  1. I'm not sure exactly what folk expect Robbo to accomplish. His first season back was a write-off because he inherited an absolute clusterf*** of a club and its remarkable that we came so close to a playoff spot. Last season we finished third, behind two teams who had enormous budgets in comparison to us. And this season we finished second, behind one team with an enormous budget (United) and ahead of another (Dundee). He's also managed to turn Chalmers, Donaldson, McCart, Rooney and White (and possibly Walsh and Trafford) into Premiership players. Ig you'd said that when these guys signed for us you'd have been laughed out of town. He's doing all right, I think. Certainly I think that, were he to leave, we'd be far more likely to end up with someone inferior than someone superior.
  2. I think this story still has a bit to run ... maybe to UEFA and/or ICAS especially after the ruling in France. It may come to nothing in the end but if Hearts do end up in the championship alongside us, whilst seeking any legal means to stay in the Premiership it could force them to lose focus and maybe take a while to get going when things restart. We are notorious slow starters so if we manage to prepare properly and come out of the start gates quickly for once we could do well, especially if the season is indeed shortened to 27 games. Seems I was right about the story having more to run based on lightlamp2's link above. I wish Hearts all the success they can get from this. Not only because it would benefit ICT - and I would be lying if I said that didn't matter, it does - but also because it is the right thing to do. Hearts, Partick, Stranraer, Brora and Kelty are all victims here and no league body should ever seek to disadvantage its members like this when its aim is to foster the game for the good and benefit of ALL of its members. Here's hoping that Hearts are successful and in the process they take down Doncaster and all his useless cronies in the process.
  3. For the people critical of extending the manager's contract, just who do they think we could attract in the current circumstances would be better and as experienced? This element of stability is very welcome in such uncertain times.
  4. This vote shows what little ambition so many clubs have. The 14:10:10:10 set up would have meant that each season no less than 8 clubs would be playing in a higher division than will now be the case. Together with the fact that those who voted against the proposal voted for the forced relegation of other clubs, today's vote really shows Scottish football in a very bad light. No doubt those clubs who voted against the proposal will be justifying their position on the grounds of "now is not the time for reconstruction", "we need to focus on dealing with the financial crisis", "we need unity at this time". We could have had unity and we could have combined it with decency and ambition. But the truth is that these clubs have voted for some narrow and in some cases, misguided, notion of self interest and Scottish football will be the worse for it.

