  1. Hello all, just want to say that Newport fan's are delighted to see Gary Warren doing so well for you guys since his move north and getting a 2 year deal. Having browsed your forum I see that you seem to like Gary and was wondering what you guys thought of him joining you pre season? Did you expect him to be any good after coming from the 5th level of the English League? All the best for the rest of the season and if you want to send a friendly our way after getting Gary on a free then we wouldn't say no.

  2. The scene is set for Mr Brown's Boys Inverness take on Mr Brown's Boys on Saturday, three days after Bomber won his first game in charge of the Dee in his fourth game as interim manager. He has stopped the rot though, with four points in the last two games after Dundee had suffered four straight defeats and it would complete a decent enough week or so for the bottom club should they upset Inverness at the weekend. In midweek, a battling 2-1 win for Dundee against St Mirren after coming from behind showed great character from the relegation threatened club. That was on the back of a determined draw against St Johnstone last midweek and a tremendous bounce back after the derby cup quarter final defeat to the Arabs at the weekend. It was only their fourth win of the campaign which sees them fourteen points adrift of the Buddies, but it would take more than a miracle for Dundee to get out of this one methinks. Inverness are boosted by news that more players are about to pen new deals on the back of Gary Warren extending his contract. Good news for Inverness fans as the players follow the managers example by staying in the Highlands. These players were revealed as striker Billy McKay and midfielder Ross Draper, with Owain Tudur-Jones another target. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Ydth8T0Ctsw?list=PL30A0B5E92F18F713" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Great to have them on board for another season or two, but rumours abound that Andy Shinnie may be going South after the summer. Great disappointment if so as Andy has quality in abundance and deserves a shot at another level of play and pay, I just wonder if Birmingham City are the best ones for that opportunity. Best ask Rooney.........that's Adam, remember him? Currently on loan from Birmingham at Swindon Town. Tread carefully Andy, but good luck whatever. Inverness have put eight goals past Dundee already this season whilst conceding twice in the two games so far. Dundee's goal difference is 43 goals worse off than ours and that tells it's own story. However, they have only lost eight more goals than us. Scoring goals is where the massive difference is with Dundee only hitting the back of the net 18 times on SPL duty. But, if you take into consideration that our goals have dried up recently then this game is not quite as one sided as league positions would have us believe. We only have one win to boast about at Dens park, that being the 1-4 in October. On that night in the city of Discovery, Billy McKay scored a double with Gary Warren and Andy Shinnie adding two more. The inevitable goal from Colin Nish was Dee's reply but in the end they were well beaten, but not without a fight. Judging by performances that night, Nicky Riley is worth keeping an eye on. The tricky winger looks comfortable on the ball and is capable of scoring as well as providing for others..........like Nish or Baird. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/R-8hJ0R47yE?list=PL30A0B5E92F18F713" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> ***Latest Team News*** Inverness defender Chris Hogg played his first 45 minutes with the u20's last Sunday after his horrific knee injury last year. Good to see the Hoggmeister getting back on the pitch. Simon King is still out and Phillip Roberts is nursing an injury. Aaron Doran was subbed last week after a knock but should make the squad and Graeme Shinnie's suspension for the joke booking last weekend does not kick in until the game against County next week. Dundee have Stephen O'Donnell, Mark Kerr and Jamie McCluskey still out. Declan Gallagher returns after suspension, and striker Carl Finnigan should keep his place on the bench after recovering from injury. I believe this is the same Mr Finnigan that was involved in our relegation when he played for Falkirk........ tm4tj Prediction:- Banana skin alert! This one has slippery surface written all over it as John Brown stamps his robust style on the Dundee team, despite objections from large numbers of their support. Yes we have scored eight times, but momentum has changed, and our goals are not so easy to come by recently although our defence has been solid. Neither the Arab's or the Gudgies were able to penetrate our Ryan. That tempts me to hope for a win, but a draw might be the unwanted result in the push for European football. First the Highlands, now Europe............who would have thought it? :ictscarf:

  3. OK Andy, listen up and listen up good 'cos I ain't gonna say this again. Birmingham! WTF! Adam went there a couple of years ago and now struggles to get a place on the bench at Swindon. Just what is the attraction? Ah! Money! I can understand that the Blues are offering a lot more than ICT and that's attractive when a playing career is so short. But it's not that short. Ask Adam what he's been offerred next year. Not half as much as you I'll bet and that's what'll be offerred to you in a couple of years after warming the bench at a club that has no hope of winning anything and where players are not much in the public eye. ICT can't offer you as much money next year but it's more than may players are getting. But they can offer you a lot more than just the money. For a start you'll be playing in the top flight of a national league and perhaps also in a European competition. That will increase the profile of the team and all the players. But next year promises so much. With several top players signed up already and with your former mates in blue still in the football wilderness, there is a tremendous opportunity for this team to develop and be a real contender for a clear second place next year. Who knows, a place in a cup final or even better is a distinct possibility if you all stick together! What's that you say? Sounds good but you need the money? Hold on, I was just coming to that. You've been offered quite a bit more just now but if you stay in Inverness and continue to develop then the long term prospects will be much better. If you are seen as the creative attacking midfield general of a successful ICT next year and get a dozen or so goals for good measure, then you'll have a lot better teams than B'ham Sh*tty looking to sign you. You'll be a sought after young man. You'll have the double benefit of enjoying another great year in Inverness with regular first team games together with a much better deal with a club with real prospects in the season to follow. What's not to like about that? What's that? You'll stay? Good lad, you'll not regret it!

