The sickeningly hypocritical thing for me is that John Reid has no problem calling for the resignation of someone over what they lied about. He's calling for the resignation of man who does a part time job on weekends that involves taking control of a game...a game, not life and death. If this is so important to Mr Reid then why didn't he resign when he, and the rest of his cronies lied about why we went into Iraq? Something that has cost over a million lives and yet, by the sounds of things, the former is the thing that keeps him up at night. Sure, the referee lied and then covered it up, but it sounds a lot like somebody else to me.4 points

I support this decision as I would strike if I was consistently been moaned at and being accused of being bast and making wrong decisions. The refs are human at the end of the day and until they get better resources to help them they will carry on making these decisions. I would also stike if Neil Lennon was whining too me all the time.2 points

Could you imagine the uproar if roles were reversed, and ICT made a statement in the papers saying they were looking at players to replace Odihambo while he was a contracted player at the club. I dont like when agents do stuff like this, i think its mostly made up to try and bleed more money from clubs, and most of the time...BS in the first place!2 points

I have absolutely no problem with Duncan Shearer - Legend? Not so sure. We had a football forum with Duncan and Brian Irvine and they shared some really good stories. I remember the announcement about leaving to join Aberdeen and it wasn't well handled, but I don't bear any grudges about that. I have only 1 issue with the book and that is that he promoted it on the back of Pele's problems. It was on the radio all the time and all it went on about was how difficult life was working with a guy with so many problems - nothing about Duncan's career. I felt really sorry for Pele who has already opened his heart in his own book (which I loved, by the way) and opening these wounds when Pele is still doing really well wasn't IMHO necessary2 points

My question is simple; Why do i have to be logged in to read the follow up posts to each thread?? I feel we are excluding hundreds if not thousands of potential fans worldwide by not enabling them to view each thread and see what we are all about In my opinion we should be promoting the ICT brand to a world wide audience not restricting it to its members I would like to point it out that this is NOT a dig at the mods as i'm sure they have their reasons why they have set the forum out like this After the result today ICT find themselves in the strongest position they have ever been in so could we somehow be stunting the growth? P.s i'm on the kopparberg tonight so i hope the above makes sense Thoughts dougal1 point

We all know Mark is a shrewd manager with a deep insight into the mind of a multi millionaire chairman. A modern day Christmas Carol in reverse is being written to commemorate the Dandy Gothenburg Dons modern day team with all proceeds going to..... fund compensation package. Well known author, Barley Channerman, is currently writing 'Against All the Odds - Mister McGoo's guide to excuses'. Based on anecdotes gleaned from fans who lost faith in famous excuse makers such as 'I'm a County fan at the Moment'Brewster and Tommy Neil Cooper formerly a County fan, to name but a few because they are leaving in droves, the book has a distinctive Dickensian twist. On page one it begins ' "A refereeing decision conspired against us and cost us the game." As we move onto Christmas the scene is set where a worried 'Stewart Scrooge Milne' is sitting up in a luxury four poster bed. 'Willie or Wo'nt he Miller' enters and pleads with 'Milne', 'Stuart you must end this nightmare now. Do you not have some cash under the mattress?' 'Scrooge Milne' mumbles in distinctive but almost incomprehensible Scotland the What tones 'Wiki has this that now worries me: Brighton, a club he would lead to relegation, after his side were soundly beaten by Derby:"Their forward play and their movement was excellent and their tempo gave us problems all night, we just couldn't cope with that." Wolves with his failure to reach the top flight prompting a tirade from Wolves owner Sir Jack Hayward, who moaned that he would no longer be "the golden tit", supplying the club with endless finance.' Willie reassures a sweating Milny that he looks nothing like the legendary Sir Jack as he sits staring into his on line bank account with night cap slightly to one side and dressed in Paddington Bear pyjammas. Milny pleads with his Director of Football that McGhee has set some new records for the club in just a short time. 'Aberdeen, a club he would set two records with - 8-1 defeat to SK Sigma Olomouc in his first competitive games ( remind me who they are said 'Milne')and 9-0 to Celtic which 'you Mr Scrooge' said 'Willie or Won't you Miller' gave complete backing to after we emptied Pittodrie's biscuit tins and found just ?31.56p of tea monies to compensate him for such performances. 'Stuart, remember it got so bad that Zander lost the plot and forgot which end he was playing at when Mark promised the fans a win against St Johnstone.' Willie reminded his landlord of further Wiki quotes ' 'McGhee has also stated to the press "Go and look me up on Wikipedia. I've got a track record", prompting many to question the validity of this comment.' 'Baa humbug' said the sheeps long standing Chairman. 'No, I cannot afford to sack him' said Scroogy Milne 'I blame Adam Rooney for McGhee's troubles. He scored that damn hattrick for Stoke that got Mark sacked at Brighton. And you know that the referee should never have given Inverness a penalty for Rooney to rub Mark's face deeper into the Pittodrie mud. We cannot keep compensating Mark every time Rooney causes more pain' 'But Boss' pleaded Willie, the ex nightclub owner, 'when you appointed Mark you will recall the headlines ''The arrival of McGhee and assistant Scott Leitch heralds a new Dons era''. OK he did say his dream was to manage Celtic but he was only joking and the new era with low crowds, first division football and lots of flats on Pittodrie with us playing miles awayfrom public transport in a spanking new stadium (using cash on deposit from the ground share agreement with ICT not used to pay off the two very successful Jimmies) was not what I think we meant.' 'Willie' choked 'Scroogy' tell me that Hamilton are just 4 points above us at the moment, tell me the top 4 teams in the First Division have non compliant stadia, tell me I do not have to give McGhee ?250,000 as a reward for this?' Willie, informed his trusted multi-millionaire friend 'Scroogy, sorry I meant Stewart, it makes me spitting mad. You have all that cash, a lot made from houses and flats sold to our supporters. Can you not sacrifice a few pennies? It is hard to know how many more of these 'worst results of my managerial career'we can stomach: ''Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee has revealed he was spat at by some angry Dons fans after the Scottish Cup defeat by Raith Rovers at Pittodrie. McGhee described the 1-0 loss to the First Division club as the "worst result of my managerial career". To be continued.1 point