Brilliant again guys. All sounds very promising for the future of our club. Lots of seeds being sewn by the sounds of it so lets hope they can grow and not be poisoned by Covid19. Well done.
  6. I am sure JR would wear the scorn of Alan as a badge of honour.
  7. Aye and Alan Simpson off his back!
  8. Some players/managers just 'fit' a club. Robbo is one of those. Given the resources he has had (or more specifically not had) he has done remarkably well for our club in his management career and I hope to see him continue in that role for many years to come. You want to sanctify Yogi or Butcher - go ahead. Personally I wont try and tell you that you are wrong. Both had wonderful moments in charge of ICT and have a rightful place in our history. Getting us back to the Premiership, winning us the Scottish Cup - you cant take any of that away. However, also remember that both of these managers oversaw the greatest budgets in our club's history, one to bounce back to the Premiership and the other whilst we were in it. If you want a manager to make something out of nothing using a budget to match then Robbo is your man , and right here, right now, I would rather have him at the helm than any other manager in our history.
  9. No surprise. Hearts will shout very loudly but are very unlikely to go to court. In many ways. I welcome the clarity and at least we can now plan for a season in the Championship probably curtailed to 27 games. We are in a perilous financial situation but so is every other club in the division. There is no reason why we can't compete and gain promotion on the pitch rather than through the boardroom or courtroom.
  10. Reconstruction is over. only 16 clubs voted in favour which is much worse than i thought. It means plenty of league 1 & 2 clubs would have voted against a 10 team league for themselves and instead will now remain with.... a 10 team league. Absolute madness. Lets hope Hearts go legal now. Will gladly watch some of these clubs suffer.
  11. What you on about "overrating him" mans gotten us to 3 Scottish Cup Semis in the 5 years he's been with us, all of which were with a First Division/Championship side. As well as finishing in (what would be) the playoff spots in 4 of those 5 seasons. Including 2 (potentially 3) Challenge Cups.
  12. Robbo signs a two year extension. Didn't see that coming! https://twitter.com/ICTFC/status/1272438949718433792?s=19
  13. Basically shows that most clubs in Scottish Football are greedy, selfish bastarts and would rather further line their pockets than help others who's sides could be jeopardized by relegation. Reconstruction keeps it fair for everyone involved, and it's better than nothing at all...
  14. Yes and we all know what Roy Macgregor is really like!
  15. How much money were lower league clubs projected to lose from the proposed 10 team league structure versus the current structure of 10 team leagues? How much extra money do clubs now have thanks to the generosity of a hearts backing philanthropist?
  16. Wonder if James Anderson regrets his hand-out to the clubs now. He should have kept it for his club, Hearts.
  17. Haha plenty fans fancying a change! I'll be the scape goat for our humpings at Arbroath and Hibs now lol
  18. Some clubs may indeed feel pressure to cave in and change their minds as a result of the threat. However, given that only 16 clubs out of 42 were in favour this morning and that 75% of clubs need to be in favour including 11 out of 12 Premiership clubs, I don't see enough of them changing their stance to carry the day.
  19. Yes, good luck to Hearts, and if we benefit from it, so much the better.
  20. https://www.heartsfc.co.uk/news/article/club-statement-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 Confirmation that Hearts are perusing legal action. Good news. Hopefully make those clubs squirm if it affects cash flow.
  21. Absolutely. Although will be much harder now with Hearts in the league. I predict a runaway leader like we had with united this season unfortunately. But maybe we can get to work on some signings now.
  22. And here https://ictfc.com/john-robertson-extends-contract-until-2022-23 Brilliant news. Robbo is a great fit for our club.
  23. Our starting XI as it stands is probably Ridgers, McKay, Toshney, McHattie, Harper, Vincent, Welsh, Storey, Keatings, Doran, Todorov. Obviously there's plenty of room for improvement there, particularly in defence. But I reckon that puts us in far better shape than any other Championship side bar Hearts and Dundee at this point. Scot Gardiner's interview on The Wyness Shuffle was pretty bullish, given the circumstances. He pointed out that getting seasoned pros in their late 20s up to the Highlands was tough and so we're more likely to be targeting youngsters with potential (like Walsh and Rooney two years ago), or players from the English non-leagues like David Carson. But it does sound like we have some irons in the fire...and like our budget hasn't been cut too drastically. Robbo was very positive about Curry when he left and I can understand why. You can't teach that sort of pace. Curry's spell here was dogged by injury and he never got a run of games. Like Storey, he's probably also better as a striker than a winger. I wouldn't be surprised if we went for him again. Frank Ross has basically been injured for 2 years and would be awfully high-risk. If we were to take a gamble on a player coming back from long-term injury, I'd try for Calvin Miller of Celtic. Other youngsters I'd like us to have a punt at signing: Adam Frizzell - little winger released by Kilmarnock who shone on loan in League One Kevin O'Hara - has left Alloa to try and get a full-time contract. Was sensational last season Anton Dowds - has scored a lot of goals for East Fife and is trying to find a full-time team Dario Zanatta - wasn't that great for Partick last season but was amazing for Alloa the year before I expect we'll end up signing lots of players we've never heard of...but that's worked for the club plenty of times in the last decade or so...
  24. fact of life guys we can only build what we can afford to build so let's not get ahead of ourselves

I make about 6 games a season but support my team by paying every year. I pay three times as much per game. This calum from moray feels more of a fan for that reason.
  26. Look at who you're responding to... Regardless, your last sentence sums it up perfectly.

Why should clubs cut there cloth and lose out on much needed money to save Hearts, Partick and Stranraer from relegation? The majority of clubs voted to end the league on current points. Null and void was more harmful and finishing the league was not an option. What else could of been done. How can anyone think that Hearts taking legal action is a good thing? Hearts have very little success off winning in court anyway it seems. The EFL have followed suit and completed their leagues the same way the SPFL did. Clubs can now sort there budgets out and start preparing for the season ahead when and if it starts. End off!
