  1. We were 2nd best for much of that but 4 terrific strikes was the difference. Credit to Morton though, they kept going to the end and provided a greater threat than last Friday's opponents. They had a good bit more of the possession and put us under a lot of pressure as the corner count demonstrates. Our back line played pretty well, but at times it was back to the wall stuff. A lot has been said about Allan, but tonight he looked some way short of match fit. We suddenly looked a lot more threatening when Sutherland replaced him. A win against Queen of the South at the weekend or both Arbroath and Morton losing would make us mathematically safe from the drop - not that we will be worrying about that! We are definitely the form team at the moment, so things are looking pretty bright.
  2. ..and mine. Another confident performance. Shane giving up his day job and reverting to full time football was a gamble for him and for us but one that is increasingly paying off. In his current form he is unlucky not to start but a wonderful asset to bring on from the bench. It's increasingly apparent that the fact that the start of our timely run of form coincided with bringing in Billy Dodds is no coincidence at all. Pity Dundee got all three points but, if we continue to play like this we won't have to worry about what other teams are doing.
  3. I wouldn't particularly say it flattered us. We could have scored another two or three but that's being greedy. Plenty of huff and puff by Morton but little cutting edge. The pitch was a great leveller early on. After the break Morton got their reward for hard graft but when Toddy scored his sensational goal the wheels fell off the Morton buggy. Dan was the icing on the cake, so thoroughly deserved win at an often difficult venue. Same again on Saturday on a better surface and things will be looking up. Its goals that count and we got three more than them, good enough for me.
  4. What wonderful timing for the team to be gelling. Scoring spread across the forwards with two assists from Sutherland is very healthy. Hats off to McCann and Dodds who must take some credit for this.
  5. What a turn around for Toddy. He was superb on Friday and yet another goal tonight. Really delighted for him, his attitude and commitment is great. Brilliant that he's now adding goals to his game. He's hitting from just at the right time.
  6. Big week starts tonight The race for a play-off place is entering the final laps now with just five games left for the Caley Jags to try and overhaul one of the clubs above us in the table. Off to Greenock on Tuesday night for a 7:00pm start to face Morton who beat us in Inverness last time we met. In reality, the best we can hope for is overhauling one team before the end of the season and take our chances against the rest if we make the play-offs. Whilst we were on Cup duty last weekend beating the village team from Dingwall, we were looking for Hearts to do us a turn by beating Dunfermline at Tynecastle on the Saturday. They failed to do this in a 0-0 draw and that result has knocked Inverness just out of the coveted top four slots. Fair play from the Pars I suppose who recovered well from the 5-1 hammering they took off Raith Rovers last time out and now sit one point above Inverness. Our next two games will shape our season and are crucial to our success this campaign. Away to Morton followed by a trip to face Queen of the South at Palmerston. Aye, there are no easy games left, it's then Dundee at home, Hearts away and our final game is a home tie with Ayr United. STREAMING £14 from Ton TV OFFICIAL PREVIEW We have dropped five points to Morton this season already. A draw at Cappielow against ten men for over half the game was a low point, especially as we threw away a lead. Worse followed at the Caledonian Stadium when Morton's Aidan Nesbitt scored the only goal as we struggled to make headway and Morton got their first win in ten games. However, since then we are unbeaten in six games, winning the last five including the two cup games. Mark Ridgers made his 150th appearance for the club in the Cup game at Dingwall and he is on a run of three clean Championship sheets in a row. Another one would not go amiss. However, a word of caution. It's all very well owning the bragging rights after the Highland derby, but the big prize this season is promotion, and while that's still achievable it would be criminal to undo the good work of the last few weeks and rest on our laurels, albeit it is rather satisfying. They were heading out of the cup until Sean McGinty equalised in the 91st minute before substitute Robbie Muirhead settled the tie with eight minutes of extra time left. Kevin Smith had given the Fifers the lead on the hour and made Morton work hard for their place in the fourth round draw, as they did to Inverness early in the season in a league cup encounter. The Ton were also looking for a wee favour on Saturday when Arbroath hosted Alloa Athletic but the Wasps were unable to help out and went down 2-1. Not a great result for Morton who are now level on points with Arbroath and only hold a one goal advantage over the Smokies. So, for different reasons points at Cappielow will be a prized possession for both clubs as games run out in pursuit of their goals. Our cup exploits have earned us an away tie at Paisley in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup on the weekend of 17th/18th April. That means the League game against Dundee has been re-scheduled to Tuesday 20th April @ 7:00pm. Fabulous goals from Nikolay Todorov, Daniel Mackay and Shane Sutherland were enough to see of County in the cup who opened the scoring through Billy Mckay. St Mirren will offer a much sterner test than County's defence and this will be a difficult tie with the winner heading for a tie at Kilmarnock or Montrose. Morton's extra time win over the wee Fifers earned them an away tie at Motherwell. ***Latest Team News*** Scott Allan has played around an hour and a half now over two games and we have yet to see the best of him as his match sharpness returns. Aaron Doran is reputed to be close to a return but Anthony Macdonald will do well to get any game time this season. Almost a full squad, that's as good as it get's this season.
