  1. That's our level...3000 home, 300 (sounds like 3000) away. It won't change. I'm assuming our business model is based on the home figure (STs and gate) plus a few cup gates. In which case, £ for £, I'd say we we had a good case for being the best run, most successful Scottish Professional Football Club in quite some time... And we play good football. Enjoy the ride!

  2. Let us all listen to the evidence before condemning the lad. From my experience there is hardly a pro or semi pro in the land that does not have a flutter on the fixed odds footie despite a clear FIFA ban on not betting on any match world-wide. An ex team mate of mine lost the Highland League for blatantly betting on a result. Lets hear the evidence against Blackie is before sending to the gallows.

  4. What a difference this season, the forum has never been as happy as this since I first started reading it. Steel, strength and style yes and what does the second letter of each word suggest Togetherness it is all there and everyone is noticing. Am I right in thinking too that there have been a record number of recruits to this forum this season ? each time I sign in I seem to see new names appearing. Just goes to show success breeds success. Long may it continue on and off the field! New theme song ''Happy days are here again''

  5. Im loving the positive vibes around the place, both on this site and indeed on match days, ive never experienced anything like it in my time as fan of the club, no question about it that the ICT ride is as fun as its ever been. I agree that attendances are a tad disappointing and i hope it dosent bring the players down because with the way they are playing they cant do much more to get people through the gates, for those that do not attend games regularly i urge you to start doing so, the way we are playing just now is a sight to behold. You are definitely missing out.

  7. Never really liked him. Glad we're in a position now where he is not missed from a footballing point of view. If he is shady, I hope he gets his just deserts in the fullness of time.

  9. Yup, it is nice to be able to talk about the positive stuff and this start to the season has to have been one of the most positive ever ... !!! I am sure we will have our moments as the season progresses, and the naysayers will once again emerge, perhaps with good reason if things do go pear shaped, but for now the boys seem to be brimming with confidence, the boss is on a mission and all is good .... which is what makes the crowd thing all the more noticeable. I am sure there are a multitude of reasons for lower attendances. cost, recession, people who move away to uni or to other cities with jobs etc, some just grow up and/or have other priorities that go higher in the list .... I dont think there is one factor that causes this decline, and its different for all. I am glad you think the forum is capable of increasing the number of bums on seats, but personally I doubt it ... we are an avenue for (some) ICT fans to discuss all things ICT and other topics too, but our influence in terms of increasing the crowd is negligible to say the least .... I can only relate what I experienced last time I was home. My season ticket for a number of years was right above the tunnel in the main stand. Over the years most of the folk stayed the same in that area and we tried to get things going (we even got some parts of the stand singing on a semi-regular basis !!). We were allowed a fair bit of latitude and had a few good old ding-dongs with opposing managers or subs etc, and the "catchphrase humour" you mention that came from a few of us was at times 'quality' stuff ! This was of course primarily in the pre-SPL days !!! ..... wonder how many folk remember Yogi Hughes being chased up the touchline by Frank Connor waving his stick after we were winding Yogi up and FC caught him taking the piss? or the slagging that Ian McCall would take every time he came to the TCS? On my last trip home I sat in the same area for an SPL game and it was a morgue. Speaking to a few people afterwards, the reasoning given was that those same worthies had been warned off by stewards and/or club officials and told they would lose season tickets or be ejected/arrested if they stood, chanted, swore at opposition staff etc .... banter was well and truly gone. It was a "sit-down-shut-up" situation. Part of this was down to who was calling the matchday shots for the club at the time (no longer there), and the rest was because of how he was reacting to or interpreting all the various rules/regulations laid down by the SPL ... being in the big boy league comes with responsibilities and the mantra seemed to be "better safe than sorry" !!! If I had been a neutral I would not have come back - that was not an entertaining day despite the lads winning on the park ! To me, football is a means of releasing the tension and frustration of a working week and being treated this way was increasing that tension, not giving it an outlet. Obviously I don't experience it first hand any more, but it does seem to be changing for the better ... We can frequently hear what I assume are the young lads singing coming across on the audio feeds, and we see less threads on here about stewarding issues so I assume they are behaving and the stewards leave them alone (for the most part) ... if we can take it to the next level and make the rest of the day out enjoyable then maybe things will improve .... how we do that I do not know ...

