  1. I sincerely hope we are not looking at appointing Maurice Malpas as manager.. Leaving aside his rejection of the offer last time it was made whilst making very disparaging remarks about the club, his record as a manager in his own right is very poor indeed. I am sure we can do better than that. Malpas as an experienced assistant to Richie Foran might, however, prove a decent combination.
  2. That wouldn't have been to hard
  3. I do hope Devine's decision to consider other options is not driven by comments from fans on this forum. A small number of folk have been pretty harsh on him. And in defending Raven against the appalling treatment by our ex manager, many folk talked Raven up by talking Devine down. But it's not a question of Raven or Devine - we need them both. For all the difficulties we have had this season, our defensive record has been good and Devine has started more games than any other outfield player. So he really can't have done too bad, can he? Sure, he has made a mistake or two but who hasn't? Personally I would rather see Meekings in the CB role with Warren although to be honest, there's not a lot in it. But regardless of the pecking order, we need defensive cover and what with injuries and suspensions Devine would be assured of a lot of game time next season even if he wasn't the new manager's first choice. He is also a lot younger than both Raven and Warren and could easily develop into a player who would be a first choice CB for many years. I think Devine has a good career in front of him and I would love it to be with ICT.
  4. If I'm not mistaken he is wearing a poppy showing respect for the dead , but absolutely no respect for the living !!

If I won ten million on the lottery I would have paid David's wages for the remainder of his career :-) :-)
  7. Spokemore sense than Yogis last couple of interviews...future is looking good

Every manager has brought something to the table in terms of fond memories and success. Unfortunately, the one thing they all have in common (with the possible exception of Christie who stepped down and remained) is leaving the club somewhat acrimoniously in the eyes of some or all supporters. Sergei was on a hiding to nothing having come from one half of our founding clubs, and didnt really have much if any success, but he will always be our first manager, and the man who oversaw many firsts for "CT" in that inaugural season in 1994-95. Paterson obviously guided us through the leagues playing some good stuff and masterminded 'that' result in 2000. Robbo guided us to the SPL and was very vocal in getting the rules changed whilst our chairman at the time was quietly effective in doing the same thing out of the public eye. Brewster had a measure of success and got us the fittest we have ever been, Charlie did well and lest we forget, our first time of finishing "best of the rest" we played all 5 post-split games achieving victory and not conceding a goal - something that had never been done before. Lets set aside Brewster 2.0 and move quickly on ... Butcher also had a good team around him and talked a good game as well as making some good signings and moving us forward and Yogi too will go down in history as the manager to have won us the Scottish Cup and navigated our first foray into Europe. Who should succeed him? I am not sure. The same old names will get trotted out although Owen Coyle might be an interesting addition to the normal list in the merry go round although I think he is more likely to end up in England somewhere. A lot of mentions for Richie Foran in some role but lets not forget that whoever becomes manager MUST have their UEFA badges. Its a UEFA requirement for anything more than a caretaker manager job in the top division of each country. Does Richie have these? Does anyone else who might be promoted from within like Esson or Yogi's assistant whose future is still unclear have these ? I will leave the board to make the right decision. KC and the rest of the directors chose Yogi for the position when he was not everybody's first (or second or third) choice and despite initial misgivings from a sizeable chunk of our support, until recently, where rifts became apparent, it seemed to be a pretty good fit. If KC wants to think outside the box again for a new manager or head coach then I personally am going to trust him on both a personal and professional basis. I have known him for 15+ years and he is a man of integrity, and I know he has (and always has had) the best interests of ICT at his core.
  9. Oh Danny boy, the Caley fans are calling From glen to glen, and from the high Cairngorms The gaffer's gone, and all your mates are staying Tis you, tis you must sign your contract forms.
  10. What made it galling for me was the fact that Butcher sat with the Hibs directors when he was on our payroll. At least Malpas was in the dugout. Did we win 2-0 the match?
  11. I really hope it's not Malpas he was pretty disrespectful to us when he left. As kingsmills says his record without butcher is poor. We can do better!!!
  12. OMG David-, -you are awful, but I like you!
  13. I just love coming on here. It's my daily uplift and I always know that I will, more frequently than not, continue to experience the humour that some people have on this site. Sometimes I roll around in my chair when I read some of the posts as they keep me chuckling for a few minutes. ....as in the previous thread. I see we are attracting more younger posters and want to welcome you-all warmly. You can't find a better footie site anywhere so slide in with your comments and enjoy every word you read as you learn the ins and outs. Bye, and good luck to all of us for the upcoming season -- the fans, the club, the players, the staff ; AND the management who are changing as well. The statements made by KC on the main website do appear to show how much they now realise the importance of our very engaged fans and supporters to the operation and the fact that we do feel a need to support their efforts. And the fact that they are reporting to us expansively also shows a new camaraderie of spirit and the need to support every positive move the club makes. Frankly, I've got a healthy and upbeat feeling about season 2016-2017 ...how about you?