  4. Playing that oval ball game on a football pitch is like putting lemonade into a 25 year old malt. As I drove past the hallowed turf on my way home from work today my heart sank as I saw the abomination of rugby posts thrusting up into the early evening sky. The TCS is no place for these rucking scrumbags.

  5. Disappointed to lose him, beautiful footballer, one of the classiest we've had. But I'm pleased that he's at least made a real step up rather than going to the likes of Aberdeen. Best of luck to him down there, I think he's got what it takes to be a real success.

  6. Pointless move for him IMO, he would have been better served staying another year at least and getting another season of first team football under his belt before going to the Championship, or possibly League 1 with Birminghams form, for the £££££s. Cant blame him though, the money will be good for sitting on the bench.

  9. Billy McKay has signed a two-year contract extension. The forward has scored 18 goals for the Highland outfit this season. Midfielder Ross Draper has also agreed a one-year extension to follow defender Gary Warren, who signed a new deal last week. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21703400

  10. Already have turned down more than treble my salary (and that was to live in Paris, not Brum) but not for the same job (a similar, but definitely more admin post). Can't put a price on satisfaction. But it takes a while to realise that. I agree money does motivate players and the public at large in their jobs. But I don't get why it motivates fans. Surely, the wage packet means nothing to us? Isn't it all about football, not personal finance, to supporters? Would you applaud Shinnie if he got a job as a project manager with Microsoft because he'll make more money? Why do you care how much he earns and not the silverware he can pick up?

  11. Birmingham seems to have about five or six Nandos so I think he will be off.

  13. Thank you! When he signed I didn't really know what to think to be honest. We had SOOOOO many new players that I didnt really know what to think of Gaz. But he is just exceptional! He is so solid at the back, I have never seen a defender head the ball clear so much. Plays the ball out and I haven't seen him make a mistake yet. And of course.....he scores goals for fun! Always pops up at exactly the right time and its no coincidence, he places the headers perfectly better than anyone in our team. After coming from 3-0 down and him scoring the 4th to go 4-3 up against Dundee united was my favourite one! And a friendly....sure! (Although you should probs change your username lol)

  16. I thought the same (it was probably U21s or something), but from what I can gather it's the first team.

  17. He is already one of the very long list of players who have significantly outscored megabucks striker Andrew Barrowman.

  18. As usual we have a total over-reaction from Man U about a decision which went against them. Let's look at the facts. Nani had his eyes firmly on the ball and lifted his foot to control the ball. There was absolutely no intent to foul. There does not need to be any intent in order to send a player off for what is deemed by the referee to be reckless or dangerous play. Whilst Nani had his eyes firmly on the ball he should still have had an awareness of players round about him. Before the ball was played he would be looking around and would know roughly where players were and he really must have been aware that a Real player would also go for the ball. Nani was turning away from his line of sight with his foot raised chest high and it is not unreasonable for the referee to consider that as reckless. The referee sees the incident just the once in real time. It looks on the reply as though Nani maybe caught the Real player high on the arm and not in the chest despite the chest clutching and rolling around, but really that is irrelevant in terms of the decision against Nani. If it was deemed to be reckless, it was reckless wherever it happened to catch the opposing player. He may have caught the player on the arm or the chest but it could just as easily been his throat. In mitigation, it is clear that Nani was attempting to control the ball with his foot rather than kicking it and therefore the consequence of any contact with the opposing player would be significantly less than it might have been. In other words, the incident will have looked worse than it actually was. In my view their can be no doubt that at least a yellow card was warranted and whilst I think a red card was maybe harsh, I can understand why the referee made the decision. Man U were possibly hard done by but these things happen and they just have to get on and deal with it. And whilst there can perhaps be a little sympathy for them over the decision, there can be absolutely none for the way they behaved afterwards. Firstly, whilst they are blaming the decision for changing the game, I think that is actually not the case. They lost to two very good goals. The first by Modric was a magnificent strike and the second soon after was a well worked goal - neither were a consequence of being over-run being a man over. Ferdinand applauding the referee right in his face at the end and other players pointedly refusing to shake his hand at the end was simply pathetic as was Ferguson's petulant refusal to speak to the media afterwards. I for one sincerely hope they have some sanctions imposed against them for that as to my mind that sort of behaviour brings the game into disrepute.

  19. Is it really such a hard decision for players like McKay? I dont think there are many players who've come here that haven't found the area and the club to be a very enjoyable experience. The ones that dont want to stay are usually those who've been brought up on central belt football and who prefer the bright lights and ignorant beings of big city life to the relaxation and friendliness of the more rural setting.

  20. Firstly the name County has significant meaning to us ICT fans so expect some naughty remarks lol Warren has been fantastic for us! He's made the transition to the SPL with ease in my opinion! Worthy of his 2 year deal! As for a friendly! I can't recall if we have played a Welsh team before! Happy to see that change,

  21. Technically it's a one year extension for Billy, as he was already signed up until 2014 anyway. But to the board and Tel.

  23. and what did he say ? will never forget the reaction anyway lol There's been a few variations on this - Scotty and others asked him before. This week he thought it was along the lines of 'don't ask him to spell his name ref'
