Loads of comments after the Tynie performance. I am simply putting it down to "a bad day at the office". We got our tactics wrong, we put out the wrong formation BUT we were holding our own before we were blitzed by - lets say three well fashioned and executed goals. The League has to be our focus. Some people are asking for wholesale changes BUT we don't have the squad to do that. Would like to see how the others would change it around for Falkirk. Me I would drop Rooney, replace at full back with Brad McKay and bring McCart into the middle with Donaldson. Up front I would pair White and Austin. I suspect that White would be much better with a player up beside him and Austin must surely have a point to prove. An alternative which will not happen YET is to pair up Austin and wee Danny McKay. Now midfield is the problem area. Doran has clearly got to be given time and space to be the playmaker but he has to do a lot more work as well. He looked good but was static at Tynie. It probably will not happen but I would go for Calder and Walsh wide and Doran and Polly in the middle. One sitting (probably Doran) and Polly in a roving role. That also means a high line defence. SO ?? RIDGERS McKAY McCART DONALDSON TREMARCO CALDER DORAN POLWORTH WALSH WHITE AUSTIN
  2. So why the Celtic tattoo?
  3. Well simply put, football is an entertainment business and the landscape has changed from the 'working man' heading there on a Sat and a few pints in the boozer when games were cheap and affordable and TV money didn't exist. We live in modern, dynamic times where people expect more and have more lifestyle choice for spending disposable cash - adapt and survive or compete otherwise continue with a struggle for survival among falling fan bases. And yes the onus should be on the clubs - for too long football has had it easy taking the cash with minimal effort. Club loosing games and loosing fans due to lack of money to sustain players at a higher level to compete. Lack of money due to not having a footfall to sustain it. Lack of footfall due to lack of entertainment and not being perceived as value for money experience. Start to address the reasons for low footfall and the income will increase and therefore the end product on the park.
  4. If people want to have a curry and some cheap pisswater beer then head to Auctioneers on a Saturday afternoon. If you want a bouncy castle and face painting go to a party. A lot of this stuff seems to be dancing around the issue at hand which, in the most succinct way, is simply a lot of fans have stopped enjoying going to games because the team don't win as many games.
  5. 'Balls'. Well, quite. Since 2003, Ipswich's average league attendances have dropped from 25,433 to 16,272, so they are hardly the best example to cite of a club that has sustained its supporter base by developing the 'matchday experience'. Moreover, they are in, if memory serves correctly, the fifth most lucrative football league in the world, and so have far more scope to throw money at developing the various activities and attractions listed above. It's not just unrealistic to criticise ICT for failing to invest in a similarly wide-ranging matchday experience, or for failing to match the sort of 'value for money' that a vast business like Wetherspoons can offer; it's deeply, deeply unfair. I agree that more imagination could be put into ways of attracting supporters - the idea of allowing different food outlets to compete and offer more variety seems pretty sound, and @RedCard has some excellent ideas about flexipasses, for example. But this thread is full of people trying to justify their waning interest in football in general, or in ICT in particular, by placing it largely at the feet of the club, and a lot of it seems really disingenuous.
  6. Buy a season ticket, get two kids season tickets for free and unlimited goes on the big, nonexistent bouncy castle.
  7. How do you buy something that's free?
  8. Moray jaggie get in touch.
  9. Seems a backwards step. This thread has highlighted the importance of getting 'hooked' at a young age. Once you are hooked the only important thing is watching your team not the 'matchday experience'. Sadly this could limit the chances youngsters have to attend.
  10. The only good thing about this is the benefit to 13 to 16 yr old fans. However Id have liked to have found a way for all U16s to be admitted free
  11. Well as a father with two boys last season cost me £20 to attend a match now that has risen to £32. This means I now won't be attending as many matches as this is simply not affordable when you have kids wanting a drink and something to eat at the game as well. Thought they were wanting to get back to being a community orientated club. This is just going to force more folk to stop going.
  12. The problem is, and it's not a new thing or specific to ICTFC, that the vast majority of those sitting on club boards don't have a clue what's important to fans. There's a dangerous combination of ignorance and arrogance which drives them to believe that they know, without having ever asked, what people should want...when they actually don't even know what they want themselves. I've said already that the studies I have seen and partaken in demonstrate that winning is low on the list of priorities and last nights result against Fort William proves that....is there really much (long term) enjoyment in results like that? If it was all about the winning every week we'd all be wearing green and white hoops! In regards the last paragraph, there's evidence to suggest that fans aren't as tuned in to what they want either. What we strive for is success, but as I said already, if that was the most important factor we'd all be following other teams. I'm the kid who always asks why...I was lucky to have had parents, an education and strength of character to maintain it. Others find it irritating because they were told, and learned to accept, "just because" as an answer...not me...and it's something that is most useful in situations like this. If clubs want to understand what fans want/need...and fans want to understand themselves...then the easiest way is to adopt the use of the "5 Whys Technique". Google it, then try it on yourself starting with the question "Why do I go to watch ICTFC?" And see where it takes you.
  13. Just keep supporting your big team then
  14. I really like this. Yes, once you take away the glamour and razzmatazz of Premiership football, Niculae-esque signings and Scottish Cup success, what are you left with. 1000-1500 fans. I will not write, ostrich-esque, what that level of support warrants. I will say that we are approaching a QoS and Morton model, and despite that, if Livingston can do it, then why not. The finances are worrying. Again, I'd prefer not to go there.
  15. It's got a bridge, and no bouncy castle, oh Inverness...

The trouble was that they were followed by two more without reply in the second half by which time we were feeling much less pleased with ourselves. However, that is now over and done with and we need to concentrate on getting back to winning ways on Saturday. Falkirk made an even worse start to their league campaign last season than we did so will be as keen as we are to get this season off to a better start. Three points on Saturday and the Hearts game will soon begin to fade in the memory.

A bad day at the office, but let's move on and focus on next Saturday. Hearts started quickly, but once we settled, the first 25 minutes were quite even, and it could have been different had Chalmers effort gone in. Three quick fire, well taken goals kicked the stuffing out of us, and then their 'keeper had a couple of decent saves before half time. The two Naismith goals were disappointing, and we could not take the chances we had, the best falling to Austin, but Hearts could have had more, with the woodwork saving us twice and Ridgers having some saves. It could easily have finished 9-3! I assume Tremarco had a knock when he was substituted. Looking forward, I would give McCart game time alongside Donaldson. Midfield is a worry, as we have no one doing the "dirty work" well: how we missed Vigurs today. Beith or Welsh may be the answer, but not seen either yet. Austin needs to be our first pick up front. A bad day, but I don't feel we were humiliated, just beaten by a better team who clicked on the day. Hopefully Robbo picks them up for Saturday.
  18. Lochaber No More ?. Rothes beat them 11-1 a few days ago. 16-0 is great, well done - humiliating a team on their knees who aren't, by their own admission, HL standard. We shouldn't be revelling in this. Or maybe a sign to come.