Another thing about the Chairman is that he listens to the players and values what they say. If Foran gets the job we can be pretty certain that the appointment will have the full support of the players. IMHO the "togetherness" that would bring will more than compensate for Foran's lack of managerial experience.
  15. Unlikely, the vast majority of footballers' decisions are driven by money. And anyway, I'm sure he will fully expect that Colchester also have fans forums where his mistakes will be criticised.
  16. Devine must stay !
  17. Surely should read .... Keith Jackson is to journalism what Charles Bannerman is to journalism....
  18. I hope he managed to find his missing vacuum cleaner cufflink
  19. ICT Dundee United Dunfermline Arbroath Cowdenbeath
  20. Now that the M74 is open, the M8 is better and it's still OK for a bus,3 1/2 hours, would be 4 hours and a new set of tyres via the west coast to get to the match that we haven't been drawn against what are we like.
  21. Welcome on board cableguy. So this is what young Danny has been up to. Ah well at least we may get our preferred centre back partnership back. Every cloud has a silver lining and all that....
  22. When Bucher and malpas left us the way they did for Hibs I was fuming, Butcher stating we could "make History at the club"after rejecting Barnsley's offer for manger. Then joining Hibs like months later behind Kenny Cameron's back, could not have done it in a worse way. Seeing Hibs relegated was one of the funniest moments in Scottish football in my opinion, terrys face at full time was priceless. My point is that I think Malpas was not disrespecting our club the way Butcher was, I feel he was just staying loyal to butcher. He liked it at Inverness. After them leaving Hibs I recon Malpas realised his mistake in sticking with butcher and that's why he didn't join him at Newport county. I think he should be given another chance him as assistant with Foran is either gonna fail miserably or they are going to work really well. If this does go ahead the board should get praise for trying something brave and different.
  23. I see Ryan Giggs may be looking for a role as manager. Be still my beating heart.
  24. Bear in mind the story is in the Daily Record so is unlikely to have any substance to it....The 'newspaper, that once described a certain Craig Whyte as 'a billionaire with wealth of the scale'. Keith Jackson is to journalism what Charles Bannerman is to tact and diplomacy....
  25. Now that we are not likely to be so obsessed with ball retention and trying to score the perfect goal by passing the ball into the net I am very hopeful that goals will be easier to come by next season. The players have shown what they are capable of on the all to rare occasions they have been let of the leash and if we can add an experienced forward then I'm sure goals aplenty will come.
  26. If Richie gets the job I think you can be sure that there will art least be attacking football--just the ticket to get the fans back through the turnstyles.

Definitely great news, and David's comments on the website about everyone pulling together are spot on.
  28. I would also like to see Devine, Mutombo and Roberts sign for the same reasons as DD above and glad Vigers signed today, although not the best at times he is a player you would rather have in your team than playing against you.
  29. It's good to see Vigurs signed up. 3rd highest scorer last season with 6 and some very important and composed finishes amongst those. In Vigurs, Draper, Tansey and Polworth we have some very combative mid-fielders who can all score goals. I would love to see Doran pulling defences this way and that with Tremarco and Raven rampaging down the flanks and laying balls back for our on-rushing mid-fielders. Forget Barcelona. With the players we have we should be looking to emulate West Germany and their demolition of Brazil. We do, however, need an instinctive striker up-front in the Billy Mckay mould (Billy himself would be good!). And Fisher may well prove to be a useful target man giving us lots of attacking options. I see the makings of a really exciting counter attacking side taking shape. Acknowledgement: The above analysis was suggested to me earlier today by a 7 year old boy.
  30. any hints on who they might be We all know that you know if you know what I mean
  31. We've certainly got a manager for the future. If anyone saw the news at 6. Smashing young lad good on him. If his dad's a visitor on here must be proud http://stv.tv/news/highlands-islands/1355480-boy-seven-misses-out-on-inverness-caley-thistle-top-job/ and good on Kenny Cameron for visiting him
  32. Part of the reason why I would keep him is the fact he is a wild card. He's a little unpredictable. Granted he's got a bit of a tendency for a rash challenge but I wouldn't hold it against him too much.
  33. Just a coincidence they're all signing after Yogi left...? Either way, good news!
  34. It's raining new contracts ! Iain Vigurs has signed a new two year deal. http://ictfc.com/news/team-news/1767-iain-vigurs-2-year-deal

That and the fact that if we are going to be able to afford an experienced forward, we don't have the luxury of being in a financial position to retain all three.
  36. We've always managed to find someone and I've no doubt that we will again. I'd like to keep Mutumbo in attacking mid as I think he could kick on next season.
  37. "You really are smarter than the average bear Kenny".
  38. Go on Dave throw another peanut. I can even catch them with my eyes closed.
  39. Like the missionary position or a Lorne sausage roll....
  40. And in the League Cup, we also got knocked out by the eventual winners.
  41. Team that knocked us out of the Scottish Cup did alright too!

Dean's departure takes the shine off the good news about Dave the Rave. Dean has been a loyal servant to the club and also seemed to enjoy the Highland lifestyle. Lucky will be the club you go to next Dean and I'd be delighted to see you here again in the future.
  43. Loving the interactiveness going on lately between the club and the fans. Thankyou to the board for keeping us so well informed - much appreciated.
  44. Inevitable after OFW signed his contract. Despite missing the last few weeks, he made a significant contribution to our success last season. Best wishes for a successful and injury free remainder to his career.
  45. I'm really sorry to hear that Dean has gone. He was fantastic for us, and I'm sure he would have continued to be if not for his injury. I hoped that there would have been a way to keep both keepers. Good Luck Deano and thanks for the memories.
  46. The more I think about it, that is quite a display of confidence in the ICT board that OFW has displayed. To rejoin a managerless club, at this stage of the season, leads me to think that quite an incentive must have been offered. Maybe a chunk of the Euro 2016 money will be going straight to OFW. I have no problem if that is the case, as we would not have got it anyway if he had not re-signed. As I said earlier, good man Owain. Let us hope that his example spurs on a few more to put pen to paper!

For me Yogi engineered his exit himself . He'll walk away with his reputation in tact while blaming the club for not backing him .

Having watched McCall (season Ticket at Bradford for a couple of season when he was in charge) we could probably do worse BUT i would far rather we looked further afield, fresh blood so to speak=, instead of the usual people.