  10. How to get more people watching this team is something I scratch my head about on a daily basis. The club are pretty good in terms of pricing, access, taking supporters points on board and trying to get more kids along on the grounds that they are tomorrows paying customers. Then I see stats that suggest that the picture is pretty stable (by and large) over a number of years and you begin to think that maybe that's just the crowds that we will get. I also think that there's a growing disconnect between people and sport at a local level. They don't play, they don't contribute, they don't support. Participation seems to range from playing FIFA or football manager and then graduating on to buying a sky subscription, and that's it. How local clubs compete against the draw of watching Barcelona or Bayern or PSG or Man Utd on the telly I don't know. Factor in a tightening of economic belts and watching televised football as well as going to games becomes the territory of the affluent. It's not the "working man's game" it used to be and it suffers for that. All that everyone connected can do is to keep turning up, keep shouting our name from the rooftops and supporting whatever initiatives the club comes up with - especially this year. Try and drag one of your mates along, bring the kids. I'm of the opinion that this might be the best ICT side we'll ever have, who have a real chance of finishing even higher than last year. Ok, it could all go pete tong but I have a feeling that it won't. I just wish there were more people there to see it.

  11. Looks like I got this all wrong, all replies are verging on the negative side Lol. What I am saying is that on this forum things have been looking so much more positive. Maybe we are only three games into the league but wonderful results to date and the team and management should be proud of that. So should we be! I doubt anyone is clever enough to guage all the reasons for non attendance at Tulloch Stadium and come up with the solutions for that but at least we are getting increases in the numbers on the forum and that alone may lead to increase at the ground, even if it is only fractional. Scotty you repeat it here, it is so perplexing given all these positives you mention why the crowds are staying away. It struck me when I first returned to the Highlands just how apathetic a huge percentage of the locals were towards todays football and especially ICT. Going to the ground even the home support that were there were quiet or critical about what was happening on the pitch. There was no real noise backing for our club, just shouts of derision at any mistakes that were made by our own players. When we scored they got a polite clapping in way of applause. My God how things had changed from the old days. Gone were the shouts of encouragement, gone were the local worthies that would chip in with their catchphrase humour. Gone were the fans hoarse with their roars of laughter at the other teams expense. Crowd self entertainment had vanished. from the scene, will it ever return? who knows. Where have all the 'characters' gone ? The IHE's and Scarlets of old with their fun quips, are they all in their armchairs now? Back to the Positive We have enjoyed a great start, keep on lauding what is happening and maybe just maybe people will get the message and turn out for the Team.

  13. All the doom & gloom merchants are just hiding, waiting for it to all go wrong for the 'happy clappers' - if after we loose a game this year or get knocked out of a cup, even fail to make Europe 2 years running - its will all be about sack the management lol

  14. The is a press release just in from Dingwall explaining County's new long term strategy. It reads 'Derek Adams confirms that his confidence was sky high when a reporter caught up with the Ross County convoy at Ballinluig on the way to their opening day jolly in Glasgow 'It's the opening day of the season, the flag gets unfurled for the champions, and we provide a guard of honour for them.'' However, he admits that after the next game against Partick he confirmed that the game was the lowest in his career in Dingwall. 'Our groundsman cut the grass too low and we could still see the sand!' He has now also confirmed he did indicate last week (quite wrongly as it turned out) that 'Richie Brittain can handle the heat' and then after the crushing defeat after some fisticuffs in the dressing room 'Derek Adams challenges senior players to stop leaking goals.' Derek adds 'After three defeats in a row for the mighty Staggies after a great pre-season jolly to Holland at the millionaire chairman's expense, I said 'Dad, what do I do next?' as I held back the tears. Dad said 'Son, why not play a few games where the grass is always greener.'

  19. This has to be the best ICT team I've seen at TCS in all my years of following the club. It was very hard to select PotY candidates from yesterdays display. Everyone played a blinder and put in equal workrates. Foran played some of his best ever football for us. Dave the Rave and G. Shinnie spent more time in the opposition half than in defending their own but were still available to defend when called upon. Warren and Meekings were solid at the back. Doran ran his socks off but sometimes he tries too hard and loses out where a quicker pass or even shot on goal may have been the better option. Vincent and Ross seemed to be everywhere. Draper was solid in the middle and McKay was where he had to be every time. And he scored again. Brill had very little to do other than vocally control the play. The substitutes too did their bit to good effect and didnt upset the gameplan. We played the ball for full game. No aimless punts. And we stopped Motherwell from playing. All in all an excellent team display by one and all.