  7. That's the way I saw it as well we are scoring good goals now how many times earlier in the season did we huff and puff and were lucky to come away with a point?
  8. Great to see so many positive comments but it's well deserved, another great team effort including the coaching staff with subs coming at the right time. Four cracking goals
  9. Great result. Get a win Saturday and hope Ayr recover enough to beat dunfermline.
  10. Superb result, puts down a real marker for the run-in - same again on Saturday please guys - well done to you all
  11. Super Dan Mackay!!!!!!!
  12. We’ve suddenly found a top marksman in Toddy. Game time has given him confidence and we are reaping the benefits. If we can see this out, Saturday’s game is vital!
  13. Jeez that indirect free kick was bizarre - no wonder Morton guys are spewing! After he heads it surely it’s not a direct pass back? However Great finished from Allardice - there’s not a lot of space there. Need a third to finish it off. These commentators are really good. I stand corrected on the pass back rule!
  14. It was great to beat our rivals in the cup on Friday but this game is far more important. Vital that we get 3 points this evening to maintain our momentum towards a promotion play off place. Much much more important than a cup run as welcome as that is. We will probably survive another season in the Championship but would almost certainly be further diminished by it. For as long as a return to the Premiership is a possibility we need to be firmly focused on it and the players need to be every bit as committed this evening as they clearly were on Friday.
  15. Toddy now joint third top scorer in the Championship.
  16. Don't mention it. Now in future, behave yourself 😉
  17. Great result. Well done to all involved. Earlier in the season we’d not have won that. Onwards and upwards I hope!
  18. What a great result! Following via various apps is hard work, especially as it seems Morton came on really strong after half time. The corner count is widely in their favour! Fortunately Toddy was on fire tonight...I'm think of adopting him! And Daniel did it again..... Hopefully Storey will be spurred on to go on a scoring run for himself. McCann and Dodds seem to have worked out the right combo's, but the bench looked a wee sparse tonight...hopefully guys like Welsh, were given the night off to be ready for Saturday, and we'll need contributions from guys like Duffy, McHattie, and Keatings for the run in and the Cup [if we were to beat St Mirren, but were still in with shout of the play-offs we might have to take a decision which is more important].... Good to see Vincent get some game time, and Allardice reminding us what a decent signing he is! Of course every game at this stage is important when in this position, Saturday is a 'mustn't lose' game if we can't secure the win...but we have some big momentum running
  19. That was fun. Amazing what a bit of confidence can do, as usual fitba is 75% between the lugs. Might have to revise my prediction of 5th.
  20. Another great win for the team and another 3 points on the board
  21. 1-4!! He’s had a quiet night but what a goal. Dan Mackay, he’s one of our own!! Another assist for Sutherland. He’s becoming an impact player for us. That said, this is not a 4-1 performance!
  22. Wow Fabulous from Sutherland and Todorov
  23. HOT TODDY!!!!!!!! What a fecking goal
  24. Great goal from Todorov
  25. Dan Mackay should have scored. Really poor
  26. I am ready to watch this one let's get the 3 points.
  27. As said above, a big night tonight. Livestream connected. All we need now is an away win! Unchanged team, which will hopefully help with momentum and confidence. Interesting that Duffy and Keatings have not made the bench? No word of injuries so others preferred?
  28. 1 point
Songs guys: 1) Lewis's dad used to start off the "Give me a C" back in the old div 3 days. 2) The doo-doo-doo song was sung for Eric Odhiambo mostly as I remember it. 3) You're now singing that back to yourself to see if it scans... 4) A personal favourite - Spirit in the Sky 😎 Another great pod guys 👏👏👏
  29. Yep. Well up for this one. Enjoyed Morton tv last time.
