  1. John Rankin?? He's 33 in June, legs have nearly gone and we have at least 3 better players in the position he plays. If we had a team of young boys then yes, his experience would be valuable. But there is a lot more areas of the team that need strengthening before we ever looked to him. Sorry John, good player for us in the past. Can't see signing him as a positive move now.
  2. Yogi has taken a lot of undue flack this season I reckon. For a start I don't think any club in the league (outwith Celtic maybe, but even they miss Van Djyk) would cope losing 3 of their key players. Even our first choice replacement for Mckay (Ofere) left. The void left by Shinnie and Watkins has been vast. Then not having the club captain, the most experienced defender and leader (Warren), needing a new goalie, as well as having near 10 players or more out for half the season. Are people mad?! Where on earth do they expect the resources to come to sort that? Even when we signed players they just got injured. Hughes has had a hand tied behind his back all season and it's to his credit we're safe and just missed top 6. We go again.
  3. Flack, I reckon.
  4. The pair in tandem would be ideal but probably beyond our resources.
  5. Not convinced Billy Mckay is the answer. I'd be more interested in signing Miles Storey on a permanent.

There will be at least 2 away fans, I know a couple who are travelling up for the game. At first I couldn't imagine why they would bother, then I remembered that the alternative for them was a Friday night in Dundee.
  7. Just posted a blog entry with a Player of the Year update. With 3 games to go any one of five different players can still be the CTO - POY for 2015/16
  8. How many times?! The Premiership is tier-one of the SPFL. Then comes the Championship, League one, League Two. All are in the SPFL. Aberdeen, Alloa, Ayr and Annan. All SPFL teams, regardless of 'division'. The SPFL is NOT the 'new' name for the old SPL. It's now called the Premiership - not the SPFL, although it is the highest level of it.
  9. So there's obviously no chance at all of ICT affording a bike each for them?

That used to be the case and the scheme served as a proving ground to encourage the clubs current approach to getting groups of kids along to games. As you can see from the 3000 figure above, it has grown quite considerably from the seeds sown by CJT.

There's an open invite to any school that wants to take kids along to a game. In fact, it's not just schools as any kids/youth groups can contact the club and request tickets. The club gave away over 3000 free tickets to such groups last season. Not sure of numbers for this season, but I'd imagine it would be in the same ballpark.
  12. Hibs may yet look for another manager as its looking highly likely they will 'Hibs' it in all competitions this year.
  13. I see DUtd have released Dow & Spittal both players who have at times displayed skill and looked like they may be prospects to come good. Personally I'd like to see us try take a chance on them and I'm sure combined the salary would be less than a player like Rankin who I don't think we need.

I think it's all relative. How much did the injuries cost the team this season? I'm just guessing and I have 0 facts to substantiate my claim, but I would say that this kind of investment would pay for itself very quickly.

Even if my dentist worked without anaesthetic, he'd still get more of my time than the daily mail.

This image clearly shows that you're wrong. Whilst they may have a 'high by our standards' budget, it's actually relatively very low, in fact one of the lowest in their league. Regardless of the amount of money in their owners bank account. this is very much a David slays Goliath fairy tale. If the mighty ICT won the spiffle on out humble budget it would be regarded as such and rightly so. Even though Wick Academy would decry our massive budget.
  17. The budget is not the same as last years, note the wording " next seasons budget will remain similar to this seasons initial outlay" The word similar can be more or less and the reference to "initial outlay" excludes the costs of the additional emergency signings made after the start of the season. So the board and JH are correct in their assertions depending upon how you interpret them.
  18. Ex-ICT OTJ at CJT?
  19. Toby Agestein on target again this evening with a goal in a 4-1, away from home, Norwegian cup win. That's six in six matches now since scoring his first just under three weeks ago.

I'm rather more with wynthank on this one. Every year since about 2000 (in some respects since 1993) I've looked around me and wondered how on earth ICT has done what it has with the resources it has had. That applies particularly to Premiership survival. I also sometimes worry about expectations which fail to be tempered by financial realism.
  21. I always liked Rankin when he was with us before who can ever forget this goal some really pi$$ed off rangers fans walked with us after the game and they couldn't believe we could beat them. Not so sure about him coming back now as we are laden with midfielders
  22. Rig is RIGHT! Right Rig? Most past Managers have stumbled badly one way or another. It's human frailty that all of us have suffered from at one time or another, I guess. Scarlet excluded of course. Why, I even see David Moyes , who stumbled after going to Manchester United , is now in the frame to take over ....wait for it.....Celtic , or some other high profile Scottish team. I read that this morning on the SPL site. Perchance is it D for David and D for Diddums. After all, there must be several teams that would love to have him in Englandterre ---at a reduced salary? J H has had rotten luck with the loss of many valuable players AND constant and debilitating injuries restricting his choice of players and the flow of, and the positioning of, the team. What a challenge he has had this season. As I opined in another thread, to consider letting him go now is both astonishing and mindless. It would worsen the final placing of the team, depress morale and create a shambolic situation with very unpredictable results. Of course, winning another Scottish Cup would immediately turn the negative critics into happy clappers who would claim that they always knew that Big John would walk out a winner, etc. and all must therefore be forgiven. I wish life was as simple as that .....eh? Cmon the Caley Thistle.
  23. My point is that I've seen fans showing interest in numerous Dundee Utd players that as stated, made up a large part of the squad that weren't good enough for the Premiership. P.s - The SPFL stands for the Scottish Professional Football League which Dundee Utd are still a part of. The Premiership is the league table that our club participates in. Hope this clears it up for you.
  24. Typical spin from the powers that be. Why not just say the budget will be considerably less than we spent this season.
  25. I see Ched Evans has become available possible good striker there
  26. I'm amazed how many people are suggesting we sign the same Dundee Utd players that weren't good enough for the Premiership this season...
  27. Players that played in a TEAM that weren't good enough for the SPFL. p.s. What's the Premiership?
