  1. Having just returned having been to Celtic Park yesterday, Celtic were actually outstanding. We have caused them significant trouble over the years but no one really expected any repeat performances. We come back at least £100k richer as a club, Aberdeen used to get battered worse than us,and we can now focus on one competition. Apart from recent history with our poor run in the league, there is no reason why we cannot squeeze points out of the next three very difficult games despite the adversity starting this Saturday with a lot of injuries and key suspensions. In addition Billy King was injured against Celtic but is unavailable against his parent club. Hearts will have a certain focus on the Scottish Cup replay and possibly on the next round if they get a good draw. Problems started yesterday with the second goal (its nature and timing) just before half time. We worked very hard in the first half despite playing a team who are completely undefeated on the domestic front this season. Had we come out at 1-0 for the second half the game might have been much tighter. We have now got that game out of our system and if we refer to Hamilton's far worse trouncing at Celtic Park last season (19 Jan 2016 and 8-1) , they dusted themselves down and reacted very positively to the result. We can rest assurred that everyone connected with the club will do everything this week to do the same.

  2. I wish I had a pound for every time I have read something like that over the last two seasons. The fact is that our fortunes don't have to change. It's a competitive sport, not a lottery. You make your own luck. The only way out of the mess is to play out of it. Although it must be about time for a call to Harry Redknapp

  3. I went for Hamilton as it was the worst all-round performance I can remember seeing from us, cut us further adrift from our nearest relegation rivals, and probably increased their confidence while diminishing ours. And for the simple reason that it was the lowest I've felt at an ICT game this season.

  4. There is no question that Richie's inexperience is costing us week after week. His response to our crisis is to go with experience in the middle of the park - sacrificing pace and invention. The Draper/Tansey/Vigurs midfield is catastrophic. Worse still when Polworth is played on the right. No pace, no invention. Despite warning signs about this formation for weeks, Richie persists with it at Parkhead of all places! 4-3-3 looked like our formation against one of the most mobile teams we've ever seen in Scotland! Utterly suicidal not to offer Warren and mackay protection with 2 holding midfielders who would deny space in that crucial part of the field. The frustration is that I think we do have a good enough group of players to get us out of the mire, but I don't have any faith in Richie to pick the right team in the right formation to do it. Play the same midfield trio in the next 3 games and we'll be thrashed in all 3, destroying any remaining confidence and dooming us. Vigurs needs to go and Doran, Cole, Mulraney need a chance in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Time is short.

  5. Has anyone considered at OFW may be carrying an injury. He looked slow at getting down yesterday. It was more about his movement than his confidence. Having a go at another legend here but Gary Warren is not exactly providing cover these days. And Draper looks like the only one working in front of the back four. Tansey and Vigurs are a couple of chocolate teapots.

  7. Haven't read all previous posts but can guess at what has been said. For sure, yesterday was a sore one and especially as it was live on TV. Better teams than us have had similar hammerings at Parkhead this season so let's have some perspective on this. What was clear yesterday was that wee have problems in central defence and possibly with our keeper although, apart from his one mistake, Fon Williams did not have an awful lot to do (apart from pick the ball out of the net) but did what he had to do. No Warren or McKay against Hearts as both suspended so it will be McCart and someone. It will be interesting to see what RF does as Hearts are not invincible and were not very good today. Need to start Doran if he is fit as he was badly missed on Saturday.

  8. Well, I have to take off my hat to you for finding an almost exact replica of the building I photographed!! This is the one I photographed......Douglas Row, by the riverside. . .....and this is Midmills Road. Maybe the same architect designed both?

  10. I would say the only reason a few people have not voted for Hamilton is that they weren't there

  11. Thats up there with the statements criticising referees after games even when played off the park by the opposition - pathetic 'football' excuses. Fact is its not about being unlucky or bad officials or decisions - we have players constantly injured in training, poor tactics, players out of position, lack of motivation ..............the list goes on. Fix those things and we will start to improve but thats nothing to do with lucky, its hard work and actioning a forumlated tactical plan which works to our strengths and competes effectively against our opposition.

