  1. Unexpectedly busy morning for the best media team in Scotland after It was revealed that Celtic consider the club to be the fount of all knowledge. #askict

  2. Me too. Wouldn't miss it, although I am not "flavour of the month" with nearest and dearest (ie niece and her family) for missing her Boxing Day lunch. Tough for them! ICT awaydays more important than a vegetarian lunch.

  3. And that team is currently above everyone but Celtic (inevitably) and Dundee United (via goal difference). That's a ridiculous comment to pull out one bad result in a good season for Aberdeen. Says more about you* than it does about the manager. *as does the spelling of 'cally' - I find that suspicious. There's something curious about your posts that tells me you have an agenda over and above simple success for ICT.

  4. I have to laugh at CB's post where he said; "In particular as a Highlander, I have no desire at all to have my entire existence governed by the central belt." And yet he is happy to be governed by hundreds of MP's and Lords in Westminster who couldn't care less about the existence of us Scots!

  5. Thanks. I have to admit that I was quite surprised to see us rank so high, especially on the UK Index where we out performed clubs with whole teams of people who are employed solely to manage their social media and budgets that would dwarf our entire club turnover....before you take account of their other media & marketing personnel & budgets. Would also like to say that whilst I might be the man on the front line of the Social Media accounts, if it wasn't for Andy Johnstone & Don Johnstone* (videographers), Peter Paul (Photographer), Jack Davis & Davie Balfour (Previews/Reports/Interviews etc) and Iain Auld (Interviews) then we wouldn't be able to provide the content that fans enjoy, talk about & share. The challenge now is to maintain/improve our position. You can be sure everyone else will now be chasing us, so we have to continue to up our game!!!

