is that we all have differing views and opinions and thank goodness for that or these fora would be very dull indeed. Incidentally, are you still of the view that we will finish ahead of Aberdeen and are likely to be the only team to come close to Celtic in the league this season ?

To be fair to the guy he hasn't signed for Celtic to stay with us any longer than he has to. He'll want to get into the Celtic first team and there's no reason why he can't.
  10. So, let me get this straight.... - Christie can be recalled in January - Miles Storey is only on loan until January (with 8 goals in his career at League 1 & 2 level) - Tobi Sho-Silva is only on loan until January (and is a midfielder with 1 career goal). What kind of strategy is this? Surely we're just kicking our problems down the road to January where they'll be an even bigger issue. It's completely crazy, there's literally no long term planning going here at all.
  11. Another midfielder?! Edit to add: I see some references elsewhere to him being a striker as well, but his career stats seem to be one goal from 20 appearances for Welling Utd. So he's one of those non-scoring forwards that we seem to be so keen on these days.

Excellent deal for Ryan. Congratulations to him - very well-deserved. Poor deal for us IMO. Too late in the window to help us out of our predicament, no loan striker and the option for Celtic to recall in January makes planning impossible for JH. I doubt Celtic would take up this option unless (a) they were ravaged by injuries or (b) Ryan was tearing up trees for us. Ironically, the better he plays, the worse it might turn out for us. Disappointing.

If the deal is £600k and 6 months loan back (and no Stokes on loan for the season), as has been reported, this is an absolutely horrendous deal for us: best player gone in 4 months and still no decent striker. I really hate the transfer windows, but the last two have been an absolute disaster for ICT.

Am I not right in saying that should he return to Celtic in January, he'd be cup tied for the Europa League? I'm a bit disappointed we've dealt with Celtic after their dreadful antics towards Meekings last season to be honest.
  15. Hopefully he is reading this and he proves us wrong but based on our previous short term loanees' performances he needs to be special to buck the trend and his track record to date doesn't fill me with hope. Seriously worried about our club's leadership decision making both on and off the field.
  16. How do you 'urgently train' ?
  17. If we have money I'd like to see us try and get El Bakhtaou (sp!) from Dunfermline. (If we don't he'll just end up at Hearts)
  18. An hour left for the board to get their fecking fingers oot... geez a fecking decent striker FFS!!
  19. He signed for Boluspor in Turkey.
  20. Kingsmills as usual I received the response from you I expected. Let me put the record straight, I, though very supportive of ICT am not a Happy Clapper as you like to infer. I* am a realist who can visualise and reason situations on and off the park. I just happen to dislike unjust attitudes portrayed by would be mid crowd managers who seem to think they are supporting the club by repeatedly coming up with negative comments. I am fully aware everyone is entitled to their own opinions and are free to post about how they feel but do you honestly believe that an animal should be put down without first having a proper examination because that is what it sounds like to me.
  21. Och, it's not the way I would have written any of this - but in a sense a lot of this is whip-lash from winning the cup. Shinnie was away before that, of course - but arguably his desire to leave on a high was the catalyst for such great performances. Marley Watkin's cup heroics played a part in him attracting a move - doing it in the big games is always going to earn you attention. I think it's understandable that there is a hangover in terms of performance and motivation after winning almost the biggest prize that the club is likely to be in the running for in the forseeable future - and just winning silverware is more than a lot of the players in that squad would have ever anticipated doing in the game. Russell Latapy might have seen it as a sign that he needed to push out and try management, and for both Nick Ross and Ryan Christie, it was a watershed moment. Hughes has undoubtably played a shorter game in terms of squad management than previously was his style at Falkirk and Hibs - and that's left us in a bit of a mess this season. Would I trade comfortable mid-table anonymity this season for the Cup? Would you?
  22. Thanks for the updates. Nice to have a spot of good news today.

