  1. Grateful thanks to everyone who spared considerably more than an hour today. Great fun, great craic and you all helped raise funds for Caley Jags Together. Even spotted a couple of CTO's finest as well as Bannerman on a bike. Thanks again all.

  2. Great to see so many volunteers at the CJT water station. Couldn‘t have run that today without yerself and other volunteers help. Much appreciated. This is what it‘s all about. Caley Thistle contributing to the community with such events. Makes the whole point of having a professional football team in Inverness even more worth while. Togetherness :)

  3. Ross County and Brora Rangers sounds like a good one. Between them they have about as many ICT players as we have!

  4. Nets-like. Crowd- Like. Now that they have seen what they have been missing, hopefully the fans will continue to come to the park and the crowd figures will grow. That way the club will grow.

  5. Scored 3 but yet again should have scored about 9. Was eager to see what sort of a response we would get from the Aberdeen game and the boys stepped up when it mattered. Lots of Hibs keepers seem to gift ICT players goals. Malkowksi, Ma Kalamby, Andy McNeil and Simon Brown have all done at TCS in previous encounters and Ben Williams has just added himself to that list. Was nice to see Foran get another goal, seems to get himself into good areas despite his deep role in midfield. Billy scored his 2, the 2nd an absolute peach. Could have had a hat trick yet again today. Was a pity to see Vincent get injured. Thought Terry would go like for like with Polworth but Greenhalgh did not disappoint. Very promising signs in what I saw today. Quick, skillful and chases everything down, that header he made for Foran's goal seemed a complete lost cause and awkward to execute. Fair play to him. Hope Vincent's injury is not too serious but Greenhalgh has certainly staked his claim for a place in the side. Good crowd today and another atmosphere that Im sure left a great impression on the players and indeed big Terry. Happy to see us get back to winning ways and occupy top spot (hope the Celts enjoyed their hour spent above us ).

  7. This. I'd like to see Polworth and Christie get some game time too. Local players, and all that. More to the point, skillful young players with great potential.