  6. Shambolic 45 Unbreached in the last five games, the Inverness defence dished out more presents than Santa Clause at his Eastgate Grotto in a festive handout. Forget your gold, frankincense and myrrh, Inverness CT were handing out gifts hand over fist and the eleven wise men from the East took full advantage. Inverness were taught a harsh lesson in the first half as Aberdeen tore us apart at every opportunity in a somewhat uncharacteristic opening half where every time the Dons attacked they looked like causing problems. Two goals from former Inverness winger Barry Robson and one apiece from Peter Pawlett and Niall McGinn saw them apparently coasting into second place in the SPFL. A second half revival saw Billy McKay notch a predatory brace and a superb header from Graeme Shinnie all but snatch Inverness an unlikely point, however the Dons saw out the game courtesy of some well worked time wasting routines and take all three points East. A chilly winters day saw a crowd of around 4800 assemble to watch this late kick off in John Hughes first home game in charge of the Caley Jags. How he must have wished the half time whistle had sounded half an hour earlier. It was also Scotty's first game this season, all the way from Canada, maybe there's a lesson to be learnt there! A late change saw Danny Williams start in place of the sprightly Marley Watkins who had suffered a dead leg in training and his pace was badly missed in that first half. A bright start by the home side gave little indication of what was to come. Richie Foran dived to head a low effort just wide from a Tremarco free kick and Ross grazed the outside of a post after McKay set him up on the edge of the box. The Inverness pressure continued and Langfield did a bit of scrambling back to atone for his own poor clearance, Doran arrowing a thirty yard curling shot on target, but Langfield gathering well. It all changed just after twenty minutes into the game. A long high ball was missed by the heads of Vernon and Meekings. Unfortunately the ball hit the flailing arm of Josh and no doubt about it, a penalty borne out of nothing really. Barry Robson cracked the ball home, hit hard and low just out of the reach of a diving Brill to his right side. It got worse ten minutes later when Robson doubled his tally with a header would you believe it. A cross to the far post by Pawlett found Robson sandwiched between Tremarco and Warren, he was off balance and facing the opposite direction, but the ball still found the top corner. Not sure Robson knew much about it, but he enjoyed it anyway. And it got even worse. Pawlett fed Vernon who in turn picked out Pawlett as he sprinted into the box after a weak Nick Ross challenge on the half way line. Pawlett took it first time and he swept the ball home from twelve yards. Hint of offside by Vernon, but the final execution was clinical. The home defence was now in tatters, Gary Warren having a nightmare along with the rest of the side and huge gaps were allowing the Dons a safe passage into our penalty box. Niall McGinn took full advantage of more poor marking to run unchallenged for forty-five yards before drilling the ball home from the edge of the box. Lethal from Aberdeen; shambolic from Inverness, many punters tempted to go at half time. Half Time 0-4 Harsh words must have been spoken at the interval and a quick response was required. It came via Duracell Bunny, Billy McKay. He was prepared to roll up his sleeves and he gave the home side some belief when he latched onto a loose ball at the far post to prod home his first of the night. Nick Ross spurned a tremendous opportunity after McKay set him up with a header back across the box, but Nick, not noted for his striking ability lashed a volley straight at Langfield who gratefully parried the ball to safety. McKay would not be denied his second though as he showed tenacity to crash in an angled drive after rounding Langfield. Doran and Ross had combined with Billy who was running himself ragged; great goal, and game on. Could we do it? Draper headed one off the post and Raven cracked the same post with the rebound. Tremarco's corners were worrying the Dons defence. Gary Warren got one thing right tonight. He flighted a long ball into the box and Graeme Shinnie met it on the run from fifteen yards to send an unstoppable header into the top corner, Langfield rooted to the spot. Pick that one out. Ya beauty! Aberdeen meanwhile were reduced to sitting in and hitting on the break and Hayes could have done better with a late strike, but he rolled it gently into Brill's hands. We almost got the leveller our second half blitz deserved, but a melee in the Dons box from another corner just would not go over the line and Aberdeen survived to take all three points East. Full Time 3-4 The proverbial game of two halves. Battered in the first, we got off the canvas to narrowly lose on points, had it actually been a boxing match the ref would have called a halt after 45 minutes. Richie Foran looks as though he has damaged his shoulder and could miss the busy festive programme and David Raven came back into his most productive position at right back just after the break, Shinnie moving flanks, but further ahead of Tremarco after the re-shuffle, which seemed to suit our pursuit of goals in the second half. It was a damaging first half, one of the poorest I have witnessed, but we did show great character to have a go in the second half and but for that it could have been a miserable Xmas for the home fans. tm4tj MotM:- Has to be Mr perpetual motion, Billy McKay. He ran his little cotton socks off in the second half, where does he get the energy from? Sadly, Gary Warren and Josh Meekings were bossed in that first half by Scott Vernon and that was one of the reasons we were taken apart. But, we can rebuild as we showed in a spirited second half. This result has cost us a place or two in the league, but we still have that game in hand, and after the half time pep talk, all is not lost yet. Jury is still out on John Hughes and let's not go down the route of knee jerk reactions. He must have said something right at half time. Date: 21.12.2013 Venue: Caledonian Stadium Attendance: 4810 Referee: Steven McLean Inverness CT: 3 Lineup: Brill, Shinnie, Warren, Meekings, Tremarco, Williams, Draper, Foran (Raven 45), Doran, Ross (Agdestein 76), McKay Subs (not used): Esson, Devine, Greenhalgh, Polworth, Pepper Scorers: Mckay (47, 57), Shinnie (90) Booked: Draper (14), Williams (90) Sent Off: none Aberdeen: 4 Lineup: Langfield, Shaughnessy, Reynolds (Hayes 64), Jack, Hector, Anderson, McGinn, Flood, Vernon (Magennis 90+6), Robson, Pawlett Subs (not used): Weaver, Zola, Smith, Wylde, Low Scorers: Robson (pen22, 32), Pawlett (37), McGinn (44) Booked: Hayes (90) Sent Off: none

  9. There is a terrible amount of negative talk on here re Yogi wether he was your choice for Manager or not give the man a chance to see what he does and after a decent period of time then criticise if you must. In the meantime we should all be backing him 100%

  11. I didn't want Hughes but can't we wait for him to fail, rather than constant sniping before this has happened. After all, a number were expecting very poor things from Butcher but he proved them wrong. There's no changing that Yogi is the manager in the short-term at least. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt in the meantime.