It's all a conspiracy, Lennon is so afraid of facing us on Saturday that he wants to heap so much pressure on the refs that they'll be scared to do anything other than ensure a Celtic victory.1 point
-
I seriously doubt that this strike will go ahead but the refs (quite rightly) have made a real statement here and the SFA will simply have to come up with a compromise. The really good news fer us is that we are going in to Centre Court on Saturday where the Cellic players, management and supporters will be under major media scrutiny. Those eejits do not have the fecki savvy to turn it to their advantage.1 point

I keep thinking back to my days in the amateur leagues ..... I ran a team, occasionally played (when they were desperate), and was also on the committee of the Inverness & District AFA. At every meeting we had to deal with disciplinary stuff after the main meeting finished. Most of it was mundane stuff, but on the few occasions that anything came up that included referee abuse - either verbal or in one case physical - it was manadated from above (the SAFA, and by extension, the SFA) that we had to come down on it like a ton of bricks. The referee report was 'gospel' and unquestionable, even if (as happened on one occasion) it could be shown to be at the very least 'inconsistent' with other witnesses (from both sides). If we went soft on any decision involving referees it would be turned over at Park Gardens (at the time), they would impose a harsher penalty, and we (the committee) would get our own warning from the beaks !!! I have been there when full season bans were given out to players or officials for stuff that seemed innocuous by today's standards and I have heard other stuff from down the road (Glasgow area) where people got 'sine die' lifetime bans. It alway seemed to me that punishment in the amateur leagues was far far harsher than in the professional leagues ..... perhaps we do need to crack down on managers and players who either abuse the refs or who by their words maybe incite some of the less intelligent fans to take action like scratching cars, breaking windows or uttering threats ..... However, by the same token, the refs also need to get their own house in order .... they need to be transparent, they need to explain decisions, and they need to engage both fans and officials on an equal basis rather than clamming shut and relying solely on referee reports. They are not infallible, they have a split second to make decisions using eyesight alone, none of the technical wizardry available to pundits or tv companies, and they can get it wrong. If they can admit that, and be open about things perhaps they would get less of a hard time !!! As for Dougie McDonald. Its cut and dried as far as I am concerned, He officiated a game and lied about a decision. It doesnt matter why, it now puts all his past and future decisions under the microscope and makes his position untenable. If the referees association chose to expel him rather than back him up, the other referees would not get such a hard time as it would show they were prepared to get their own house in order rather than close ranks.. - where did that whistleblower site go ? -1 point

I have the utmost sympathy with referees. They are ordinary guys like most supporters and yet week in week out they get abuse. There has to be far more respect for them with severe punishments handed out to clubs who seek to impose their own rules on the game. Mistakes by players and officials are an historic part of football's history. The ruling bodies should begin by insisting that demented managers or players who abuse fficials with foul or abusive language should be given automatic 10 game bans. Repeat offences would result in a double punishment. Such disgraceful behaviour as we have recently witnessed would then result in 'offenders' being isolated to prevent them repeating their offensive behaviour. Finally, officials should receive fixed sum compensation for abuse. We do not have to put up with this in our workplaces. As an aside it would be great to make 12 months without an away defeat - is there another club near that record in Britain?1 point

