One thing we do have is a proven goalscorer! What we need is tactics that enable him to be in the box and get service.8 points

Another Ferguson masterclass. Our worst ever manager without a doubt. Just f'ck off you useless pudding.7 points

Delighted to see big dunc with his usual faith in youth as always. At least with the young boys if results didn’t come there was still something to support but I suppose it’s on dunc now to get the wins this way. Thought it’s a bit harsh dropping bray as he seems one of the only ones with a bit of endeavour6 points

I promised most of here about a year ago that I would not do this but I JUST CAN'T ACCEPT where we are and there's only ONE MAN to blame so as the title says, it's time to get Duncan Ferguson to **** TONIGHT otherwise we'll be in the HIGHLAND LEAGUE before too long!! If Ketan Makwana has any sense then he'd see that us as fans are VIRTUALLY DEMANDING that this ***** is sacked otherwise they'll be the only ones at games!! It's been stay in the match day thread from today that this ***** is our WORST EVER manager and I can't disagree with that, even Richie Foran wasn't this bad! I also stated on the Facebook result post that, I believe we got rid of the wrong person because I'd have binned DF and kept Ryan Esson who I KNOW would have 100% got betting performances/results out of these youngsters! It's also imperative that Bollan is binned too because he's not the answer!4 points

Have faith Clueless Dunc will have his same excuses ready . Absolute **** manager who will just ruin those young players confidence . Do us a favour and take Gardiner off down the road with you .4 points

Thank goodness we have by far the highest paid Manager in this League. He is an inspiration.4 points

We can’t attribute this defeat to us fielding a team laden with inexperienced teenagers. It’s increasingly clear where the problem lies.4 points

Please stop with these scurrilous rumours of common sense breaking out at ICT. It's only getting my false hopes up.4 points

The only watertight contracts that the club seem to be capable of making are those that tie incompetent failures to us for years no matter how pathetic their performance is.3 points

To think, we were top of the league last Saturday too. OK. It was only for about 10 minutes but it was good at the time.3 points

No, but that's a very positive development. Perhaps the arrival of the grown ups can help the board get serious. I don't have any confidence at all that S7V are credible, but it makes sense that only a board and CEO lacking any credibility would lend credence to it, and every single media piece that comes out only reinforces that. If S7V has been a certain individual's idea from the get go, as the best (only?) bet to keep their gravy train going, then it's high time this was called out by more than just fans. Dollars to donuts a faustian bargain has been struck somewhere along the line. Hopefully this is the start of unravelling it by actual business-minded people, in place of the ambulance chasers of the football world.3 points

30 years On... Thirty years on from our entry into the Scottish League system when we were then known as Caledonian Thistle, we head to Galabank Stadium, Annan, for a League 1 game, having already lost there this season in the League Cup group stages. This will be only the fourth meeting between the two clubs having won the first two 8-1 and 4-0 many moons ago before losing 1-0 last month. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Match/Ticket/Bus Info Thirty Years Ago Today ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Not much has changed since we played Annan a month ago. Ethan Cairns is still out with a health issue. Trialist keeper still not signed up. Spoke to the 'Owner', hopeful of adding another couple of players. Wallace Duffy is also still a possibility. Annan beat Cove Rangers last week in their opening League fixture. Second half goals from Max Kilsby, Josh Todd and Malik Zaid gave Annan a 3-1 win over Cove. That win put Annan at the top of the table on goal difference. The League cup encounter was a close affair against Inverness and Tommy Goss got the winner despite a promising display from Inverness where Ferguson felt we were unfortunate not to take something from the game. Whilst Annan were beating Cove, we were drawing with Dumbarton in a game of two halfs. An opening headed goal from Danny Devine put us ahead just on the interval in a lively opening 45'. Alas we went back ito our shell after the break and the Sons capitalised on that to draw level. The Good Old Days Who remembers this one? Four days before the legend that was Alan Hercher scored that opening day League hat-trick against Arbroath at Telford Street in a 5-2 League fixture, we faced East Stirlingshire in the Coca Cola Cup first round and came away with a 2-0 win thanks to first half goals from Wilson Robertson and Alan Hercher. Report by Ian Broadfoot: A fine performance by Caledonian Thistle in their first competitive match won them a second round tie against Dundee. The home 'keeper Moffat denied both Hercher and McAllister but the deadlock was broken in the 36th minute when Wilson Robertson scored after a 1-2 with Paul MacKenzie. Just on half time they went two ahead - Hercher distracted Ian Lee and a Scott corner ricocheted into the net off the defender. Alan Hercher was credited with the goal. In the second half the result was never in doubt and both MacDonald and Hercher nearly increased the visitors' lead. East Stirling did come close seven minutes from time when John Scott was forced to clear from his line. A few minutes later Robertson and Noble had shots saved by Moffat. In the last minute a Geraghty shot nearly gave East Stirling a consolation goal but it came off the bar. League Cup - Rd 1 Tuesday, August 9th, 1994, 7:30 PM at Firs Park, Falkirk Attendance: 899 Referee: M Clark Starting XI Mark McRitchie Dave Brennan Mark McAllister Mike Andrew Mike Noble John Scott Danny MacDonald Graeme Bennett Alan Hercher Paul McKenzie (Smart 66) Wilson Robertson Subs: Jim Calder (GK), Martin Lisle, Allan Smart2 points

