  1. So presumably if Kilmarnock win a place in Europe they will pass it over because the travelling will be a bit too much for them?

  2. Don't know about others but I was very disappointed with Kenny Cameron's statement. To me there seemed to be a clear message that whilst the strong feeling of supporters was acknowledged, this was to be first and foremost a business decision on what the Board consider best for the club and Scottish football. It sounds as though the Board has been listening too much to Green who has asked Boards to make a business decision when they vote on July 4th. Let's be clear. This is not about business. Business is about making money and giving shareholders a return on their investment. Since when have any shareholders in ICT ever expected a return on their investment? Shareholders in ICT have put money into the club to help bring a standard of football to Inverness that they and the rest of the paying public want to see. Our return on investment is entertainment and hopefully success on the park. There will be no entertainment if ICT play Rangers newco because nobody will be there to watch the game. It may be that the Board is persuaded that an SPL without Rangers will not be in the best financial interests of the club, but so what? If that is the case then it will be the responsibility of the Board to cut expenditure to match any loss in revenue. That is a small price to pay to behave in a principled way by saying "no" to a newco that has absolutely no right to a place in the SPL. I was also very disappointed to hear that there had been a full and frank exchange of views in discussions between the club and the Supporters' Trust. That suggests that there were clearly differing views. But why were there discussions in the first place? There is nothing to discuss. Rangers newco is a club that has never played a game of football in its existance. It must start at the bottom like we and everybody else did. We expect the club to vote "no" and we expect the club to make an official statement to that effect in the near future.

  3. Going by papers and radio, its more likely to be a halfway house result. Servco admitted to SPL, then to appease fans, a demotion to 1st Div. Coincidentaly, asuming Servco get promoted, the new SKY deal would be due then. Not very satisfactory IMO. The SPL must think fans are stupid if they think we can't see through it. Its all but giving in to Servco. No vote should mean, No compromise, No more chances, No easy way back, No Newco in SPL, Div 1, Div2

  4. Reminds me of a time many years ago when I was at sea. Game arranged for a sunday afternoon against an Italian ship. We had been out the night before on the lash. Turned up at the venue in cut off jeans, many different t-shirts and sandles. Italians arrive in a luxury coach. All stripped in national colours with boots and shin guards. We won 14-1.

  6. Charles, the people who pay you to commentate and comment are more guilty than anyone else of bemoaning the north south devide. I am also saddened by the fact you choose to portray your personal political views in this conversation. Neither you nor I know how a free Scotland will be divided or united.

  7. Although not strictly "ICT" subject matter, and the OP posted it in the correct forum for non-ict and non-football topics, I have "used my admin powers for good" and pinned and moved it from there into ICT as that is the forum that gets the most views and hopefully more people will read it and sponsor Julie. If anyone wants to complain about that action ... please contact me by PM and not in the thread !!!

  8. After all the nonsense posted on here by some, it is good to hear that he has put pen to paper and the speculation can end. It sounds as though he has a good attitude and hopefully he will be a very useful addition to the squad. Welcome Gary and good luck.

  9. not really getting it are you D? if he HAS signed for county what does that say for our ambitions as a club? Losing Tokely to them ? fair enough, past his prime, but to lose Hayes to them would signal our intent as being a nothing club in my eyes. I don't think it says anything other than C*unty (thanks to Uncle Roy) are willing to spend a bit of cash in their first season in the SPL....together with the added value to them of sticking two fingers up at ICT. It won't last and they will soon come to realise that such an approach is not sustainable. If it does say anything then it's that we won't get caught up in silly games of oneupmanship which just end up hurting the bank balance...something that no club, not even C*unty in the long run, can afford to be doing.

  10. Can we have a survey to find out how many fans outwith Kilmarnock think Shiels is a t*at

  11. That's a fair shout Davie. Nope, disagree. We have a new company and an old company. You can't punish the NewCo for any misdemeanors by the OldCo. That's why the starting off position of the NewCo is so important. It is the only opportunity to punish Rangers for what they have done, and the only way to appease supporters of all clubs so that they might not turn their back on attending games for good. NewCo Rangers must start in Div 3 season 2012/13.

  14. Whilst looking on OverTheBridge at all the Hayes gossip, I came across their 'Memorial Trophy' thread... They really are up for this. They had another training session the other day. Seem's like their striker is either very good, or their keeper is completely rubbish. He's scored a few in their wee 7-a-side training sessions so far. I'm quite a competetive chap, and although this is meant to be a fun match, there's no way i'll be wanting to walk away without that trophy. The gym will be my home for the next few weeks (if I can get away from the beer fridge). Bring 'em on!!! Grrrr

  16. Disagreeing here boys. There's six weeks until the start of the season and there is no way that Pariah FC will be ready by then. I reckon suspended from all competition for a year while league reorganisation and funding rationalisation takes place. Where they go depends upon what further skeletons rattle their way out of the cupboard - and there is the potential for some feckin huuuuuge ones, never mind what Charlie Greens or Strathclyde Polis's next move might be. £124 219 412.37 in debt, of which 94 426 217.22 is due to the nice tax man? There are questions in there that are going to take a lot longer than 6 weeks to answer. Oh aye and the SFA have still got to give a new, approved punishment? Take a year out please chaps, and get your sh*t together.