  20. I have a strong interest in the Old Firm. I am strongly interested in them both getting their own way at last and being allowed to play on a 'bigger stage' that way we could have a truly competitive top division where half a dozen or more teams could start the season with realistic title ambitions and where grounds would be largely free of poisonous sectarian bile.

  21. Foran MotM by a mile, he was everywhere. Crowd announced as 250 away fans which means a paltry 2700 home fans bothered their erses going to watch entertaining football. What more do they want. I thought we bossed the game, and Well had to chase it after the break. Should have won by a far greater margin but 2-0 is perfectly acceptable

  22. Sometimes people say " the game was of two halves". I felt yesterday it could have been termed, a game of one half. The first half was as good as it gets, fine defending , lovely passing, two well worked goals. The second half wind affected, was by the first half's standard very ordinary, passes going amiss , ICT on the back foot , poor shooting by both teams, especially Motherwell. I think we should be proud of the first half, proud of the solid defence, and be rather glad that Motherwell left their shooting boots on the coach. Our goalkeeper Brill was very animated suggesting to some of his team mates to get stuck in. Whether it is just part of his personality, or he was generally concerned I don't know. It is nice however to see a player showing such passion who is new to the team.

  23. Inverness Brush Well Aside Inverness kept their excellent start to the season going after brushing Motherwell aside with some sweeping moves in a scintillating first half that gave them a cushion to defend in a more even second forty-five. Two superb goals from the head of captain Richie Foran and the foot of Billy McKay made it three out of three to maintain our 100% record and another clean sheet was an added bonus in a highly entertaining match. A blustery day saw Motherwell visit Inverness with a much changed squad from the one that ripped us apart in the early games last year. Gone were Jamie Murphy, Michael Higdon, Henrik Ojamaa, Chris Humphrey, Nicky Law, and keeper Darren Randolph. James McFadden remains, but new signings Iain Vigurs and Paul Lawson will need to show more, although Henri Anier looks a useful addition and John Sutton should fill the Higdon shaped hole up front for the Steelmen. As expected, Inverness were unchanged from last week with Dean Brill once more in the nets and James Vincent pulling the strings. Agdestein, Polworth and Williams would come off the bench in the latter stages as Butcher freshened tired legs up and a disappointing crowd of just over 3,000 settled in their seats ready for action, some 250 of them in the away end. It was the home fans who were given the opportunity to get off their bums first and with only four minutes on the clock, the brisk Inverness attackers scored the opener, and what a goal it was. Motherwell boss McCall might well be disappointed with his defence, but when Graeme Shinnie's curling free kick swung into the box, Foran bulleted a diving header across the keeper and into the net from around twelve yards. Brilliant start to the game for Inverness and just what the home fans needed to erase last seasons drubbing from the memory banks. Inverness turned the screw and Vincent had a shot charged down with the goal at his mercy and the lively McKay likewise, McManus and Hutchinson doing their utmost with last ditch blocks. However, it was one way traffic and the dazzling attacking display from the home side was a joy to behold. With Inverness very much on the front foot, a brilliant team goal ended the scoring, but not the entertainment. Doran and Raven combined beautifully to tee up Billy McKay who finished superbly by stroking the ball into the bottom corner from fifteen yards. McKay was causing the big Well defence all sorts of problems with his darting runs and clever flicks and one such move saw him set up an opportunity for Vincent who spectacularly volleyed narrowly wide of the mark. Inverness were rampant now and Motherwell worked hard to contain the eager home side and but for some timely interventions we could have been looking at a cricket score but the referee intervened and blew for half time for McCall to get to work over the interval. Half Time 2-0 McCall rang the changes after the break and introduced Carswell and the strapping Henri Anier who looks a decent player and it was the latter who was denied by a crucial Raven block as he was about to pull the trigger on a McFadden cross. The game was more even now and Inverness had a lucky escape as Hutchinson headed over after Brill missed a cross from the Well left. Another scare soon after when Vigurs crumbled in the box as Raven slid in but Brines was not interested. Shame. Anier almost scored a consolation with five minutes left but he hammered a close range effort just over the corner of the bar, and that was the closest Motherwell came to breeching the Inverness rearguard. But, it was not all about Motherwell and Foran and McKay passed up glorious chances to extend the lead as the Steelmen chased the game. Aaron Doran forced Hollis into making a great save to deny the Irishman as he sprinted into the box, but his high angled drive was pushed away by the keeper. Full-Time 2-0 Motherwell had run out of ideas before the end and Inverness held on for a well deserved win to keep them at the right end of the table. Make no bones about it, this was an excellent performance from Inverness who stroked the ball around confidently and scored a couple of cracking goals. I expect Celtic will offer a much stiffer test next week, but lets just wallow in the glory of our opening three games for now. tm4tj MotM:- Well, I concurred with the sponsors who had Richie Foran as their pick. He scored a fabulous goal and was dictating the flow of the game. In the second half when Well pushed for a foothold, he was at the heart of the defence mopping up everything, great captains performance from him. Mckay and Doran caused all sorts of problems for Motherwell and in the second half Warren got better and better as the game wore on. Overall just a great team performance Date: 17.08.2013 Venue: Caledonian Stadium Attendance: 3031 Referee: Iain Brines Inverness CT: 2 Lineup: Brill, Raven, Warren, Meekings, Shinnie, Foran, Draper, Ross, Doran (Williams 90), Vincent (Polworth 82), McKay (Agdestein 84) Subs (not used): Esson, Devine, Greenhalgh, Pepper Scorers: Foran (4), McKay (36) Booked: Shinnie (43), Meekings (54) Sent Off: none Motherwell: 0 Lineup: Hollis, Hammell, Ramsden, Hutchinson, McManus, McFadden (Francis-Angol 66), Lawson (Carswell 46), Sutton, Vigurs, Lasley, McHugh (Anier 46) Subs (not used): Nielsen, Erwin, Kerr, Moore Scorers: none Booked: Vigurs (80) Sent Off: none