I completely disagree with this. Our first team is League One standard and should be competing for promotion. The tactics are a mistake. A flat back three. Wingers playing in central midfield. Our best striker and last year's top scorer also in central midfield. Shooting from distance not allowed. Possession encouraged in our own half. There is no way this is not the fault of the tactics. And that's not to mention the stories we hear of player management ("I'm injured". Dunc: "what position do you play?"). Remember his win ratio for Forest Green was 5%. One win in 18 games! A competent manager would have us competing.2 points

I know it’s stupid saying this while dunc is in charge but even a change in formation could do a world of good. Longstaff looks so uncomfortable receiving in middle of the park2 points

It sounds like the kind of meeting which should have taken place a few weeks ago, but would be a very positive development if true. The bigger shareholders will be the people who are much better placed that most of us to assess whether the Makwana deal is good for the club or not. They are also the people who will be more familiar with the ins and outs of company law and procedure and will be in a better position to hold the club to account in all of this. Fingers crossed for some positive news coming from this if what Charles has heard is true.2 points

Has anyone heard anything about a meeting between the Board and the bigger shareholders, but not involving Scot Gardiner? What I heard was that the shareholders are keen to help the club if they possibly can. If this is the case, then I would look on this as a welcome development.2 points

Far from it. Morrison said that the change of ownership was to protect the Battery Company from potential administration of the Club. He said that in the event of a successful appeal and subsequent sale to a company to develop and operate the BESS, the club would then invoice the Battery Company for the proceeds (presumably less the sum paid by Morrison, Munro and Cameron to buy the company). If the appeal is successful, the BESS should still provide a major one off capital boost for the club in due course. Hopefully lessons will be learnt and whoever is running the club will not spend the money before it is received - or not, as the case may be.1 point

In case it helps, I see the BBC Sport app is now giving the attendance figure in the image with result, scorers etc, rather than where it used to be with the line ups.1 point

Have just discovered that Seventy7 tried to buy Southend United in late 2022. The deal was fronted by a guy who seems to be a local-lad-made-good, Carl Reader, but money would have come, via Seventy7, from a Monaco-based pension fund. Reader admitted that the investors were interested in the land, the property, and the development potential, and not in the football club. The fans asked the same sort of questions that we have been asking. The deal fell through in early 2023 - it seems that the chairman Ron Martin simply refused to consider it or even talk to Reader & co. If you are interested, there are a couple of discussion on a Southend fan forum - look for responses from the front man "Carl Reader" or "Carl": https://www.shrimperzone.com/forums/threads/carl-reader-seventy7-ventures-want-to-acquire-the-club.111822/ https://www.shrimperzone.com/forums/threads/q-a-with-carl-reader.111823/ Martin finally closed the sale of the club last month - NOT to Seventy7 - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cedxldzgyw7o1 point

Remember that, despite having next to no money, Dunc signed his namesake, Cameron Ferguson. He must be some player given we were virtually bankrupt at the time. Why oh why won't he play this goal machine?0 points

As someone who answers every question with a question I'm not sure he knows what a straight answer is. I've come to accept that we are screwed no matter what happens. All the digging into companies house and linkedin and google and all the blethering of fans and amateur journalists on here will not make a single iota of difference. I'm going to attend games and try and get some enjoyment from the little time we have left as a club. **** them all and I hope Morrison and Gardiner rot in hell for what they've done to us.-1 points
