Here is the email I sent to Mr Cameron. As you can see its slightly altered from the one posted on here earlier but thought I would add it in case there was any other valid points etc. Dear Mr Cameron I am a Caley Thistle fan writing to express my opinions on a Rangers Newco. I am of the opinion that a new version of Rangers should under no cir***stances be voted into the SPL. While I appreciate that you have a huge decision on your hands and that you have probably received a number of emails on the subject, I feel it is only right that I contact you personally with my thoughts and to plea to you to vote NO to Newco Rangers. I have contacted the ICT supporters Trust with a similar message as well as expressed my opinions on calythistleonline.com. From an ICT perspective I feel you should not vote for a newco for the following reasons. Football is still fundamentally a sport. While there has often been a clash between commercialism and football; this is the reason the SPL scores are reported in the sports section of the news and not at the same time as the FTSE 100. To let someone (in this case a football club) off for cutting corners in order to achieve commercial gain eliminates any notion of ICT being a sports team and Scottish football being a contest. Dwaine chambers was a big name in his sport but was still banned from competing for breaking the rules. Surely allowing Rangers Newco into the SPL would have an adverse effect on the reputation of Scottish Football abroad? This would make Scottish Football look low-rent which for a league with a number of International TV Deals could have a negative impact on the reputation of ICT and other clubs overseas as a result. Inverness Caledonian Thistle had to jump through a number of hoops to get into the SFL and even more to get into the SPL by sacrificing two clubs with passionate independent support and going to great expense to meet stadium criteria. Many figures at the club have worked hard over the years (the late Jock McDonald for example). Our neighbours Ross County are upgrading their stadium as we speak to play in the SPL. Why should a Newco automatically enjoy the privileges of SPL membership others have had to go to great expense to achieve? Inverness Caledonian Thistle have always tried to live within their means and remain debt free. It could be argued that trying to do things the right way has meant the club has struggled to compete with teams who spend more and are in debt as a result. ICT voting Rangers Newco back into the SPL would mean the club are being hypocritical and devaluing their own good ethics. Why should the club go through the annual frustration of not being able to hold on to their top players when other teams that have effectively cheated can keep theirs and achieve higher league positions and cup runs? Why should members of the board such as yourself spend so long trying to balance the books when others are less scrupulous? The television deal with SKY is often used as an excuse to ensure Rangers stay in the SPL. In my opinion Scottish Football should not rely on television money as TV is a fickle industry. It’s possible that if TV ratings for the SPL or football in general decreased SKY could pull the plug regardless of the presence of the Old Firm? British Professional Wrestling has never fully recovered from being pulled from ITV by Greg Dyke in the late 1980’s; this was a TV sport that famously got higher ratings than the FA Cup Final that soon after disappeared from the airways. Football clubs should ensure that they can survive without this money in the long term as one day it may not be there. I would also like to point out there has been no guarantee that SKY would pull the plug completely on the SPL TV Deal should Rangers not be in the league. I also feel that Scottish football would still appear on TV without the Old Firm. After all SKY show football leagues with less appeal than ours such as the Australian Hyundai A-League and other fringe sports like Elite League Ice Hockey. I fear that if ICT voted for Newco Rangers and fans of the club found out, there could be a backlash and a decrease in support which I fear the club could not afford. I fear this may not just come from our own supporters. I have spoken to a good friend of mine who is a Celtic Season ticket holder and a member of a Celtic supporter’s club. He has informed me that supporters clubs of many SPL teams are planning boycotts of the grounds of clubs who vote for Newco. I am unsure on how accurate or widespread this is but I feel the club may suffer in terms of attendances if this were to happen. Both halves of the Old Firm have expressed interest to leave the SPL which shows a disregard for the wellbeing of other clubs in Scotland. Why should these clubs be sympathetic to them? A few years from now when Rangers are in a better position there is nothing stopping these clubs from saying the same thing again. The SPL clubs (ICT included) should try and ensure they can survive without the Old Firm regardless of how difficult this is. I would rather see ICT playing in a lower league and living within their means than see them being subsidy junkies in the SPL. Having only one half of the Old Firm in the SPL will make it easier for ICT and other SPL teams to renegotiate voting rights and distribution of wealth. This would mean if/when Newco Rangers reach the SPL things are a lot fairer than before. With Newco Rangers automatically allowed into the SPL I feel this would be difficult. Finally, making a Newco Rangers begin life in the Third Division may be a once in a lifetime chance to show how difficult it is for a team to survive out with the alleged land of milk and honey that is the SPL and to ensure that things change for the better down the pyramid. For a club like ICT who have had recent stint out with the SPL and may very well find themselves in that situation again, I feel this is vital as it will impact on the club's future. I appreciate the opportunity to express my opinion on the matter and I also understand that you are privy to information regarding the club and the Newco situation that fans such as myself are not. I hope that you will make the right decision as chairman of the club, I have every confidence that as a businessman and as a man who as always tried to do whats best for the club and it's fans that you will. I do not envy you having to make the decision but I genuinely feel you and the other SPL chairman have a chance to make a real step forward in Scottish football. Yours sincerely James Proctor5 points

