Dani Sanchez

Item from Tribal Football - Dani Sanchez has signed a new one year deal with Wellington Phoenix....

The 27-year old Spanish midfielder has penned a one-year deal to remain with the A-League club after a fairly successful debut season following his move from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in July last year.

“We are delighted to have secured Dani’s services for another year,” Phoenix general manager David Dome said.

“He is a player who has shown he has the qualities needed for the A-League.”

Head coach Ricki Herbert added: “Dani showed he had real quality last season and it was just unfortunate that, at times, circumstances forced us to play him in what was possibly not his best position.

“With the squad we are putting together I’m confident Dani will be able to play to his true potential.

“He is talented and has great vision.”

Still think he was worth at least another season and with the season that has just gone he would have been a useful addition to the squad....

Thought he was an alright player with us who never really got a chance. Fair play to him.

He scored some cracking goals for Wellingon this seasn

Agree that all to often our style of hoof and hope play didnt suit him. When he was on form and we played football on the deck he looked very good.

I liked him as a player but when you have a player who is more suited to a technical game than Scotlands physical game then there was only ever going to be one outcome.

Glad to see him doing well overseas

I see that Dani Sanchez hasn't played for Wellington so far this season as he is out till late November following a knee operation.

He would have fitted in nicely to the current ICT team, was gutted when they let him go. He never fulfilled his potential here.

May as well tikka chance when it's offered...

I'd forgotten about him!

I wonder if Butcher's top scout, Steve Massala, has checked him out?

IHE --- isn't Italy the boot?

Ach, IHE is pasta his best

as for Dani ... hope he scores on his debut, otherwise while his scoring tally stays at naan, his new team will be waiting a while for him to poppadam goal in.

Sari he's nae cumin back to spice things up, he could hae hit a bal tae the back o the net,

He didn't get as many runs in the team as he would have wanted.

These jokes are rubbish - my patience is starting to saag...

He'll probably have an anthem for him out there, although I'm not sure what they'll singh.

It is reported that Dani Sanchez is about to sign for a club in India, where he will be joined by Billy Mehmet.

Just to bring this up to date - that proposed move to India never materialised, and Sanchez has instead been playing for Tuen Mun SA (ground capacity 2,200) in Hong Kong's 1st division. Wikipedia shows him having 6 appearances and 1 goal for them.

Older fans might recall that this is the same league that Paul Ritchie played in, for Happy Valley, right before joining us in 2001.

Steve Paterson used to play for Hong Kong Rangers who are in that league as well.

Yeah i remember that after reading his book,  I thought it would be a good idea to go them in Championship/Football manager and then after a couple matches quit as i realised it was ****.
