One step at a time folks. Saturday first...

Quote from the 2nd para of the article: "So we came back to three things - employ someone who can implement a certain style of play, be open-minded in the transfer market and promote young players from within. In appointing the head coach, that person had to fit in with those three things. Daniel (Farke) has been brave enough to play homegrown players and make them better and as a club we have given him support in doing that because it’s one of our criteria for success." I seem to recall we had a manager that fitted the above description but folk didn't like it so we fired him and appointed a rookie with no football management experience, philosophy or style. Reinventing the wheel may be good fun but it's not productive, the past three years of torture could have been easily avoided by sticking with JH's style of football throughout our teams. The reality deniers on here will try to justify JH's removal because he wasn't good at this or that but the fact remains we finished 3rd in the premiership qualified for Europe and won the SC on a shoestring, it could have been the start of something brilliant and success attracts players who want to play for your club especially when they are getting good money moves elsewhere by performing well but no, the board had to exercise their authority, appoint their favourite son, supported by at least 50% on this forum, so please, no more plans about how to run a club successfully especially one with no money, we had it and we blew it, end of, that opportunity has passed us by.
  3. Might be the most glamerous game of the season so far and one we are all looking forward to but I would take issue with it being the biggest. For as long as we still have promotion in our sights, the league games are bigger and more important. Getting to another major cup final would be wonderful and a fantastic achievement. However,, a third successive season out of the top division, this time without any parachute payment, could have very serious and long lasting consequences.
  4. No as he was making a genuine attempt to play the ball. The rule changed about 2 years ago to stop the double punishment of a penalty and a red card. I'll draw some pictures for you next time bud.

According to the SPFL these are the Play Off dates for that Premier league place. May 8 Ladbrokes Premiership play-off quarter-final, 1st leg 11 Ladbrokes Premiership play-off quarter-final, 2nd leg 15 Ladbrokes Premiership play-off semi-final, 1st leg 18 Ladbrokes Premiership play-off semi-final, 2nd leg 23 Ladbrokes Premiership play-off final, 1st leg 26 Ladbrokes Premiership play-off final, 2nd leg Question is, how are ICT going to cope with a two leg play off final against St Mirren and the Scottish Cup Final (25th May) against Aberdeen? Three games in four days seems a bit unfair don't you think?
  6. Much of what you say is true but boycotting matches is effectively abandoning the team and will only make matters worse.
  7. I can hardly believe that an ICT fan would forgo watching his team at Hampden because of the SFA and their awful policies. Some of our players may never have played there before, and may never play there again. Such occasions make memories to be savoured for all concerned, young and old. I was too ill to attend the final in 2015 but have great memories of the semi final - wonderful David Raven goal. I hope all going to Hampden on Saturday have a great time, no matter the result - such are days out following ICT - come on Caleyaway. Raise the roof- make plenty noise.
  8. Bad enough not attending, but you do realise that your argument also - in fact, primarily - prevents you from watching it on TV?

Do you just copy and paste the same stuff about Hughes whenever you get the chance? It certainly seems like it.
  10. Maybe something like this

I've never really been a fan of the playoffs for the Premiership and after a long hard season the last thing a team finishing 3rd or 4th needs is to play 6 more games in 19 days to win promotion - that's just ridiculous. Another example of how the top flight takes care of themselves and how it's weighted towards tv again. Anyway as Satan says, one step at a time ..........................
  12. Agree with all of this. Hospitality is a luxury buy and to attract the non corporate guest it needs to look value for money. I hate these 1905 kick offs too as such a rush even at home.

the other factor that modern football (and fans) don't have in abundance that is needed here would be patience. We all want instant results (and I include myself in that) but to develop a real sustainable club model either requires a root and branch re-organisation of football within the entire country (Iceland style) or for an individual club to start building from the ground up and wait 10+ years to see the fruits of their labours which in the current climate would be financial suicide. Our current board get a lot of criticism and I believe that is entirely merited, but that's a different topic. However, where I do think they are on the right track is the idea/desire/plan to get the club back to being fiscally responsible and sustainable and to try and develop from within. Unfortunately, whilst the idea is good, I dont think we currently have anyone with the capability to put that plan into action efficiently, especially after recent departures (and those to come).

A tight schedule but Livingston did it last season on lower crowds and a smaller budget than us and are already safe in the Premiership. A tough ask but it can be done, especially if home fans return in decent numbers and good voice for the play offs.
  15. I can't help but think our hospitality is overpriced. I think this game was £130 a skull - or at least £108? That's a lot if you are taking guests when a lot of other things may represent better value. Deduct your ticket price and you are looking at £70 a skull circa overspend. The food, with respect, aint that good and whilst I get that we are helping the club, you still need to look at the cost. If I was entertaining a client and took them to say Cafe 1 and spent that per skull? All that aside, we have lost out on that for sure. I remain to be convinced by the new televised games and the impact on gate receipts versus the revenue to be distributed. Although I enjoyed the first 90 minutes of the Arabs v Stags game on Friday........
  16. I actually think we have a great team spirit at the moment and just like Watford did yesterday the players desire and support from the fans can take us through.
  17. I find this quite interesting, great form from us but 4 points from 18 for Ayr? Wow!
  18. "There are a minority of our fans who think John Hughes was a failure at our club. As far as I am concerned there should be a statue of the man outside our stadium" Charlie Christie Sportsound 7th February 2019.

Well how sodding convenient. First leg is on the day of one of my exams. FECK
  20. Can hardly believe that Nick Walsh was the ref in the Rangers game today! What does that say about these “blue suits” who are supposed to envigilate the referees and their performance at each game.
  21. I wonder who gave a young player a start in the game who is now starring for one of the big Glasgow teams