Couldnt see this posted anywhere else. (if it is a duplicate, Mods feel free to delete) it appears that Owain Tudor Jones has verbally agreed a new contract, no idea for how long as the only source I can find says: http://www.highland-news.co.uk/Sport/Football/Inverness-Caley-Thistle/Seven-up-for-Caley-Thistle-14062012.htm He had a really bad season last year for injuries and i dont think we ever got to see Owain at his best. He always appeared assured on the ball and had a good range of passing. Hopefully if he does indeed sign on again that he can get a full pre-season and start the season fresh and injury free as i'm sure he can bring a lot to the team3 points

Are you too young to remember him tearing up the SPL? Not quite but it's easy to forget that just like its easy to forget the good butchers done when we have one bad season. Are you Butchers lovechild or something? your blind defense of him is something to behold. May i remind you....in Butchers time here, he got us relegated in his first half season here...from a situation that was salvageable, and he nigh on repeated that feat last season. So I think overall, his record is leaning toward sub-standard! To be fair, it was the players who got us relegated, not Butcher. He doesn't kick a ball on the pitch....so those who do have to bear as much of the blame as he does. Might as well not have a manager then eh.3 points

As I've stated in other threads I will be turning my back on football therefore I wont be watching any. My view is that if cheating and law breaking are seen to go pretty much unpunished, and if football clubs are prepared to support the lack of punishment, then this game is not worth my support. It is written that the game in Scotland is finished without Rangers. If thats the case then so be it. The founder members of the SPL let it happen. They all tried to buy some form of success and they all have been close to liquidation. If they've now allowed themselves to have to be dependant on TV alone then they have sat back and allowed the game in Scotland to die. As an aside maybe the SPL leaders should be out drumming up business from other TV companies. BBC, ITV, Virgin, ESPN, BT, Eurosport etc. Sky is not the only crowd out there.3 points

Dear Mr Cameron, As I'm sure you are aware, with the impending liquidation of Rangers FC not too far away and the highly likely prospect that you and the other chairman of the remaining SPL clubs will vote on the matter as to whether to allow a "NewCo Rangers" to join the SPL. As you know, the fans are almost completely of the opinion that a NewCo Rangers, should they be allowed to join the league system, should start at the bottom of the ladder in the Third Division, just as the newly formed Caledonian Thistle FC had to do back in 1994. Mr Cameron, vote for the wishes of the fans. Vote for dignity. Vote for justice. Vote against an organisation that has exploited sectarianism and bigotry for it's own gain. Vote against a NewCO of a club that has stolen millions to buy itself success. Vote for you to be seen as a man and ICT as a club, who said NO. Mr Cameron, vote NO to NewCo. Yours sincerely, Renegade ICT Season Ticket Holder1 point

... to Dundee. The Glasgow based media are focussing on the potential of a Glasgow based newco club in the SPL. But remember, Dundee and Falkirk have already applied. Not to mention Dunfermline who may even have a case. Dundee finished 2nd in SFL1. They should be next in line to take any empty spot in the SPL. Forget the financial side for one moment. They should be next. Any new team must start at the bottom. Therefore, Dundee are the fair and natural choice and I urge the board to vote yes to Dundee. They bring a descent support as well, albet not as much as a Glasgow based newco would bring. If County replace Rangers in filling the away end, Dundee will more than make up for the relegation of Dunfermline so in theory our away crowds should be bigger this coming season than last. If on a day Caley Thistle aren't playing, I would happilly watch the Dundee derby. It would be an asset to the league and will bring some added spice. A Highland derby, Edinburgh derby and a Dundee derby sounds very attractive indeed. So lets not forget about Dundee. They should be next in line to fill in a vacant space. Yes to Dundee.1 point

