  1. Just want to say a massive thanks to L_G who worked in our club shop. She was always great to speak with both in person and over the phone. She always went out of her way to help. I remember one evening she posted tickets for us on her way home from work - above and beyond the call of duty. L_G leaving is a big loss for our club. She was great with visitors, fans and tourists in the shop. To me, she was the main point of contact - the 'face' of our club - as it were. Thank you for all of your help over the years L_G. All the best for now and the future.

  2. In many respects Yogi has maxed what he was capable of achieving with us in such a short space of time. He inherited a fantastic team that was very capable but he was the one who got the best out of them. He was never going to better last season. What would have been intriguing was whether or not this current crop would have progressed under his reign as it was the first time he'd had to recruit so extensively. Despite a rocky start there have been massive signs of improvement and a lot of promise shown, especially from some of the new boys. Would be a pity to see him go as things were beginning to turn things around. I dont like pointing fingers but I feel the board have to shoulder some blame if he does go. The summer was always going to be a bit of a rebuild and on the back of what Yogi achieved the board should have taken care of him first and given him a new contract. Build stability again from the top. If I were Yogi I'd have been a bit scunnered that my long term future was not a top priority on the back of European qualification and our first major trophy. United see in him the success he achieved here and its no surprise they want him. The challenge there will be a massive one. Its poorest United team I've seen in years. If Yogi wants to go then he cant be stopped. Get the best compensation and start gaffer shopping. I'll be forever grateful to him for giving us such an amazing 2 years as a club. In terms of who we should get to replace him I'd like us to go for Stuart McCall if its affordable. He favors shopping down south which suits our budget and squad and he's spoken highly of us in the past. He had a terrific run at Motherwell, may not have ended great but still achieved plenty and built a formidable team. Doubt the board would give the job to Richie but would like to see him get a coaching job. Maybe as McCalls assistant or something.

  3. What on earth is the point calling up players in exceptional form like Shinnie, being four or five up against Gibraltar in a meaningless game then throwing on the likes of Naismith? This was a perfect chance to see how players like Shinnie were shaping up to break onto the international scene but no. Strachan yet again goes with the players we've all seen a million times before and know what they can do so we don't get to learn anything ahead of the next campaign.

  5. I speak for myself and many many others and would like to say thanks for all the help and support given over the years. In the club shop and also the free time given regarding CJT. A great ambassador for the club, you will certainly be missed by the fans. I hope all is well.

  6. Sorry to hear this. Laura has sorted me out with last-minute tickets many times. Best of luck, and see you on a #caleyaway day soon, I hope.

  7. Very sorry to hear Laura has gone. Always obliging and a great ambassador for the club who often went a fair bit more than the extra mile on behalf of the club to assist fans which, several times, included myself. Good luck to her and heartfelt thanks for all her help over the years.

  10. How on earth can you possibly criticise the manager who got Scotland a historic 6-0 away win in Portugal?!

  14. What ever happens the players we have are better than they were prior to Yogis appointment.

  15. If Yogi goes, it won't be for ambitious reasons. Realistically, Dundee United are not going to win anything that Caley Thistle can't. Top 3 finish, occasional cup triumph and European football. They're never going to win the league. In my opinion it can only be about money and being closer to the central belt. Sad if it comes to pass.

  16. No Laurence, even I would agree that IBM is perfectly entitled to make the point in question. I don't think it's particularly valid, but would still contend that he is being quite reasonable in making it.

  17. Had no idea Laura was leaving. I second all that Rory said above. A big loss.

  18. It doesn't matter what the print, large or small, says, no employee can be held against their will. We cannot stop him from moving to another club if he's determined to and it would then be a matter of seeking compensation for breaching the contract either from Hughes or United which could take months and have significant costs. If he wants to go then much better to get compensation agreed and paid now.

  19. ICT will do exactly as they did with Butcher. Refuse the initial approach, speak to the manager and talk about offering them a new deal but are told that the manager wants to talk to the club who has made the approach, ICT 'reluctantly' accept, manager agrees terms with approaching club who then agree compensation with ICT to release manager from contract. When you look back at these articles on the BBC website ever get the feeling we've seen this all before? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24809195 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24827043

  20. Let's get this done with as much compensation and as quickly as possible so that our club can move onto it's next successful chapter in our remarkable history.

  22. Don't think it would be fair to say it would be purely money motivated. Unfortunately Dundee would be commutable for him from Edinburgh, so I'm pretty sure the chance to live with his family again may be quite a big draw. Pits not looking good by the sound of things, but will wait until I hear something official. If he does decide to go I wouldn't grudge him it. We've replaced successful managers before, and I'm confident we will do so again.

  23. Can't be long now until we hear the immortal line "After John indicated his desire to speak with Dundee United the club reluctantly gave permission for John to travel to meet with Dundee United to discuss terms."

  24. I mentioned Jackie, just like last time though there isn't that many attractive names going around. McCall would be another good shout if Hughes was to leave. Or for fun could we just get pele back in.

  26. There will be a double DVD, the Cup Final on one and a second with highlights of the rest of the season....a kinda "Road to Hampden" and "Road to Europe" type thing. With so much else going on, and a desire to make sure we get it right, we're not rushing it.....but it will happen.

    • Inverness CT (1-2) Hamilton - Play off Final 2nd Leg - Preview
The hurt, the pain, the reluctance and pig-headedness to listen to the fans asking what is going on, the lack of communication, the lack of ambition, the stench of mismanagement, the concert company, the battery farm, the demise since winning the Scottish Cup in 2015, the lack of passion, the lack of commitment, the dwindling fanbase, the lack of leadership. It has left the fans comfortably numb

    • Hamilton -V- Inverness CT - Play off Final 1st Leg - Preview
However all is not well and we just kept our heads above water thanks to Arbroath being rubbish. Onto the play offs and an insipid performance at Links Park left us all wondering if our time has come to drop into oblivion. Our performance certainly would not look out of place in the lower leagues. We clung on for a 0-0 draw away from home and scraped a 1-0 win at Inverness with Billy Mckay saving our blushes. Everything about the club has negative undertones at the moment.

    • Inverness CT 1-0 Montrose Play-Off Second Leg (0-0)
Little Consolation: Inverness will face Hamilton Accies in the Play-Off final after nervously scraping past part-time Montrose who were eventually reduced to ten men when Blair Lyons was sent off after an off the ball incident in the 84th minute involving Morgan Boyes. Inverness had dominated throughout, but failed to capitalise on their possession, and as per the entire season failed to create much of note. The first half was livlier than the first leg, but the same problems showed up our lack of quality. We started with no wingers and Billy Mckay as usual in a withdrawn role. It's not worked all season, so why should it suddenly work now. A woeful first half ended goalless and it was on the hour and out of the blue when Billy Mckay prodded in from three yards to score the only goal of the game following a corner

    • Inverness CT -V- Montrose - Second Leg (0-0)
As much as we have criticised the Caley Jags performance on Tuesday night, let's not lose sight of the fact that Montrose are a decent League 1 side with a good blend of experience and talented prospects. For our part, let's keep them as a good League 1 side and that means no room for faffing about. Time has run out now, there's no hiding places and no room for shirkers. Ditch the sideways passing or put goal posts in front of the Main Stand and tuck shops.

    • Montrose 0-0 Inverness CT - Play Off 1st Leg
      FULL TIME: 0-0

All to play for on Saturday, but don't hold your breath...

However, if we continue like this, it will be our final game this season.

Best performer for us was Samson Lawal, the only bright spark on the field.

Alloa 2-2 Hamilton was the other semi-final score tonight. On this evidence, I doubt either side will be quaking in their boots.