  13. I put appointing Richie Foran as manager.

  14. Sorry but I feel that this needs continued debate. If I was in charge I would be looking at Richie's contract and looking at a deal to end it. A legend but one that needs to go before we actually make things a lot worse for him. The next two games may be chalked down to just go fer it affairs. Sevco is more of a could do. We need to get in a new management team for the Sevco game. We then have to task them to either save us from relegation or prepare to bounce back up again. Richie is NOT going to change things, Richie is not going to infuse the necessary passion. Richie unfortunately can only make things worse. I do NOT want to remember him as the man who took us out of the Premiership and potentially further down the ladder. The Board are also the ones that need to make that decision and that would be a major back down for them. Do they actually have the bolls to do it ?

  15. Aye and we drew 2-2 with them earlier this season!

  16. Bump. Is there a plan in place? As much as I like Richie it's clear he's (sadly) out of his depth. A new assistant perhaps? New investment? Something has to give. We need to stay up. Apologies in advance to the happy clappers.

  18. A 6-0 defeat is hard to take, but let's just put this in a bit of perspective and compare it with results in the previous manager's first season with us. Despite taking over the side when we were 2nd in the league and inheriting a significantly stronger squad than then he left us with, in his first year here Hughes took his team to Celtic Park twice in the league where we were hammered 5-0 and then 6-0 by a Celtic team which was not a patch on the team we saw today. In the cup we managed to scrape through against Stranraer after a reply before being thrashed 5-0 at home by Dundee Utd. As for the game itself, whilst accepting we clearly have issues at the back, I thought the result was more a reflection of the quality and application of a superb Celtic side than of a poor performance from us. I've seen us play worse than that and win.

  20. Positive Mulraney and Ebbe the rest absolutely terrible including the managers schoolboy tactics. As good as Celtic can be we were absolutely shocking the space they had to play in was embarrassing think the referee saved us from a complete tanking today with his handling of the game.

  21. I`d say any Scottish team would have been hammered today at Celtic. Plus we did gift a couple at least. Cup out of the way now. Time to bring us together and get safe!

  22. We are on the worst run in our clubs history, we are bottom of the table and are six points away from safety. Our next three league matches are against Hearts, Rangers and Celtic, all games we will be heavily favoured to lose. Assume that we get through those games with the same gap, we'll need to make up six points on someone in the last eleven games. Can anyone honestly say that we are capable of doing that? We have been abysmal this season, of all the regular players who would anyone say has had a good season? Tremarco, perhaps? Other than him I can't think of anyone who has performed to the levels required. We have a goalkeeper who constantly makes mistakes that cost us goals and matches, a defence who constantly present the ball to the opposition, a midfield who can't use the ball to attack or cover the ground to defend, attackers who can't score or create chances, notwithstanding the last-minute loan signing on deadline day. On top of this we have a manager who makes constant changes to no effect, doesn't appear to have a plan, doesn't seem able to organise the team properly and can't get a win. If we hadn't appointed Foran and had recruited someone externally who had this record fans would be far less forgiving. Foran is a legend as a player but we are in serious danger of being relegated and falling down the Dunfermline / St Miren shaped hole of lower league obscurity. The hope has to be that we make a huge improvement in the next ten games or so because if we continue to play the way we have this season we are going down, it's a certainty.