Extend the league once Rangers are out, then everyone will be happy! I have a notion that attendances will soar with the interest of a new league format, Sky will be all over that too. But Dundee for me should we be asked to vote for one team.1 point

Well, the punters invariably state that pre-season is for warming up and for trying out things but not necessarily for winning games. Let's have a look at the final squad to assess it's experience before we prejudge.1 point

I think the key word in the press release is "schools". That may suggest that some of the players might not be that young or inexperienced (particularly if they have kids of school age). I can also think of one player, who's contract has not yet run out with another club who has a child of school age..... Oh please let it be true! Also, if the above post is true about Wigan loanees, I hope one of those is Golobart!1 point

If Rangers are out of the SPL, that means they have no voting rights in the SPL. SO if sky do want to renegotiate the deal and say offer half of the £80m, then Celtic have no leverage without there horrible twin. Therefore then money could theoretically be split completely equally making every club bar Celtic much much better off! At the moment of the £80m TV deals bring in, the old firm get 85% of that, which is £68m over 4 years between the 2 clubs. Meaning the other 10 clubs get £12m over 4 years between them, which is £300,000 per season. Absolutley outrageous..... £40 million split evenly over 12 clubs over 4 years equates to just over £800,000 per club per season. Now obviously this is just theoretical, but its possible the clubs could be much better off by getting Rangers out of the league and voting fairly and not completely in the interest of the Old Firm. By having that financial fairness it would make a much more competitive league and more importantly a league with improved quality. When that happens the TV money goes up and we could seriously entertain the idea of a good quality 16 team league. Crowds would be improved, lots of derbies, the national team should improve. Its win win for me but the clubs have to have the foresight and most importantly the balls to say NO, Enoughs enough, and get Rangers out. The funny thing is that when Rangers eventually get back to the SPL all those changes would benefit them, they'll still have huge crowds bringing in more money but at the same time actually getting pushed by teams week in week out which will in turn help them progress in Europe, rather than the mindless procession to the title each season along with Celtic. This has to happen for the sake of the game in this country.1 point

The first point I'd make here is this: I do not see myself punishing the club I support by not supporting them if Rangers Newco stay in the SPL. I will not only be walking away from the club I will be walking away from football in Scotland simply because my conscience will not allow me to have any part in supporting a crooked regime. To do otherwise would, in my mind, be aiding and abetting the cheats and taxdodgers of the game. Everyone is talking about loss of revenue and clubs will struggle in a league without Rangers. Wheres the facts and figures. Its all supposition. Sky have never said they'll pull out, nor have they said they'd invoke any clause in contract. Why should they. With over a million customers in Scotland Sky make a lot of money here. They pull out of football and many, many customers will pull the plug on them. No Scottish football on the box and I wont be paying for their package. Loss of gate reciepts? Next season we will likely have one home game against Rangers so we could lose some 3500 ticket sales. A potential maximum loss of 88,000 except it wont be because many of those tickets will be children and concessions. Next season we have two local derbies to look forward to. Ticket sales for them will more than offset the loss from a Rangers visit. A level playing field for everyone with league monies being distributed in a much fairer way would offset the losses to clubs like us. A more realistic chance of finishing a season on top of the league would offset the losses. But how much the loss if people with the same principals as myself decide to forsake football. For every 100 that stay away thats a potential loss of income of £22,000 or more. Having watched and read as things unfold I believe many more than that will stay away if Newco are permitted into the SPL1 point

There was never a point last season when I felt we would go down so unsure what your asking. I just had a little experiment and turned out my hypothesis was correct. Fans on here are happy to defend a player with no ties to the club but not our own manager.1 point

Woof woof. Aye there is always room for improvement. 14 players may be required, but they have had their eye on some for a while now so I would expect things to move along soon. Sooner rather than later would be ideal but the league is broke so I doubt there will be any great rush of quality players heading North. No matter what team we produce, I will be getting behind themn anyway, so I am happy to wait and see the outcome instead of promoting mass hysteria, this goes on every season since man was made, and this season is no different, just the budget that's prohibitive.