    • Inverness CT 3-1 Morton - Report
It was a lovely evening for a game of football, what could possibly go wrong? Well, what did go wrong was Queen's Park beat an understrength Airdrie 2-0 at Hampden, therefore despite beating Morton 3-1, Inverness head for the play-offs. Morgan Boyes opened the scoring with a thumping volley after half an hour. Kirk Broadfoot benefited from slack defending to level before the break then proceeded to earn the wrath of the home support with an embarrassing celebration in front of the North Stand. Cammy Harper relieved Billy Mckay of penalty kick duties and duly slotted home from the spot ten minutes after the break. The scoring was completed just after the hour when Sean McAllister drilled home into the bottom corner. Robbie Muirhead had been sent off for simulation then taking a wee fit to himself and was promptly sent off after 58 minutes just after Harper had knocked in his penalty kick, probably aggrieved that he never earned a spot kick for his dramatic dive.

Well, where do you start. It was clear from the begining of the season that something was wrong. Poor signings, dismal performances in the League Cup followed by an abysmal start to the League campaign saw Billy Dodds removed from his position after winning one point in the first six Championship fixtures and replaced by a man with no track record as a manager. A sort of publicity stunt if you like. After the initial new manager bounce wore off, we found ourselves little better off with Big Dunc than we were with wee Billy. We did claw ourselves up to the coat tails of others but the most damning part of our season has been our inability to score goals, especially at home. Only already relegated Arbroath are worse than us. Our team is now full of mercenaries, loan players with no affiliation to our Highland pedigree and many fans have tagged us as being the worst squad ever in our short history. Where are the Golabeck's, Tokeley's, Wilson's..... Much of this can be attributed to our lack of financial nous in the boardroom, failed ventures and now the begging bowls are being put in place to save our club. Having drawn at Dunfermline last week thanks to Aribim Pepple's first goal for the club combined with Billy Mckay's penalty miss, it's now out of our own hands. LAST SIX: D L  W W L  D

    • Dunfermline 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Out of our hands now: It ended in disappointment for the 319 visiting fans with news that Queens Park had hammered Arbroath 0-5. To rub salt into the wounds, Sheridan and Welsh were amongst the scorers. It's out of our hands now, but it's a must win next Friday and hope Queens Park falter.  Inverness play Morton and Queens play Airdrie. A draw might be enough, but it's a long shot.

I'm not convinced that Billy Mckay was the right man to be taking that penalty, his second failure from the spot in successive games against the Pars.

    • Dunfermline Ath -V- Inverness CT - Preview
Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.
