http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/Sport/Football/Carl-Tremarco-Criticism-of-Caley-Thistle-players-must-be-done-in-the-right-way-25092017.htm No doubt the manager will have a wee word with him about his comments. If he's the man I think he is, he'll say "Well said, Carl." Tremarco is quite correct in what he says about this sort of criticism being kept private but possibly not correct when he says everyone always gives 100%. I would hope that the manager can give an apology to the players but he can quite justifiably wrap it up in terms that what he said was justified, he was wrong to be so public but this was in the heat of the moment and it was his passion for the team talking. Robertson may well not have a happy dressing room, but if so, I would suggest that is more to do with the players than the manager. Some of them need to understand that they are here because no-one else would take them. They have been shown some faith by the manager and they need to repay it. Unless they knuckle down and perform better than they are then that's their career done and dusted They may not like the fact that he is angry but they need to understand that he is perfectly justified in being angry. And do they want a manager who is passionate about the club or one who is only concerned with his own career? As for Tremarco, recent comments by Robbo make him sound like teacher's pet. He will be wanting to distance himself from that image and, of course, by his own words, Tremarco should be making his criticism of the manager privately and not in public! I think his remarks sticking up for the players should be seen as a bit of team bonding on his behalf. Last season Tremarco was the stand out player for us and if he can win the trust of the newer and younger lads in the squad then some of his "never say die" spirit might rub of on them. Top marks again for Carl in my book.
  2. Aren't we supposed to be a community club? If any players for our club think they shouldn't be working out along side those folk who pay their wages then they are a little too big for their boots IMHO.

Sadly so However, the new club shop represents a step towards putting that right.
  4. Maybe I am too old fashioned , but I don't like terms like garbage or duds. The guy is a human being, I think a poor player maybe but does he deserve to be insulted ?
  5. Always wondered why the club doesn't use the home car park as a park-n-ride facility during the week? Would also have the benefit of freeing up spaces at, the often illegitimately used, Raigmore Hospital car park!

No. We have to stop this obsession with looking backwards. Butcher is in the past, as where Robbo should've stayed. We need someone new, with a new background and new ideas to create the next Caley Thistle side.
  7. Good point well made. It could also be said that if Inverness Sports Centre is good enough for people training for Commonwealth Games, World Championships etc, it's certainly good enough for guys playing second tier Scottish football. Football sometimes needs a reality check with respect to the real world of sport which it often fails to understand is out there.

County are so far ahead of us in every department .
  9. Regardless of which direction you approach from, you are virtually in the town before you turn off at the roundabout. If you were coming from over the bridge, then the return takes you back part way into town to hit the congestion in the Longman. If you come from other directions other than the Longman then getting to the Stadium means you would simply be adding to the congestion at the roundabout or you would have to go through the town to access the stadium from the harbour direction. In short; it's a nice thought but it wouldn't work. But here's another fundraising idea. Invest a little money to identify the morons who abuse the Raigmore parking. Put them in the stocks at half time and allow the public to hurl rotten tomatoes, cabbages etc at them. This would result in a massive increase in attendances - guaranteed. I guess you're going to tell me that this is also a nice idea that won't work!

The manager who did so well at Hibs and then at Newport County ?
  11. A "potential player" at ICT would actually very likely be an inferior sporting species to a lot of individuals who train for a large number of sports at Inverness Sports Centre. It is way off the mark to assume that people who get paid for their sporting efforts are in some strange respect more talented than those who do not. It's just that, anomalously, football pays people way above their market value while most other sports do not. I also think you are over estimating what a lot of leading Scottish clubs have as training facilities. Take for example Aberdeen who use an open public field beside Pittodrie which they can't always get due to school bookings etc. You also have to take into account that, apart from the Highland Institute strength and conditioning suite and a well equipped gym, compared with a private facility, Inverness Sports Centre also has more extensive pool facilities plus a running track and large areas of grass right on its doorstep. And all of that is before you consider cost. The better equipped all-purpose Sports Centre is around £15 per month per person less expensive than a private facility.
  12. According to a friend who is a doctor down here, type 2 is often referred to as 'the Celtic huddle'.
  13. Errr... there's probably a snappy one-liner for that too, but I'll refrain! (Or perhaps settle for the rather more prosaic "You were the Weakest Link.... Goodbye!")

Helps when your club is bankrolled by Uncle Roy though....