  10. Cruise Control Inverness went back to the top of the league after Celtic briefly took over by virtue of winning the early kick-off at Kilmarnock by 5-2. By ten to five Inverness had restored themselves ahead of Celtic after cruising effortlessly past a surprisingly subdued Hibernian with a scoreline that flattered Hibs somewhat. A Billy McKay double and a Richie Foran strike were the counters, but in all honesty Hibs could have had no complaint if that score had been doubled but it ended 3-0 to the League leaders. A rather tepid first half gave way to a more entertaining second half as Inverness opened the throttle out and tore into Hibs with a bit more guile, the introduction of Ben Greenhalgh injecting some much needed pace and trickery to the front line in a game that was dying on it's feet. Inverness started with the same eleven that went to Pittodrie as our mysterious injured trio were revealed as Foran, Doran and Warren, but all three took their place in the starting line up. Hibs had been in fine scoring form prior to this game and were looking to better their attempts at winning games in the North, but as it turned out, they had nothing to offer and many misplaced passes and schoolboy errors littered their play throughout the ninety minutes. A sizeable away support were looking for their side to continue their five game unbeaten run but with defending like that it was never going to happen. The biggest certainty was that Billy McKay would get on the score sheet and he duly obliged after just eleven minutes, a terrible mix up in the Hibs box between Nelson and keeper Williams gifting Billy a simple tap in for the opener. Vincent had released Shinnie down the left, his cross took a slight deflection, but when Nelson stepped out of the way, the ball bounced off a startled Williams to the feet of McKay who bounced the ball into the empty net. Comedy defending, McKay not interested in that though, 1-0 to the homesters. McKay should have made it two six minutes later. Once more Vincent was the supplier as he knocked a ball into McKay as he sprinted towards the box. Billy took it brilliantly on the run, but he screwed his shot wide from the angle with only the keeper to beat. Willie Collum was doing his best to ruin the spectacle stopping the game at every opportunity and it had the desired effect as the ball was pinged back and fore and in and out of play. The pitch could not be blamed for the poor control, especially from the Hibees, but neither side dominated the next spell of the now untidy game. Paul Heffernan benefited from a long ball out of defence headed forward by Collins but he slammed his shot well wide, justice seemingly done as he appeared to be a yard offside, the watching officials unable to read the rules. Big Ross Draper slashed at a volley at the other end, but was nowhere near finding the target as both teams struggled to find any fluency; thanks Mr Collum. James Vincent was booked after half an hour, possibly exacting some revenge for an earlier Hibernian misdemeanour as he rashly upended Ryan McGivern, and this was the pattern for the rest of the half as the game bordered on tedium, with Inverness always one step ahead of a struggling Edinburgh side. Inverness were forced into a change as Vincent took a knock and he was removed for his own safety as much as injury, Ben Greenhalgh replacing him, and he would stake a claim for a regular berth with some old fashioned wing play. Half Time 1-0 The second half saw a vast improvement in the game as the home side upped the tempo and Hibs simply went into reverse, but not before Draper made a timely intervention in the box to slow down a sporadic Hibs attack, Tom Taiwo lashing the loose ball high, wide and not very handsome. Just on the hour mark, Inverness doubled their lead with a superb strike from captain fantastic Richie Foran. Doran sprited clear on the right and his deep cross was brilliantly kept alive be Greenhalgh, who headed back from the goal line and onto the top of the bar acrobatically. The headed clearance eventually fell to Foran after Nick Ross cleverly let it run through him, and Foran blasted the ball high past a diving Williams for number two from sixteen yards. The Inverness machine was purring beautifully now and David Raven, not normally noted for his goal scoring exploits almost added a third goal. Fortunately for Raven, Dean Brill acrobatically kept out his clearance header much to the full backs relief. The goal of the game came two minutes later, a Draper headed clearance found Billy McKay running towards the Hibernian box. With plenty to do, McKay turned the defender and lashed a fabulous strike behind Williams from twenty-two yards out; what a belter, and Billy dented claims that he is only a penalty box striker. Greenhalgh arrowed a useful ball into the box and McKay got his head to it, the keeper stopping it low down at his near post. Inverness were now cruising and it was a case of how many. The afore mentioned goal machine David Raven almost got a goal at the right end this time, his long swinging cross landing on Williams' crossbar. Greenhalgh and Doran were by now tormentors in chief and Hibs were being torn a new one as Inverness turned the screw. Doran was unfortunate not to score as Ben jinked his way down the left and fizzed a great cut back across the box, Dorans low strike was incredibly turned away by Hanlon going the wrong way, but sticking out his big toe to divert the ball for a corner, some clearance. Collins made Dean Brill work with a late header low down to Brills' left, but he was in no mood to concede and dived down to keep the ball out and deny Hibernian a consolation counter. Full Time 3-0, going on 6. A game that saw Inverness return to the top after a superb second half display and the introduction of Greenhalgh certainly warmed the fans up after a miserable first forty-five. Another three points and another clean sheet as the visitors failed to trouble the scorers and one strange substitution. It appears that having more than one Ross in the side can be a tad confusing. With Ross Draper about to be summoned, Nick Ross made his way to the touchline to get some instructions, but ended up on the bench after thinking the name Ross was his, when in fact it belonged to Ross Draper. Confused.Com. Anyway, it mattered not as we won convincingly in the end. Nick did receive a booking at one stage for simulation. In all honesty, I don't think that is part of his game, but Collum thought otherwise and carded him, just another way of showing his incompetence. The Long Man got on the park for a few minutes, but only at half-time for a chat with Ryan Esson. Aye Owain, it's not always a good idea to go to a bigger club. tm4tj MotM is not always easy to pick and it's not always about who scores lots of goals. However, a quality display by Billy McKay all over the park ensures that he gets my vote, and his second goal was a peach. Richie Foran ran him close with another all round display and a good goal to boot. The defence was rarely troubled and no need for any of them to look for plaudits, but once again as a unit they were brilliant. Ross Draper had a solid game in midfield and the introduction of Ben Greenhalgh gave us a glimpse of things to come. Aaron Doran was strangely subdued in the first half, but certainly woke up in the second and was unlucky not to score. I suppose the only mystery remaining is will McKay get any assistance up front from big Toby, but on this form he doesn't need it! All in all, a good team performance and back on top for now, just how we like it; pleasing. 12. Luckily didn't affect result .Thought it was a strange decision as Nick was having a great game. Don't think Ive ever seen Terry so angry ..he really has to watch his blood pressure. An easy mistake but Im sure we won't see the same again . Brilliant result after last weeks disappointment pleased to see the good passing game back .