The whole thing is pretty depressing after the highs of last season. Celtic have been extremely cynical in waiting until the last day of the transfer window, knowing we couldn't refuse a half-decent offer, which is all it is, especially considering the fees other young Scottish players have gone for. Totally agree that we should have played hardball, even if it meant taking a big risk. At the very least we should have insisted on the loan back to be the whole season. I also hope, but probably in vain, that we insisted on appearance bonuses to up the fee, and a big percentage of any sell-on fee (Lyon apparently got 25% of Monaco's fee from Man U, for example). On the playing side, I wonder if this will work out for Ryan. Many young promising players have disappeared at Celtic, not getting the opportunities or consistency they needed. They have a pretty bloated squad already. I think he would have been well advised to bide his time and mature his game before leaving for bigger pastures. The choice would then be greater for him in terms of options of bigger clubs. I think a team with a more progressive young manager would have suited him better, without all the baggage and delusions of Celtic. Look how rubbish they were against Malmo, for instance. And can we trust Hughes to spend any funds wisely? After the rotten transfer policy of this summer, I remain to be convinced.
  24. 2-4 into time added on. I believe Ali Sutherland scored two, and a header from Wedderburn. Vigurs scored our fourth goal. Raffa Da Vita scored both Staggies goals
  25. I know and appreciate how thorough and accurate you usually are but you seem to have slipped up this time. You appear to have omitted the experienced forward(s). Surely we can't have let yet another transfer window pass without recruiting at least one.......

Still no official word on the final fee?? Also good to read that we rejected 2 bids before accepting a final offer ... would love for the club to prove me wrong and announce our first million pound player

http://www.celticfc.net/news/8986 heres the Celtic statement they mention the recall in January is "An option which the club is likely to exercise" Will next seasons tickets be any cheaper in the championship? You would think the club would have taken a look at Dundee United to see what happens when all your good players leave you
  28. What happens when big Roy gets fed up, spending big money in Scottish football. I guess they should just enjoy it while it lasts and make the most of it, if county don't win a major cup in the next five years then it will be a complete disaster.
  29. Kevin Mchattie has been released from Hearts. Very decent young left back worth taking on considering our problems at the back.
  30. Good point well made. Glad to finally have some decent money in the bank for a player but just think we could have done better. Just hope this money is reinvested.

Easy, we assume he'll be away in January and anything else is a bonus.

Oh well at least we got £600 K for him. I'm sure we can put that to good use. What's that you say? Transfer window closes today?.....oh

Four year deal for him as well. Fair play to the lad.

Deal apparently done: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34106143 ...now for the all-important detail.....

Hawkeye is quite correct, loan players can no longer play against their 'parent' club in any competition. While looking at the rules there, I see that clubs in the same division can only have a maximum of one loan player from an individual club. Therefore, the idea that we could get Ryan back on loan plus another Celtic player (Stokes or whoever) was probably a non-starter. If I've interpreted it correctly! http://spfl.co.uk/news/article/spfl-adjust-loan-rules/ Relevant bit: It will now be permitted for an SPFL club to lend a maximum of two players to another SPFL club, so long as the receiving club plays in a different division (higher or lower division). Loans between SPFL clubs in the same division continue to be restricted to one player from any one club.
  36. Perhaps the most depressing aspect of this thread is that it was started back in January yet now, as we are on the cusp of September, the matter of a replacement striker appears no closer to being resolved.

Considering the money made from our success last seasonI JH should get at least 50% to strengthen our squad. If not, our custodians should be absolutely ashamed of themselves OMG. Another one!
  38. Quite happy to offer to drive Stevie May from Sheffield to Inverness myself.
  39. Theres a fair bit of money recieved by the club in the last 12 months with not very much it seems been re-invested in threadbare squad. Im not blamin the manager as am pretty sure he will be quietly just as unhappy as most fans are that he's not been backed by the board This is the worst squad ever now after injuries and at the moment every match day team fills me with fear Fans turning on each other ceartinly is not the way ahead when for me its Kenny Cameron and his band of merry moneymen that are the real issue, to put it bluntly wheres all the money gone mr Chairman??