  23. A very worthy sentiment but unfortunately, as DD rightly says, the SNP have got there first and already hijacked this issue as a possible excuse to create enough grievance for a second separation referendum. So, although Alex' views are commendably only influenced by what's best for the UK, that is not the case with the SNP who, compared with its sole raison d'etre, fundamentally couldn't give a toss about the UK or indeed any of its citizens on either side of the Border. The SNP have just struck lucky. A separate Scotland would be so shaky that they would absolutely have to join in with some larger entity - and hence voluntarily give up the very sovereignty the currently moan about not having - and it so happens that overall we may get a "leave" vote. Conflict created! So although I also wish that it could be possible to discuss the Brexit issue in isolation, the Nats have made this completely impossible. But to turn to Brexit considerations, I think the EU has gone too far and now restricts national sovereignties far too much. It is certainly a very different and more instrusive institution than the one we voted to join in the 70s. I just don't fancy being told how to run our affairs by a bunch of foreigners. I am also rather dismayed at the anonymous nonentities we are electing to the European Parliament and quite honestly I am completely unable to name one MEP (unless Farage is still there - or was he ever?) On the other hand economic cooperation is absolutely vital and there may therefore be severe economic consequences if we leave. It's therefore a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't. The price of the economic cooperation is handing over much of how we run this country to other people. My heart says that I would be glad to get rid of foreign interference while my head says that there may be considerable economic risks. If I could get genuine assurance that there would only be very limited economic consequences, then I would gladly leave but I'm not sure if that's possible, so I am as yet undecided. On the other hand if some diluted down membership could be negotiated, I would feel quite inclined to accept that. I think the British view of Europe has always tended to be fundamentally different from that held on the continental mainland because here we have experienced none of the warmongering and hostile armies tramping back and forth which Europe has suffered right back at least to the 30 Years War in the early 17th century. I've forgotten which 1950s politician said that he had no particular desire to unite with six countries, four of which we helped liberate from the other two. I think it may have beren Harold MacMillian who, when invited to attend negotiations which led to the original 1957 Treaty of Rome, said that he was far too busy sorting out Cyprus. And although the Dominion status of Australia, New Zealand and Canada probably should have been dispensed with long ago, we do also tend to have a degree of friendly affiliation with states which departed from our former Empire on far more amicable terms that did the former colonies of the likes of France and Belgium.

  26. Roshie!!!! And then there was Murd's legendary "shoulder charge" on... was it Danny McGrain?? I'm sure you will also remember Roshie's last game in charge right at the end of 1985 - a 2-all draw in a friendly at Kingsmills against a good Celtic side managed by a VERY sore Davie Hay!

    • Inverness CT 3-1 Morton - Report
It was a lovely evening for a game of football, what could possibly go wrong? Well, what did go wrong was Queen's Park beat an understrength Airdrie 2-0 at Hampden, therefore despite beating Morton 3-1, Inverness head for the play-offs. Morgan Boyes opened the scoring with a thumping volley after half an hour. Kirk Broadfoot benefited from slack defending to level before the break then proceeded to earn the wrath of the home support with an embarrassing celebration in front of the North Stand. Cammy Harper relieved Billy Mckay of penalty kick duties and duly slotted home from the spot ten minutes after the break. The scoring was completed just after the hour when Sean McAllister drilled home into the bottom corner. Robbie Muirhead had been sent off for simulation then taking a wee fit to himself and was promptly sent off after 58 minutes just after Harper had knocked in his penalty kick, probably aggrieved that he never earned a spot kick for his dramatic dive.

Well, where do you start. It was clear from the begining of the season that something was wrong. Poor signings, dismal performances in the League Cup followed by an abysmal start to the League campaign saw Billy Dodds removed from his position after winning one point in the first six Championship fixtures and replaced by a man with no track record as a manager. A sort of publicity stunt if you like. After the initial new manager bounce wore off, we found ourselves little better off with Big Dunc than we were with wee Billy. We did claw ourselves up to the coat tails of others but the most damning part of our season has been our inability to score goals, especially at home. Only already relegated Arbroath are worse than us. Our team is now full of mercenaries, loan players with no affiliation to our Highland pedigree and many fans have tagged us as being the worst squad ever in our short history. Where are the Golabeck's, Tokeley's, Wilson's..... Much of this can be attributed to our lack of financial nous in the boardroom, failed ventures and now the begging bowls are being put in place to save our club. Having drawn at Dunfermline last week thanks to Aribim Pepple's first goal for the club combined with Billy Mckay's penalty miss, it's now out of our own hands. LAST SIX: D L  W W L  D

    • Dunfermline 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Out of our hands now: It ended in disappointment for the 319 visiting fans with news that Queens Park had hammered Arbroath 0-5. To rub salt into the wounds, Sheridan and Welsh were amongst the scorers. It's out of our hands now, but it's a must win next Friday and hope Queens Park falter.  Inverness play Morton and Queens play Airdrie. A draw might be enough, but it's a long shot.

I'm not convinced that Billy Mckay was the right man to be taking that penalty, his second failure from the spot in successive games against the Pars.

    • Dunfermline Ath -V- Inverness CT - Preview
Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.