  13. After Celtic won 5-2 to take a commanding lead at the top of the league, I rate yesterday's result one of the best in our history. Hibs were in a fine run of form, their front two having scored in all recent games, they had lost the monkey of not winning at the Caley Stadium last year, and were able to play on a top class pitch. ICT deserve a lot of credit for moving on from the Aberdeen defeat, coping with a tough cup tie, and then knowing Celtic had regained top spot so only a 3 goal victory would regain them top spot. Hard work and years of disappointments achieved that result. Having seen Jonny Hayes try and do a Gordon Strachan 'messed up' free kick routine last week, it was actually quite funny seeing Nick hooked yesterday. Steve Marcella was actually mortified. I wonder if Terry apologised especially after this: '' Butcher said: “I was only at Brentford about five minutes and Steve phoned up. I didn’t know him at all but I spoke to one or two people and they said, ‘Take him – he’s an excellent goalkeeper coach and has a great eye for a player as well’. “He travels a lot of miles, he’s an excellent coach and also an excellent scout – and a good friend as well. There have been one or two we haven’t got right but I wouldn’t smack him for being wrong – he’s a big guy and would probably batter me!'' It is always dangerous to receive praise in life!!! Terry probably said to him yesterday ''Hook Ross'' so that is exactly what he did. Terry meant Ross.....Draper so hopefully it ended in smiles for Steve.

  14. What we've got to do now is take the way we played yesterday and the other home games this season, and play like that away from home as well. It worked against Dundee United, but lately we've gone back to lumping it up the park in the away matches. We should be keeping the same mentality that we have at home for all games no-matter where they are IMO. They are sweet! Am I imagining it (quite possible) or did we have similar nets in the past at some point? Edit- Spellin' Correct. About a decade ago we had ICTFC woven into the white goal nets IIRC.

  15. Thanks Doch4 great to see the boys playing so well. Two of the goals did have a bit of luck but then we were unlucky not to score a few more so what goes around comes around. From what I could see in the highlights we were well worth our win.Good to hear of some prodigals returning.Welcome back!

Well, where do you start. It was clear from the begining of the season that something was wrong. Poor signings, dismal performances in the League Cup followed by an abysmal start to the League campaign saw Billy Dodds removed from his position after winning one point in the first six Championship fixtures and replaced by a man with no track record as a manager. A sort of publicity stunt if you like. After the initial new manager bounce wore off, we found ourselves little better off with Big Dunc than we were with wee Billy. We did claw ourselves up to the coat tails of others but the most damning part of our season has been our inability to score goals, especially at home. Only already relegated Arbroath are worse than us. Our team is now full of mercenaries, loan players with no affiliation to our Highland pedigree and many fans have tagged us as being the worst squad ever in our short history. Where are the Golabeck's, Tokeley's, Wilson's..... Much of this can be attributed to our lack of financial nous in the boardroom, failed ventures and now the begging bowls are being put in place to save our club. Having drawn at Dunfermline last week thanks to Aribim Pepple's first goal for the club combined with Billy Mckay's penalty miss, it's now out of our own hands. LAST SIX: D L  W W L  D

    • Dunfermline 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Out of our hands now: It ended in disappointment for the 319 visiting fans with news that Queens Park had hammered Arbroath 0-5. To rub salt into the wounds, Sheridan and Welsh were amongst the scorers. It's out of our hands now, but it's a must win next Friday and hope Queens Park falter.  Inverness play Morton and Queens play Airdrie. A draw might be enough, but it's a long shot.

I'm not convinced that Billy Mckay was the right man to be taking that penalty, his second failure from the spot in successive games against the Pars.

    • Dunfermline Ath -V- Inverness CT - Preview
Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

    • Inverness CT -V- Raith Rovers - Preview
The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!
