I can't believe some of the disrespect being shown to the lad by so called supporters of the club on this forum . I wish the lad all the best in what is hopefully a long and successful career .

Eh? Scottish Football Writers' Young Player of the Season 2014/15! Previous winners include: James McFadden, Steven Fletcher, James Forrest and Stuart Armstrong.....indeed, all of the Scottish winners (I think) have played regularly for Scotland. I would argue that these writers have been pretty accurate at spotting talent and Ryan Christie has talent. Anybody think we'll be stronger when he goes in January???

Do you go to games? Do you? There is a player of the year poll on this site for folk who do go to matches, so let's have a look at what they think. We have had 3 home league games this season and there have been a total of 101 votes for MOTM. Christie has received just 5 votes for MOTM and 9 votes as runner up. This compares with Williams with 39 votes for MOTM and 16 as runner up. Interestingly, one of our much maligned new signings, Mutombo, has12 votes for MOTM and 22 for runner up. I think this evidence supports that Ten4 has it just about spot on. Christie is good, but he has only just "emerged" and has only rarely had a game where he has been very good. Some of the hype about him really is very OTT.
  4. Good luck with that

Good Luck to Ryan as he moves onwards and upwards. There's a lot of BS in this thread from many posters and how anyone can do anything but wish him well is beyond me ! Like his dad before him, he has played an important part at ICT and we all knew he would move on sooner rather than later, and although many of us hoped it might be to England - where I think he will end up eventually - its not rocket science to figure Celtic might be the first stop given his dad's history and his own fondness for the club since an early age. Wearing the shirt and uttering well worn and cliched phrases about being happy to sign for a new club ... disrespectful? Get a f****** grip !!! Its part and parcel of football PR. The lad himself has not been disrespectful to ICT ... but there's a fair few candidates on here being disrespectful to him. Like Graeme Shinnie I think he will give his all until the loan spell ends and also like GS he should go with our blessing and thanks even though we dont want him to go.
  6. [sigh] if only they were available without sponsor on the front
  7. Please let it be known that I don't have an issue with anyone wanting the put money into our club, be it shirt sponsors or whatever. My issue with wearing a shirt with a company name on it that I wouldn't recommend to anyone. I've used SubWay outlets on just three occasions and they were all rubbish. [All different locations by the way] I have a 'three strikes and you're out policy'. I'd be exactly the same if it was MuckDonals too (as would 1000's of others I hope). We've had good shirt sponsors over the years including City Link, ScotRail and One Touch. I know a couple of railway enthusiasts who actually bought an ICT top just for the ScotRail logo!!! I'm not in to this game of paying to advertise rubbish to be honest.

I too like "Perfsnecktive"! But anyway, I'm just a little perplexed that his transfer has caused such a divide in opinion. If there had been no activity in this window, regarding an approach for Ryan, I doubt there would have been too many dissenting voices questioning his calibre. For me, he'll turn out to be the best player ever from the Highlands.

PerfICT, Sneckboy. You normally make such sensible posts. What's happened? It seems young Ryan's departure has you all in a tizzy Let's get a bit of "Perfsnecktive" here. Nobody is saying Ryan is not a good player and nobody is saying his departure won't make us weaker in the short term. We would only be stronger if we replaced him with a better player - which is probably unlikely. Making a comparison with Messi is even more absurd than most of the hype (although no doubt very tongue in cheek). According to the stats on the website, Ryan has scored just 9 goals during his career here. Some way short of Messi and someway short of his old man as well! He is a good player with the potential to be a very good player but the level he has reached so far is broadly in line with other decent midfield players we have had and who have moved on e.g. Cowie, Rankin, Hayes, Robson. Of course I would like him to have stayed, but we always knew he would go sooner or later. So be it. He's moving on so let's just accept it and recognise that most of the players who contributed to the club's success last year are still here (albeit on crutches). It is maybe time to give them a bit of appreciation rather than trying to hype up Christie to God like status compared to the rest of the team. Thank you, Ryan. Goodbye and good luck.

I'm looking about here, for hidden cameras.....is this a wind-up that everybody, but me, is 'in on'!? Surely, It's okay to be disappointed at losing a quality player? - but denial is a manifestation of reluctance to accept the disappointment! It's human nature - there would be Barcelona fans, if Messi were to leave, who would be trying to dampen their chagrin by claiming that, despite his astronomical scoring record, he was 'greedy' and 'took on too many players at times'!

Saw a fair bit of Collum (and Dallas) in the Juniors before they got promoted to glory. General opinion about both is that they were mince and there was both relief and amusement that they wouldn't be seen in the Juniors any more. They sure can pick 'em.

Is Ryan Christie really so good ? How many goals has he actually scored/ assisted in how many games? He also seemed very lightweight against Partick & Hamilton recently. Great left foot and loads potential.....but ?
  13. Why do we keep signing unfit players?
  14. It seems that both ourselves and Ro$$ County have swapped round in terms of our approaches to transfer dealings. Leaving aside the massive funding they get from 'Uncle Roy' *vomit* we used to mock them not too long ago with their apparent short sightedness to transfers handing out short term deals to players like the failed Dutch lads but look at how they're dealing with players and contracts these days. Now it seems the show is on the other foot and it doesn't fit well for me right now.
  15. So, let me get this straight.... - Christie can be recalled in January - Miles Storey is only on loan until January (with 8 goals in his career at League 1 & 2 level) - Tobi Sho-Silva is only on loan until January (and is a midfielder with 1 career goal). What kind of strategy is this? Surely we're just kicking our problems down the road to January where they'll be an even bigger issue. It's completely crazy, there's literally no long term planning going here at all.

I think it was just because Hughes kept talking him up after every match as the next Messi
  21. While the deal itself may have been negotiated with a owner of a few local branches, Subway is still the name of a massive corporation donning the kits. The same goes for Carbrini. Neither of these need any extra advertising from me. As I said, if it was the name of a small local independent firm or a charity or something, then that's a different matter, but it isn't. It's the club's right to choose them as sponsors and suppliers, it's their right to put their name on the kits, it's my choice not to give them any free advertising.