Doesn't sound good. Tremarco, when fit, is about the best player we have left (and probably should be Captain). I would have thought it would be in Robertson's interest to get players like Tremarco on his side, rather than alienating them.
  17. Intriguing choice for somebody claiming to be 'well into his thirties'
  18. Under Hughes we frequently cocked up at the back and gifted the opposition the ball to create chances / score goals even after the initial teething problems. Furthermore, under Hughes we tended to not have as many shots on goal than we did under Butcher previously instead preferring to knock the ball around the edge of the penalty area waiting for an opening which often didn't come as teams had dropped back to defend, challenging us to break them down, which we couldn't at times given our slow pedestrian style of play under Hughes. There's no doubt some of what Hughes instilled into the team was fantastic. After all he brought us success that we will unlikely ever see again albeit having been dealt a fantastic hand with the squad he inherited. However, I thought we were at our best under Hughes when he adapted his style somewhat to include some more direct play as we often saw in games against Ross County when we went for the jugular instead of knocking the ball around the defence.
  19. Correct me if I am wrong but aren't the car wash guys - along with others - responsible for some of the much needed freshening up around the stadium ..... https://www.facebook.com/ictfcproject If the club can make a little cash by renting space or getting some form of quid pro quo arrangement then surely that's a sensible arrangement. As noted the stadium is only in use for games maybe 20-25 days a year so something that generates revenue year round should be welcomed. On the club shop developments .... looks fantastic. long overdue and hopefully generates more sales.

SkyBet have Owen Coyle installed as 5/1 on favourite. Usually a as good as a done deal at those sort of odds. Coyle has a decent record. His win percentage may not be outstanding but much of his time has been spent with clubs in Lancashire for whom survival in the premiership is a major achievement. Coyle would be quite a coup for County and would signal some serious intent from the club. Hughes may have been interviewed but this was for something else. McGregor has just moved house and is looking for a gardener. The County Chairman heard that Yogi did very well on his gardening leave from us and so that is maybe where some confusion has arisen.
  21. As a former player well into my 30s I think it is a given that you have to be fit enough to be able to play for a full 90 minutes and more including being able to sprint in the last few minutes of a match. If you are blessed with fast twitch muscle it is a great advantage but that starts to go when you are in your early 30s though I know a number of former players who can still shift in their 40s. The other aspect is to react quickly to developing situations and not be lazy in that reaction as this can give you a second advantage, Dalgleish who was never quick and Durrant after his injury exemplified this ability to think more quickly than the top class players around them. I used to be a supporter of Vigurs and thought he provided much needed guile to a pedestrian team under Brewster. In those days he was a very mobile midfielder trying to impress. Today he is a luxury player who doesn't put in nearly enough work for the team and relies on his few inspirational moments to get picked, that is not what a team struggling in the championship needs, we need 11 workers including a midfield general a good winger a good finisher and a commanding centre back, think back to the Patterson years for what a decent championship team should look like.
  22. I am afraid we are probably Type 7 at the moment

In the exact same way fans of other teams were surprised when we canned Hughes but weren't aware of the other goings on at ICT the sacking of MacIntyre at RC has shown just how little attention some of the country's "top" sports reporters pay to non OF teams. This is an excellent piece on the sacking and one of the few sports writers in Scotland who have actually bothered their backsides to go and research MacIntyre and his time at County. As Renegade says they've largely been garbage for several months now despite excellent financial backing. MacIntyre has signed a phenomenal number of players but still can't find a good setup to play them and often has his team playing brutal football. http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/teams/ross-county/why-jim-mcintyre-s-sacking-from-ross-county-wasn-t-much-of-a-surprise-1-4569378

Don't bother on my account. I have little doubt that there is much truth in that statement.

Personally I think it would be more correct to say we won our first silverware despite the fact that Hughes was in charge. I'll explain that in more detail when I have more time to collate the facts which support my view.
  26. Fair enough. As long as all they are paying something to the club and have the necessary planning permissions and trading licences, then it's fair competition with other similar businesses across the city as well.

I don't think you can draw any sensible conclusions from these figures. They really need to be looked at as part of a wider data set and in terms of the way a team is set up to play. Shots on target is not a reflection of chances created. All attempts on goal is a better measure but even then there are frequent times when chances are created but a player simply fails to shoot and either passes the ball or tries to create a more clear cut chance. Some shots at goal are simply speculative and don't reflect a meaningful chance. Also, if a player usually shoots at the middle of the goal. most of his attempts will be on target but he will rarely score. If he aims for the corners he'll be off target more often than not but he will score more. I don't think anyone here would disagree with the fact that our opponents are getting more scoring chances recently. Even folk like me who were delighted to see the back of Hughes acknowledge that we were much more organised at the back under his time here. But having said that, there were times that Hughes' fixation with possession led to us losing possession in our back line and presenting a very clear cut chance for opponents. I really don't see that these stats tell us anything more than a quick look at the figures for goals scored and conceded.