  20. Twitter's a waste of time IMO, nothing but glib soundbites. And it is darn hard work, when you have the verbosity gene, to say anything in 140 characters including spaces! I have only managed to tweet twice in the time I have had an account because it takes as long to cut a thought back to the bare minimum than it does to pontificate at length on here. Notice a lot of footballers manage it by using text speak. I don't even use that in texts!

  25. Dear Mr Cameron, My wife and I started watching Caledonian Thistle (remember there was no Inverness back in those days) in 1995, during the club's second season in the league. Since then, our family (ourseleves and our three boys) have supported the team the length and breadth of Scotland, enjoying (and sometimes enduring) the highs and lows of life on the road as a football supporter. Memories such as being one of the 'Stranraer 2' the night Jim Farry made Inverness return south, just 48 hours after a frozen pitch saw off our cup tie; being one of the 'Berwick 17' the night we got dumped out of the league cup; the 5-1 humping we took at Cappielow on a Friday night before Scotland hosted England the next day in the Euro playoffs; Feb 8th 2000; Caledonian Stadium when (a) we got promotion to the SPL the first time (b) we got relegated; the 7-0 game Somerset Park; the 4-3 game at Livingston... the list just goes on and on... these are the memories that define the very soul of a football supporter. It's not just about the result, it's about how you got there: it's about the journey. I believe that whatever you achieve in life, you must earn it; indeed the satisfaction to be gained by doing things the hard way, the proper way, far outweigh anything that you can get on the cheap. Ask any Caley Thistle Highland Marcher how it feels when you get to that ground at the other end of the walk... And so to 'The Rangers Football Club'... this football club has no history for it is a new club. It may have a ground and wonderful training facilities, but it (currently) has no players, and hence no team. I have spent 17 years on the road with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, and here we are, about to welcome our neighbours from over the bridge into the same promised land that we have been part of for so long. Seventeen long years that Highland football has taken to sit at the top table... But now, because it suits the commercial interests of not only the Central Belt majority but the mainstream Scottish media, whose very existence has for so long depended on what was once The Old Firm, we are being force fed the notion that Scottish football needs The Rangers in the SPL. It does not. The Rangers have not earned their right; indeed they have not yet earned their right to any place in the Scottish league. The likes of Spartans and Gala Fairydean have, in my opinion, every bit as much of a right to a place in the league. So in summary, I would say this: if there is one part of Scotland that should understand how it feels to earn the right to play in the SPL, that place is in the Highlands. There is absolutely NO WAY that The Rangers FC should be granted a place in the SPL without first having earned the right by promotion through the league structure, and in the event that it should happen, then my family will never again return to the Scottish game.

  27. TheKarl - Are you 'Wum' in disguise? Seriously pal, there are other ways to generate some team spirit than slag people off that didn't make it down for a damn photo!! Quite cheesed off by that comment tbh. Completely uncalled for!! Anyway, I digress... Looking forward to this game. Had a run out for my local welfare team the other day. Felt good and bagged the 4th in the 6-2 win. I know 3 lads who are playing as we've all played together before. And I must say, our keeper (BA) is gonna be one hell of a keeper to beat! Looking forward to starting up front with IHE. Sounds like that, with his form and mine, we're gonna have one hell of a strike partnership! (That's if I make the starting 11 of course). I know Capital has tried to keep everyone in the loop via e-mail, but for everyone else clarity, can we please confirm the details of the match... by this i mean, is it rolling subs, who's all playing, what is the line up. Whats the itinerary for the team pre-match and indeed is there a 'party' afterwards. One or two people I know of may take the trip down for this, but considering the fuel costs etc, it may be worth allowing these people to join in more than just turing up and paying their £3... Just a thought

  30. Not just that, I'm pretty sure he never went 'whining' to the media anyway. Everybody knows how it works. The reporter's looking for a story to fill a page so he rings Ross up. He puts enough words in his mouth and he agrees with some of them. Then he can write 'Tokes Blasts Tel!' Or 'Toke off Butcher!' or, er, OK you can tell I've never worked as a sub editor Look at that Oddquine, about 70 words

  32. Anne, I can understand some of your despair but dont you think ICT fans have expectations greater than the club can provide. We are a small team in a big league. We will always be fighting off relegation. We dont have the fanbase or the funds to be anything other. As to the continuing gripes about local talent. Look at the squad. Look at how many players we have that came through our system. I think, considering the size of the population, we are doing very well in bringing through the ones we have. And I'm sure there will be more in years to come. A footballing talent is something thats in the genes. It is then nurtured and coached to perfection. Those talents are few and far between within our country far less our wee city. That is reflected in both our national team and last seasons U-19 performances.

  35. I don't agree with Proctor that Aberdeen is an awful place, I've lived in the west coast Highlands and also Glasgow before Aberdeen and I haven't ever been as happy as I am now.. I do agree though that a move to Aberdire (the team) would be disasterous for Hayes, such a step sidewards for as player with so much potential. The Evening Express has always been a spread of sh#t and never have I read such poor journalism, it's almost embarressing.
