Time to stop raiding County!

Is anyone else getting a bit fed-up of us popping over the bridge?

Rankin has proved what a jump it is, if the Player of the Year finds it tough - what chance have the rest got?

Rankin........McSwegan.......Cowie.....(not to mention previous signings).

I'm disappointed - how does that show ambition?

Yogi manages to get players like Stokes and Casper Schmichael - and we raid the tinks!

C'mon Grassa and Charlie - bite the bullet and look further afield - it's getting boring now!

Got to agree with ya there Mrs PB.

Agree with what you are saying but...

... we are going to find it hard to attract anyone from the central belt because if they are in a central belt area and things don't work out they have plenty of clubs to move too, while in the highlands it is ICT.. C*unty.. or Elgin :017:

... also we can't match the same wage demands as other clubs in the SPL

...  It is a big move (as your hubby will know) to move from a populated city like Glasgow etc.. to the highlands.

... County is an ideal place for us to see how well players have settled in the area and then give them a good wash and... sorted :003:

... I don't think they have anyone worth stealing left :024: :016:

don't forget we also raided Clach in this window :015: :015: :015:

At the end of the day, I dont care where our new signings come from if they are good enough and that is the key phrase .... Rankin is proving to be worth it, and other players who have previously been at County have also served us well. I have never seen Don Cowie play (that I can remember) so cant really pass comment on him but you can only go to the same well so often before it dries up ....

Agree we should be looking wherever we can for players ...

this is just a thought, but according to the timetable on the Dalcross airport website, Inverness now has regular flights to Birmingham, London (Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton), Manchester, Liverpool, Dublin, Bristol, Leeds, Southampton, Belfast, and East Midlands as well as internal Scottish routes .... perhaps we could think laterally and try to entice players near to these transport links to come here either permanently or on loan and build a certain number of 'free' flights into their contract - hopefully getting round the 'so far away' or 'middle of nowhere' syndrome.

I agree it is annoying to keep raiding RC but those players are already based in the Highlands so will have no real 'moving' issues. ICT will always find it difficult to attract Central belt players and even if they did these players would soon be off come the better offer. Scotty's idea is a good one but, again, ICT will find it hard to attract players north because of our limited offers in the wages dept.

Mind you, maybe County are stocking up on future stars for us ..... just noticed on the BBC site that they have signed a couple of Serie B players .......

Here's the latest from BBC (last couple of days worth) ...

Martin Donald [Hibernian - Montrose] Loan

Richie Foran [Motherwell - Southend] £200,000

Steve Hislop [Livingston - Raith Rovers] Undisclosed

Kyle MacAuley [Aberdeen-Peterhead] Undisclosed

Malik Rezgane [Triestina - Ross County] Undisclosed

Massio Tomei [Triestina - Ross County] Undisclosed

Krisztian Vadocz [Auxerre - Motherwell] Loan

Scott Kellacher [Nairn County - Elgin City]

Stuart McKenzie [inverness Caledonian Thistle - Montrose] Undisclosed

Eddie Malone [Clyde - St Mirren] Undisclosed

Stephen O'Donnell [Clyde - St Mirren] Undisclosed

Kevin Thomson [Hibernian - Rangers] £2m

Don't agree at all. Generally, the former County players e have signed have improved noticably and have gone on to serve the club very well.

Richie Foran going is significantly good news

I am sure County's new recruits will be impressed as they fly into Inverness International Airport and then head pasta the Caledonian Stadium en route to Dingwall. Anyway, a good pizza business for Leitch.

Scott Kellacher [Nairn County - Elgin City]

Glad to see our own Scotty Kellacher get a club following a falling out with Nairn County.  All the best Scotty.  :021:

Keep meaning to go to a highland league game. Are they any good?

Are the players actually paid?

From BBC....

Ross County have signed two players from Italian Serie A club Triestina.

Goalkeeper Matteo Tomei is joined at Dingwall by teammate Malik Rezgane.

The 19-year-old striker, Rezgane, started his career at Bordeaux.

It would seem our backwards neighbours have a slightly better contacts than us  :010:

I have absolutely no problem with us raiding County and picking the cream of the crop.

Ross County are undoubtedly the 2nd team in the Highland area and the natural step up for ambitious players with potential is to join the top team in the Highland area. Eventually they might move onwards (and probably southwards).

Until we are capable of producing all our own players from our own youth set-up, which, lets face it, is very unlikely, that will always be the most natural and likely route for aspiring, north-based players.

Trust the BBC - Triestina are currently sitting 10th (of 22) in Serie B

As Scotty says if they're good enough then we take players from anywhere.  Most of our County recruits have done a job, so I don't see the problem with going back there in the future.

I guess if they are good enough then fair enough to an extent, but it seems that they seem to be using what contacts they do have a lot better than we might be using ours.

Which again begs the question why do we keep raiding County and not doing more ourselves.

But surely that is what diddy feeder clubs are for. Triestina is populated by theiving gypsies. The feckin eyeties will feel rite at feckin home.

You would'nt have signed some of our ex-players over the years (and continue to do so) if we were so backwards. As others have said, you have to look closer to home to find out your real problems in terms of bringing through players.

Unfortunately it can be argued you are still a diddy club off the pitch.

Portacabin for a club shop anyone?

Window salesman as director of football?

Former basketball clown as chief executive?

And Ronnie Duncan?

... mmm.. and yet which team is playing SPL football :024:

If you had concentrated on the football side of things then you would maybe know by now what it's like to play with the big boys

You're right, we are so terribly run it's embarrassing.  All our board have managed to do in the last three years is put together a promotino winning side, negotiate our way into the SPL, strike a deal to get us back to Inverness, build a stadium in record time, secure hundreds of thousands of pounds for managers leaving onlyto replace them with better, more successful ones and secure more funding for the club, all while maintaining SPl status.  It's a ******* disgrace - sack the board!  :008: :015:

Of the ex-County players at our club most were released by County - Roy McBain, Stuart Golabek and Richie hart certainly were, while Graham Bayne wasn't offered a new contract.  Watching these guys play in the SPL must be a bind to the County fans, especially when they have had to watch the likes of McGarry and Hannah instead  :015:

Is it no time to resurrect CountyAir? Or something else like it? What about GypsyJet. CabbageFlot. Aer Tinkus. C(o)untinental.  British Tinkland. KLM (Kabbage-like machines).

Mind you I suppose it wouldnae be funny if they were hijacked by Wheelie-Bin-Laden.

Yes they're our rivals but stealing their best players again and again violates the spirit of 'fair play'. We used to hate Livi for doing it to us, now we're just as bad.
