Am I the only one that thinks that the Board and Graham Rae were on a feckin hiding to nothing from the off, took over when many thought then that administration and part time football was inevitable. The fact that they kept the club going, got to the play offs last season, have maintained stability this season on the field at least - and put a lot of personal time and effort into it. Their downfall was probably that they did not have enuff spondoolicks to bring about further change. Again I fer one do not think that they would feck aff and leave us in the lurch. Cant wait to the next meeting splodging egg on a few faces.

No cheer leading here ... just want someone willing to run our club properly and capable of doing so. Who they are is irrelevant, what they can do is what matters.
  3. I almost forgot we had a game on Saturday what with all the off-field shenanigans from both teams that's kept everyone talking. Back to the football then should we wish. I'm sticking my neck on the line and predicting that we'll keep our winning run going, certainly expect no less than a point. If I'm wrong then I'll take all the pelters I'm due come 4:45pm on Saturday. I've seen/heard nothing from Partick this season to suggest that we should be fearful of them, certainly my prediction of Gary Caldwell being the first manager to get the dunt was correct, and while I expect them to be boosted in some way by Ian McCall I doubt he's had enough time to really work with the players. While most would have expected their defeat to Celtic on Wednesday it's still a game more than we've played since last Saturday and I think that'll show, hopefully we'll be sharper and less jaded. They'll be more organised but can they produce the extra quality that's needed to improve sufficiently, not for me. Hopefully we can start the game quick and take it to them from the outset. I expect us to field the same starting 11 as last weeks defeat of Queen of the South.
  4. We need to guard against complacency against Partick. No matter how the season has gone so far, McCall will have them fired up for this. Although we should take the 3 points with something to spare we will have to be wary and bring our A game to this one.
  5. Agree with you CaleyD, talk of going into administration is way off the mark from what I've heard.
  6. Your loyalty to Mr Rae, for whatever reason, is admirable but we will have to agree to disagree on your assessment of the situation. I have had dealings in some capacity with virtually every iteration of our boardroom over the years and lets just say that some were far more organised, personable, and capable than others. I have absolutely no doubt that anyone who has 'donated' their funds (Weekend Hackers's distinction is correct IMO) had the best intentions coming in, especially those who had a plan they thought would work, but as we have seen a few times, the viability or implementation of those plans often had severe issues or were chock full of inefficiencies and wastage costing us money we didnt have. The last two years are another example of this. The best post in this thread is from A Sofa in St Tropez on the first page. Absolutely nails it as far as I am concerned.
  7. I'd love to know what source has decreed that Messrs Fyffe & Dalgarno are ready for the off - is this backed up by fact or just from the rumour mill? Anybody who puts money in to the club must know that they are not getting it out so whilst I am not saying we should graciously accept, perhaps there should be less vitriol around who we are willing to accept money from? Yes, we all have the best interests at heart and would hope that any new "donor" (not investor as that suggests a ROI at the end) has the long term future of the club as their goal but the brutal facts are we need money, we need stability and we need a board who have the cojones to make the hard decisions NOW to balance the books, re-engage with the wider community - importantly Fan AND Business - and ensure that we retain FT football and at least top 3 in the league with an occasional spell in the SPL to boost coffers from time to time? Can't be that difficult...... But please, anyone, don't come in with a blaze of glory on here with suggestions of how to shape things going forward and then disappear without a trace. We need staying power and sleeves rolled up.
  8. I have no desire to get into a long winded discussion on the situation as there's simply not enough info in the public domain....however I am willing to stick my neck out and say that I believe administration is highly unlikely.
  9. I wish there could be new money in the wings but who and where from ? Club needs a radical overall from top to bottom, starting with a serious strategy to engage fans, gates of c 2000 and 1700 are really tier 1 status and ICT deserve a hell of a lot more support given Robbo is working miracles with what he has. I honestly fear that years of neglect and mismanagement are coming to bite the club......
  10. As stated before our lack of attendance has been discussed at leanth and how to get people through the gates is the issue we can't seem to overcome I've seen some great crowd's before but we just can't seem to hold on to them for whatever reason. It's heart breaking to see the sparsely populated stands now and without a rich sugar daddy to bank roll us like other clubs have it's hardly no surprise we will probably end up announcing even more losses. I for one love this club and even if we ended up back in league 2 I'd still be making my trips over. Only wish more people could see what I see in this club. Flying out tomorrow for the QOTS game and I'm really looking forward to it as I always
  11. I don’t think the issue is how many people who play football don’t get paid, because that is common across all sports. The issue is the extremely and uniquely large number who do get paid for playing football - where it’s possible to receive a regular wage, never mind simply payment by results, at remarkably low levels of competence, fitness and commitment compared with other sports. And below the top tiers, I don’t really think popularity is an overwhelming factor because there are plenty of teams paying players to perform in front of quite small crowds in relation to their wage bills. This is something often made possible firstly by the willingness of wealthy people to subsidise these clubs with large donations, often in return for perceived prestige..... and secondly due to the clubs supporting their excessive wage bills by charging the kind of ticket prices which the Original Post was about and which fans frequently find burdensome. .

The Supporters Trust has taken this matter up with the club. CEO Scot Gardiner was very aware of and concerned about the problems with the Morton "fans" and explained the very specific circumstances of this incident. Because of the game being on TV with an early KO time as a result, and given the distance Morton fans would have to travel, Morton supporter groups told Morton that they were asking fans to adopt a 100% boycott of the game. The club gave its support to that stance and informed ICT of the situation. Opening the South stand involves significant extra expense with a separate servery, extra cleaning etc., and the decision was taken not to open the South Stand. However, recognising that despite the boycott, some people may still come to the game, the club set aside the South end of the main stand to accommodate any who turned up. In the event, more than expected turned up and unfortunately, amongst these was a group of around 20 whose behaviour was very poor. Scot recognises that the situation must not be allowed to happen again and therefore they have taken the decision that, despite the financial implications, the South Stand will be open for away fans for all future games this season. This includes the game on Saturday when it is anticipated that the crowd will be even smaller than last Friday. As Fraz rightly says above, this is the sort of issue you might expect an SLO to deal with, but the club does not currently have an SLO. Scot has agreed that it would be useful to have a separate meeting with the Trust to discuss what elements of the SLO role, as defined by the SFA and Supporters Direct Scotland, need to be carried out and to identify how that might be done within the financial constraints faced by the club. We'll update you with progress on that in due course.

Oh the joy of being in the North Stand and far far from away fans objectionable behaviour. After trying various areas, for view, for out of cold wind/rain/sun/whatever, I chose a great seat for my season ticket, so many years ago. Great craic, lots laughs every game, and I have made great friends who return to the same seats season after season. Such blessings not to be in earshot of away “fans”. I find the view from Main Stand strange (if in hospitality) and atmosphere so different. The North Stand is great for goals at “our” end and I can use my binoculars for those at the other! The North Stand is top class for umpteen reasons.

If we do go into administration I think it would be for a short period of time before new investment appears.