The wee man is growing in every game and thought on saturday he was outstanding for us. However when he was subbed off i felt it was a real shame like foran and hayes he was only greeted with clapping where as hayes and foran were greeted with a very focal support. About time the boy gets some real vocal backing for the more creative of people on the site please make a song for the lad he deserves it.1 point

when he was subbed he got plenty applause from me. He is a superb player and I can't imagine our first team without him.1 point

What is wrong is you are disrespecting Alex by saying so Can you please refer to the team as ICT or Inverness in the future, as far as i can see you are just trying to get a rise out of the ex jaggies which achieves nothing other than splitting the support :irritated: dougal Dougal, you make me laugh, fer sure, just can't decide whether I like you or not.1 point

I thought the team played very 'pele-esque' today. (I know it's not a word!). It was pretty refreshing to see some solid, attacking football at TCS and some of the stages of play were superb - fantastic to watch. An attacking style of play is great. So long as it's coupled with a winning mentality. This thread has got me thinking about our style of play and that of certain London club which plays in red and white. I'm in no way going to make any attempt at a direct comparison, but do they win week in, week out? And do they have a winning mentality? Please excuse me. I am drunk.1 point

He can't ignore him now. He just can't. What on Earth did Shane Long do to warrant a call up to the Norway game last week? Kevin Doyle? And does Robbe Keane still get call-ups? If he does it's on reputation and NOTHING else. Rooney cannot be ignored any longer by Ireland.1 point

I am one of the "old codger" brigade who remembers the days when Caley and Elgin clashed! Those were the day of real rivalry! Lots of goals, lots of fights and folk getting thrown out of the game, and bottles thrown at our Supporters bus, as it left Elgin. Oh dear!!!! Highland League was so calm then, not like the SPL and Premier League! Strange that I cannot remember any stewards then? Did they have them then, or are they a new breed - by the way the lovely lady steward in front of Section G today is absolutely the best - 100% marks to her - a star! Take a bow, madam. xx1 point

Both. History has shown us, that ICT always, without a shadow of a doubt do better when they play attacking football, using speedy effective wingers and keeping the ball on the deck. There's no two ways about it.1 point

Totally deserved win today... We gifted them their 2 goals, from stupid mistakes... Hope Hayes is better for next week... Just before he was subbed, he said he was "done"... - holding his hamstring....1 point

That second half was absolutely barmy. I need a lie down now. How on earth will we hold on to Rooney? He had a quiet first half, but he took his second and third goals beautifully. Hats off to Hayes - instead of cowering in his shell after he gave that gift to Riordan, he went and laid on two for Adam with sublime passes. Wasn't Lee Cox brilliant today? Back to his Duracell bunny best. Thought Shinnie had a blinder too. And there are three certainties in life - death, taxes, and that Mark Brown can't save penalties. Fantastic. How many bottles of wine do we currently owe TB as a Christmas gift?1 point

Scotty has already answered this part in regards the costs. I fail to see how a free to join forum excludes anyone? If someone has a genuine interest in ICT then they will register, if they are just digging for dirt and/or looking for gossip then registering may put them off. From experience, this stops a lot of selective picking of things from this forum turning up on in places and being used in ways we'd rather not see. I do take a little bit of an exception to this statement, but will put it down to your claims that you're new to the forums and as such are not aware of just how much CaleyThistleOnline and it's members have done since day one, and continue to do now, to promote ICT and help anyone with an interest in the club. Then maybe it would have been best that you stopped after the opening question!!! I've seen nothing to suggest this would be the case. At last count we were sitting at a figure of around 8 Million Page Views per annum (and climbing). I don't know the figures for all the other forums, but from the ones I am familiar with we are doing very nicely in that regard and the figures would suggest that we are doing more right than they are. We could do lots of things to increase our site statistics, but we value quality over quantity. We believe that people see enough of the site as a "guest" viewer so that if they are genuinely interested they will register. If visitors are going to be influenced by anything, then it will be the content and quality of discussion...and that's something we can't do by ourselves. In that regard, it's up to the site members to ensure they are doing their bit to "promote" ICT. Unfortunately we've not yet come up with a system that prevents people from posting whilst under the influence.0 points

I like Shearer as a man, I met him a few times in the passing and he was perfectly pleasant. I have it from very reliable people that Pele would not have left for Aberdeen if it hadn't been for Shearer and also (as CD stated) his attitude on leaving toward ICT irks me. That is because Pele is an ICT legend and always will be. It's all opinion anyway and as I stated I have nothing personal against DS. My original post may have been a bit flipant (as is very often my style on here) but I can asure anyone who is upset I have no malice towards the man. I just personally do not regard him as a pivotal figure in ICT's history. Anyway, its the weekend off to the pub. Ta-raa!0 points