  15. Sorry, not so brief, more like boxer shorts 1. Europe's largest arsenal of nuclear weapons is located 30 miles from Scotland's largest city. Under Independence these obscenities will be removed, saving money for a regular defence force similar to other nations as Scotland will not need to be part of the USA's big boys' club and will not be invading anybody. 2. Scotland is almost as large as England but has only a tenth of the population (for which 300 years of UK government must shoulder at least part of the blame). The policies of the UK government are aimed at solving the problems of the overheated south-east, where the bulk of the people live, so they concern themselves with matters such as controlling immigration or coping with congested roads and airspace which are irrelevant in Scottish terms, while ignoring industries such as fishing which are highly relevant. Scotland should be able to elect the government it chooses and not one chosen by another nation. 3. Scotland has abundant resources including forestry, food & drink, renewables, tourism, electronics, agriculture, shipbuilding, whisky (UK's largest export) plus oil and gas. I have visited many small, similar progressive European nations which make the UK appear backward at times, and have spoken to people there who find it incredible that we do not have the confidence to govern ourselves - although it is now established that the UK government lied to us in an attempt to diminish the demand for Independence. 4. It's 'normal'. Scotland needs to grow up, take responsibility and rid itself of its dependency culture: difficult when we are brainwashed into believing ourselves 'subsidy junkies' or 'whingeing jocks'. However we have come a long way since 30 years ago when we didn't really believe we could manage even a devolved parliament. 5. The UK is reported to be the world's 4th most unequal society. Scotland has a tradition of egalitarianism and the class structure found in England does not exist to the same extent. For instance, the concept of fee-paying schools is almost unknown in most areas of Scotland. The pinnacle of the class system is the royal family, and at a future date, an Independent Scotland could choose to become a republic. No House of Lords either.

  18. OK... here we go. * I would much prefer to benefit from the security and stability of being part of one of the world's leading nations than turn the clock back 300 years to become a small, one trick pony of questionable viability, whose principal claimed asset is going to run out sooner rather than later. Britain has been incredibly successful since it was formed in 1707/1801 and I would want to remain part of that. Small nations have shown themselves to be uncomfortably vulnerable during hard economic times. That is a risk I simply don't want to take for what i see as no benefit. * I am perfectly happy as I am so have no desire to change - as, for instance, are the people of two other major nations Germany and Italy, which underwent unification in the second half of the 19th century, much later than Britain did. The yessers keep quoting the Czech Republic and Slovakia but fail to acknowledge that Czechoslovakia was merely a contrived political expedient at the end of WW1. * In common with many Scots I have a strong feeling of British indentity which I do not want to lose. It is also increasingly apparent that this is also felt by the younger generation who are the ones who would have to live with the consequeces in the event of a yes vote. * Britain offers massive benefits and economies of scale in areas ranging from defence to pensions and from consular facilities to currency which I do not want to lose. All of this is hugely important and not to be thrown away on the say so of a group of people who ideologically want a separate Scotland - irrespective of the consequences. * The separatist lobby have utterly failed to show any credible evidence for what they think would be so much better. Meanwhile they accuse Better Together of "scaremongering" and the like when they quite simply are pointing out a whole range of very obvious problems which are totally avoidable by staying as we are. * Scotland has a number of serious problems such as health and welfare liabilities in certain areas as well as unpleasant sectarian issues. Separation would mean that these problems become a much bigger part of 5 million population Scotland than 60 million population Great Britain. In particular as a Highlander, I have no desire at all to have my entire existence governed by the central belt. Charles thanks for that, I was in the undecided camp but if thats the best the no campaign have to offer then I am voting Yes

  19. The BBC must have thought that they would shorten the highlights on Sportscene and their website as BT Sport had covered then game live. There was far more goal mouth action from both sides than they bothered to show. As I don't have BT Sport but was at the game I would have appreciated more.

  20. A few comments regarding Doran being a bit 'off-the-boil' again yesterday. I wasn't at the Aberdeen game so can't justifiably comment but he has maybe lost a bit of his early season spark. I wouldn't like to level an accusation of a professional player being in a comfort-zone but maybe it would be beneficial to rest him for a few games as it would also demonstrate that nobody can be guaranteed an automatic pick. Again, not wanting to cast aspersions but has this dip coincided with his signing of his 3 year contract? Maybe it's just taken away some urgency or hunger and as mentioned has resulted in hi slipping into a comfort-zone.

  21. Azgaz as a fan is a loser .. why oh why did we have to have him when there were other suitable and available fans. There is only one way he can now progress and that is downwards. His ability to support players once a slide in form begins does not exist. He is one of the most prolific bullshitters in Scottish football and his ability to analyse situations is very poor .. you only had to listen to him on CTO. Goodbye Azgaz, next season it will be a scrap against relegation for County.

Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.
